This was my first takeout experience from Himalayan Nepali Range Restaurant, and overall, it was a positive one with a small hiccup. I ordered the chicken korma and chicken 65. The chicken 65 was the standout, huge portion, packed with flavor, and incredibly satisfying. I was extremely happy with the amount of food. The chicken korma was solid as well, comforting, creamy, and well-prepared. The only downside was timing. My takeout order took about 15 minutes longer than the estimated pickup time, which was a bit frustrating. That delay is the reason for docking a star. That said, the food itself was good enough that I'd absolutely order again, just with a little extra patience built in. Great flavors, generous portions, and a strong introduction to the menu. read more

Butter chicken wasn't the dark orange red color that it usually is. It was a light yellow color which makes me wonder if they are skipping certain spices? But then it tasted pretty bland had very little flavor. I am a huge butter chicken fan and this was a big disappointment for that dish. I am sad! The place I have been going to for years - have now fallen into that typical zone where they sideline customer experience to the bottom line. And I thought their chicken momos the best in the area. Called in a big order on Friday. One of the dishes - chicken momos. Food was ok... but the momos? Inedible they were so salty. Called and spoke to the lady - she was very apologetic and said I can pick up a plate of Momos the next day since we live almost 25 mins away. All excited for my momos - I call the next day sharp at 5. A guy answers puts me on hold and then comes back to say the momos are already prepared, they won't make another batch for the next 3-4 weeks so if I should order something else from them. See - I didn't want anything else from them. Their food compared to other restaurants in the areas - average. Momos, OTOH, were pretty good. So I clarified - you are telling me - the momos are already made. Same batch will be used for 3-4 weeks ( it is normal for the filling to be made at least once a week). To hear that they remain frozen for 4 weeks??? Apparently the "momo chef" is away for that long. So no new momos. I asked - did you try the momos? Weren't they salty? He said they were a little salty. At that point - I thanked him and ended the call. And that started the new search for authentic chicken momos in the triangle. Great restaurant and great food! We got the momos, goat curry, and tons of different naan. The portions are huge so don't be put off by the price. The best part of this restaurant is the naan! Huge portions and freshly made. We got the garlic, potato, and onion naan and all were great but the best was the potato! Great prices too - for under $4, you get 4 huge pieces that's more than enough for 1 person. The momos were good as was the goat curry. And service was fast too! The food here is always on point. Every time it actually seems a bit better. We've been going for years. The momos, tandoori chicken & garlic naan are some of our regular faves. The service was prompt and friendly, and we were offered complimentary hot tea which was delicious. We ordered an appetizer and vegetarian entrees and everything was delicious and plentiful. I had two more meals from my entree alone, and the cost was very affordable. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and doesn't have an elegant ambience, but it is comfortable and quiet- perfect for an evening out. Clean but sparse interior with some regional Buddhist decorations. Friendly and fast service. I went for lunch and ordered the Veggie Thali. It was delicious, I especially liked the dal. It filled me up and was really more than I could eat. A great value at $11.99. Before my order arrived they brought out a crispy lentil cracker with onion curry or chutney. I was brave and tried medium when I went the first time and it was a stout medium lol We've been back several times now and I adjusted my spice level and it's all good now. The momos are an absolute must and the vegetable pakora is to die for as well! This is THE best hands down! We ordered Butter Chicken, Tiki Marsala, Chicken Korma, Onion Bhaji, Chow main, and Naan bread. We did mild on everything since we have a 2 small kids. Let me tell you EVERYTHING was soooooo good. 10/10 would recommend. I have to say this is my family's favorite restaurant of all time at this point. We will be back many times over. Feb 2024: I selected the restaurant to enjoy a meal of good food while meeting a friend for a leisurely lunch and conversation. The food was brought in shifts. I realized two people bringing the food but if the used a tray like other restaurants do it would be quicker but they do not so 2 people carry the food. We shifted the food to arrange it on the table to spread it out! It is a lot of food, feel free to bring your own to go containers to pack up leftover. The rice is plentiful and everything was freshly made and hot, even spice level mild, While we were speaking, the check arrived. I cannot recall if we were asked about dessert or coffee. Of course, I ordered my usual to go as I normally do and asked my friend if they wanted the same and we continued catching up. A short time later, the owner walked by our table and said "we are closing!" On the weekend, the hours posted on the door show from open to close and no break mid-day! I looked at the time and also noticed the row of guests in booths eating also. Based on this experience and two issues, I would rate experience at 3.5 stars only deduction (.5) for mishap of food coming out and (1) for telling guests closing by coming around versus posted hours on the entrance door. Of course, if a situation only reason closing early, a note posted at the door would have been appropriate. Overall 3.5 stars Food 5 stars Jan 2024: This place may not be ideally located, but worth the drive. I am a regular and don't even need to see the menu as the uncle knows my exact order and to space the food out so that it doesn't come out all at once! Papad with onions comes out to start the experience and awaken the palette! Please bring the cheese pakora back on the menu for those dining in especially on the weekend. Or if you can just make it for me PLEASE! I miss the peas on rice also! A lovely addition on the menu would be some salad. Fortunately, when ordering the chicken tikka on the sizzling cast iron the bottom has lettuce, so I find eating it moving the chicken and onions around to be satisfying. Trying to eat healthy and prefer fresh or steamed veggies versus pakora. Exception for the cheese pakora! Feel free to bring your own containers to pack up leftovers. Always delicious and plentiful! I order to go Kulfi with the Himalayan coffee -- delicious drink! Kulfi good at end of meal, light and refreshing. If you need suggestion what to order and order Naan. Mango lassi Cheese Pakora Chicken Pakora Gobi Manchurian Chicken Tikka Chicken Coconut Curry Kheer Guab Jamun Kulfi Kulfi in Himalayan Coffee Pick your spice level and even the lunch specials would be a good way to sample or share some momos. My husband says this is the best tomato soup he has had! The restaurant inside had a slight makeover and one thing for sure they have a take out service that always seems busy! Solid 5 stars for casual and family friendly location. Good price and value, please bring back some of the favorites especially on weekends. I wish I had taken more photos, but I was too busy enjoying all of the flavors . We ordered a variety of dishes: curry chicken, daal, naan bread basket, chicken saag, Chana masala, etc. My favorite so far was the curry chicken, simply because the flavor balance was beautiful. A quick word of caution: if you can't handle spicy food, go with mild. I love spicy food, but the medium here was fairly strong (for me). I loved every bite though! Overall, I'll have to add this to my list of restaurants to visit more frequently. read more

