Cloud Puncher has an amazing Thanksgiving buffet with turkey, steak, fish, green beans, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, pasta, pumpkin pie, bread pudding, crackers and cheese, salad with apple slices, fruit, bread rolls, cornbread and more, and you can order an assortment of beverages from the bar like various juices - pineapple, orange, apple, cranberry - Arnold palmers, iced tea, and the bartender even made a nice hot chocolate and caramel cinnamon apple cider from scratch. Hence exceptional service on a whole different level. Amazing dining environment as well because you can eat outside (a bit cold) but see the ice skating rink and the cowboy lassoing a cloud. I just wanted to veg and not go searching for food on my recent stay at the hotel so I just went downstairs. Cool area and it was warm enough for it to open up to the deck area. I ordered the kale and peach salad but was told they didn't have it because it was seasonal. ? Why is it on the menu then? With the recommendation of the bartender, I went with the beet salad. I can judge a restaurant on their fried food so I ordered a side of fries. (Healthy, right?) My G & T was fine. The salad had some interesting flavors: beets (both roasted chunks and raw shaved slices), tomatoes, Manchego, pistachios, and a bit of citrus squeeze on top. It should have worked well but those tomatoes were totally bland. This should be a seasonal salad too. Bartenders were friendly. They were just setting up for live music when I was there, too. Other staff checked in on me and were welcoming ,as well. I will be back for cocktails again and the fries did pass the test. I think they are just still working the new out. read more

This is a new restaurant in The Lively Hotel in The Oak shopping center (N Penn and NW Expressway). You can park in the parking garage (free) and walk a short distance across the plaza or use the valet. We chose the valet. You walk into an elevator vestibule and take the elevator to the second floor. Signage is abundant. My complaint is that the hotel reception desk is in front of you as you enter the lobby area. We waited in line here instead because we didn't see the restaurant hostess stand. There is also a nearby door that goes to the pool and balcony so the area is very congested and confusing. We were in line behind a large family and their suitcases, passed back and forth by wet swimmers or people heading out and others waiting for restaurant reservations. Thankfully there was only one group in front of us. All this to say, walk towards the restaurant and you will find the stand and someone to seat you. This needs to be addressed. The restaurant is nicely decorated inside and the balcony/outdoor dining area is great. Our waitress was nice and helped answer questions about the menu. I don't think our questions were unusual and these are things she should've known and not had to go back to the kitchen (more than once). We ordered the Grilled Local Sausage Board appetizer. It was a good choice for our table of six. Everyone got all they wanted and we left some on the platter. Honestly it was too much of one note and became heavier with each bite. A charcuterie board would be a welcome replacement. Just adding cheese in place of some sausage would be welcome. Two guests chose the Red Oak Greens Salad. It can be described with one word, huge. For $11 it's a remarkable value. The two salads were shared amongst the six of us. The menu is small with some odd selections and unique spices. While some sound interesting no one was willing to risk $30-40 dollars. The Coffee Coriander Pork Loin was intriguing but coriander is a strong spice and can easily overwhelm a dish so I stayed safe with the burger. Venison interested no one and was the most expensive item on the menu. I've prepared it myself but have tasted some terrible dishes through the years. It seems a really odd choice. Four of us chose the Ultimate Onion Smash Burger, which was a bargain at $23 dollars. There were different temperatures chosen and the burgers came out cooked to perfection for each of us. Two others picked Bistro Steak Frites that were also well prepared. The romesco sauce was served on the side for fear of spice but both diners said the sauce was a delicious complement to the steak. It was a good experience overall. If I went back I would probably get the steak frites and dine on the patio. I'll probably wait for a menu reboot before returning. read more

First time dinner at Cloud Puncher. It's located on the 2nd floor of the Lively Hotel. It's all new as part of The Oaks development that is still underway. The restaurant is open and spacious with clean lines and modern decor. The menu offerings are moderate, but offer a range that will accommodate most appetites. We started with an appetizer of black eyed pea humus. It was outstanding! For our entrees, I ordered the red oak plank roasted salmon, served with vegetables, and Jan ordered the butter basted pan seared red fish. The red fish was topped with with grilled oyster mushrooms and served in a tomato citrus vinegarette. We shared each others fish, and I liked both, but gave the nod to the red fish. Loved the sauce. Both were very nice and the serving portions were just right. The wine offerings are meager. The atmosphere is languid and the mood or vibe is lethargic. It was Thursday night and there were just a few diners. The noise was low. The service was OK. The cost was moderate-high. read more

