Service was amazing and food was really good and decent prices for the quality of the food. 100% going back in the future.

I love Backfins. The flounder and shrimp are so good. You can get them blackened or grilled. Their hushpuppies and onion rings are also good. They give you good portions as well. It's small inside so we always get Togo but it never disappoints.

Overall, the food was good and reasonably priced. The service, however, requires significant improvement. I will revisit once they address these issues. Ordering was odd because the person who took our drink order couldn't take our food order. The menu has options for everyone who doesn't want seafood. I enjoyed my seafood combination steamed with crawfish, shrimp, and sausage. In summary, good food at a fair price. I look forward to returning once they resolve the current problems.

Onion rings same breading as shrimp possibly Not salty or greasy- very good

I was seated immediately by the hostess when I came in. The noise level was moderate with23 people inside ( room for at least 42 inside them more room outside in their enclosed terrace. They have no free WiFi it turns out it's for the business. I got the fried sampler which came out in 5 minutes (even though they were fairly busy) it was nice and hot. I'm testing this as a place I can bring my parents one of which is on reduced salt. The cheese curds would be a no for him but for me I loved them!very cheesy with garlic!! The marinara pairs well with them. The oysters are not salty with a light crispy breading excellent even if you don't use the cocktail sauce. The shrimp are medium sized ( half dollar) lightly breaded lightly salted compared to the oysters dad would probably not risk them. The onion rings have the same type of batter as the shrimp but aren't salty at all. Dad will wolf these down! The cocktail sauce is a tad on the sweet side so it does mute the saltiness of anything . All the patrons seemed to be happy with no complaints voiced while I was here. Menu prices aren't on the menus you have to scan a place on the menu for prices or ask the wait staff. They offer char grilled and seared options as well as a kids menu . I will definitely be back to try more items. I wasn't super hungry today

We really enjoy this restaurant. The food and service is good. It's not a big place but they have some outside seating.

Steamed, spiced crabs and hushpuppies. Yum!

Fantastic food! Crabshack atmosphere on point. First visit and we happened to be there on a day they had fresh blue crabs. What a treat and they were delicious! Lily, our waitress, was a joy. We'll be back!

    menu prices blacked out

Backfins Crab House is a good place to dine. I do think they need to update their menus as the prices are blacked out but more than that the to go menu online overs many more options than the current menu. Almost everything on the current menu is fried. But the online ordering had fried shrimp; broiled shrimp; peel and eat offered for the shrimp baskets. I went with the broiled shrimp basket and choose fries and corn as my sides. The shrimp portion was plentiful. I hadn't expected so many. I was very happy with what I ordered. Service was exceptional for the large group we had.

Crab cake & a huge crab cluster.

The crab legs were perfectly cooked, sweet, tender, and came out steaming hot. Crack, dip in butter, repeat... it's basically a workout I don't mind doing! The service was friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was relaxed, and everything about the experience made me want to stay a little longer. Great seafood, generous portions, and an unbeatable Wednesday special? That's a winning combination. If you're a crab leg fan, do yourself a favor and make Wednesday your Cape Fear Seafood day. We couldn't decide which was better, they were both delicious, not at all the cafeteria restaurant soup we almost expected, but very homemade. $5 a cup, but $3.90 since we ordered lunch menu items. Well worth the money! Lunch was Fish 'n Chips for me; super good crispy fried white fish, not greasy at all, which is the sure fire way to ruin any fried meal. The fries are really good, too, almost McDonaldy. Comes with tartar, ketchup, malt vinegar (asked for), and a really good garlic aioli. Hubs had Shrimp Risotto, which was blackened shrimp over really creamy risotto with red peppers, scallion, and tomato. Delicious. Also couldn't decide who got the better lunch. Our lunch specials were less than $15 each, a bargain today, and we each took half home. Hubs also had a beer, and I had the house Cabernet, which was really smooth. Around $50 for everything; didn't mind spending that at all since everything was so good. Really glad we found this newer place; fingers crossed it doesn't go the way of so many downhill the longer they're here.

After running errands, we drove just six minutes to El Chapin, a Guatemalan restaurant. Forget Tex-Mex--this is a completely different Latin cuisine experience. The two of us spent $76 (including tax and tip), but we intentionally ordered extra to take home leftovers. Parking was easy, right out front, and the restaurant itself is spacious. Since we arrived just a few minutes after opening, we had the place to ourselves at first and were seated immediately. Service was prompt and very helpful--the server even suggested we might have ordered too much food (he was right, but we didn't mind!). Here's what we tried: Plato Chorizo y Longaniza - a sausage platter with salad, rice, refried black beans, and two delicious housemade corn tortillas. Pollo Adobado - marinated chicken with rice, salad, refried black beans and two housemade corn tortillas . Ceviche de Camarón - fresh and tangy, though light on shrimp, which tasted a bit tough Fried Plantains - perfectly done, sweet, and satisfying. Plus, I had an unsweetened iced tea with lemon. The highlights for me were the flavorful rice (with vegetables mixed in, including carrots and squash), the marinated chicken, and the sausages. The plantains were also excellent. The ceviche had great flavor but could've used more shrimp. The only miss for me was the salad--generous in portion but iceberg-based, so a bit bland. Overall, the food was fresh, flavorful, not heavy or greasy, and we left with enough for another one or two meals. We'll definitely be back.

You really do 'get what you pay for'. The bar and dining area are casual, modern and inviting. There is also a spacious patio for al fresco dining when the weather is nice. I was particularly impressed with the Salmon BLT. This enhanced version of the classic BLT is hearty, meaty, slightly crunchy and simply delicious. Another favorite of ours is the Honey-Chipotle Shrimp Wrap with lettuce and roasted red peppers. There are plenty of lightly fried, slightly briny shrimp crammed into an interesting spinach tortilla wrap. The unlimited basket of golden brown, almost sweet Hush Puppies comes with semi-soft honey butter - addictive. There are several lunch options on the 'Small Plate' menu (we found the servings to be more than adequate). That old standard, Fish and Chips was done to perfection. The thick piece of delicate, mild white fish was was covered in a light, golden-brown batter. I substituted Fried Okra for the Potatoes, and it was delicious. The Flounder and Oyster small plate is another winner. The ten crunchy, juicy fried oysters and a large founder filet were cooked just right. Small plates also include a small cup of Cole Slaw. The colossal slice of Coconut Cheesecake was simply scrumptious - creamy, smooth and so coconutty. Do yourself a favor and indulge.

We had a variety of dishes, and out of everything the pork schnitzel wasn't really a schnitzel if you've ever had one in Germany, it was more like a breaded, fried bone-in pork chop, really good but not a traditional schnitzel. The asparagus, the risotto, the pasta, the chicken were all absolutely superior. The stars were the appetizers, especially the kung pao fried Brussels, those are a meal by themselves, some of the best I've ever had! The fried burrata cheese, worth the drive to Wake Forest.
