If you grew up in Oklahoma, then you likely know about the famous Eskimo Joe's. My family went here for dinner on New Years Eve - we thought we'd encounter a huge wait like we have in the past, but surprisingly they were able to sit us right away. I do recommend checking the waitlist they have on their website if you plan to dine here - it just gives you a good idea of how long the wait will be and you can also add your party to the waitlist before you arrive so you aren't just standing around waiting for 30 minutes to an hour, this location gets pretty packed some nights. The restaurant itself is pretty big, it's been the same for as long as I can remember and I like that about it. It isn't super trendy or chic, it's got the wooden floors and pool tables and it just reminds me of Oklahoma if that makes sense at all. Our server was super nice, he was on top of everything and had a great attitude. I ordered the frito chili pie - mostly for the fact that I live in Florida now and I don't know of anywhere else that I can order that, it's a nostalgic thing for me for sure. I also had a side cesar salad - no complaints there either. The food has always been good for every time I've visited here. You have to check out the gift shop as well while you're here - you can't go to Eskimo Joe's and not bring home a cup, or shirt, or sweater, or koosie showing the world that you've been there lol The gift shop really is one of our favorite parts about eating here. Our kitchen cabinet has stacks of these Eskimo Joe's cups (which is great for a house with kids) and every member of the family has an Eskimo Joe's shirt...we love it here and will definitely be back. read more

We were brought here by folks who claimed it was very famous in these parts. To be sure, the place is BIG with an extensive array of souvenirs and logo tagged tee shirts. The day was warm so the AC was up inside. We were seated however, on a second floor, open porch. Thank goodness for the large, iced, cold glasses of water! I ordered Chicken chili and a Black Bean Burger with everything on it (pickle, tomato and lettuce). The rest of the party received their appetizers, and main dishes. I waited, and waited while the server attended to guests being seated at other tables. When my sandwich arrived it was cold and dry. Way disappointing. The chili though, was hot and delicious, especially with the shredded cheddar I received on the side. I guess it was a busy time of day, or that our server was a bit overwhelmed and unorganized, but I won't be returning any time soon for a cold, dry burger. read more

After over a decade living in OK, I finally visited this Stillwater destination restaurant. It lived up to its reputation as a special place. I came to Stillwater on a work trip with 5 other people. It was a Tuesday just before noon. We were quoted an accurate 10 - 15 minute wait time. That gave us time to browse the gift shop before we sat down at our table on the second floor. We had a nice view of the campus and the bar across the street. It was a bit loud in there due to the music and many other guests, but we carried on our lunch table conversation without any trouble. I ordered Joe's Classic with lettuce, tomato, and pickles. It was a solid charbroiled burger -- a step up from Burger King because of the thickness of the patty and because it had a buttered toasted bun. A little ketchup and mustard was all that it needed. For my side order, I got the coleslaw. Overall, not bad. It was served cold and had little bits of carrot and red cabbage for color and extra crunch. The dressing was not overly sweet and had a runny consistency that I liked. However, I prefer a coleslaw dressing with more vinegar than in their recipe. We ordered some of the famous cheese fries to share as a table. They were delicious! I like that they cut their fries in-house, and their custom fry seasoning was delicious. Eskimo Joe's and myself go way back. Bottom line: pepper bacon cheese fries are the best item on the menu. The little joe cheeseburger w/cheese is my go to and It would be a major mistake if you didn't at least split it with someone special. The service is "college" so if you tip them early on, it will be top notch for the rest of the experience. As far as overall interior/aesthetic goes: it's college town rural America. Service is trash! Made a "reservation" I think they call it the waitlist at 3:21pm. I called right before that and talked to a worker. He said the wait would be an hour and a half. Eskimo Joe's turns 50 years old this year. We had to go and celebrate my wife's 50th birthday celebration today there. She got a nice little gift bag of different items and a fancy Eskimo Joe's 50th anniversary T-shirt along with her free meal and a birthday sundae. It was a twenty minute wait for our group but it wasn't packed but it was busy for a nice lunchtime break. The waiter's were very friendly and took care of everyone's meals fast. I got the Swiss and mushroom burger with their fries. It was a nice delicious meal. One thing I noticed walking up to the restaurant was the smell of the charbroiled burgers being cooked. Great marketing/branding, but the food was very average. The restaurant inside has a lot of character and they have been around for 50 years. This was my first visit, I ordered the Little Joe with fries. Since the server described it like a White Castle burger I also ordered a little Joe with chili. These burgers were definitely not like a white castle in taste or size; they are the size of a McDonald's regular hamburger and are not cooked in butter & onions. The little Joe with chili was their regular hamburger on a plate covered in a mountain of chili. Needless to say, I could not eat all of this. The burgers were very average tasting as was their beanless chili. The fries were good, though there were too many small pieces. They do have a full bar. Draft beer is basically all domestic swill, with the good crafts being served in cans only. read more