I tried this restaurant for the first time on a Saturday for lunch. I was with two other people, and we ordered quite a bit, including Gobi Machurian, chicken and vegetable momo's, vegetable fried rice, samosas, saag paneer, bagin bartha, peshwari and garlic naan, and keer. Unfortunately, we were mostly unimpressed. The only thing we really enjoyed was the saag paneer and the keer. There was one waiter, who was very nice, but left all of our used plates on the table even after bringing our to go containers. He served the dessert by reaching over the plates and boxes and didn't return except to say they were closing. With so many good South Asian restaurants to choose from, for us, this one is not on the list. read more

Such a gem!!!! This is tucked into a shopping center and such a lovely find. Seating was quick and the owner's son came by to help w/ ordering and pairing items for dinner. The chef is so talented- the spice level and flavour profiles were breathe taking and not too much- my eat companions would've noticed The mango lamb curry 10000% recommend even if you just get that curry base and switch out a veg/protein you'll be so happy. It's not so sweet as to be off putting and satisfaction in the savoury department. Similar, situation with the Shahi paneer korma though it's lighter and refreshing so balanced the curry selected well. I came here for lunch with a friend a while back and everything was delicious! Service was also fast and friendly. We each ordered an appetizer and an entree. I got the Shahi Paneer Korma (paneer sautéed with ginger, garlic and tomato) and Gobi Manchurian (fresh cauliflower batter fried, sautéed in Indo-Chinese sauce) and my friend got the Tandoori Mix Grill (chicken tikka, chicken tandoori, chicken kebab) and Naan. The Shahi Paneer was not as decadent as I was hoping it would be, but if you're looking for a light, yet flavorful sauce, this is the dish for you! The Gobi Manchurian was a bit heavy on the oil/batter but delicious nonetheless. My friend really enjoyed her dishes as well. read more

