Solid kati rolls! The paratha was a little bit overcooked and over crispy, and the chicken in the Tikka Masala roll was also a little bit overcooked and just a tad on the dry side. However, both the aloo (potato) and chicken tikka rolls were well spiced and super flavorful. Both rolls also had delicious heat in them. So, be prepared to sweat a little bit if you can't handle spicy spice. The restaurant itself is also decorated in fun old school Bollywood murals. I'd recommend this spot for a yummy quick bite when you're in Soho.

No non-sense joint to get some hearty streetfood! Very bollywood themed, very quick service. Definitely stop in for a kebab or another kati roll. When you're done, enjoy a cup of chai. Do you really need anything else in life? Prices are really cheap! Definitely plan to come back the next time I am in London.

Achari Paneer Roll, Chai, green chutney

The place has its own vibe which takes you back in time. The posters on the wall, take you to your childhood. I ordered achari paneer role which was just alright as the paneer in the roll was too cold, the saving grace for the roll was the green chutney. The chai tasted like it had been sitting in the store for a very long time and wasn't what I was expecting at the time of ordering. The roll size is decent, but if you're really hungry 1 won't be enough. Might want to try new rolls some other time. But for the first visit it wasn't very amazing.

Omg. This place is so so so amazing. The people are so nice and the prices are so good and THE FOOD IS SO GOOD me and my friend went here for dinner and loved it so much that we ran back 10 minutes before it closed for seconds SO GOOD!! 100 STARS!!

Small shop right off Oxford street for a quick bite and a break from shopping - I ordered and got my food within 10 minutes!! I ordered the shami kebab (lamb) roll and unda chicken roll with a mango lassi. The drink was refreshing and the mango flavor was very sweet. But the texture was a little too thick for my liking (It reminded me of Danimals yogurt cups.) The chicken roll with beaten eggs was delicious and my favorite. The lamb roll was interesting, the herbs and spices were very unique. The rolls are extremely oily and wrapped in thin paper, which makes the oil pool at the bottom of the roll. The entire meal came out to £12! For two rolls and a lassi, definitely a reasonable price for a decent amount of food!

The food here is just amazing! I don't think you can go wrong with any of the items on the menu. We tried the Chicken Tikka Roll, Unda Chicken Roll and Unda Beef Roll and they were all outside of this world! So flavorful and perfect. I would not change a thing! Both the roti and paratha versions are equally good. We had the doubles of each, and the portion size was just right.

Very good spot for a quick bite. I had a Unda Chicken Roll which had a good amount of Chicken and very good flavors. For £5.2 is definitely a bargain and if you get it for take-away the packaging is really good as the bag keeps it warm for a long time.

Always busy.

I really like this place. It's ideal for lunch on the go, or in my case, soak up some beer at the end of a night out! I've been coming to this place, on and off now for the past few years, and it's never failed to fill me up sufficiently and in a good way. The basis on this place is simple. They offer two types of wraps, Paratha, which is their original grilled bread, or Roti, which is whole wheat roasted bread. Once you choose your bread, you have a choice of Indian fillings.I tend to go for the roti and on this visit chose the Chicken Tikka filling and it only came to £3.75. A bargain!! If their are two of you are your'e extra hungry you can get 2 for £7.00. An even bigger bargain! Think of any sort of popular curry dish, and you can you usually get it here in a wrap. The store itself is long and narrow with the serving area at the far end. It is always packed when I go, and tends to have lots of Indian customers, which to me is a good sign. Although their is seating here, I tend to get my roti, and take it with me. They also have a Swipii loyalty system. This means you can either get a free soft drink after three visits, or a free wrap after five visits. The Kati Roll Company is well situated near Oxford Circus, just off Oxford Street. If you're in the area and feeling a bit peckish, it's an ideal place to pop into and satisfy your appetite. I highly recommmend this place for a good and different take out option.

Four of the tastiest Indian rolls I've ever tasted!!!

