First time at this location and still was a good time with some great bbq. The drink/bbq bar situation was a little confusing but eventually we understood that a waitress was going to get all that for us. I finally caught wind to swadleys breakfast, I walked in around 9:55 am I wasn't aware breakfast ended at 10am. I felt so bad, the cashier Jayden was so pleasant he was like don't worry. If the menu is up you can still order. It wasn't too busy, very quiet music playing low. Mostly just staff cleaning and preparing for lunch and dinner. These breakfast tacos are so good! The salsa on the side is the perfect combination. I tried both salsas, I can't even say I like one more than the other. They are both good! We got here at 12:30 pm on a Thursday afternoon and they were busy. We were in the mood for a chicken fried steak. We of course got the okra and we decided to try the mac n cheese. The chicken fry was delicious. Lightly battered, thin and no gristle. The okra is hot and plentiful. We weren't crazy about the mac n cheese. Noodles were slightly overcooked and needed more salt. It was creamy. We met Lucky who was in mgmt and had a great conversation. We hope to see him again. We enjoy going into places and seeing the same employees. Feels like seeing family in a good way. Who made the sides today? Really REALLY off! Potato salad was pretty much mayo and undercooked potatoes. Sweet beans had WAY too much Liquid Smoke. I'm a long time customer but not sure I'll go back. Staff is always nice. I'm wasn't inside but it appears clean. I don't like it when they put the small containers inside with my food. I know those things get dropped once in awhile. I ordered the one meat meal through the drive through and was very disappointed when I opened it at home. I ordered sliced brisket, okra, and potato salad. Portion size has gotten smaller again. Potato salad was thin colored mash potatoes. Heavy on mayo. The best thing was the okra. I guess they quit giving rolls or at least I didn't get one. The barbecue sauce had a funny twang to it so I wasn't too upset that I was given just one. Really disappointed and for the cost of the meal I'll go somewhere else. read more

Just flew into town and had to grab me some dinner. I made a great choice here. Love the full service they offer. Food was amazingly good loved the ribs nice and sticky good. Eggs in the potato salad with paprika dusted on top was fantastic. The corn was fantastic too. Sausage was good too. I tried two of the bbq sauces. Honey sweet and Spicy Both definitely need to be tried. I definitely suggest adding this place to the must visit locations to eat. read more

Overpriced bbq. No clue why this place has a 4 rating. Before Covid we would come here with my grandad and it was better. The onion & pickle bar was self serve as well as the bbq. Now a server brings you everything one tablespoon of bbq sauce at a time. The ribs were tough and chewy, the pulled pork has no flavor at all, the brisket was dry as a bone. The okra is so overcooked to "crispy" that they look like shriveled up belly buttons and there's zero actual okra left inside. To top it off, NOTHING was even warm. Their beans are decent but not anything special nor worth coming back for. There were 4 of us in our party and it was almost $100. Highway robbery! 3.5 I'll preface, BBQ is not in my top ten fav cuisines so take with a grain of salt. I ordered the 2 meat plate with brisket, great, and chicken, dry. Jalapeño corn was my favorite part of the meal, was delicious. Also had the Mac, standard, and had a bite of the hot links, good and HOT, for me. Service was outstanding, super helpful and attentive, above and beyond. From Seattle so would say I witnessed some of that southern hospitality. read more

Love this place!! Any time we come to OKC, we stop at Swadley's in Bethany. Service is outstanding and BBQ is great. I had a chopped brisket sandwich and my husband had pulled pork and sausage. Perfect! We always buy bottles of their terrific, mild and sweet sauce to take home. Thank you for a restaurant that has a positive environment and family atmosphere along with great food! We went through the swadley's drive thru Saturday and I got home with a completely different order by accident ..... I called and he gave me two $20 vouchers to collect at the store at my convenience. So tonight we went back they were soooo sweet and efficient. He gave us our meals plus free drinks & then at the end brought over some cobbler with ice cream on top. The whole staff was just so kind and friendly to my family on top of a great experience. 10/10 recommending the swadley's on 39th! read more

First let me say I can only review this location, haven't tried the others and I'm handicapped and have to use a walker so I always place orders to-go. I'm not sure what happened but this location used to be pretty consistent, not so much anymore. Stay away from the burgers, steak and meat loaf. They don't know how to cook them. Always have the consistency of charred hockey pucks. The other meats are pretty much hit or miss, sometimes really good but more often than not they are undercooked. On the plus side, the service is outstanding. read more

We have been eating Swadleys for years. I love their chicken. There have been times it has not been a good chicken, as something was off with that serving. The sides are good. Love the salad bar, but try not to eat it unless we are first at the restaurant, due to Covid. The service is always good, they always stop by and check on the table. Ordered sweet beans, was sent spicy beans that I couldn't eat. One dinner was missing a dinner roll. Chicken Fried Steak dinner overcooked and nearly burned. Totally gross flavor and texture. Same with the okra. Gravy recipe seems to have changed to a bland, peppery flour mix that is thicker and gelatinous. Stay away from the fried items! We paid a lot of money for a bunch of inedible food. Soooo disappointed and mad! Won't be ordering from there or visiting in store anymore. read more

