Chef Koumbis 405 and I stopped in for lunch after our original plans fell through, and what started as a backup option quickly turned into one of the best meals we've had in Oklahoma City. The experience started with their house-made sauces and a fantastic dip trio featuring fresh guacamole, creamy queso, and salsa. Everything tasted fresh and made from scratch. Then the tacos and tortas arrived. The Birria Torta was packed with flavor, and the quesabirria tacos were outstanding. The homemade blue corn tortillas were crispy, flavorful, and held together perfectly from first bite to last. Paired with their rich, savory consommé, it was easily some of the best birria I've had in OKC. What impressed us most was the attention to quality. Save your money, This place is so over hyped. The food is flavorless. I bought some overpriced Tamales that were missing meat and dry masa. The taco's are no better with the extra dry tortilla. One young lady server was running around behind the counter, helping the to-go station, and later helping out in the kitchen. Another lady appears to be dedicated to the to-go station. This review is about a catering pickup. I placed the order more than 48 hours ahead of time according to their policy for catering. I expected it to be ready at the 4 pm pickup time that I specified. When I walked in, only 3 tables were occupied by diners, and there was no line at the counter. However, when I said I was there to pick up a catering order, the employee gave me a look that said he was unprepared and didn't know about my order. He called someone on the phone to discuss the matter. Then after a short while the staff in the kitchen increased from 2 workers to 6 workers. They started working on my order. It was ready 25 minutes after I arrived. A worker helped me take it to my vehicle in the parking lot. Since I had both of my children with me, I appreciated the help. I expected to wait 5 minutes for them to locate my prepared order. Instead, I waited 25 minutes and was late to the next event for my family that day. I've been to the food truck a few times and finally had a chance to visit their new location. It's a nice space inside, even including a bar for cocktails if you want. We came early and the frozen margaritas weren't ready yet, but the regular strawberry margarita was very delicious. I ordered the nachos and my friend got the tacos. I've has the tacos many times and already know how delicious and flavourful they are, I was ready to try something new. I enjoyed the nachos as well. Full of flavor and they give you lots of toppings. The service was great, we were there during lunch, so it wasn't very crowded, but she was still very attentive and checked on us often. Really great food! Stopped in for dinner when we found ourselves in the neighborhood, and so glad we did. A fast kitchen and bar with homestyle Mexican food that tastes as good as it looks. We tried a bit of everything--chips & queso featured hearty fried chips with cilantro garnished white queso; the chicken bowl was a filling and healthy mix of protein, veg, and carbs; the fried fish taco was hot and fresh, with a blue corn shell, avocado, creamy sauce, and red cabbage; pork tamale was perfectly spicy and tender, and the steak torta was delicious, the bread perfectly lightly crispy, stuffed full of tender meat and fresh veg. Really frustrating dealing with this place. I've been a customer several times, and the last time I placed an order for pick up, I got home and had the entirely wrong order. I didn't have time to go back, so I called them to let them know that they've given me the wrong order. The lady that answered the phone knew right away that they had given me the wrong order and told me the next time when I came in to call and let them know and they would take care of it. So it's been about two weeks and I called today, and they would not honor their commitment. They kept arguing with me about who I talked to and how long ago it was. I don't remember who I talked to, and it's been two weeks and I told him that. They said if it had been two days ago that would be OK but not two weeks. I said who orders tacos from you every two days? So I told him rather than honor their commitment, they can lose a customer. That's what they've chosen to do And I will no longer be a Customer. A solid taco spot with good flavors and unique tortillas and hot sauces. The pineapple hot sauce is my fav, but they are all good. Meat quality seems to be slightly lacking, with a lot of noticeably inedible pieces (across several visits), but a certain amount of this is to be expected in the average taco spot. A bit more spot trimming would give better customer experience. The burrito is very uninspired, with a disproportionate amount of rice and the taco ingredients are just thrown in haphazardly, leading to bites of pure rice. I say charge more and put less filler. Or remove the burrito entirely. The tacos are all designed to be explosive in flavor and proportionally balanced. The burrito just seems like an afterthought "throw taco filling into a larger tortilla with rice." This could just be a burrito assembly issue, but I would never order it again to find out, so who knows. My girlfriend loves the taco salad with shrimp. read more