Imagine a set of mini burritos only the ingredients are all Indian flavours. It's a handheld, affordable, quick food option right near Oxford street. The perfect energy boost after (or before) a long day of shopping. The ambiance is wonderfully Bollywood and rustic transporting you to a little Indian cafe. I can recommend the chicken tikka and the shami kabab rolls, though they're all delicious!

Tucked away on Poland Street this restaurant a great ambience with walls filled with old Hindi movie posters and Indian music blaring out the speakers. I ordered the Paneer Roll which was delicious. Not too dry and not too soggy. It could have been slightly warmer however. I think timing is everything at this place, the busier they are the fresher and warmer your meal. The seating inside is also limited and at busy times I think you will struggle to find a place to stand let alone sit. Otherwise a cute little place, ideal for lunch.

Chana Masala Roll

Just ordered the Chana Masala Roll and it was delicious. The spices mixed with the chickpeas were full of flavor and the wrap was well cooked. It was crispy without being burnt. The prices were affordable and the service was quick! Definitely would try again.

Gymkhana isn't trying to reinvent Indian food, but instead focuses on traditional, predominantly Northern Indian flavors and is cooked with precise execution. Despite the fact that I was not always agreeable with some of the flavor profiles (mainly because I haven't encountered them before), I can't deny everything was cooked to perfection. Ordered the Punjabi Samosa to start, the Tandoori Masala Lamb Chops, the Lasooni Wild Tiger Prawns, Chicken Butter Masala, amd Pork Cheek Vindaloo as entrées, and of course had to get some Basmati Rice and the Bread Basket (the fancy name for naan). Favorite dishes were easily the Tandoori Masala Lamb Chops and the Chicken Butter Masala. The Tandoori Masala Lamb Chops were massive and cooked perfectly medium rare with no gamey taste. And this Chicken Butter Masala is exactly how I envisioned the perfect butter chicken dish in my head. Service is...well, more normal restaurant than two Michelin star level. It was fine I suppose. Exactly what I would have expected from a restaurant of this level, but nothing special. The restaurant itself was not as big as I thought it would have been. Very nice decor inside and not super bright. The one thing I wasn't too keen on was the £150/pp minimum spend, which was especially grating because later timeslots had less of a minimum spend. I would have been more ok with it if the minimum spend was £100/pp, because you're 100% going to get there. Overall, I thought Gymkhana was a good experience that was worth trying. The food was tremendous for sure. I would be more of a fan if not for the high minimum spend because honestly I could just come here for the Chicken Butter Masala and some rice and be good. But alas, it is what it is.

I had been looking forward to this reservation for WEEKS and we had set an alarm on the US west coast at like 1 am to wake up and snag this reservation. My husband and I had 8:00 pm reservations and were seated after a short wait at the bar. The drinks here INCREDIBLE, like no complaints there whatsoever. However, the service was honestly just fair...for being a 2 michelin star spot. Our server was incredibly attentive to the couple seated next to us, but didn't really provide us with much guidance or help when we had questions about the tasting menus. We did one veg and one omni so we could try our own dishes; I will say that the tasting menu is BIG. You could easily split 1 between 2 people which they do allow. We thought we could do it, but the last course absolutely defeated us (comes out as like a 6 part sharing item) and we had so much food we cancelled our breakfast/brunch reservations the next day so we could finish it. The highlights for me were the cauliflower and the beetroot pao (fair warning, the green chili is incredibly spicy on there). My husband enjoyed his quail the most. My main, the Methi Malai Mutter Paneer, was honestly so one note and did not have any depth of flavor at all. I really expected more from a spot that is so highly lauded so was let down down overall. Other reviewers stated this, but this spot honestly feels like what other people think good Indian food is...and I have to agree. I have had better bites at street stands and relatives homes than some of the items we had here. I would definitely not come back here, esp given the price point, and the sheer lackluster experience we had.

