We were visiting family for a wedding in Stillwater. We wanted to try a local BBQ spot and this one was nearby so we gave it a shot. We came in with a party of 9 for an early dinner, late lunch. I did notice a patio type area with a sand volleyball court which looked pretty cool, but we did not participate in this entertainment option. The place was mostly empty so we were seated right away. We ordered upon entering and got a variety of meats on a platter just so we could try different cuts. We sat down, I went to the bar to try and find some local beers to pair with the food. I got some recommendations from the bartender which turned out to be really good. Sadly I don't remember the name of either one. The BBQ turned out to be very tasty, good cuts, good flavor. Staff were friendly, helpful with the menu since none of us had ever been to a BBQ place like this. I would definite return if I'm ever back in the area. It is very much worth the price of entry. Enjoy and cheers! read more

This place is BBQ at its finest! A huge parking lot, plenty of seating, super clean, a quick line, and friendly staff. That's a great combination in my book. But it gets better! The bbq is amazing! Perfectly seasoned and cooked, no overwhelming flavors, and delicious sides that complement the meat. This place is perfect and I'm looking forward to visiting as many times as possible while in town. read more

Smokin’ Joes Stilly - 2 Meat Dinner - Barbeque Near Me - Stillwater, Oklahoma

I went here with my elderly parents. I got the brisket sandwich with fried okra. I love my sandwich and okra. There was a large amount of meat on the sandwich. I ended up taking some of it off and taking it home for supper. My parents had the pulled pork sandwich and a salad. They were not as happy. The pork was in large chunks with big pieces of fat, they pulled out the fat and shredded the pork into smaller pieces. They liked the flavor but assumed the pork would be shredded and not in chunks. The food seemed pretty pricey also. I eat bbq fairly regularly and this was pretty high. $18 for a sandwich and one side was on the high side in my opinion. read more

If you like this location....try the original in Davis Oklahoma its worth the drive! The portions are bigger and the people are wven friendlier. Their barbeque is good but Cherokee Strip is better. They do have better sides than Cherokee strip though. Still love this place...worth the $. read more

Really appreciate this place being open on Labor Day, when a certain competitor we intended to eat at was closed. The brisket was absolutely delicious, and they weren't stingy with it either. Good BBQ sauces too. I order fried okra any time I can get it, and here it was as good as it gets. The pinto beans and a hot link were both good, but next time I think I will experiment with other menu items. Never had this happen before, but when I spit out what I thought was a bit of bone, it was a piece of my plastic fork. Looked at my fork and the recovered piece, and some was still missing; I had swallowed part of it. An upgrade of the plasticware is the only change I would make at Smokin' Joe's. I like the cash discount much better than a credit card surcharge. They are two sides of the same coin, but the surcharge folks are charging you more money than the posted price, whereas the cash discount folks are charging you less. Last and least, I was delighted to see a poster for my favorite Western, "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly", on a wall. That was about the time I realized this is my new favorite BBQ place in Stillwater. read more

A wonderful BBQ experience. Large parking lot and a 5 minute wait in line to order. The food is brought to your large table, which is already equipped with 2 rolls of paper towels. And the food is delicious; it's difficult to stop eating. You get your own utensils and drinks. Restaurant is very clean and filled happy, soon to be full people. For a large room I noticed it was on the quiet side; either good acoustics, or simply because everyone is too busy eating to talk. read more

5 stars !We found this on our way home from Lost Creek Safari. We wondered if just as good as the Davis one. It is ! Not same owner but good. Big place that has a volleyball ball court next to it. Betting it gets crowded some nights since they have benches on the outside. Very friendly. Coleslaw super good ! Okra good. Potato salad real creamy. Sliced Brisket was really good. Chopped was alittle greasy. About an hour from OKC, kinda hidden back from street. read more

