Inexpensive and tasty! My go-to items are always the Samosa Chaat and the Mango Lamb Curry (with a side of garlic naan of course). Everyone seems to rave about the Chili Chicken here, but I thought the chicken chunks were pretty dry. I prefer the Gobi Maunchurian, which uses the same delicious sauces/flavors as the Chili Chicken but with tender cauliflower pieces instead. The spice levels here are very, very mild - in fact, if you order their version of "mild," you'll barely taste any spiciness in it. This is excellent for those who don't like spicy, but for those who need a little more heat, just make sure you order a level up. Great options for everyone! Service is consistently warm and friendly, and the atmosphere has a cozy feel to it. I'd definitely be back to try more authentic Nepalese/Northern Indian dishes. read more

Tho place came recommended from my fellow elite members. The place is located in a random shopping plaza in the older part of Cary and has plenty of parking. Now let's get to the food! We had two appetizers the chicken 65 and the Gobi Manchurian. The chicken 65 was good but lacked the extra spices that I'm used too! The Gobi (friend cauliflower) was amazinggggggg! It was perfectly cooked, came out steaming and was the perfect amount of spice. By the way you can choose your spice level mild, medium or hot. For a main course we had garlic naan (they appear to put butter on it too), chicken tikka marsala and butter chicken. The reason why this place got a 4 was that both of these appeared to be very runny and they watered it down. The flavor was there but not as strong. The tikka was much better than the butter chicken. Very affordable! Very flavorful! My husband and I shared 2 entrees, an appetizer, and a soup. Came out to $40(pre-tip)! Everything was great and the medium spicy level (3 & 4 out of 7 on their spice scale) was the perfect heat for us. Ordered the bhindi masala, saag paneer, samosa chaat, and veggie chow chow soup. Would recommend all of them! I love that the saag paneer has a different flavor than the saag paneer I get at other restaurants. The samosa chaat was something I had never had before. The yogurt in it gave it a cooler temperature level(great for a hot day) and the samosas gave the dish a good crispy texture. The guy working there was very nice, but I did not enjoy my food at all. The mango lassi had a strange flavor and texture. I tried to take a few sips, but had to throw it out. The fish korma had very little spices/flavor to it, and the salmon did not taste good. Threw this one out too. The only thing I enjoyed was the vegetable samosa. I think this might be the worst meal I've ever had (I literally gagged and forced myself to try a few bites because I was hungry), and I wasted $20+. I will be sticking with Cilantro and Himalayan Nepali (the other one on Chatham St) for my fix of Nepali and Indian food. read more

Been wanting to try this place for quite a while. My sister and I came for lunch. We wanted to try a variety of dishes so that is just what we did. Started off with a vegetable somasa. It was obviously freshly fried and the filling was delicious. I'm not exactly sure what is was but I liked it. It came with 2 sauces. One was a green sauce and the other was spicy. Spicy sauce was very tasty. Since we had read lots of good things about their momos we had to try them. This is a steamed dumpling. We tried the chicken momos. Very good and also freshly made. You can almost taste the love that is involved in making these !!! For our main courses we had the chicken tikki masala (my sister's fav) and we also tried the vegetable lunch special. The vegetable special came in a (TV dinner) like tray with different compartments for each item. It was actually a very good idea. We were able to sample each item that are staples on the Nepali menu. There was even a dessert !! This came with fresh baked naan. Delicious !!! The chicken tikki masala was also very good. You can order with whatever "heat" or "spiciness" that you like. We got medium and it was delicious. There are lots of other dishes I would like to try. Maybe the goat next time ?? I think so. A great place for Nepali food! We were in town for a conference and found this little restaurant. The service was great and the staff friendly. We got a few apps and shared an entree. The price for two people (including a glass of wine) can't be beat. Why the 4 stars? While we loved the soups and bread, the fried cauliflower had a nice texture but the red sauce was a little off and had a little too much ketchup. The black lentils were a little bland. We had a fantastic lunch here and I am kinda mad that I have been missing out for so long! First off, the prices are great for the amount of food you get. And then the food is full of amazing flavor. The service was also very fast and our food was out in almost no time at all. Out of the appetizers section, we ordered the Chili Chicken, Gobi Maunchurian and Samosa Chaat. The sauces for the Chili Chicken and Gobi Maunchurian had just the right amount of heat and these are both must orders for your first visit. We also got the Samosa Chaat to balance out the fried foods a bit and it was really refreshing in contrast to the heat from the other 2 dishes. And this would have been more than plenty for the two of us to share, but we also ordered the Saag Paneer dish. Yet again, Himalayan Range delivered another great dish. There was plenty of paneer and it was served with some rice as well. Then we couldn't resist getting an order of Garlic Naan to go with everything and it was delicious too. The owners of Himalayan Range Nepali had run the original one, sold out and then re-opened this new spot. Why is that important? Well if you loved the original, guess what? It's back and bigger and better than before. The interior of the new Himalayan Range Nepali is large, spacious and sorta upscale. But the menu is everything it used to be: reasonably priced Nepali food which to me means of mix of Indian, Chinese and some Nepali specialities (momo dumplings). My first visit here was a reminder of what made the old restaurant a favorite to me. Great papadum and naan, flavorful chicken 65 and well-fried pakora, good tikka masala and more. I'm Nepalese by ethnicity so I might be a little biased BUT Himalayan Range is a solid place to go to if you're craving Indian/Nepali food. I have actually been here a few times since they opened and they have been very consistent since their early days till now. Let me start off by saying that their pricing is ridiculously cheap and the portions are bigger than your average. The customer service is good but it can be slow, so be prepared. The first time I came in, I had their momos cause it's a staple in my diet but I did not like them at all. Fast forward to the latest time I have been there, my mom refused to make me some so I tried them again, and it tasted better this time around. We have also had the chicken chili, chow mein, chow chow, tandoori mix grill, goat sekuwa, and naan here and it's all been pretty good. I do wish they had more Nepali food on the menu because that would really set them apart from the rest of the places in the area. read more

