Three of us came here for dinner. It was my first time but the others had been here before. I got the calamari and oysters and potatoes and hush puppies as my sides. The oyster breading was way too thick and very crunchy. I had to ask for cocktail sauce and lemon and that took a while. Based on my meal and service I would say a 3 but the others loved their meals. One got a shrimp boil and the other a combo of shrimp and crabs. You get to choose your sauce in the bags and one chose garlic butter the other the bang bang( a combo of all the sauces. The service was slow and we had to ask for refills. It's pricey but I guess that's because it's seafood. The theme is rustic/nautical. read more

Wow this place was so good and insanely cheap. My top 3 favorite food is fried catfish and they made it so perfect I have zero notes. I usually like some seasoning or sauce on it but it was so good it didn't need anything. The corn was also great like I've never had Cajun sauce on my corn and it was INSANE. Anytime I am in Raleigh, Durham, or Chapel Hill, I HAVE to go to cary crab house. They are the ONLY place I don't need to ask for extra sauce and the non-spicy sauce is Delicious (for ones like me that can't take spicy). Tried Cary Crab House on a Friday night. Went in and we got sat immediately. So let me start with this review is strictly about the food and not about the service. The service was great, our serve Mei was very attentive, friendly, and efficient. No complaints about service! Now I'm a seafood boil girly! I've tried them from 2837829 places and I also make them at home. So I'm a tough critic I suppose. This boil was bland, no real seasoning and taste. The seafood seemed fresh and was cooked well, but the taste was just not there. I would not recommend if you prefer seasoned boils. I will not be back unless there was a major change in the seasoning. For context I got the Big Bang Sauce (all sauces mixed together) and I got spicy level, HOT and it was not hot at all. And the boom sauce. Made a good choice with the sauce cause I like sour/salty and it was sooooo good! Visited this place twice last month. My kids love seafood and Cary Crab did not disappoint. We had the same, very sweet and attentive server both times. Our drinks came quickly and were in large tall plastic tumblers. We ordered steamed snow crab legs with garlic butter, steamed crawfish with just Old Bay seasoning, the soft shell crab basket and steamed shrimp (with the heads) in garlic butter. While I was happily surprised to watch our server return with clear plastic bags filled with food and flip them over to make sure everything was thoroughly seasoned, it was even better watching my family dig in with their bibs on. Our sever provided a small basket of plastic gloves, seafood crackers and wet naps to keep us tidy. We didn't need them; the messier the better! My daughter couldn't believe the size of her crawfish. My shrimp were delicious. My youngest barely spoke because she was so focused on her crab claws. The sign of a perfect meal. All the sides: potatoes, corn, hush puppies were all very yummy and came hot and fresh. Later the kids used the bathroom facilities and they reported it was 'very clean and tidy back there'. It wasn't until about 15 mins later, I started to feel sick on the stomach. Without to many details, let's say everything came up and out. What a waste! I am not sure if it was food poisoning or something wasn't fresh and my stomach didn't agree. Okay, I did try the crab legs but before I review everything... For a crab house... these lemon pepper wings are the best wings I've had in a while. They got WingStop lemon pepper wings beat tbh. The taste wasn't too lemony, it was the perfect amount of flavor. Also the wing wasn't over cooked and had a good amount of meat on there. I'm for sure coming back for those. The shrimp basket was good sized and was fried perfectly. Wasn't cooked to long, breading stayed on and still had the perfect crunch when you took a bite. The hush puppies were like any other hush puppy, still good though! I ate them all so I clearly didn't have a problem with them. As for the crab boil, I got the "Cajun flavor with heat level- medium" with extra potatoes & it was bomb. I wanted to honestly dip everything in that butter. Everything tasted amazing. When they opened - I really enjoyed the consistency of service and product quality. Since COVID the inconsistency of poor quality alone with no, value want keep me coming back. I did call and speak to the manager; note worthy the managers is directly involved and just made excuses why the product was sub par. " Manager lacking customer service very argumentative. We came to this place on a whim. And I cannot say anything other than I'm so impressed. We arrived around 445 pm and the place was empty. We weren't sure on what the outcome would be. We ordered a pound of snow crab with garlic butter. Medium spice. Probably the best combo I've ever ordered. Extremely friendly staff, very accommodating and helpful with our crazy, young daughters. You pick your seafood King crab, snow crab, (blue crab in season), shrimp, mussels, clams, and crawfish then pick your sauce....spice levels are 1-4. I went with the garlic butter and mild spice. There is no picture because the aroma of garlic and butter had my party salivating like Pavlov's dogs before the first bag hit the table...... They bring it to your table in a double plastic bag slathered in a pound of butter. The table is covered in butchers paper. They put a bib on you. Your drinks come in paper cups. They put an empty bucket on the table and move away knowing that there needs to be a minimum of a 5 foot splash zone for safety.... Lordy have mercy....this seafood was cooked perfectly. It was seasoned perfectly. The service was outstanding. They even tie your bib on! And I giggled... as my friend had to be talked through peeling shrimp and picking crab. Up to this point, her palate had only known breaded and fried seafood (which they have and is delicious)...well, she is a believer now!! We will be back! I LOOOOVE me a crab boil and this is the best place around here- don't bother looking elsewhere, it's consistently GOOD. Customer service here is great. Before the pandemic, I used to eat in and everyone is always friendly and the order is always right. At some point during the pandemic, I really craved it but was unsure of how well the meal would do in a to-go setting. I placed an order for pickup, got home 25 minutes later and let me tell you, it was still HOOOOT and the flavors were just as good. I've done that a few times since and again, they are just consistent with the quality of food they put out. Pricing is fair/competitive with other places. It's in a busy shopping center too with great parking so bonus points for that too. read more
