I will concede that I was intimidated by the menu. But I will never make that mistake again. Wife and I decided to do all appetizers with beans/rice and plantains. That was a quantity of unexpected proportions. So much food at such a good value. And it all was so good. Also don't pass up the salsa bar. Would highly advise sharing. The entrees are monstrous. We will definitely be going back again (plantains were awesome also).

I've been to the one in Durham many times and love it, I was expecting to like this one as much as that one but.... Seafood soup was flavorless, I ordered the chapin chuletas and too salty. Service on the other hand was great!!!!!! Oh and mojito was good :-)

This is the first Guatemalan restaurant I have visited in Wake Forest and it doesn't disappoint. The staff was incredibly kind and patient with a table full of folks who were tasting the cuisine for the first time. The food was terrific. We got a good variety of dishes across the diners and everything was quite solid. Thr salsa bar had a variety, including some spicy options. The pupusas were the best my family has ever had, and we eat them every month or so. Tortilla chips don't seem to be a Gautemalan thing, so while the salsas are amazing, don't expect all you can eat chips and salsa! Definitely recommend!

This place was great. As soon as we walked in we were immediately greeted. The menu had many options. The food came out and it looked phenomenal. The portion sizes are big, come hungry. I had chorizo sausages with rice beans and a salad. Hubby got steak with the same sides. Our toddler got corn dogs and french fries. The food was amazing. Even the rice. Yes, the rice. It was so flavorful. The beans as well. The steak and sausages were flavorful. You can tell hard work and talent went into preparing these meals. They also have a store inside and we tried Guatemalan snacks. We will be back.

Incredible experience. Fantastic service, amazing food, good vibes. We came for breakfast and will definitely be back. They even hand squeezed our orange juice to order.

I've never had Guatemalan before so this was a great introduction! Authentic Central American cuisine with fair prices and friendly service.

Really REALLY good Mexican food at this spot in Gateway Commons. It was packed on a Weds night,…read morealways a good sign! Menu is straighforward, all of the usual Mexican fare is listed. Tried the Fajita Quesadilla. A beautiful and well stuffed quesadilla is grilled then quartered for the plate. Served with rice and shredded lettuce, guac, pico and sour cream. The portion is big, it's served piping hot within minutes. Margaritas are cold and well mixed - not too strong, not too weak. Shout out to Luis, who took care of us. He is super-attentive, charming, funny and pleasant and does a great job. As an example - we split our entree... and without being asked he brought an extra plate. This might not seem like a big deal, but somehow this nearly never happens unless we ask. Great work, Luis - thank you! This may well turn out to be our go-to Mexican spot in town. GO!

All Mamacitas are not the same! A few weeks ago I reviewed…read morethe Mamacitas on Capital Blvd - good food and drink with underwhelming service and atmosphere. So we tried the one in Heritage Commons - COMPLETE GAME CHANGER! The food and drink was even better because the staff was friendly, engaging and efficient - and the decor and ambiance wa-a-aay more pleasing and comfortable. I got the exact same things - margarita, wings, and carne asada burrito - the tastiness and presentation of the margarita made my eyes roll back in ecstasy - and the food was delish. I've seen other Yelper's reviews, mostly positive, and gotta tell ya: GO EXPERIENCE IT FOR YOURSELF - you won't be disappointed. Very affordable, relaxing and unpretentious - the robot server was a nice surprise and perfect accent. GO. SOON.

Wednesday has officially become my favorite day of the week thanks to Cape Fear Seafood Company!…read moreTheir half-price crab legs are hands down one of the best deals around--and they're absolutely delicious! The crab legs were perfectly cooked, sweet, tender, and came out steaming hot. Crack, dip in butter, repeat... it's basically a workout I don't mind doing! The service was friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was relaxed, and everything about the experience made me want to stay a little longer. Great seafood, generous portions, and an unbeatable Wednesday special? That's a winning combination. If you're a crab leg fan, do yourself a favor and make Wednesday your Cape Fear Seafood day. Just be prepared--you'll leave happy, full, and already planning your next visit!

We couldn't decide which was better, they were both delicious, not at all the cafeteria restaurant soup we almost expected, but very homemade. $5 a cup, but $3.90 since we ordered lunch menu items. Well worth the money! Lunch was Fish 'n Chips for me; super good crispy fried white fish, not greasy at all, which is the sure fire way to ruin any fried meal. The fries are really good, too, almost McDonaldy. Comes with tartar, ketchup, malt vinegar (asked for), and a really good garlic aioli. Hubs had Shrimp Risotto, which was blackened shrimp over really creamy risotto with red peppers, scallion, and tomato. Delicious. Also couldn't decide who got the better lunch. Our lunch specials were less than $15 each, a bargain today, and we each took half home. Hubs also had a beer, and I had the house Cabernet, which was really smooth. Around $50 for everything; didn't mind spending that at all since everything was so good. Really glad we found this newer place; fingers crossed it doesn't go the way of so many downhill the longer they're here.
