I watched Billy Sims on television in high school when he played for Oklahoma. I had no idea he was in the restaurant business because I joined the military when he was in Detroit. His barbecue restaurant has amazing food! I live in Virginia now and the barbecue there is terrible. A lot is Carolina style with vinegar or gosh mustard for crying out loud. All the "hot food" was cold. I hate when places only toast one side of the bread. So stupid. The pulled pork tasted like it was cooked yesterday and put in the fridge overnight. The meat was so dry, even drenched in sauce it was hard to eat. And what cray cray is that there was very very little smoke flavor in the meat at all. Great place to grab some quick BBQ! I ordered smoked turkey, smoked chicken, potato salad, and green beans. Everything was delicious, and the portions were generous. Definitely a good value, as I easily got two meals out of it. Decent food but the managers customer service leaves a lot to be desired! We had a simple issue with our order that the manager admitted to being caused by ordering online and refused to fix it! All we asked for was a credit of the items we were missing from our take out order and they refused to do ANYTHING to make it right regardless thAt it was their issue! We paid over $80 for 4 sandwiches and even paid service fees for takeout and they still refused to make it right??? This was their managers call and he clearly needs more management and customer service experience and training! read more

The boyfriend and I have always wanted to go here - especially because it's right across Aldi's, and we've resisted temptation for long enough! Tried it yesterday and we were really impressed! Got the 4 ribs and 2 sides, and the Heisman sandwich. I think the Heisman sandwich, meat wise - was pretty good. Only con here is that you do have to put in the sauce on your own, and onions and everything else. My suggestion here is to just load it up with BBQ sauce, add some red onions, and throw in some banana peppers. The real winner though, are the ribs. Which I absolutely regret not getting, because they were fall-off-the-bone tender, and they were seasoned great even without the BBQ sauce! That being said...the hot BBQ sauce was a double winner. Had a sliced bbef sandwich. Meh. Typical chain BBQ. Very little smoke ring, maybe 1/8". And no smoke flavor. Cooked over gas? Likely. And no rub! What's the deal with no rub in OK "bbq"? To their credit, the meat was tender to the bite and somewhat moist. But I'll stick with the backyard smoker. read more

I never thought I'd be posting a bad review on THIS restaurant, but it's well deserved. We literally eat here once a week. Tonight we went through the drive thru. My husband gets home and said their prices went up. So I sat down and looked at their menu online. It says $7.99 for a chopped beef sandwich. I thought we had been over charged. I call the restaurant and asked the girl how much that sandwich was. She said $12.99. I explained to her we had been overcharged. She said, no, we had a price increase and hadn't had time to updated their website. So, $5.00 more for 1 sandwich. I told her to kindly let her manager know that we won't be back. If it was a bigger sandwich I wouldn't mind as much. She just stood there in silence and said, will there be anytime else? I thanked her for caring so much and hung up. So disappointing!!! read more

We had Billy Sims cater a luncheon after our mothers Memorial Service with their tailgate package. The food arrived on time and was hot moist and great. The salads were fresh with fresh salad dressing. Mac n cheese was a favorite among the children and the men loved the brisket and pork. Also tea was good. We decided to give Billy Sims a try and glad we did. I had a sliced brisket sandwich and wife had the hot link sandwich. The sandwiches also comes with sides. I had the beans and wife had the potatoe salad. I also asked for 1 rib so I could give them a try. The rib was a generous portion and so tender and meaty. The sandwiches were full of flavor and filling. On the table was 3 different sauces. Mild, Hot and Hickory. I tried all 3.. My favorite was the Hickory. All of the staff were extremely friendly from the greeting to going through the line to paying. It was nice even when we walked out them thinking us for coming in. Billy Sims may be a controversial Heisman Trophy winner and All-American football star, but he certainly lent his name to a great barbecue joint. The pulled pork and ribs were moist and were perfectly seasoned and the classic sides complemented the meal. Pickles and onions are always a nice touch with BBQ and Billy Sims serves them up readily. The only negative is that all of the memorabilia in the restaurant is only related to Billy Sims. Good food, better if you get all of it. along with the rest of my order, I asked for a Triple-20 sandwich (delivery order) which arrived without cole slaw. A week later, I went in and picked up to go food, along with another triple-20, which they once again left off the cole slaw. I called in to the Edmond store and manager stated they would replace the whole sandwich. Not great for current taste buds, but an answer at least. Went in today and bought two other sandwiches and remembered my Triple 20! After getting past the confusion (told story 4 times), you guessed it, no notation for my credit at all. We got the a family pack for 3-4 people. Three meats and 2 family sides. We loved every part of it. Loaded potato salad was legit.

Brandon was the driver and never got my food to me. I had to call the restaurant and tell them I never received my food. They had to call the driver that was supposed to deliver my food. The driver ended up cussing out the restaurant and said that the driver "Brandon" filmed me receiving the food. I guess he filmed someone else because I didn't get my food. They handled the driver and ended up making my food again and personally delivered it to me. They ended up giving me a turtle brownie and was very professional about the situation. read more

I have ordered BBQ from Billy Sims in Edmond for 10 years. But now will NEVER go back. Tonight I placed an order for 4 dinners, one being a rib dinner. I did not get any of the meats I ordered including the ribs. Not one of the four dinners had the correct meats. Not one of sides in my 4 dinners was correct!!!! How does this happen????? I asked for BBQ sauce and was assured twice that it was included in the bag, however, there was none!!!!! Got home...discovered this mess and called the restaurant for a refund. Probably my favorite BBQ place in the OKC metro area. Their prices are very reasonable, portions are good, and the meats themselves are downright savory and delicious. The real star here is their ribs which are flavorful and tender. Also, their chopped brisket is delectable with the perfect amount of lean/fat ratio. It's so tender and delicious you don't need sauce. The Billy Beans have a familiar baked bean flavor but with the added bonus of bits of sausage, pulled pork, and brisket. My very favorite side when it's available is their chili. Yes, chili. It's that good. Potato salad is just standard fare. Wife says the Mac N Cheese is some of the best she's ever had. Some other reviewer mentioned the lack of smell of the smoker and that let him to believe the food isn't cooked on-site. That's because it's out back and not in the restaurant. Some might appreciate the fact that you don't walk out smelling like fire but they do definitely smoke their meats on-site, just not inside the building. read more

I called ahead and picked it up and it was ready when I got there so that was good. Got home and they forgot my ribs, so that was bad. We shared chopped brisket, pulled pork, turkey and chicken. The chicken and turkey were indistinguishable from each other and the brisket and pork were almost there as well. None of it was bad, but especially the brisket and pork should be very distinctive and they weren't. The sides were no different than what you'd buy from a grocery store. Potato salad, green beans and cole slaw could have been bulk bought, I can't say. The Billy Simms hot sauce was the highlight for me as it was just how I like my side sauce. Two person meal was $32 which is pretty pricey, especially given the quality and small portions. They offered me a coupon for a meal since they forgot my ribs. I'll give another review if that meal is any improvement. If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't go back as there are too many quality smoked meat houses to short change yourself. read more
