Daddy daughter date night
Blake R.

Its been years since I was able to eat at Whiskey Cakes! We are in town for a volleyball tournament and wanted some good food. So the daughter and I headed on over to see if its still as good as I remember. Crab cake appetizer. You only get 1 but it had some great flavor with the remoulade sauce. The only negative was the tiny pieced shell in the crab cake. Unfortunately thats almost a given for fresh pulled crab meat. Farm salad was very fresh and had a great dressing. I believe it was a white balsamic vinaigrette. I ordered the ribeye,With garlicky spinach. The steak had great flavor. I wish it would have been more tender. But overall, the cut of steak was really good. My daughter ordered the New York strip with fingerling potatoes. The way she demolished that steak tells me that she was hungry and that it was delicious. Naturally, we ordered the whiskey cake for dessert and it did not disappoint. It was everything I remembered. From the spiced pecans to the bourbon cream sauce. I hope to stop by before I leave town and get another one for the road!

I was with a coworker group for dinner here since it was close to our hotel, and a few of us hadn't had it before! It's a beautiful restaurant on the inside with kind of cool mood lighting and great plants! Our server started out a bit bristly, but it ended up being good service. My favorite bite was the Brussel sprouts! My fish and chips were very good also. And the Whiskey Cake dessert is definitely worth the hype. The sauces are SO good. It's easily shareable for probably 5 or 6 people too. 4 of us couldn't finish it. It's a good solid restaurant choice for dinner if you're in the Penn square area!

Nice atmosphere. If your close by the mall or in area give this a try. It may not be my pick due to menu items. They use to have the best Pig sliders and also meatballs for a starter. It's been yrs since we have eaten here. A few expensive main meals and several fancy salads. They had 4 sandwiches and we tried 3 of them. Husband's BBQ Chicken was the best. Onion burger was ok. The other one not great. Fries or chips came with them but skimpy. We did have really good Brussels! Shared Cake was just ok, not as good as I remembered. So about 100.00 meal for 3 of us. Not a place We would probably return too.

It has been almost 8 years since I ate at this location. Went with a group of four recently for a late dinner. We were seated promptly and the decor had changed a bit--more plants at the entrance which I loved. The rosemary sprig was still on the table (which I also love). We sampled the Brussels sprouts which are on the appetizer menu. I would order them as a meal. Our waiter was a little snarky but it was probably because of me. :) For my entree, I tried the kale Caesar salad. The chicken was just OK. In fact, I wish I had ordered it without chicken. The Whiskey Cake made up for any missteps. That thing is amazing and there is plenty to share!

We were supposed to go to Sean Cummings pub to celebrate St. Patrick's day but they had no power due to storms so we made the quick decision to come here. We were not disappointed! The service was excellent. The staff here is very welcoming and gave excellent suggestions. The goat cheese fondue is one of my favorite appetizers EVER! If you like olives, garlic, and goat cheese then this dish is like a party in your mouth. I had the fish and chips which was absolutely amazing. The portion was HUGE! Our waiter explained that it's a whole cod filet instead of cod nuggets. Their tartar sauce is delectable. We tried hard to save room for dessert but couldn't do it. The ambiance is very nice here. It's an industrial/barn vibe. Definitely unique and warm. The prices here are high but I'd like to come back for the happy hour.

Cannot come to Whisky Cake and not get their whiskey cake for dessert.

At the Penn Square Mall, it can get pretty busy on the weekends. It's casual and modern, usually bustling and noisy. We are usually here after a long day of shopping. Must get is their Deviled Eggs, different kind every week. I got the Jessica Wabbit non-alcoholic drink this time and it was very good. The Brussel Sprouts are delicious. The Fish & Chips were very greasy and they were okay. The Pork Chop was humongous and they were decent. We always the Whiskey Cake cake for dessert, but it wasn't as good as before. The whipped cream wasn't whipped to perfection and the cake was a tad too sweet. Our server Ashlyn was super friendly and bubbly, maybe a tad too overzealous. But after a long day at the mall you want a place to unwind, they have decent food that are reasonably priced with great service.

Smoked Old Fashion. It was excellent!