If you're looking for a good barbecue spot in Stillwater, this is the place to go! Casual and family friendly, Smokin' Joes delivers on the promise their title brings: that perfect smoky flavor you want in your meat. The prime rib and the ribs are melt in your mouth delicious. Interestingly enough, the brisket wasn't super impressive when I had dinner there, but I took it home and the reheated leftovers were really good. Make sure you try their banana pudding because it is scrumptious. read more

Nice big place service fast and good. Ribs bone dry and stringy, brisket way over cook really dry, potato salad good heavey on mayo, cowboy beans 0 taste. Had lunch @ 11:15 meat seemed to be yesterdays heat ups, hope it was cause it was some of the worst fresh meats if so. 2 meat was plenty of food ate only what wasn't dry and stringy.Mac's in Skiatook and Bad Brads in Pawhuska are way superior to this place, not much smoke flavor. read more

I called this afternoon to place a pick up order. I was put on hold briefly while the person checked to make sure my requested item was available. I was told there was one left. I ordered it and asked that my name be put on it. I was told it would be ready in about 10 minutes. I said it would take me 20 minutes to get there. When I arrived, in just under 20 minutes, I was told that it had been sold to someone else. The manager acted like it was no big deal and said there were lots of other things I could order. I went to Bad Brad's instead. The food was a little more expensive but just as good. read more

I was passing through town today and decided to give this place a try. I am very biased and opinionated on BBQ having grown up in Texas and having some of the best BBQ on earth there. I digress. I ordered a brisket sandwich, cut lean with an order of beans. I received a 85% fat and 15% meat sandwich. It was utterly disgusting and the meat was sliced in thick slices. I picked out the edible meat and tossed the other away. The beans were not great either. No taste or flavor. What a waste of 20 bucks. I will not stop here again. read more

First off, I've been here four times and have found the food quality to vary quite a bit. The ribs have been good every time, and the burnt ends are great! However, the brisket was way too dry every time and pulled pork was dry three times. I will not order those two meats again. The worst thing of all is that I paid $44 for a prime rib that was overcooked to the point that I was shocked they would serve it. I saved most of it and took it home to make a stir fry the next day. The flavor of every dish was perfect, but they have to up their cooking/smoking methods if they want to be a truly great BBQ restaurant. read more

We need this in Tulsa! Unbeatable meats, massive portions, tasty sides, and cool, huge atmosphere. The pulled pork, brisket, and polish sausages could not have been fresher or moister. My group's eyes lit up looking at the portions provided. The fried okra and potatoes salad (white instead of yellow) were amazing too. Even the toasted butter bread was heavily buttered and so good; I usually skip this item but ate it all! The inside reminded me of being back in Texas. Wood theme lodge feel with a few TVs and tons of wild game animal hangings. Nice, clean space. The outdoor volleyball space looked too. Highly recommend! read more

Smokin’ Joes Stilly - 2 meat dinner plate - Barbeque Near Me - Stillwater, Oklahoma

Extremely disappointed in this restaurant. I have eaten here numerous times before but today was the absolute worst experience ever. I ordered my 3 meat dinner of ribs, brisket and pulled pork with fries and mac n cheese at 5:31 pm. Keep in mind NONE OF THESE ARE SPECIAL ORDER! I ordered before a party of 12 and at least 4 or 5 parties of 4. The party of 12 gets ALL their food, then a couple of the parties of 4. At this point I have waited patiently for 20 minutes. I asked the cashier if I had been forgotten and she just shruggd her shoulders and said she would have to go check and then proceeded to take 2 more orders before I had to tell her to go check on my order. It is now 6 pm. She returns to tell me they are working on it, hmmmm did they have to go kill the cow? After I had to ask 3, yes 3 more times to check on my order; at 6:13 pm another lady brings out my food. I got a "here you go" Wouldn't an "I'm sorry about your wait" or "how can we make this up to you" make things better, but I got NOTHING! I asked for the manager and I was told he left at 5 pm and he would be back tomorrow when he got here! WOW! I have never been so disappointed in customer service in my life. This restaurant doesn't deserve a star, a negative 5 would be more sufficient. It would be beneficial to do some training on customer service skills and how to apologize for the inconvenience of someone waiting 42 minutes for a 3 meat dinner that I guarantee is served multiple times throughout the day. Terrible! No other way to describe but TERRIBLE! read more