I got the pork ribs and I can honestly say they where some of the worst ribs I have ever had. The ribs where covered in fat, there was so much fat it effectively glued the very small amount of meat to the bone. The ribs honestly didn't have any flavor, I had to cover it in BBQ sauce. My knife had something stuck to the side of it. The cloth "napkins" where very ineffective at getting food off your hands and mouth. read more

My wife and I love us so Swadley's BBQ! I always get the sliced brisket sandwich, with some beans and Mac and cheese. Don't forget the sweet tea as well! The dining experience is cool, and the pickle bar is even cooler! Service has always been spot on with great customer service and staff that is always accommodating. Poor quality food served out the window at 437 pm. Food looked like it was all left over from lunch buffet. Dried out okra, over seasoned & overcooked "Ranch potatoes", mashed potatoes tasted like n overbaked potatatoe mashed up with package gravy, old creamy corn, rolls were puny and undercooked. Pleasantly surprised. I had the Ultimate sandwich which was quite good. I think there was 3 meats including bacon. Love bacon!! This orange sauce they served with it had just the right amount of heat and flavor. The location was clean and well kept. A little pricey IMO, but otherwise a good spot. read more

They have some of the friendliest staff I have encountered in any restaurant.

Therefore, you order well in advance. I ordered around 9:45 am: Sampler, to be delivered at noon. Delivery was at exactly noon as requested. The Sampler from Double D's is a great value; $20 (including delivery!) for Ribs, Brisket, Pulled Pork, Hot Links, Smoked Sausage, Wings, Baked Beans, Mac n Cheese, Potato Salad, Cornbread. The only downside was that my meal did not come with any utensils or sauces. Perhaps this was an accidental omission? It's mostly unfortunate because sauce(s) would have helped several of the meats. I ended up using the baked beans as a functional sauce which might have even been better than traditional BBQ sauce (spoiler alert: I love the baked beans). The sides... Potato Salad: I'm not a fan of potato salad, so I don't hold it against them that this side did nothing for me. Mac n Cheese: I very much *do* like Mac n Cheese. A delicious combo pasta and cheese, this side does its job well. Pairs especially nicely with the sausage, hot links, and brisket. Baked Beans: Superb. Truly the best baked beans I've ever had. There are tiny pieces of chopped brisket which makes the side heartier than usual baked beans. Especially good with the... Cornbread: Dense, crumbly, decadent. By itself it's fine, but in tandem with another element (for example: the baked beans), it's fantastic. I would eat an entire meal of the cornbread and beans. So good. The meats... Wings: Smaller sized chicken wings, but packed with flavor. Everything edible falls off the bone, so eating them is not the usual messy wings situation. Very good. Brisket: Good BBQ staple. In Oklahoma, brisket is the go-to BBQ cut, and Double D's makes good brisket. Would have benefitted from BBQ sauce. Hot links & Sausage: Both are tasty. The hot links have a snappy casing around spicy meat. The sausage are smokier and mellower with spices. They're cut identically, but the hot links' red hue differentiates it from the browner sausage. Ribs: Quality cuts, smoked long enough so that the meat falls off the bone. Would have benefitted from sauce to give it some hydration and complimentary flavors. Pulled Pork: My favorite even though pulled pork is usually not my BBQ preference. The seasonings on this pork hit just right--pronounced but not overbearing. Like the brisket and ribs, the pulled pork could have used some sauce. Fortunately, the baked beans worked well as a substitute. Overall: I was very pleased with my first meal from Double D's. For $20, the sampler provides at least 2 meals' worth of meat.

This review is for the Double D food truck, which is opening a restaurant in October. The truck is parked at Portland Ave. and NW 17th on Fridays and Saturdays, which is where the restaurant will be. The food speaks for itself. The best pulled pork I've had anywhere in Oklahoma, and tied with the best I've had in Georgia, Tennessee, Kansas...Hands down, far and away, the best collards I've had anywhere, ever. (Please don't tell my grandfather I said that.) Seriously, the greens, I didn't even know they could be that good. Bonus that the two guys running it are super friendly, and clearly know their 'q. The food truck (an old travel camper) is nothing fancy to look at, but they have all their health and business permits right on the window, and whatever they're doing, it clearly more-than-works. My husband and I stopped here a couple weekends ago while spending the Summer in OKC. We both got the pulled pork sandwiches (special for the day), potato salad, and collards. The prices were standard and the servings were generous. I only wish we went sooner and more often. For anyone who lives in OKC, consider yourself fortunate with great food like this. For anyone who travels for food, this is a place to go. We'll definitely be back.