Came here with some friends. 1) this place is big. Clean and welcoming. 2) Waitstaff is attentive. Service is good. 3) Food is delicious. Please give them a try!

You have to try this place if you are traveling to OKC. The whiskey cake is delightful and the onion dip and chips stole the show for me. I would honestly comeback to just have those two items alone. Our entrees all tasted great too. The inside of the restaurant gives off a farm to table vibe. Cute for a date night. The service was awesome too. I'm pregnant and she was able to get me answers to all my food questions.

Great food, nice service!!! Celebrating a friend's 60th birthday was a great idea because the menu was so varied and well-prepared. My order of hummus and steak and fries was perfect. I want to highlight that the house cake was incredibly good, and I'm still curious about the ingredients!

Note to self: dessert comes BEFORE dinner when it looks this good The Whiskey Cake at @whiskeycakeokc is one I still think about. It has all the most delicious ingredients in it: toffee, bourbon, spiced pecans, and homemade whipped cream (which is to live for). The cake is moist, yet firm - just how I like it Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and you'll be standing on business. Not to mention, ALL the food at Whiskey Cake is delicious! I love their deviled eggs, duck wings, and 3 Little Pigs. The service at the bar is excellent and it has a great easy energy about it. This is a perfect place to pop in, have great food, then go about your day full and happy #jade8that #wheretoeat #okcrestaurants #okcfoodie #whiskeycake #okcdesserts #deviledeggs

I normally really like this restaurant but this time wasn't the best. I was craving something flavorful and filling so I ordered the French onion burger. It was flavorful when I got bites of the French onion part but not filling. Also, charging $3 for a little bowl of plain mixed greens is ridiculous. They could at least include croutons or parmesan chips for texture and flavor.

They have a great whiskey collection and that is just one of the many reasons to love this place! If you're not a big whiskey fan, they have a lot of great cocktails and mocktails as well. It's great for lunch or dinner. I always get kind servers here and everything comes out tasting great. Ambiance wise- it's usually bustling with conversation & people and at night the lights are dimmed.

My friend and I met for lunch at Whiskey Cake. For me, this is my first time at this restaurant and I did enjoy the short menu. My friend and I both ordered the smoked tri-tip dip. The beef had a good smoky flavor, very tender and the ciabatta bread was soft and chewy. The french fries were a little disappointing. It was kind like they were sitting under a heat lamp for a while. We did order the famous Whiskey Cake which is a delicious toffee bourbon cake topped with pecans and whipped cream. There is a full bar, great customer service.

Ask the Community - Whiskey Cake

Are the tableside mimosas bottomless?

They are a bottle of bubbly, but each bottle is purchased per Tableside Mimosa. Once it’s at your table, you can pour at your whim!

What time is the happy hour?

They did have 2 Happy Hours, they call it Social Hour and it was 3-6pm and 9-11pm. Not sure if they still have the late one.

Do they have a breakfast menu on the weekends? If so what kind of menu do you provide?

Yes indeed, we serve Brunch from 9am-3pm both Saturday and Sunday.

Does the restaurant do anything special for birthdays?

Yes of course. However what we do often varies, and is dependent on the guest experience. Would you like me to set you up for the reservation?

Is this place considered expensive?

It is not particularly expensive, most entrees are around $10- $15. As with most restaurants there are a few pricey items like duck and steak that pass $20.

Just don't go here…read more I've lived here for 5 years and by far the worst restaurant experience I have had in Oklahoma, and if you see my other reviews I'm pretty forgiving and tend to give spots the benefit of the doubt. This is a place worth an absolute flaming of a review.... But they already wasted enough of my time and energy today so I'll just summarize. No management on scene, no hostess, one server, two bartenders and a restaurant at 50% capacity on Mother's Day at 1 p.m. From walking in to having our orders taken, 30 minutes. 45 minutes later our order of roasted vegetable salad, steak eggs Benedict, and sourdough toast arrived. Salad was very well burnt but my mom was trying to be nice and didn't want to walk out. Eggs Benedict came out with two eggs boiled through, a hollandaise sauce with a sour smell and cold steak. I didn't eat it and no one seemed to notice, had it removed from my bill easy enough, but again zero F's given and no management showed daylight. Wife's toast actually arrived 5 minutes after the 'rest' of the food and the only thing hot and delicious. Toast here is $11, so there's that. No one cares here. From the health violations and poor food safety I saw in the kitchen, the multiple tables I witnessed sending back food to the multiple parties puzzled as to why they weren't being sat or once they were entirely ignored... it was so wildly bad I was embarrassed for everyone else having the same experience. Again, don't go.