We came in for lunch one day during the week and there was a good crowd there. The place is pretty big so we were able to find a table. The food took about 10 min or so to get. We ordered brisket, mac n cheese, cheeseburger, fries, and wings. Everything was really good! This is the only BBQ spot we have tried here in Stillwater so far, but so far I'd say this one is the best yet. We'll see. I would definitely come back! I really loved the wings and brisket! That was my favorite! read more

Beware - had the lunch special today - a pull pork sandwich and fries - the cost $30.00. That's right - my bill was $30.00. I've heard of living high on the hog - but this is ridiculous. I won't be back - these prices are insane. read more

We were looking for great bbq and my Yelp reviewers didn't do me wrong, this place is great. From the look of the restaurant, outdoor volleyball courts and the smell of smoking meats, this is true BBQ! Prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food you get. My gigantic son and I actually split the 3 meat meal and we're full. Service was great and love hearing the real southern accent! The atmosphere is perfect, lots of taxidermy on the walls and OSU fans everywhere. Highly recommend the Brisket and half chicken, along w the Mac and cheese and fries. Hot links were hot but not really flavorful and the beans were simply boiled with meat and pepper, so wouldn't go for those again. Overall, great place and a must if you're in town. Okay, have to add this! We saw a tray of banana pudding go by so we had to try it...it did not disappoint! Make sure to finish off your meal with your own or share one...but probably your own! read more

Good Lord! The portion sizes here are the largest you can find anywhere in Oklahoma. The food is amazing but be careful, just the one meat dinner is enough for two. I ordered the ribs and got the four largest ribs I have ever seen. I was only able to get through three of them and gave the other one to one of my friends. There is no way you will ever leave this place still hungry. read more

Now I'm no expert on barbecue. Not at all, but I know what I like and what I don't like, cause I know what my taste buds enjoy and don't. I also am looking for good value for the money I pay. My family and I have been to Smokin Joe Stilly a couple of times. It's a bit outside of Stillwater. And has a big beach volleyball court outside. Which makes me chuckle because I was born and raised in HI, and HI is known for their beach volleyball. My aunty actually plays every single week. And also goes to college volleyball games. She's a fanatic. Anyhow that's neither here nor there. It just lends itself to the atmosphere of the restaurant. When we have gone there I've gotten their ribs, pulled pork, brisket and bologna. Now again I'm no expert. And I didn't know that smoked bologna was a thing. And it was good. I wasn't necessarily impressed with it. But I'm not judging the restaurant on just the bologna. I mainly judge a barbecue restaurant on their ribs, brisket and pulled pork. I also judge them on their portions in relation to the prices. The prices were decent in comparison to some other places I've been. The batch of pulled pork I had was ok, albeit a bit dry. The brisket and ribs were good. And I always prefer when the meat comes out dry. I'd rather dress it with the sauce I want. Mainly cause I'm picky that way. The first time my husband wanted to try the bologna but wasn't all that impressed, so when we went back he didn't get it. We both thought the pulled pork was meh, but he loved the ribs and the brisket. I'm not a brisket person. But the ribs to me were good. I like my ribs tender but not falling off the bone tender. I still like some of the meat stuck to the bone. The service was ok. The one thing that I always have a hard time with is going up to a counter to order, and then the food is brought to me. Maybe that's just me but I prefer having the order taken at the table. I did order their strawberry cobbler. But for some reason they mistakenly gave me the wrong one. It was fixed immediately. So that was fine. The biggest thing that's hard is how far on the opposite side of town the restaurant is. If you're new to town and don't know the area well you might miss it because of where it is. Otherwise definitely try it. It may not have as many choices on the menu as other restaurants but it's worth trying at least once. read more

