This is an extraordinary locals bar It was very fascinating seeing all those dollar bills covering the walls and ceilings. The service from the bartender was very polite and quick. They have a really big patio and plenty of space for a large groups. The prices were reasonable and it's just a really fun atmosphere. I'm not sure if they serve any food here or not. Oh dear Edna's. What can I say about this staple of OKC that hasn't already been said? I mean, really? Yes, it's a dive. Yes, it's packed on the weekend nights wall to wall with people, but that's why when I had out of state visitors we went during the afternoon for our lunchboxes. #Daydrinking am I right? First time at Edna's last Thursday after work. Have known about Edna's for years but decided to try it out after recently reading reviews about OKC bars that was very favorable for Edna's. The review enticed us to go. We were greeted by a door man with the personality of a rock. He asked for ID which we produced. He later delivered our food with that same dour demeanor. That is the first time in forever that I have been I'D at a bar. That's an indication that they have had problems with the Abel commission and are on a short leash. Edna's meets the definition of a dive bar: "A dive bar is a small, casual, and often inexpensive drinking establishment with a grungy, seedy, or disreputable tone". If you're into that kind of scene, this is your place! The bar tender came to our table and took our drink order. Opposite the door man, she had a lovely personality. We ordered a couple of beers, chicken wings, cheese sticks, and fried pickels. The chicken wings were good, rating them a 4/5. The cheese sticks were good, rating them at 4/5. The fried picked spears were excellent, rating them at 5/5. At 5:30 the crowd size was moderate, the noise low. No music was being played. The menu was sticky nasty, leaving my hands sticky. I laid it down and went to the restroom to wash my hands. It left me wondering about the kitchen. I have always believed that if you can't get the little things right, you probably aren't getting the big things right. The prices are reasonable. Two orders of wings, the cheese sticks, fried pickels with 3 beers came to $51.00. After researching top dive bars in OKC, I made a visit to Edna's. To say this doesn't qualify as a dive bar is an understatement. It's modern, security is set up outside the door to wand you to check for weapons, there is a DJ playing dance- type music and the only type of personality the place shows at all is the dollar bills all over the wall. Located on Classen Edna's is an old-fashioned bar that just happens to have really good food. The menu is limited, but the listed items are solid choices. We had heard that the small plates were tasty and we were there to test them out. First Edna's is now my go to spot for fried pickles. Perfectly fried, juicy, with just the right amount of zing. Edna's this is a more complex review for me. I'd love to give them a higher rating, just a few key details that led to a 3 star. The most important thing is emptying the trash cans. The trash cans are so close to the tables when they are full you can smell it on the floor. It was the most horrific smell I've ever smelt, totally ruined my experience. I also had a hard time at the bar, the bartender (a woman) looked over me more than a handful of times. A little annoying, it was like hello I'm here. Luckily I had a guy notice how often I got looked over, not sure if he frequents ednas a lot but he was able to get her attention. Some highlights they have the best fried pickles I've had in OKC. They are spears, not the little cut ones. Fried perfectly, the breading stuck nicely to the pickle. I literally ordered three orders each order was consistent. The fried pickles will have me going to Edna's again. The drinks are fairly cheap, I tried a lunchbox not my personal favorite. it's very popular, worth a try. I may have drank it wrong, most people drank it like a shot. I tried to sip it lol as I was sipping everyone else was finished. I may try to take it all the next time I visit Edna's. Why are you not checking cards at the door or checking when someone orders alcohol? You must not be that worried about it. It was purely a discriminatory act. So BEWARE if you are not OBVIOUSLY 60 years old and a regular, they will harass you as soon as you walk in. All this would be perfectly fine if he just politely asked me for my ID. This place is a locally famous dive bar known as a spot to get absolutely trashed on its cheap, free-flowing Lunch Boxes. If you're a lightweight or not a heavy drinker, approach with caution. Lunch Boxes are sneaky, go down fast (local tradition is to kill them in one gulp as if they were a shot), and get handed out to strangers like pamphlets at a State Fair. They're so cheap that if someone isn't sure how many to order for a group, most will just buy a few extras knowing they can hand them out. If you're not careful, you'll suddenly find yourself wondering how you ended up with the worst hangover of your life when your tab was only $7. First off, was greeted by Kate the bartender who right off the start was super friendly and social, she quick to realize that it was my birthday weekend and wished me a happy birthday. Then we got the lunchbox 3 of them including the secret zombie box after that I didn't know what I wanted to drink so I asked Kate to make me whatever she wanted, she made a killer koolaid which was killer so good and tasty which Indeed messed me up lol. Edna's is the home of the original lunch box drink. My friends who live in town had not heard of Edna's but we were invited to go. I almost opted out but am glad I didn't. It is a fun atmosphere. We opted to hang outside which is spacious and has lots of options including corn hole and fire pits. The waits at the bar are long so settle in. The drinks are cheap at $5.50 and have lots of choices. The juke box has one of the best selections that I've seen but I spent $1 to play a song and used the play next button. We were there well over an hour but I never heard the song. I think the primary complaint by our group was the long wait to the bar. If you have never been here, it is tricky, especially if you are coming southeast on NW Expressway.
