"Nepalese and Indian food in downtown Raleigh, near Marriott"…read more With a great location, this is VERY close to the Raleigh Convention Center. We arrived on a Thursday night at 6pm with a group of 5. The dining area didn't really accommodate a group that size, but they made it work by moving tables around, which was nice. The place was not very large, but there was maybe only one other family eating inside. The bathroom was clean. I split two dishes with my son-- salmon tikka masala and shrimp (prawn) saag, both coming with rice. We were given some papadum, I think, as a snack as we waited on the food, along with some spicy dips. Food came in maybe 10 minutes or so, which was great timing. However, I have to say, both dishes we tried were underwhelming. The shrimp was oddly translucent and not very flavorful in its dish, and the spinach in the saag wasn't especially tasty (though it did have a nice spiciness). The tikka masala sauce was great, but the salmon also was pretty underwhelming. We both said we'd probably just get chicken next time and not splurge the extra for the salmon. No dish was "bad", but just we expected them to be delicious and they were just OK. I'm just really surprised given how many people said this was the "best Indian" they'd had. The staff were friendly-- refilled drinks well and were good at answering questions. And the price was reasonable. Altogether, I'll give it 4 stars given the great location, good service, good price, but not 5 given the food was "just OK". Realistically, I probably wouldn't go back-- we have lots of great Indian in Durham and Chapel Hill, so I'd rather wait and get that.

Reasonably priced Nepali cuisine in Cary. Mild is actually mild so if you want spice, order at…read moreleast medium. I highly recommend trying the tandoori mixed grill. The website is easy to navigate and place takeout orders. The menu items are described well and are accompanied by beautiful pictures. We appreciated the February coupon code that popped up when viewing the online menu. We also received complimentary gulab jamun which was very generous of them. Everest is located in a shopping center off Maynard and Harrison with ample parking. Our order was ready upon arrival and accurate. We ordered tandoori mixed grill, chicken coconut madras, tadka dal, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and pulao rice.

Beware of the high yelp rating!…read more We were starving and excited to try this place after a couple hour hike at Umstead yesterday. We LOVE northern Indian and Nepalese food and were lured by the high yelp rating. I'll start with the good. The server was kind and efficient. The chili chicken momo were delicious. The rice and garlic naan were average to good as well. However, our butter chicken and our chicken korma tasted like nothing. It was very strange. There was texture and you could kind of taste the chicken itself but the sauces tasted like nothing. You could almost only tell the two apart based on color and texture. We ordered one of them medium spice and one mild. Even the medium spiced dish had zero flavor. I kind of thought to myself that something was off when the colors looked bright but we couldn't taste a thing. I kept thinking maybe the flavor or heat will build. It never did. Nevertheless we ate everything bc we were starving, but we were definitely disappointed in the lack of flavor. Not long after we left, our stomachs were kind of on edge but we figured this was simply from eating too much. This morning we both woke up ILL. Even though we discussed coming back for the chili momo only in the future, we have since changed our tune. I love locally-owned businesses and hate to leave a bad review but we truly did not have a 4+ star experience here. We won't be back.

I grabbed take-out from here recently and I was a little disappointed by the quality of the butter chicken. It wasn't terrible but the competition is really fierce because there are so many great restaurants serving this cuisine in the area. I will say that we ordered it mild (so that my preschooler would enjoy it) and it was definitely mild, unlike some of the other restaurants in the area :) The sauce just didn't have the depth of flavor that I've experienced at other places. The rice was slightly overcooked, and the naan were not bad but were a little overly chewy. I will say that my wife loved her lamb saag and my mother-in-law really enjoyed her saag paneer, so there's that. Overall, since my family liked it so much, I'd order from here again, but I'd get something different from the butter chicken next time.

We always get two orders of the crispy cauliflower because it's so tasty. Most of the dishes let you choose your spice level when ordering online, which is nice. The staff are always friendly and polite. The restaurant is warm and welcoming with dark wood and mixed with bold colors. I highly recommend stopping in to give their extensive menu a try.