I ordered a soup and some momo, but first came this thin fried dough with this little red pepper paste which was very good. The soup taste is great, well seasoned, but warning: I asked for hot, and the server said medium should be enough. I sweat like never before. The momo was interesting, The dough is similar to dumplings, etc., but the filling is a seasoned dough with chicken and other things I don't know. This is a great little place for lunch! They have a vegetarian section on their menu and the lunch prices are affordable. I LOVED the Gobi mangurian- such a tasty appetizer!! The cauliflower is perfectly fried and cover in a delicious savory sauce. I could have eaten the whole plate! I also tried the Veg Thali which is a vegetarian lunch special. It's a sampler of 3 different veg entrees + rice + tapioca pudding as well as complimentary naan. Everything was so tasty and I even had leftovers for lunch the next day. The tapioca pudding was a delicate treat and I would never have usually ordered it. The naan was crispy and buttery - yum! Also the complimentary water has a hint of cucumber - so refreshing. Overall I'll definitely be back for lunch. The garlic naan is undoubtedly the best garlic naan in the area. It's soft, pillowy, and perfectly garlicky! I decided to order the chicken coconut curry after reading reviews of it on here and what a great call that was - thank you to all who recommended the dish! It's so creamy, perfectly seasoned, and the chicken is incredibly tender. I'm currently having my leftovers for lunch and it's just as tasty as it was fresh. Also, it's only $10! I guess I am the minority here but we did not LOVE Himalayan Range. After trying the complimentary chutney lentil bread and reading countless 5 star reviews I was ready to be wowed with dinner. The Gobi was cooked well and the portion was huge but sadly, I felt the sauce just tasted like tomato paste. The Lamb in our Mango Curry was tender but the sauce was one-dimensional. Rice and Naan were both average in my opinion but yummy all the same. Maybe my expectations were too high or we ordered the wrong things but I personally think Vimala's Curryblossom Café does a better job and will continue to make them my go-to for Indian food in the Triangle. read more

If you like spice go "hot" on the heat if you don't or you're on the fence god MILD. Medium, in my opinion, was very very warm and the hot was too hot. For my meal I asked the waitress to call the shits and she didn't dissatisfy. Make sure you aren't in a rush so you can enjoy the pace of this meal. Wow this place is amazing! Seems like it's a family ran business ( which I love ) and the food was spot on! My husband and I ordered 6 different plates because everything sounded great (don't judge us ;) and everything was delicious. I especially liked the fact that a high level spice is a true spice, so be careful when they ask if you want low/ medium/ high spice because they will give you a high spice if you ask for it. My daughter and I really like Himalayan Range Nepali Restaurant. We've been several times and it's consistently good. One little stand out detail for me is the fact that they serve water without having to order it...it's just complimentary and is cucumber infused. It's so refreshing and is one of my favorite small things that sets Himalayan Range apart. My daughter is vegetarian and also not a fan of spicy foods, but they are always happy to accommodate an extra mild version of Mattar Paneer or Aloo Gobi. Each main dish order comes with a good amount of rice. Definitely suggest getting an order of naan to sop up the sauces!