I feel like all my friends who've been to London have come back talking about this place, and I'm happy to join their ranks. Dishoom was also one of a handful of dining options recommended by my hotel concierge for a party of 11, including kids. Booking was easy, via SevenRooms, no phone calls or emails necessary. It's a large restaurant, and part of a popular chain--I guess they have things figured out. The space was great, open and casual, exposed ceilings and eclectic decor. Lots of fans, which my three-year-old appreciated. Service was friendly and attentive. I started my lunch with a drink, a refreshing green India Gimlet, gin and Rose's lime with celery bitters and fresh dill. I also tried and liked a sip of the New Permit Room Old-Fashioned, a slightly sweet cocktail with coconut-washed bourbon, Pedo Ximénez sherry, and Medjool date liqueur. There was only one menu available for a party of our size, a pre-set family-style group feast for eight adults, to which we added a pre-ordered platter of lamb chops. I loved the variety of dishes that came with this meal, and every one of them was ridiculously delicious. (There was less available for the three small American children, but they loaded up on hotel breakfast and snacked on naan and colorful puffed crackers.) The first round brought trays loaded with keema pau, okra fries, and bhel, along with lime, cilantro, and sauces for serving. The keema pau was incredible, probably my favorite dish of our lunch, if in part because it was 100% new to me. It was a spicy, aromatic blend of minced lamb and peas with dill and lindi pepper, served with toasted, buttered buns to make little sliders. So much flavor, it almost explained, by itself, why the British could never leave India alone. The okra fries were warm and crispy, and I loved the bhel, a crunchy snack of puffed rice, peanuts, and Bombay Mix tossed with pomegranate, tomato, onion, lime, tamarind, and mint. The main course was another giant spread: chicken ruby, house black daal, awadhi jackfruit biryani, and chilled broccoli salad, plus our charred lamb chops, with sides of roti, naan, and raita. The chicken ruby was the highlight here, a fragrant, comforting curry with tender chicken in a buttery makhani sauce. The house black daal is a Dishoom signature, and it was lovely, cooked for over 24 hours. The biryani was fluffy and nice, studded with jackfruit, barberries, and sultanas. The broccoli salad was a fresh hit of green, enhanced with pistachio, mint, red chillies, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, dates, and lime. The lamb chops made for a hearty entrée with a lot of flavor, the lamb marinated, grilled, and finished with Kashmiri chilli sauce. The thin, griddled roomali roti and the fresh-baked naan were both great accompaniments, as was the minty, cucumbery raita. For dessert, we had a choice of kulfi, creamy ice pops available in mango, pistachio, or malai, the original flavor touched with caramel. All three were superb, so cold and milk, easy to throw down the hatch. This was, it turned out, an enormous feast, but everything was so delicious and well balanced that I didn't notice how much I was eating until I got up. I was still full several hours later, when we went to dinner. If you want to eat Indian food in London, you should definitely find your nearest Dishoom. It's a wonderful restaurant, with top-notch food and no hassle. I certainly intend to go again.

The chilli chicken was also a super flavorful app to share and the garlic naan was great as well. I love Indian food, and Metro Vancouver has a huge Indian population, so Indian food is comfort food. The restaurant's wall was decorated with various historical photographs, and right above our table was a photo of Vancouver, titled "Well-dressed Sikhs walking along the street in Vancouver, Canada c. 1908." Although over 100 years ago, I immediately recognized the location -- the corner of Granville and Hastings. How coincidental is that, to be thousands of miles away from home in a different continent, and to come across a photograph of the very street corner I cross multiple times a week! I don't recall what my husband had (a chicken dish), but I had Acharri Murgha ("chicken curry cooked in a traditional pickling spice mix") and it was delicious! Both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal -- it was a taste of home! I also had a couple of glasses of wine, but each glass was 250ml, so I was pretty tipsy. In the washroom, a woman, another tourist, started conversing with me, but she only spoke French, and despite being drunk and rarely speaking French, I was able to have a semi-coherent conversation (she was also a bit tipsy). I had a drunken conversation in French inside an Indian restaurant in England! Anyway, Punjab Restaurant is one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to, and it is no surprise that it has been around since 1946. [Yelp collections: Europe 2024; London, England]
