I ate here recently with a friend. We started with the crispy cauliflower and the vegetarian momos. The cauliflower tasted good but was a little spicier than I like. The momos were delicious. For my entree, I got the methi chicken malai, mild, and while I liked it, it was also a little spicier than I like. My friend got a paneer dish and enjoyed it. This is my first time putting some comments on Yelp. Their food was amazing and the service was awesome even though the situation where we are right now is very tough. I ordered food on line for pick up since this quarantine does not allow us to eat food in store. I ordered masala curry and rice. They packed foods properly and it's secured perfectly! I was having a very lonely weekend at home all by myself, but their food made my day, and it was just like 5 seconds "how-are-you?-I'm-good" kinda conversation but that meant a lot to me. The new chef's food is really tasty. I ordered the Aloo Gobi and aloo parathna. Everything had good flavor and nice level of heat. The aloo ghobi was a tomato gravy which was new for me. Amazing food! I ordered the jhol vegetable momos to go and they were packed very nicely. Perfect fillings, texture and taste. The owner is very friendly and he even called me when my order was ready for pick up. The indoor restaurant is open to 25% capacity and there are plenty of tables outside too. Let me start off by saying. I have no clue how anyone could leave anything less than 5 stars for this place. They food truly was a taste of heaven. So much flavor and so fresh. The only thing that rivals the food is the service. I don't believe I've ever had such attentive service in my life. Me and my girlfriend went for dinner last night and would eat there everyday if we lived here. not only were the precautions taken by the staff impressive but they truly went above and beyond to care for us. Delicious, authentic Indian and Nepali cuisine! What a find this was. Our friends took us to this gem they had discovered, and we were impressed. The Tandoori Chicken was moist, flavorful and perfectly charred. The appetizer Samosa Chat, which I had never had before, was a symphony of flavor and texture, with chick peas as the stars. The puri, my favorite Indian bread, was crispy and puffy, just as it should be. Service was prompt, attentive and friendly. We were visiting friends on the Outer Banks, and while in Raleigh awaiting our flight, we stopped at her "favorite restaurant." We were so glad we did! Great Chicken Tikki Masala and Korma, and the puri and naan were really, really good -- I LOVE naan when it has a little burned flavor to it from the oven, and this was just right. Our waiter -- Ramesh? -- answered all our questions, and even gave us an impromptu lesson about his home, Nepal. Wish we lived a lot closer (we live in Colorado), or we would visit this place much, much more often. read more

We had an order of the garlic naan as an appetizer, and it was just perfect. We had the chai tea to drink. The restaurant doesn't have a liquor license yet, but our waitress said they had expected to get it today, so it should arrive soon. (You might want to call ahead if getting a drink is essential.) We saw this place and thought to give it a try and, I must say, we were not disappointed. We shared the tandoori chicken and butter chicken and there was more than enough to go around. My family and I love this restaurant! We have been here several times now and this is our go-to place to bring out of town guests as well. Excellent food and service...the owner Suresh was there almost every time we have been there and we feel he always goes the extra mile to make sure we have a great experience. I don't give many 5 star ratings, but Kathmandu Kitchen deserves 5 stars. My wife and I just ate lunch there and feel that it is a gem. Our food was fresh and delicious and the service was outstanding. Kathmandu Kitchen is owned by a family from Kathmandu, Nepal. The flavors in the food are unique. I had the chicken curry, which was wonderful. We both had Lentil soup that was great. It differs from Lentil soup served in other local restaurants, but was excellent. We shared an order of Samosas, which were the best I've had in over two decades. The Himalayan Chai was delicious and the Olive Garlic Nan was some of the best nan I've ever eaten. We look forward to having dinner at Kathmandu Kitchen because there are so many wonderful things on their menu. They also have a full bar and are open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. read more

Came here for dinner with my family over the weekend and it was super good. We found this place via yelp and called to make reservations. The service was so great and really friendly. Yes the food does take some time but it's all fresh and delicious. The spices are spot on and they are generous with the servings. We had the best time and don't be fooled by this strip mall restaurant, you'll be pleasantly surprised! Pro tip: I would call and ask about beverage options when you make your reservation. My husband and I ate at Kathmandu Kitchen last night (Valentine's Day) after reading a review of it in the News and Observer. The place was packed, but we were seated quickly and advised that the wait for food would be long. The smells coming from the kitchen were so enticing that we stayed, and we are so glad we did! The waitress apologized and told us honestly that they had not anticipated the rush of diners. My husband had the jhol momo and I had the samosas for appetizers. Both were excellent, the samosa pastry was flaky and buttery. For entrees my husband had the duck breast which he said was excellent and I had the chicken korma. The korma sauce had a wonderful, robust and tangy taste and the chicken was tender and juicy. We also ordered the bread basket which was a perfect pair-up for the chicken korma. Although we had a long wait, it was definitely worth it. The staff were obviously handling a stressful situation but we appreciated their honesty and the fact they they were up-front with wait times. I absolutely adore this place, and the people that work there. Always wonderful service, the dumplings are indescribable and delicious. The dal makhani and chicken tikka masala are two of my other favorites that I have tried but I'm sure all the other dishes are just as flavorful and well executed.