I came here on a Wednesday around noon after a work event nearby at Stillwater Medical Center along with my coworkers. I'm from the Edmond/OKC area, but have never been to Stillwater before. I was excited to finally get some of the very popular Eskimo Joe's merch, and snagged a hoodie and sweater. I didn't realize how huge Eskimo Joe's is! This restaurant is connected to a merch/souvenir-type store fully stocked with everything and anything OSU, Eskimo Joe's, and Oklahoma gear. The store staff members were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant has great food and service. The group I came with ordered the regular cheese fries and bacon cheese fries. The fries came with ranch and were delicious. A few coworkers who were with me have been here quite a few times because their children go to college at OSU, so they gave me some recommendations. I ordered the Classic Joe burger. This came with a choice of side, and I got the pasta salad with Italian dressing. The pasta salad was underwhelming, but the burger was very satisfying. I appreciated that the bun didn't fall apart and kept all of the inside together. A couple of my coworkers ordered the chicken sandwiches. The chicken breast pieces were huge, but tough. Overall I had a great experience and would come back again and maybe try some cocktails and more menu items - probably will avoid the chicken sandwiches! read more

Stillwater, Oklahoma Always wanted to come here and finally made it. Let's see what the hype is all about. There were three people working the hostess stand at 1:15 on a Monday. We had a 20 minute wait for a table. I asked the hostess if we could sit upstairs as it was very cold downstairs. They were very accommodating and kind. I asked to see a menu, and when I went to return the menu, they asked me what I thought I was going to get. They even offered a few suggestions. As busy as that front area is, I am thrilled to see the kindness of all of the members at the hostess stand. Special shout out to Kloee for her care and kindness. We were seated upstairs and our waiter is Lance. A quiet guy. But don't be fooled. He is incredibly nice and very concerned about making you happy. I explained I had an allergy and he went back to the kitchen, came back out to tell me that the manager has taken it upon himself to make my meal so that there would be no cross-contamination After the food was delivered. They were loaded with hot gooey cheese. The potatoes are cut with the skin still on. They're delicious, but eat them fast. When they get cold, they lose their fun flavor. They are served with a side of ranch dressing. The restaurant is mainly stone and wood. Stone walls, wood floor, wood tables. Lots of orange, yellow and blue flags and balloons in the restaurant. Not sure if this is standard or a special occasion for the month of January. Light music, but not too loud. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with sautéed mushrooms as my side dish. My husband ordered the burger with cheese. He ordered it with a side of mac & cheese. There is a one dollar up charge for both of our sides. However, we did not want fries, beans, applesauce, coleslaw. Those things come at no extra charge. The buffalo chicken sandwich is very saucy. I dare say too much. The sauce does not taste like buffalo wings sauce, but more like a red hot sauce with pepper seasoning, Lots of pepper seasoning. The chicken is a bit dry. The bun is served cold. I think a suggestion to grill it would make the sandwich much better. It was accompanied with lettuce, onions, pickles, and tomato. The sautéed mushrooms are good. Definitely sautéed in butter and red wine. My only concern is they were on the cold side. The cheeseburger was average. Nothing special about it. Neither good, nor bad. The mac & cheese is not worth the extra money to order. Overall, the best part of the meal would be the cheese fries. Eskimo Joe's is... fine. It's one of those places that's famous mostly because people say it's famous. Think Kardashian, but for restaurants. Tons of merch, a recognizable (if kinda' racist) logo, and a reputation that somehow keeps the place packed on game days. The cheese fries are the one thing they actually nail. Crispy, salty, cheesy, no complaints there. Everything else? Meh. The burgers and sandwiches are pretty basic, nothing you'd go out of your way for unless you're already in town for a game. Locals know the deal. It's more of a tourist spot than anything else. Great if you're visiting Stillwater and want the full "I went to Eskimo Joe's and got a Tshirt and a cup!" experience. We have visited Eskimo Joe's several times. This restaurant is a super popular place to eat. We were lucky we didn't have to wait. We ordered the sweet pepper bacon cheese fries for an appetizer. The portion was great and they were so delicious. For dinner we had the West Street Fowl Thing (Spicy Chicken Sandwich), which was delicious! The food was great and so was the service! Daughter had a chicken sandwich but they forgot the pineapple. We had to flag Waitress down and she came with a very sad SMALL pineapple circle for a good size sandwich. This was my very first time to eat at an Eskimo Joes. I am a long time wearer of their tee shirts. In my 20s and 30s, I had relatives going to OSU. Each Christmas, I would get a new E J tee shirt. About the time one sister in law graduated, another would start. After years of advising for them by wearing their T shirts, I finally had lunch at Eskimo Joe's. I learned a lot today. All these years, I have been laboring with the false idea that Eskimo Joes is a pizza place. No pizza. It's more of a burger place. Move it in day is probably not the best day to evaluate the restaurant. We were there to help our grandson get moved in to his dorm. The university was packed with students and their parents, grandchildren, and grandparents helping them get moved in to their dorm. We knew wherever we had lunch, there would be a long wait. At least we got to spend our wait time in their merchandise room. It gave us something to do. Today was my first time to get cheese fries. It's never sounded good to me someone else ordered them and I discovered fries make a better base for nachos than chips. My husband and grandson got classic burgers, my daughter got a blackened chicken dinner, and my son in law and I got Little Joe burgers. I had decided that the classic burger is a better deal because it comes with fries and lettuce and tomatoes. I like small burgers but I have to have lettuce and tomatoes. My Little Joe burger had no lettuce and tomato ... just meat and a bun. My son in law explained that he gets the Little Joe because it has onions cooked into the meat. I decided he was right. The meat in a little Joe does taste much better. I had a bite of my husband's classic and the onion cooked with the meat is much better. My grandson took his lettuce and tomato off his classic because he doesn't like lettuce and tomato on his burgers. He gave it to me, so I was happy. The blackened chicken was too salty and not spicy enough. The French fries were greasy and not good. We ate them, anyway. It might be that they are much better when the restaurant is not as busy. We were visiting from Los Angeles taking a weeklong professional development course at OSU and naturally we had to come and check out Eskimo Joe's. There's a fun ambiance and I can just imagine what coming here with your family or a group of friends is like on game day. Food was pretty spot on for a sports bar. I've always wanted to give the famous Eskimo Joe's a try but never been in the area. I was finally in the area for work and headed over for dinner. Sat at the bar and ordered a cold beverage and a cowboy burger. The burger was not medium it was well done. Typical of burger joints, but it was served hot. The amount of bbq sauce was crazy. You'll need lots of extra napkins. The bbq sauce had a nice sweetness to it. Fries were hot. The bartender was great, making sure I had everything and just willing to talk. It's always nice to have someone to talk while traveling. I'll be back with the family someday. read more

