We came on an early Sunday evening and when we sat down, we were the only patrons in the entire establishment and the man who seated us was on the phone. It is tucked away in a strip mall and does not offer much in the way of ambience as it is a large room. We did not care for the complimentary chips. The samosas had a good crisp but we didn't care for the filling and the naan was a little too crispy. Been wanting to try them for a while but with covid, they've been take out only & the hours have been erratic. This is a huge roomy space that used to be a Chinese buffet. Interior had plenty of spacious seating. We were the only customers there when we walked in but I was determined to try it after seeing the high ratings. We were served small bottles of water as soon as we sat down. Ordered 3 dishes...gobi manchurian, saag paneer & chicken momos and a mango lassi. The gobi manchurian was flavorful with a nice heat but a bit too salty. The saag paneer was a very good rendition of the dish with big cubes of paneer in the creamy puréed spinach. The chicken momos were very good as well with gingery ground chicken encased in a well made dumpling skin. This was served with a curry based sauce. Overall, we enjoyed the food and look forward to trying some of their other dishes. read more

Really great ambience inside the restaurant with traditional music playing. The food is very different which I'm sure goes without saying. Very spicy in herbs and also can be spicy with peppers. Had the Himalayan tea and it was delicious you should try it. I also had the Himalayan chicken soup it was a little on the hot spicy side but oh what a great flavor extremely herbal. For an appetizer I had chicken pakora mainly for my ex-wife because she's always trying to find a way to cook gluten free. Frying chicken with chickpea flour is very good. I also had the Nepali Khasi, a goat dish slow cooked in a brown gravy, with Himalayan herbs and spices served over balmati rice. The food was absolutely delicious. It was a little over the top for a regular dining experience but once or twice a month I good definitely eat here. read more

Absolutely delightful. I've gone a dozen times before, they are under new owners now, and we wanted to try the buffet. Food was flavorful, so many options for vegetarians too! Freshly cooked deliciousness! The only complaints: AC seemed to not be kicking out cold air, so it was uncomfortably humid inside. And the tea did not have sugar but sugar was provided to mix our own. Overall, good experience. I will be returning for the buffet. We've doordashed from here a few times in the past and it's never been especially exciting, but it was a passable experience. However, when I saw they were reopening their Buffet I jumped at the chance to binge on some AYCE tandoori chicken When I finally got the chance to visit the buffet this weekend I was looking forward to a delicious experience, but boy was I in for a disappointment The entire meat section of their buffet was empty. Not a single chicken leg, not a single chunk of meat left floating in the picked over, grim looking curry sauce. Nothing, literally nothing. I wish I'd got a picture to show how pathetic it looked I stood there confused for a few minutes while staff hung around in the background ignoring the empty trays, and I realized they weren't going to be refilling them any time soon, so I left in disgust and went to enjoy some Korean BBQ down the road Won't be trying it again, and won't be doordashing from them again after that disappointment read more

We ordered take out and it was so good! We eat a lot of Indian/Nepalese food and have tried a ton of places in the area. There are so many places around here though so we decided to try a new one on a whim. We ordered the veggie momos, chili chicken (appetizer), lamb vindaloo, and butter chicken, and an order each of garlic and plain naan. The curries were both perfect--some of the best we've had around here! The chili chicken is awesome and more of an indo-Chinese dish. It is technically an appetizer but it was a pretty large portion so it's enough for sharing or even an entree if you order some rice or naan with it. The momos were great, as was the sauce they came with. I prefer the other things to momos in general, but they are better than the other momos we have tried elsewhere, and it was a really generous portion so definitely shareable! Also, I know this might not matter to most people, but we were super glad they plastic wrapped the curry containers! It stains like crazy if it spills and most places don't take the time to do that so it was a nice touch! :) read more