I'm thrilled we finally have a place like this in North OKC! It's the newest and trendiest spot to enjoy cocktails, whether indoors with a meal or outside on the second-floor rooftop patio. Since the evening was so lovely, we opted for the rooftop patio this time. The bartender, Abby, was incredibly knowledgeable and introduced us to a couple of bourbons. I tried Uncle Nearest bourbon in my old fashioned, and it was fantastic. I loved the patio it overlooks a beautiful little area with shoping and seating area.The bar is located on the inside and outside and so cozy and comfy . Excellent cuisine by an excellent staff! I was here with my seven-year-old son, and I love when servers and other staff are sweet to kids and pay attention to what they're saying and make them laugh. These days it seems like so many people are irritated by kids. I don't give them a time of day, but their staff was very friendly and loving to My Son. Now my above comment was specifically about the customer service, but I also want to mention their exquisite cuisine. I hear a few times while I was visiting Oklahoma City and I loved it every time I ate here. They have a great selection of food cooked to perfection. ESCAPE TO CLOUD PUNCHER Over the weekend I got to try OKC's newest restaurant and here's exactly what I tried & experienced at @cloudpuncher.oak It's on the second floor of the new Lively Hotel and upon entering, it's the perfect balance of sophistication and Oklahoma charm. We were seated right away and our waitress was pleasant. While they don't have a drink menu just yet, they do have a wine list I opted for a glass of rosé (I tasted the Albariño and Riesling, but they weren't the best). Now for the food Seoul-infused Confit Chicken Wing(s) - amazing flavor. The menu just says 'wing' but it comes with 4 Cavatelli 23 - huge portion with a ton of ingredients that went together well (great for leftovers) Bistro Steak & Frites - THE BEST FRIES EVER! The romesco sauce with the steak was out of bounds and it was cooked to perfection We ordered post-dinner aperitifs (an espresso martini for me, margarita for him) and both were terrible That is the only thing I would recommend they improve - better mixology and timing, as they were both undrinkable and took forever to come (also an espresso martini should come with coffee beans & this didn't have any) Overall, I give this experience a 7/10 and feel like they have the potential to improve once they've been open longer read more

Thanks to the reviews, we booked for brunch instead of dinner since they haven't gotten their liquor license yet. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of the Lively Hotel. The staff were welcoming and very friendly. We sat by the window, so we got a good view of the surrounding area. Their shakshuka was different from the ones I've tasted. It was almost like a baked egg stew. The consistency was thicker due to the ingredients, such as the chickpeas and beans. The flavors were all there, though. I wished the poached egg wasn't overcooked. Their overnight oats were amazing. The same goes for their made-in-house peach jam. We look forward to coming back when they get all situated. read more

Disappointed - we reserved the NYE pre-fixe menu. I thought the food was very average in taste, plating, and service than I expected. The menu started with three mini beef Wellington's, which were good in taste but had a small bite of steak in each. Next, the winter salad, which was hardly dressed in vinaigrette, dry, and was very lack luster. The server also failed to tell us each course as they were dropped off. The third course was supposed to be a carrot ginger soup, which was complete broth with three small croutons thrown in. The server also brought our soup course out without clearing our previous course plate.. The entree was supposed to be beef short rib with demi glace, goat cheese polenta, and roasted carrots - the short rib was over cooked, the polenta was hard and crunchy, but the carrots were great. Finally, eggnog cheesecake arrived, but my piece was not the same size as my partner's, obviously smaller, which was disappointing because we paid the same price expecting the same amount of food each. Needless to say, for $85 a person, we left wanting more, and will not return. This restaurant, at least for NYE, was clearly style over substance. read more

Located on the second floor of the Lively Hotel, Cloud Puncher overlooks an eventful courtyard of shops and luxury apartments in the skirts of Nichols Hills. The hotel lobby greets you as you exit the elevator; continue left and you will find to the mouth of Cloud Puncher. The softly lit restaurant is beautifully designed with cream colored walls and touch of mid century modern furnishings. The outdoor balcony is adorned with an assortment of comfortable furniture, heaters and a long fire pit. Great for socializing with friends or colleagues and undoubtedly going to be a hot spot for summer "rooftop" patio vibes. The bar is nice to grab drinks, however, does not currently show live TV. You will find it hard to catch a game while enjoying a beverage or dinner. I decided to dine this evening and ordered the corn bread and a French Red wine to start. The skillet baked corn bread has a cake like texture and is grilled. I found the grilled flavor and spiced butter a bit distracting and an ill-fitted pairing to the buttery delicacy of the dish. A friendly & agreeable conversation with the bartender granted an offering of regular butter and honey, which preferably was a more appealing garnish. For main I ordered the espresso encrusted pork loin; it comes with a side of pureed parsnip, fig apple jam and roasted carrots. Deliciously seasoned and perfectly portioned. Would definitely order it again. This venue has a wonderful staff all around. The bar/ restaurant managers & chef are incredibly talented. They curate seasonal offerings that are creative and a step above other local fairs. Even if you aren't staying at the hotel, I recommend this spot for young, professional couples or singles looking for a refreshing experience & night out. read more

