We had Jason from Steer Inn cater our daughter's wedding this past weekend. The food was incredible, and the service was excellent! Everyone at the wedding was telling us how good the food was. Went for dinner. Ordered jalapeno chicken chef salad. One jalapeno. One. The boiled egg was pure rubber. It was inedible. Took the lettuce home to feed my chickens. Sad. I used to work there. They used to be good every time. Now it is hit and miss. Recommend going elsewhere. read more

We came here today while on a work assignment. It was the first time for me and a repeat choice for my colleagues. The staff greeted us warmly and with humor. The staff working the buffet was also very friendly and full of info about their selections. I had a small salad along with brisket, jalapeño chicken(a favorite here from what I understand) and some fried cabbage with sausage. It was all tasty and had a home cooked feel to it. The coleslaw was good, But they brought it 20 minutes before any other food. I ordered a side of Mac and cheese. It was Kraft mac in a really small bowl for $3. My club sandwich was good. The sweet tea sucked. There were only three tables in there including ours and it took 35 minutes to receive our food. My husband asked for a fried egg on his sandwich and it was burnt and crispy. read more

We LOVE Steer Inn! My brother has worked here for over a year and they've been nothing good to him. Every time I've eaten there, it's been hot and delicious. The restaurant is clean and the music in the background is low enough to not bother you while you dine, while also giving some background noise during pauses in conversation. Service is fast and the waitstaff is incredibly friendly, lots of the workers have been there for a long time due to the owner being so good to them. It's a good place to eat and a good place to work! The owner paid for my grandma's meal on her 91st birthday when we came in to eat with her. read more

A lot of the low rated reviews here are fairly accurate. Food isn't that great and there's a handful of other restaurants in Cushing that are better. The western decorations and quiet country music is great and had a decent selection of beers. Service is probably the best thing about the place. Waiter and Waitresses were very friendly, accommodating, and attentive. If I came here for dinner again I would probably be disappointed but I wouldn't mind going here to drink some beers with some friends. read more

The last time I ate here was 30 years ago. I have always been a bit of a beef tips snob because of how wonderful I remember their beef tips being. 30 years later, I was reminded how I became such a beef tips snob....they are exactly the same as I remember them! The salad bar has a wonderful selection of items! The dessert bar had apple and blackberry cobbler, ice cream and cookies. The cobblers were very tasty! Yes, I had both The main buffet food was awesome! Mashed potatoes with the option of brown or white gravy, corn on the cob, green beans, brussel sprouts (cooked the righ way....with bacon ), chicken bites, baked chicken, catfish, beef tips, fried chicken, etc... My husband had the soup and salad bar. He had the potatoe soup. Of course, I had to try it. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!! Waitstaff was friendly. The owner was one of the 3 cooks today. That bodes well in my book, especially considering how wonderful the food was! The establishment is clean. The womens bathroom is clean ans well stocked. Our company was having a lunch fundraiser to raise funds for the family of an employee who passed away unexpectedly. We catered Steer Inn for the event. When the owner found out what the event was for, he decided to provide the catering for free. We've used them many times in the past and will continue to use them for catering. This tremendous restaurant has absolutely blown my mind as their food is immaculate and price is reasonable. Inside is amazing, it made me feel like home, the decorations are really nice and easy to talk about during a family gathering. The service was amazing, the people working there and the waiters really care about you and how your food is. They have lots of food options and drink options. The wait time wasn't that long compared to other restaurants. I really recommend this establishment to anyone who wants great food with reasonable prices while in a country setting while eating. I can't express how much I appreciate the detail inside and how much effort they put into making this place look amazing. They always check up on you and answer your questions. I would 10/10 recommend this place to anyone and everyone who wants quality food and pay a fair/reasonable price. read more

My wife and I drive to Cushing several times a year just to eat at Steer Inn. You have to wait a little longer for their fried chicken, but it is well worth it. It is hot, juicy, and it is the best we have found in Oklahoma. We ate there today after a year wait due to Covid. The food is still excellent. I had the 8 oz sirloin steak and grilled asparagus. We called the restaurant 15 minutes before they were going to close. They told us to come in so we could order takeout. When we got there they seated us and gave us menus to order from. They were so nice and didn't seem to mind that we were there. Food was great and our waitress was very very good. Would love to go back. read more