One of our children is wanting to expand his food repertoire. I guess you could call it. We were in the mood for Indian and thought a buffet would be a great way for him to try multiple dishes without wasting too much food. We went here on a Saturday around noon since this place only offers the buffet at lunch time. We walked in and there was barely anyone there (maybe 5 people) eating. My husband immediately noticed the sanitation score on the wall and looked a little weary (it was a 90). We were greeted immediately and told to have a seat anywhere in the back room where the buffet was. The gentlemen did not ask about getting us anything to drink, so we had to ask. He directed our attention to a side table with pitchers of water and a tea urn and said it was self serve, they did have sodas but they were in a can and no free refills. The buffet was on the small side but did offer several choices. Choices included jasmine rice, vegetable pulao, chicken 65, samosa and naan, saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, and a goat curry. I was a little disappointed they didn't have butter chicken since it's a fan favorite in our house. The food for the most part was very good. The goat curry was a very big surprise! It was amazing; it was so tender it fell apart and it honestly tasted like was like I was eating the beef in a good beef stew.....this unfortunately is where my delightful lunch took a turn for the worse. Our youngest asked for some crayons since they put a paper table cloth on the tables. The gentleman obliged and quickly got him a container of crayons which he placed on the table. We were all enjoying drawing different pictures on the table, while still continuing to eat our food, until we dumped the container out on the table to try and find a different color. That is when a live cockroach fell onto our table and started to scurry away. Luckily, it took refuge under my husband's napkin which was nearby and he was able to squish it promptly. That of course, put it an end to any of us wanting to continue to eat any additional food. We did call one of the guys over that was running around and showed him, and he quickly picked up the napkin and took it over to the trash and threw it away. When we went to pay our bill at the register, the same guy rang us out and said he was giving us the two sodas that we had for free because of the experience that happened. Now mind you we had eaten all of our food, and we're towards the end of our meal, and we did not ask for free food, but I do feel we should've been comped a little bit more than two $3 sodas; especially since we did not make a huge scene to alert all the other guest who had come in after us, and were continuing to eat. The only reason I gave this place a 3 star instead of a 2 is because the food was decent. We will not eat here again though. read more

I placed an order via Uber Eats. I can tell you that the food arrived hot from the kitchen. But it was downhill from there. I had put some notes with my order to please use mild spice. The Momo steamed vegetable dumplings were so spicy that I couldn't even finish one. I had been thinking about them all day, and I was so disappointed. I have ordered samosas from many places and always been happy with them, this is the first time I have encountered samosas Where the crust is so salty that I can't eat it. I called the store to let them know there were some problems. Upon verifying that I indeed had the right restaurant, and that I had placed an order his only solution was to say that they would do better next time. They have it listed on their website and the sign outside that they have a buffet but it's only during the weekend they said. The food was AMAZING!!! Each dish was individually flavorful, standing out on its own. Pakora came with tamarind and cilantro sauce that paired wonderfully. However the Pakora is delicious even without sauce. It was our first visit here so we played it safe by ordering Tikki Masala. So deliciously flavorful, the portion is adequate - but I could definitely have ate more. Best Garlic Naan I've had. Definitely order that. I've never had Chicken Momo, it was also very delicious! The buffet, a classic American over eating institution invented in Omaha, Nebraska by Warren Buffet. For the same price as a main course, why not, offered even at the weekend. There was chili chicken, goat curry (get your monies worth here), butter chicken, saag paneer, veg noodles, Bangkok chicken, a couple of Nepali chicken dishes, some Nepali soybean dish, papadum, salad with chick peas in it, chutney, raita, mango mousse and kheer. Also Aloo Gobi wan Kanobi. They also give you a basket of naan and there is mango (or was it carrot, I dunno) juice included. The goat was pretty good, falling off the bone and not tough. Chili chicken had a good coating. The noodles were also good. These were the dishes that stood out to me. The naan is also a top bake. The mango mousse was more like a sauce. Mousse is supposed to be airy or fluffy. Persis Grill on NC55 made the same mistake. This is not surprising for a buffet, but the food wasn't very warm, even though I eat close to time of opening. Flavors don't come through properly when it's not hot, this is generally the downside to any buffet. Opened recently and they have done it up nicely with lots of big photos of Nepal. The far side by the buffet station doesn't look like it's fully decorated yet. There are a lot of tables. They also have a nice looking bar. The restrooms smell like a swimming pool. read more

Nothing beats a buffet of great Indian/Himalayan food. After our lunch today, Himalayan Grill is near the top of our list. The service can't be beat. Our water glasses were always full, and our servers brought us hot, fresh naan to complement our meal. My favorites on the buffet included cauliflower with cashews, chicken tikka, chicken tikka masala, chili chicken and a vegetable dish with mushrooms (my apologies for forgetting the names of some of the dishes!). There were several chicken dishes, at least one goat dish and two or three vegetable dishes. We would have liked to see more vegetables/vegetarian dishes on the buffet. We were hoping to see tandoori chicken, although the chicken tikka was well seasoned and well cooked. On the plus side, the price was right at $12.99, and we really liked the calm, quiet pace of the restaurant. read more

