The food here was absolutely delicious--I don't even know where to start! The coffee alone was one of the best I've had in a long time. We kicked things off with appetizers, and the choriqueso and beans with pork were incredible. My husband ordered the machaca, which was so flavorful, and I had the lamb birria--so good! I didn't get it. Really excited to go here with my wife, but the birria tacos came out within minutes of ordering. I waited 10 minutes after asking for my bill and less than 5 for the tacos. I appreciate fast service but am willing to wait for my food to be properly cooked and prepared. In the end, we got soft, soggy, floppy, birria tacos. I would have appreciated if they had any sort of crisp on them. Second taco in, I bit into a bone, took another bite and bit into a larger one. I was grossed out and done at that point. 2 tacos plates, $4.50 up charge per plate for rice and beans, margarita and a beer. $65 out the door. I'll pass. Won't be back. read more

OKC has a lot of locally owned Mexican restaurants, and this is one of the best. If the server asks if you want tortillas, always say yes. They are fresh and homemade. They also serve breakfast which I highly recommend. Chilaquiles and machaca are amazing. read more

We order one thing and they brought us something totally different and then look at us like we were dumb for saying thats not what i wanted. Ordered salsa especial usually its chunky and spicy this time it was extremely watery which took flavor away (pic included) ordered flour tortillas brought us corn tortillas that were greasy (pic included)ordered fried jalapeños brought us the toritos, then came back to tell thats what we ordered when we never said toritos we said fried jalapeños which is on menu on back page. when they bring us the fried jalapeños they put soo much seasoning it was hard to eat which you will also see in pic. I give the food 5 Stars. Service today was a 3. No one at my table received a refill or was even asked. I tried many times to make eye contact and let someone know that we needed refills. At one point, I was trying to get the attention of a worker but he was distracted, texting on his phone and he was only feet away. It felt like eternity before he finally got off his phone. I get that at moments the restaurant was very busy, and I was very patient. I waited. And I waited. And I waited some more even at times when it slowed down, our table was neglected. Not to mention, we specifically asked for a margarita, frozen and it came out on the rocks but I didn't want to add more to the stress of things so I let it go. Some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. Beans are delicious and fresh. Birria was very meaty and hearty. Consumme was spectacular, super flavorful. Prices aren't that bad considering the portion sizes. This place is a must try for anyone passing through okc. Service was fine, there were plenty of waiters around. I've had been looking forward to trying this spot for so long and finally pulled the trigger. Man what a let down. First, the service was horrible. No one even came to for over 10 minutes of sitting down. No one seemed over friendly or like they wanted to even be there. There was also a small child on a bike roaming around the small dining space. Again no one seemed phased. Now the food- we had to ask about chips and salsa. Finally we were given some. We noticed other has cheese dip so we asked both some. We were given a small container of cold thick cheese(?) dip. Finally we order. The beef fajitas, birria taco And ceviche. All bad. The fajitas barely had anything on the plate and the veggies are still semi raw. They had no seasoning or real flavor. The ceviche tasted like ketchup- kind of like maaaaaybe it was taken out of a cocktail? Lastly the meat in the taco was horrible- tuff, cold and unflavored. Such a disappointment. I always check reviews on yelp and decided to visit this location since they had better reviews than the location nearest me. I'm visiting OKC on business and I'm really happy to have stopped in. The service was exceptional! Server, Paul was so welcoming and attentive to my needs and his dimpled smile added to the ambiance. They were experiencing air conditioning issues but were more than accommodating to ensure customers were in the most comfortable spot. I was ok with the ceiling fans going and focused on the amazing and authentic food, exceptionally prepared, and simply delicious! Owner, Ricardo was also attentive, ensuring I was well cared for. Came here for brunch on a Sunday at 2:00 without a reservation. We arrived and I completely didn't realize we could have made a reservation on Yelp. Note to self - make a reservation! We ended up waiting 30 minutes for our party of 6. A party of 4 was able to walk in and be seated immediately before us. The restaurant was decorated with authentic decor and spacious. Definitely a busy place! Out of all the things we ordered, everyone enjoyed their dishes. The parrillada was awesome and even if it only is supposed to be for 2 people, it could definitely feed at least 3-4. The fajitas were fresh and sizzling. The shrimp a la diabla was very flavorful. Actually ALL of it was! The only item that was just okay was the birria tacos. Granted the consume was there and helped but the meat was dry by itself if you didn't dip it in consume. The first time I came here I was obsessed with the food. Second time I was very disappointed. It was very crowded when I first got here which didn't help the fact that it's so hot inside already. Server was good and our food didn't take too long to come out considering all the people but maybe it should have. My Birria taco didn't have much meat despite how it looks in the picture, it wasn't crispy at all, and the dipping sauce was way too salty. My taco was okay but the cheese wasn't even melted all the way. I don't think I will be back. I've found other amazing Mexican restaurants in the area anyways. read more

As you could probably tell by now, I can't tell squat whether Mexican food is good or bad. My reviews of Mexican restaurants are based on my vibe of those places. The good news is due to stepping out of the comfort zone, I've found Birria tacos are my go to entree now. Luckily the Birria tacos here are good and also a popular entree of the restaurant. What I love the most is the salsa. It's so good. Did I mention Birrieria Diaz is family owned and operated and has been in business for many years now? It's so busy but if you are by yourself or a party of 2, chances are there's a small table available for you. Lots of big parties (family) dine here. It's very well staffed which is a rare event to see nowadays. The best thing is they give you so much food and sauces/condiments for a really small price. You can't bargain against that. I would highly recommend everyone to give Birrieria Diaz a try even if Mexican food is not in your alley. P.S. Just spicy enough to leave a little burn in my mouth. I always go for the Lamb Quesabirria tacos. I don't even need a menu. I know it's my favorite thing at BD. I had been several times and every. single. time. those tacos are amazing. We went late, around 8.30 and I was very please to see they stayed open till 9.30p. Their staff is always friendly and prompt. I of course was starving because it was so late, but I swear those tacos came out hot and fresh in 7min flat. The tacos as well as the rice and beans were amazing. There was no messing that up. The taco flavoring with the fried onions and peppers matched the beef so well! The fish was just on the okay note. It wasn't great but it wasn't horrible either. It was a little bland but like I said, it was still good as long as you season it a little to your liking. The food here is absolutely exceptional. I am lucky because it's pretty much my local place, but I would absolutely drive across town for dinner here.