I met two of my friends here for a small birthday dinner. We made reservations for 6:00 and were greeted/seated promptly. We ordered the Local Sausage starter (pictured) which was good. The "local" label comes from the apple persimmon compote which was unique. The taste was fine , I was underwhelmed when "baguette" = 3 slices of bread for a whole plate of sausage. They provided more when we asked for more, however I'd suggest making some adjustments. Give us a full bread basket, we don't mind paying extra! My friends got the Red Snapper and Salmon - they both loved their entrees and spoke highly of them. I did not get an entree so no comment there. Biggest ding to this rating - cocktail menu was advertised as launched on their socials, which was a big reason why we wanted to dine here. When we arrived sadly there was no cocktail menu. Staff said they were still working on it. Our bartender was great and was able to make a few mules that were pretty tasty. All in all the ambiance was great, server and bartender were very accommodating. I'd like to return and give this place another try in the future - after they get their footing. read more

We had a group of 12 people for a Saturday afternoon reservation. We were the only people eating in the restaurant. We had to ask multiple times for menus and silverware for all of us. I had to ask twice for the drink that I ordered. They struggled with getting the food out in a timely manner. By the time I got my food, the first people that had gotten their food were already finished eating. By the time the last person in our group got theirs, I had finished eating. This was so bad, I had to come out of retirement to write this. We ordered the B.Foster French toast. I am not sure if it was drenched in unsalted butter, or cooking oil. Zero flavor and made my stomach turn from only two bites. The piece I took a bite from had linen lint? I'm not certain if after it was drenched did someone try to absorb the oil from it, or? The Red Dirt dish had zero sausage and there were no seasonings, or salt (at all). If they did use a seasoning, tell us what brand so we avoid buying it. There would have been more flavor if they threw a hand full of red dirt into that dish! I think maybe they're accidentally using baker's butter, hence why there's no salt flavor, or anything for that matter. We ordered the potatoes extra crispy; it was the complete opposite. Ordered a bread sampler, if we got that, we only got compote/jam; where's the bread sampler? We ordered our eggs to be on the side, they were placed in the same box as the dish it was supposed to be separated from, so the eggs were in the food. Now, if it was just me complaining it could be said that maybe I'm having an off day. When you have two individuals who literally agreed that we have to throw it out and get food from somewhere else? That just sucks. $50 wasted. Four positives 1) The gentleman who took the order over the phone, was absolutely, FANTASTIC! 2) Smoked bacon if ordered by itself, would have made a 5-star review. 3) I am not certain if the compote is made fresh, but if it is... BAAAABBY. I was trying to smear it on the fosters and anything else I could, a woman was trying to save the food with it. 4) Gorgeous building. To be real.... If there's not an overhaul to the breakfast/brunch, there's no way I'd be intrigued to try dinner here. The lack of chef savvy and skills will trickle down to the dinner, where food only cost more. We stopped in for brunch at Cloud Puncher, and wow, what a treat! I had the *Ricotta & Honey*, which came with roasted pepitas, blueberries, lemon ricotta, and an apple compote. It was absolutely delicious--every bite was a perfect blend of flavors and textures. The sweetness of the honey with the crunch of the pepitas and the brightness of the lemon ricotta was just divine. My wife opted for the *Breakfast Quesadilla*, and it was such a unique twist. Filled with peanut butter, pecans, bananas, and toasted coconut, it wasn't overly sweet but incredibly filling and tasty. It had the perfect mix of crunch and sweetness, and she loved it. A special shoutout to our server, TJ, who was running the show solo this morning. She was impeccable--attentive, kind, and truly the brightness our day needed. I can only hope the world gives her all the good things, because she certainly deserves it! Host took awhile to seat us and had to find a place for us at the back of the restaurant. We were not given a drink menu or told about specials. Salmon was good. Steak frites were just okay- the sauce was nothing special. Would have been a higher score if our server hadn't forgotten to put in our food order. Not to mention, she didn't come by to get us another drink and forgot the corn bread from our order. We couldn't even order dessert because she didn't come by for us to ask. Wanted to try something new and Oak shopping area is just opening so we made our reservation at Cloud Puncher. It wasn't busy so you'd probably be ok without one. It is a mixed review. The service was spot on and just enough to check on us without being intrusive. The area is beautiful! Open, airy, with a fantastic looking patio we might have tried in warmer weather. The fire pit looked inviting but we stayed inside. The flip side was pricey and above ok food. We started with the whipped ricotta. Good flavor but overly toasted bread, maybe touches of black are the thing? I had the Cavatelli. The noodles were cooked well and there was a good amount of shrimp and crayfish. The sauce was a little bland and soupy, more like broth. I would have preferred something thicker to stick to the pasta instead of pooling in the bowl. My friend ordered the salmon and said it was good but the shaved vegetables were mostly squash and she didn't care for it. The Sloppy Joe Sliders included slaw and fried okra. We held the slaw and when we looked for the okra, found 3 pieces on the slider. Unusual and different than we expected. Overall for $40 a person (without drinks) it was a pricey experience that we can now say we've had. It is a lovely high end hotel restaurant that I would have enjoyed more if staying there on a business trip. read more