What a hidden gem! Everything we had for dinner was delicious. We had the momo dumplings with chicken. The dumplings come with a curry kinda dipping sauce. It is so different but so so good! Than I ordered Ghobi Manchurian which was just ok. The cauliflower was almost raw and the sauce wasn't the greatest. I've definitely had a lot better Ghobi Manchurian dishes elsewhere. Than we've had the Nepali Khukura which is chicken cooked in a very flavorful sauce. It was so scrumptious! When you order the Khukura I'd suggest to get a side of roti to dip it in the sauce. It is so yummy! The great thing is you can choose your spice level for each dish. I also ordered mango lassi and yes it was so refreshing and creamy and lightly sweetened. It was perfect! The service was also phenomenal. There is lots of parking available and it was very quiet inside the restaurant. We were the only one sitting. Most people ordered take out. With the positive reviews, I expected an enjoyable lunch. It was awful. The place has really gone downhill based on the pictures compared to what we saw. It has all the charm of a school cafeteria - its about the size of the a school cafeteria, lit with cheap fluorescent lights like a cafeteria, staffed with people who don't care like a cafeteria, and smells like a cafeteria. When we arrived there was a cart full of dirty dishes abandoned in the middle of the dining area. A big box from UPS stretched our across multiple tables. Floor tiles were missing, And the food.... OMG the food was awful. Crusty, stale, old, and frankly not very good. The rice was so stale it was crunchy. Many of the options were gone, what was left had been sitting for far too long and patrons were scrapping the bottom of the pan. Want forks or spoons - pick through the bin to find some that weren't gross with stuck on food. Want a drink? There's a station for water and iced tea but no glasses. We haven't been dining out much lately for some reason, but we recently had a large family event that called for a similarly large quantity of food for a wide variety of tastes: spicy, not so spicy, vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and one vegan. The guest of honor at this event has always enjoyed Indian food dating back years and some time abroad. What better way to celebrate than with food he likes? We checked out the menu, called the restaurant a couple of times to clarify ingredients, and decided on an order. This was a big order, a couple of hundred dollars, and they suggested ordering it a few days in advance. Everything was great: butter chicken, lamb madras, mutter paneer, chana masala, tandoori chicken, vegetable biryani, vegetable vindaloo, samosas, everything. I know, because I made a point of trying a little bit of every single dish, and they were all excellent. All of it was beautifully cooked and spiced. We'd asked them to go easy on the hot spices since not everyone likes hot, and that was okay, too. It was a great meal [For reference, the dishes mentioned above are (approximately): chicken in a creamy, buttery sauce; lamb stew; a type of hard cheese in curry sauce; chickpeas; baked chicken; vegetable rice; spiced vegetables; and stuffed pastry appetizers.] We'd erred on the side of caution when ordering and made sure we had more than enough for everyone. I've made a journey to try to find the best Indian place, and nothing could beat this place. Food is on another level. I always get the Korma. But I stopped by the buffet this time, and had some of the goat curry. It is GOAT (Greatest Of All Time). It had so much flavor packed in to each bite. I had the privilege to talk to the chef and he is so humble. You can legit have a conversion with him about food and you can sense the passion. He is a down to earth guy. And same for the staff. Really great people. Extremely nice. Definitely the best Indian I've had. Been coming here frequently, never had a bad experience. My biggest regret is that I cannot rate it higher. read more

The food is absolutely delicious, which makes my criticism even more telling: the cost of the food is a bit too pricey for the actual amount of meat/chicken/lamb in those excellent sauces. For my Hampton Roads VA friends, this wasn't as good in flavor as Nawab, but a bigger selection. Chicken Tandoori was a little dry, as was the Biryani. Lots of great vegetarian dishes like Bhindi, Chana, Dal & Palak Paneer. Hot and perfect Naan is always appreciated. Nepali Goat Khashi was one of the more exotic dishes for me, and delicious. Gulab Jamun, Kheer and Mango ice cream for dessert. Service was excellent. Drinks refilled quickly. Friendly conversation. Helpful staff. The space is clean with white table cloths. Health score of 96. Clean bathrooms. I didn't try the MoMos, which seem to be a favorite. We didn't think of it until too late. They take 15 or 20 minutes to prepare so order them when you first get there if you're having the buffet! If I come again I'll skip the buffet and order Nepali dishes and MoMo from the menu.