I went through the drive thru. The staff was friendly and courteous. Unfortunately once I got home, opened the food. I was so very disappointed to say the least. They did get the order correct. The standard of the food is sadly lacking. I ordered Mac and cheese. Now if I wanted boxed mac and cheese. I would have fixed it at home. You can imagine my distaste at the boxed mac and cheese. Now that is enough. Unfortunately it got worse. I ordered chicken fried steak. Yummy right? Only if you like overly battered steak that is mostly gristle and tough. Welcome to the Steer Inn, or as I like to call it the kitschy cowboy cavalcade. The interior looks like the person who designs cracker barrel restaurants had a field day. Every "old country" decor piece you could think of was to be seen. But after further inspection we realized that a lot of the decorations are actually local/family photos or artifacts. It actually brings a nice homey touch to the place. Thus begins my saga of having low expectations and being pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. My first impression looking at the menu was that a lot of the items were over priced: $8.50 for a small plate on the salad bar, and that was the only thing under $10 that I could see that was for adults. And it only went up from there. But once our dinner came we understood why. I got Kinzie's Katch (tilapia fillets with 2 sides, I got them blackened) and it was delicious! Full of flavor and fresh. My parents' meals were great too: everything was very well cooked, the staff was nice and prompt, and the place felt like a comfortable family joint. By the end the only complaints I have are that my steamed veggies were about 25% over cooked (a little mushy, not crisp anymore), and that the salad bar could use some labels (the yellow stuff is not polenta, but cornbread salad. Who knew?) Steer Inn is a great choice to bring your family out for a well cooked meal :) read more

On a recent trip to visit family in Cushing, we decided to grab a quick bite for dinner at Steer Inn. I noticed on their menu they've been in business for 40 years. I thought that would bode well for the food, as 40 years would be a very long time to serve something crappy. Wellllll ... it's not the best I've ever had, but it was at least edible. I wasn't expecting to be blown away, so I suppose I shouldn't complain. I ordered what I thought would be the best thing they could serve, which was a chicken fried steak. It's usually something you can't go wrong on, especially at little steakhouse diners like this. However, it wasn't that great. Very very average and basic. Grey piece of steak that separated itself from its fried coating as soon as I cut into it. Edible, yes; memorable, not in the least. The mashed potatoes weren't anything to write home about either. Their steamed vegetables were pretty good. But they were coated in some kind of butter sauce, so that explains that. My mother had a salad and my brother had a steak, which they both were fine with. In fact, my brother's steak looked pretty good and he was very happy so I'm thinking my issue might've been a case of ordering the wrong thing. So while it wasn't the worst I've ever had, it definitely wasn't a fabulous meal. I got full - enough - and left the restaurant knowing I wouldn't be back but not in a sour mood kind of way. read more

We tried buffet (different main dishes according to the day of the week) the salad bar was fresh the fry chicken hot, tasty, and well cooked, leave room for dessert, delicious chocolate chip cookies, ice cream and more, definitely planning to visit again. Cushing was the site of an 8U baseball tournament, and our coach started looking several days ahead for a place for the team to eat lunch and cool off. When he contacted Steer Inn, the response was more than wonderful. Although there was a small glitch in carrying out our/their plans, the staff bounced back. Before our meal was delivered, we were in our reserved room enjoying great food and attentive service. This is a great place for a large group. The menu has something for just about everybody. Our boys were delighted with the serve yourself ice cream when the food was gone. There are specials every day, and I have to say, I wished we were staying for the BBQ dinner! Many thanks to the owner for working hard to get it right, and putting up with our noise and confusion. This is a great restaurant for the area. I can't give it 5 stars because it's just not a 5 Star restaurant. But if you want good, home cooked food that will make you feel like you just left grandmas house, this is the place. We come every week at least once for the buffet and salad bar at lunch. If i could give it less than a 1 star i would. My wife Loves steak and i like seafood. The supposed steak was burnt probably because it was about 1/2" thick at one time and about a 1/4" after burn. My supposed hand battered shrimp was maybe hand battered but from a box bought at walmart. Over 90 bucks between myself,wife and 3 grandsons and i won't even get into what they called a burger for the boys. Don't waste your money. read more

Many complaints over the years. Ate here sporadically few times over a 15 year period. Cushing is my hometown so there's no way around not eating there once or twice. They do turkey dinners for the holidays...to which I DO NOT RECOMMEND. My mother ordered a dinner to be done and ready to go the day before thanksgiving one year; however everything was cold and the turkey wasn't even cooked nor thawed out. Ate there two other times after that. Bland and horrible to say the least. SERVERS ARE NOT GOOD AND DONT KNOW ANSWERS TO ANYTHING YOU ASK ESPECIALLY ABOUT THE FOOD. They say everything is homemade; it is not. Make sure if you don't eat the bread they serve to always tear it up cause they WILL RE-SERVE THE BREAD TO ANOTHER TABLE. Or just don't bother with the bread cause it may very well just been re-served to you as well. I and many others always get sick whether it's from their buffet or just a regular table order. All in all it's pretty terrible. read more

The two stars are for the great waitress I has and the wonderful soup. The salad bar sucked. You get a saucer to fill your 1 trip and the lettuce was old and had that rusty look. The sign out front mentioned something about a buffet, oh, just not the night i came in. False advertising. Not much to choose from in this town, but I will never be back. read more