Went here early evening with our three kids under 4. Advertised as a place to grab some bbq and beers. Food came out quickly which was great but that was about it. No one was at the bar to serve drinks but staff/management from the back were out on the patio having beers, assumed they helped themselves. This place has potential but mediocre flavor at best. read more

This is our second time here, overall a good experience. It's a unique location, clean and has a nice atmosphere. Service is nice, there is an gentleman who is very kind and sociable who always checks up on everyone. He has been there both times we have been there. They offer large portions of food. I ordered the ribs with coleslaw and fries. My husband ordered the sliced brisket and pulled pork, Mac and cheese and cream corn. We usually share our food so we can try everything. We really enjoyed the ribs, pulled pork and sides. The brisket was good, but of the three our least favorite. read more

This place has a very cool setup, and the food is high quality. This was my first opportunity to try smoked prime rib, and they knocked it out of the park. My only regret was not having more of an appetite so I could try a few more smoked meats. The sides were also solid, with the mac being particularly good. The only kind of weird thing was the split setup with all alcoholic beverages being available separately at the bar by the beach volleyball court. It's a bit inconvenient to have to stand in two separate lines, but it wouldn't stop me from returning. It's a cool spot with outstanding bbq, and you should definitely check it out. read more

3pm out of sliced brisket & polish sausage and the girl says I don't even know how's that's possible cause there hasn't been anyone here all day. Potato salad was the consistency of pudding. For 2 baskets with potato salad, chopped brisket, Texas toast and 2 sweet teas it was $50. Wouldn't eat here again read more

Barbecue is always good. The potato salad is great! The prices are high so we don't go there often.

Went for the special smoked prime rib and we got the last two pieces. While maybe a little overcooked, the flavor was amazing. It came with two sides, we tried the Mac and cheese and the cowboy beans, both very tasty. Nephew ordered brisket and sausage with fries and homemade cream corn. Everything was very good, both bbq sauces were so tasty! One was mild and another spicy, I got a piece of peach cobbler to go. The food was great for Oklahoma BBQ and very quick service. Will return! read more

I'll preface this with it was Monday at lunch. So maybe their a team wasn't at the pit. But for 22.50 I got brisket that was bland and no smoke flavor, average creamed corn, and cold Texas toast. I'm new to town, and big on BBQ so I was excited to try this place after reading the reviews. It wasn't bad, it was pretty alright. I had asked for fatty brisket and these slices were pretty dry. I didn't have any of the ribs but my boyfriend said the ribs were really dry as well - likely a result of keeping them under warmers all day OR from when they reheated the meat. The Polish sausage was incredible, and the coleslaw was probably some of the best I've ever had (they put green apple slices in theirs)! Not a fan of the baked beans - they were more like Smokey pinto beans... sauce was savory and watery instead of thick and sweet like you imagine when you order baked beans. Fries were average but the potato salad was creamy and had a hint of vinegar that we really enjoyed. The service was fine, mostly college kids serving. And the atmosphere was standard, lots of stuffed deer heads and antlers - great if you're in to hunting. The best part of the whole night was the blackberry cobbler, I'm still dreaming about it! read more

Average bbq, moist, pulled pork.. juicy marbled brisket with a nice gentle smoke.. pulled chicken solid. Mac and cheese was basic, but if that's your kind of thing, then it won't disappoint. Texas toast, mediocre, bread you can buy at a store. The beans, straight vinegar, and lastly, the creamy corn ... .... the dots indicate the mystery that has yet to be solved. read more

Was in Stilly for a funeral and needed some BBQ and this was fantastic, had the brisket and rib combo. Brisket cut from the Poi t which i asked for was as good as any I've had from all the top brisket restuarants in central Texas, ribs were very good too. I had beans and fries for sides, beans were kinda bland but some BBQ sauce (which is very good too) fixed that and the fries weren't anything to get excited about either but the meat filled me up so I was happy. If the fries were house cut and better and the beans cooked with BBQ sauce and spices i would give 5 stars. read more