The patio space in the front was very secluded and lush, we had it entirely to ourselves. Our waitress was absolutely amazing. They even brought out a water bowl with ice for our pups. We loved our drinks. My espresso martini was boozy and not too sweet with a love whipped topping on top. Her Road to Hana was very refreshing and the pineapple tajin garnish hit the spot. Quick shout out to the dinner rolls and butter. I was starving so this held me over while our shareables came out. The Spicy Caesar was nice, loved the hit of heat that came with it. The Chicken Pepperjack Strudel, a signature dish, was really really good. Just wish it was warmer in the center but yea definitely order this. Juan's queso is not a typical queso dish. First, it's real cheese and it comes with a black bean puree, salsa verde, and avocado thinly sliced on top. We loved it, especially my wife. I came here with a large group of about 8 of us with a reservation made early on. We were seated in a nice, private room and had an overall very lovely experience! First of all, our server Trey was just spot on with all of his recommendations. He recommended the crab cakes, the halibut, and anything that came with the spicy shrimp risotto. Our table got crab cakes to start, and this was probably my favorite dish of the evening! The crab cake was large, fluffy, and full of lump crab topped with a spicy and delicious salsa verde and pico. For the entree I ordered the halibut which was cooked well, but the side of spicy shrimp risotto definitely stole the show (as Trey accurately predicted). Most of our party ordered this and everyone was pretty happy with it! For dessert, our table shared chocolate cake and the coconut creme pie. The chocolate cake was very rich and was probably one of the best chocolate cakes I've had, and I'm not a big chocolate cake person. I still definitely preferred the coconut creme pie, which I would order again next time! Our service was fantastic for the evening, and when Trey tells you to order something, trust him and do it!

The cornbread sticks and whipped butter they bring to the table is soft and salty and sweet and went great with our queso appetizer and my entree. For apps we chose the queso fundido and the tuna tartare. Both came with fresh chips that were puffy and perfectly crispy. I loved the tuna, it had a little bit of everything. Spice, salt, tang, creaminess! That luscious whipped avocado it sits on top of kept everything stuck together and easy to scoop up. The crispy queso was huge so I took the rest home. The cheese pulls were insane! Our table ordered the short rib, the filet, and the shrimp and grits entrees and everyone was so satisfied! My short rib was rich and tender and the red wine sauce was glossy goodness. Plus the gratin potatoes with the crispy edges and tons of cheese made the dish so comforting. Finally they brought me a chocolate cheesecake with a candle in it that reminded me of my mom's homemade fudge. It was divine and just melted in my mouth. Everything was excellent! Highly recommend and I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. FRIDA southwest thank you for starting off my next year with an outstanding meal and a very pleasant experience!

Five-Star Review: Rococo on Western…read more Rococo on Western continues to set the gold standard for upscale dining in Oklahoma City. From the moment you walk in, the service is nothing short of exceptional--warm, attentive, and perfectly paced. The staff makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit. But as great as the service is, the food is somehow even better. Every dish is crafted with the kind of precision and depth of flavor that only comes from decades of culinary mastery. The seafood is always fresh, the steaks are consistently perfect, and even the classics feel elevated. It's the kind of menu where you can't go wrong--every plate tells a story. At the heart of it all is Chef Bruce Rinehart, a true pillar of our community. His years of experience shine through every bite, and his commitment to excellence is matched only by his commitment to Oklahoma City. Bruce has built more than a restaurant--he's built a place where people gather, celebrate, and feel at home. Whether it's a dinner with friends, a special occasion, or simply wanting the best meal in town, Rococo on Western delivers every single time. Highly recommend.