Being patient paid off!!! Finally I had the opportunity to eat here and it did not disappoint!! The food was excellent and flavorful!! There are several things on the menu I can't wait to try! Stopped in for date night. We ordered the dip trio and the queso and guacamole and chips are to die for! The chips are probably the best I've ever had, anywhere. The salsa is good but I like lots of flavor. This is a bit muted. They have a salsa that you can get at the counter that's mango something and it's delicious! He got the burrito and it was HUGE! He said it was awesome. I had the fried shrimp street taco and the green tamale. The tamale was good but they said the one that's the best they were out of so I'll go back and try the other two. This past Cinco De Mayo my boyfriend and I went to an event at Scissortail Park. I remember it being a hot and humid day and there were several food trucks to choose from. We chose Taco Empire and were extremely happy with our choice! I forgot all about how hot it was, as I was satisfying my hunger with delicious food! I started following them on social media and fast forward to a few weeks ago. We saw they were having a grand opening on November 19, 23 at their new brick and mortar location and you would get a free chips and queso with you order. We walk into a nice clean establishment. It wasn't overly busy at all. Walked right up to the register and placed our order. The gentleman at the counter wasn't exactly welcoming or inviting. He never mentioned the free chips and queso with our order, I had to ask. Food took a while. We got the chips and queso after our food. Queso wasn't flavorful and I was glad I didn't spend money on it. My boyfriend got his quesabirria tacos, beans and rice first. My food came several minutes later. I got the fish taco, steak taco, and elote. The quesbirria tacos were great! Lots of meat and cooked to perfection. Very flavorful! My tacos were good, but they were cold. It was as if they were just sitting there and maybe they forgot to bring my food when it was ready. Rice was solid and the beans were okay. The elote (corn) was not what I was expecting at all! It was cut in a funky way and covered in oil! It was greasy and lacked flavor! I wouldn't recommend it. I will say that I left highly disappointed! It's not that the food was horrible, but the quality wasn't the same as what we had out of the food truck and it was just all underwhelming. I also felt like service wasn't the greatest. This is the grand opening ... no one asked us how the food was, and your serving cold food? This is a time to shine and present your best to make people want to come back. Right when you walk in you are hit with the strong smell of Fabuloso. So incredibly overpowering it's actually all you can smell, honestly I could taste it with my food it was so strong. The steak burrito tasted so bad I couldn't take another bite. The grilled shrimp burrito made up for the steak one, it was great. I stopped by this place on the way home from Costco and I didn't really know what to expect but WOW, I was impressed by the effort that goes into the protein flavors here. I got the adobada and the steak fajita tacos. The blue corn tortillas were soft and thick and held together well, stuffed with a good amount of meat, onion and cilantro. Both flavors were great. The fajita wasn't rubbery and had a complex flavor profile to it. And the adobado blew me away, it almost had a smoked chile taste to it, hard to describe but so delicious. Worth the $3.75 a taco! We had a Fish taco, steak taco, Empire salad with steak, elote and chips and salsa. Here's what we thought: Fish taco and steak taco were good, as good as the other taco places. Empire salad was good, but not what I expected. But flavors were good and I ate every bite. Elote- all I can say is - DELICIOUS! I wanted to lick the chili oil out of the bottom of the dish in which it was served. Chips and salsa was worth paying the extra. They fry their own corn tortillas and they are nice thick salty chips. Loved them. Salsa is very good, mild heat. They have three other salsas at their little bar that you can get your own in small containers. A mild verde, medium red and hot pineapple. All delicious. When you pay, be sure and tell them if you're paying cash. A sign on the cash register indicates a fee for using a credit card. All prices are rang up in credit card prices (+3.5%) and then the cash discount is applied. We payed cash and then asked for a receipt. It had the credit card charge added on with no discount for cash. The cashier didn't have a clue what I was talking about, so she got her manager and he did a new receipt and payed us back the cash overcharged. So be sure and check that you get cash price if you pay cash. Customer service is great and they are all very friendly. As of today they don't have their air conditioning installed yet so it was quite hot inside (100 degrees outside). So if you can't take the heat, get it to go until they get AC! I'll definitely go back. It's close to home and I want to try their burritos and Birria tacos but we were too full tonight! read more

Ordered some food to go the other night after having tried their truck previously and enjoyed it. The new place is very clean and spacious, definitely a nice plate to sit down. I ordered to go, so I didn't get to see their service. But ended up ordering a steak torta and a steak quesadilla. We had the quesadilla before but the torta was something new we wanted to try. I thought we would have the same experience from the truck, but it just wasn't the same. The torta was huge, but it had an inherently sweet taste that was a little off putting as we aren't typically used to eating tortas that are sweet. They may be trying to take a froufrou approach with the food since they opened up their location, but I enjoyed the roots they had at the truck. The quesadilla was fine this time around compared to the first. I could have sworn they used mozzarella which is fine, but it's not what I'm used to in an authentic quesadilla and not what I remembered when we got food at the truck. Maybe it was an off night, but we left a little disappointed than when we had them at the truck. Definitely willing to try again since we did enjoy them the first time which is the reason for the 4 stars, but hopefully next time reminds us of the quality we got from the truck the first time. read more

This use to be a good truck and now they are a restaurant. We came here in a busy weekend night, place was packed. The food was good. I like the flavors and the quality. Only negative was the chips that came with our dip trio was not fresh. It was fried and it was hard. Wished it was thin and crispier. I love that they give you a variety of food. I got 4 different tacos, 1 pork tamale, trio dip, and a quesadilla with fries for my 4yo. The different types of sauces they had were delish. Gotta try the pineapple hot sauce. It was yummm! The flavors of the tacos were fresh and the pickled slaw was perfect. I'd eat here again for sure and try other items on their menu. I want to try the burritos and the tortas. They had a variety of Mexican drinks to choose from and a soda fountain. They didn't have any horchata when we went but I do wan to try that next time. The place is open and lots of tables. Taco Empire immediately impressed me with their tacos and burritos and then continued to excite my senses with their multiple salsas and hot sauces. The steak burrito was generously stuffed with quality meat and fillings and the tacos, with their soft and chewy blue corn tortillas, were a really pleasant surprise. The Al Pastor tacos were particularly delicious. Another favorite was their spicy hot sauce, a mix of pineapple and chilis that were spicy but not so spicy that you'd stop enjoying your food. I was kinda hoping for spicier but the creaminess and mix of sweet and heat really played well with our food. The restaurant itself is well maintained, modern, and clean, and the employees were all working hard from front to back, taking on opening day jitters like champs.