We've never had Himalayan until we tried this place, but we are huge fans of Indian. Let me tell you, if you leave the Indian restaurant disappointed there was no meet in your sauce or in sticker shock, this restaurant will leave you happy. We ordered 12 chicken momo Chicken chow chow Butter chicken Mango lassi Himalayan chai Govi manchurian Malai kofta Our bill was around $50 some. I was shocked! Everything was good. Our kids ate it up when we brought them the leftovers. Have I had more flavorful butter chicken? Yes. Did I enjoy their butter chicken? Hell yes! It was chock full of chicken. Good flavor! This restaurant is a bit of a jaunt for me, so the next time I'm in the area and hungry, I'd definitely consider stopping by. Ordered Butter Chicken, Chicken 65, and Papad takeout. Butter chicken had a weird after taste. Chicken had no flavor, tasted like shredded rotisserie chicken mixed with a sauce. Sauce didn't have much flavor, a bit watered down. Chicken 65 tasted it like was left over fried chicken tossed in a sauce. A bit chewy which is why I felt like it was left over or older chicken. I would rate this average. For $10 more for the two of us, we could have gotten better food. Kofta was very good but Black Dhal (similar to dhal makhani in indian cuisine) was so below par. Naans were ok, . Food here is better than another Indian restuarant nearby but then again, there is yet another at the corner that is way better than this Nepali one. For most locals, this might be ok but for the Indian used to good indian fare, this was just ok. The papad needs to come with chutney rather than vinegar steeped tomato that kills the spice of the papad. read more

I don't understand the raving reviews. I ordered paneer tikka masala, garlic naan, and vegetable samosas after getting off work. Was told it would be ready in 45 minutes max. I drove 30 min to the restaurant and waited one HOUR inside the store before my food was ready. An hour and thirty minute wait time when I was told half of that is unacceptable. I figured if the food was good, it would be worth it. The food was not good. It was not spicy like I asked and the flavor was lacking. Don't get the samosas bc there weren't seasoned at all and had zero flavor. The only thing I liked was that they included papadam. Everything else was a pass for me. read more

I really used to love this place. Best samosas I have had in a while. However, my last experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I work in the food and beverage industry, and service is important to me. How you treat people matters. I went in to get samosas for a family dinner the next day. The young man who greeted me and took my order then went to the kitchen - which you can hear most of what Is said. He reported back to tell me that they would not take my to go order unless I also ordered an entree. Business is business. I did not understand this nonsense and I feel for him having to be the messenger for the cowardly lady in the kitchen who made this call. My family and I used to come here very often. We no longer go to this establishment after a few experiences that were subpar. This one situation I am describing put the nail in the coffin. There are better and more hospitable, friendly options nearby like Kathmandu Kitchen. I hate to leave this review, however, it is important to note how you are treated when you visit an establishment to give them your business. read more

This is one of our favorite restaurants. Tonight I had the Shrimp Korma and my wife ordered the Lamb Vindaloo. We also ordered garlic naan. The naan was brought to us nice and hot. It was so good! It was also really good to dip the naan in the shrimp korma sauce! Both entrees were fantastic. I got the shrimp dish with medium spice. It was just a little spicier than I wanted, but not much. I really enjoyed it. The soda I ordered came out in a single can and there are no free refills. Overall a delicious and enjoyable evening! read more

Himalayan Range is amazing! If you have not eaten here, I highly recommend it! The prices are fair for the quality of food you get. The menu options are enough but not overwhelming. You will be able to find something that suits your taste buds. I want to order everything off the menu whenever I dine here but try to go with the main entree and two side items. This is enough food to feed two people. My go to entree is the butter chicken. You can not go wrong with that dish. The customer service could use a little help but I am here for the food, not the service. The waiters/waitresses are very kind. We LOVE getting takeout from here. The BEST way to wrap up a week. The vegetable samosas were just the right amount of crisp and flavor. I didn't even use the sauce on the side, the flavor was so good. Garlic Naan and Peshawari Naan are the way to go, if you have more than four people I would double up on one of those Naan. The serving/size for the Naan is a little bit bigger than a dinner plate. My family goes old school and gets the butter chicken, chicken Tikki masala, and chicken korma, favorite staples. I like some heat so I get medium but most people prefer mild. We tried the rice pudding and it was divine. I split it with my hubs. Oh! Special treat, try the mango lassi. Generous serving sizes. Coconut curry with lamb is my go-to! The bread is delicious enough to dip in the curry and eat by itself!

I have had the tikka masala at every Indian joint in apex, Raleigh and Cary. I don't say this lightly, but worst of all of them. The tikka was an unnatural red, extremely watery, and the chicken was wierd pieces. I didn't even finish it. The nan and rice were fine. read more
