Artichoke dip

This place is very cute right in downtown Franklinton. The service was pretty attentive and everyone was friendly. The menu was not the same as they have on their website, so I would recommend updated that. My husband got the blacked red fish and noted that the outside was more charred than just "blacked." The chicken was tasty, but nothing special and it was nearly impossible to cut with the table knife provided. Would return to try other menu items.

Scallops with coconut rice

Finally got to go here after my husband surprised me with reservations on my birthday. Since he is allergic to shellfish his options were limited so he ordered the burger and it was incredible and I had the scallops with coconut rice which was delicious. Service was great and even the mocktail was delicious. Looking forward to going again soon!!

Maine lobster roll

I liked the dimly lit aesthetic. It matched the atmosphere we were looking for. For starters, we ate the fried calamari. It was seasoned well. I ordered the lobster roll which was good but it had a bit too much of tarragon. Also, I was expecting it to be warmed but it's chilled. The shrimp and grits were perfect. I just wish it was a bigger serving. Customer service was great! I'd go back a try something different.

We don't make it downtown very…read moreoften, so I've been enjoying exploring some of Durham's newer spots -- and this one was absolutely worth the visit. The wine list is broad and thoughtfully curated, with options that feel approachable whether you're a casual wine drinker or someone looking to try something new. The sommeliers were welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about helping us find something we loved. The space itself is adorable, with eclectic décor and cozy lighting that makes it easy to settle in and stay awhile. It's a great spot for conversation and a relaxed evening with friends. The only downside is that the space is fairly small, and I would have loved to see one or two more lower seating options for small groups rather than mostly high tops. That said, I could absolutely see us coming back for a pre- or post-theater glass of wine or an easy catch-up night.

The service is awesome--our server was super friendly and gave me a great drink recommendation when I wasn't sure what I wanted. It ended up being perfect. My friend and I shared a glass of the 2023 Cederberg Bukettraube (sweet white wine) and got the charcuterie board for one with the truffle salami. That board was so good--I can't stop thinking about it. The toasted baguette slices with truffle salami and mustard? Unreal. It was the perfect little snack to share. We also had the citrus lavender crème brûlée, which was surprisingly delicious. I don't usually go for crème brûlée, but this one was light, not overly sweet, and just had a really nice flavor. I've also tried their shepherd's pie before and loved it--wish it was still on the menu! The vibe inside is moody and cozy, and they've got a cute outdoor patio too. Overall, such a great spot. A little pricey, but I'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend checking out Killer Queen.

I really enjoyed this restaurant. The food lived up to my expectations. The fried duck ravioli was…read morepretty good. It had a solid crunch out the outside and it was still flavorful and rich on the inside. The steak was exceptional. Perfectly booked medium rare throughout with a perfect sear. The cheesecake was the only thing I was a little disappointed by. It was good, but it wasn't cheesecake. It was pretty much just cake with a tiny bit of cheese filling. The service was good. Our server and the manager were pretty attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The ambiance was nice, your typical upscale steakhouse. I didn't get a chance to go into the speak easy but from what I saw it seemed like it'd be a really fun place to grab a drink

My wife had a wedge salad and the sautéed shrimp. She is gluten free and the server verified with the chef to make sure he was right on what had gluten and what was gluten free. For semester we had a flourless tort. I would suggest this place for a nicer meal with gluten free options. The Wine Barrel side is more casual, which was nice for us because we wanted a good meal but also wanted to watch the NFL playoff game.