Just a heads-up on parking...this place is so popular that parking is hard to find. With the huge merchandise area, we were worried that this place was famous because people keep saying it's famous, but we were very pleased with both the food and service. We had a bit of a wait due to the influx of new OSU students and their families, but it was only about 20 minutes, after which a very upbeat hostess took us to our table where our server greeted us almost immediately. We each tried one of the craft beers from the local brewery and I have to say the the Stilly-Wheat beer is now one of my favorites. We ordered Sweet Peppered Bacon Fries for an appetizer and were surprised by how large the order was...it is enough to feed two or three people up without ordering anything else, so as delicious, light, and crisp as they were, we did not eat the entire plate so we would not have to just box up the rest of our meal to take home. For our main course, I ordered the Sweet Peppered Bacon Cheddar Burger and my partner ordered the Classic Burger. Both were done to a perfect medium without being to dry...in fact, get extra napkins because you will have juice rolling down your chin at some point. My partner really enjoyed his burger, and even though there are other nice sounding burgers on the menu, I enjoyed half of my HUGE burger so much, it will be my go to most of the time now. Throughout the meal our server remained polite, professional, and friendly, but not overbearing. The atmosphere was a bit family oriented, with some friend group hangout feel included. Spoiler alert, we ended up taking home leftovers anyway due to the ample servings they have, so bring your appetite. The food and service were worth the visit, and we will be back. read more

The Frito pie was mostly just Fritos with barely any chili. The only thing we actually enjoyed were the cheese fries. Here's the deal, if you're traveling through Stillwater, Eskimo Joes is an experience to stop at. It's about an iconic experience. The food, meh. The hubs had the blackened chicken dinner which was a salt lick. He couldn't eat much of the chicken at all. The baked potato was loaded and good but nothing special. I had the Foul Thing which was a marinades chicken breast on a sourdough bun with a grilled pineapple. The sandwich was good, I would order it again. I had green beans as a side, they weren't seasoned at all. I guess they dumped all the salt on the hubs chicken and ran out. Now the t-shirt shop was so cool. You just gotta get a shirt because the designs are so unique and fun. Service was ok but nothing to write home about. Adjust you food expectations and enjoy the experience read more
