A fun place to try on a warm morning! This place is really popular so I knew to expect a wait for my food but it didn't take too long and it's a great area to walk around while you wait. I got the pancake donuts that they're known for and the texture and consistency was great. Staff was helpful on which filling to get and you can get a mix of their options. Finally visited Katalina's after hearing so many great things about it! I was surprised at how small the restaurant is given how popular it is, but we managed to find a seat. While we waited for our food, we doodled on the table and the window sill with the paint markers they provide. Loved looking at all the signatures and drawings around the restaurant! I got the Nutella pancake balls and a side of purple hash browns. The bacon that came with the pancake balls was a little chewy which I didn't love (I prefer crispy bacon!) I went to Katalina's with my son and a friend of mine. They both got tacos and they loved their meal. I ordered hens in a basket and my meal was just okay. The place is very small and we wanted to grab a table and wait for my son since we arrived first. They were very adamant that we not allowed to have a seat and look at the menu. The inside is small, but noteworthy, as stated. The tacos and were tasty, served in blue tortillas, and loaded with toppings. I enjojyed the guac-- fresh and with a decent portion size. The veggie sausage almost tasted like real meat. I would order it again. Service was quick, and all items were brought to our table. My one complaint is that the blood orange juice was super acrid and contained a lot of odd additives that I wouldn't have expected, including food coloring. The three star is for not having nearly enough nutella filling. I never appreciated a jelly donut that had a hint of jelly. Katalina's has both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outdoor. Ordering is done indoors. Their menu is posted on a huge wall inside the restaurant. They have paper menus as well. On most weekends the lines are excessively long. They do not take reservations. Waiters bring you the meal, it is not cafeteria style. It took about 15 minutes to receive our orders. Breakfast runs between $8-$12 dollars. Portion sizes are large but not significantly so. Whether you live in Columbus or are visiting, you NEEEED to go to Katalina's. It is such a cute little place (at least the one on Pennsylvania Ave). It is small which is the downside. If it's during the cold season, you might have to wait outside in the cold to even order. Finding a table will be tough because there are only a few on the inside and if it's too cold you cannot sit outside :( No matter how early or late you go it seems to always be packed, but that just tells you how yummy it is. I am a sucker for the pancake Nutella balls. It's literally Nutella stuffed pancake balls with a side of syrup. How can you resist that? There's a side of sweet and spicy bacon also. I am drooling writing this review. I like to get some salty with my sweet. I typically get the breakfast tacos. It's corn tortilla with chorizo, eggs, tomatillo, avocado, queso freso, and a crema. It comes with a side of corn on the cob. I really enjoyed the tacos because there are so many flavor profiles happening; it is like a party in your mouth. The only thing was that the corn on the cob lacked flavor and it was overcooked and slightly mushy. I also tried their slow roasted pork sandwich. It comes with a sauce that Katalina's keeps a secret, fried eggs, provolone cheese, avocado, peppers, and an aioli between two pieces of toast. When we lived in Cbus we frequented this spot a few times a month and even now when we visit we almost always have to stop in here for some good eats. They have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options and everything (or 99%) is locally sourced and organic. Woohoo. :) You cannot go wrong with the tacos; corn; brussel sprout hash; the pancake balls with the pumpkin apple butter filling will make you want to hurt somebody they so good and oh man that thick cut bacon coated in brown sugar. YUM. The place is NOT BIG at all so beware! They tend to turn over the order quickly but there might be 7 table and a tiny bar area inside along with patio seating. Although I was delighted in the purple potatoes, these were undercooked barely fork tender, not at all steaming hot amd I should have sent them back. My daughter took hers home to cook as leftovers. Nice array of picante seasonings provided on the table. I did not need any tailoring. The rest of my Hens in a Basket order was good. Eggs could be a tad runnier sunnier nested in the sourdough toast. Now, the vegan sausage was stellar, especially sandwiched in the cut out rounds of the sourdough toast. We actually stopped at another restaurant before this hoping to fill our bodies with brunch-y goodness but were sorely disappointed by the menu. In a quick switch we made our way to Katalina's and had our taste buds wowed. So so very good. This location is super tiny. Like tinier than you would expect. There is a substantial parking lot behind it which is just wonderful. Food service was so fast. You order, take a number, and then wait ~5-10min for food to come out. I tried their breakfast chik-wich. Arguably a little hard to eat but delicious. The Brussels sprouts side that comes with it is also super tasty. My partner ordered the breakfast tacos which came with a side of delicious mexican cob corn. And what is a trip to Katalina's without ordering a batch of their famous pancake balls. They did NOT disappoint. We got them plain because we were so overwhelmed with the choices but you can get different fillings in them. Frickken yum. + sweet and spicy bacon. We decided to check them out at the beginning of summer 2021 and got their semi-early, just after they opened for reservations. ...We were told an hour. It was our first time, around the area is a Kroger, couple bakeries, donatos, and an Elm & Iron store. We browsed, went and got coffee at Dough Mama's (please see that review) and a couple pastries while we waited. Went back an hour later, she told us she had moved us to the bottom of the list because we didn't answer our phones... she had called the wrong number. While she was figuring us out, she told us to get in line to order... just when we got to the counter we were told we couldn't order until we had a table lol ayyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee We just hungry people. Two-min later things are sorted and we are back in food line. Order. Then are seated... an HOUR laterrrrrrrrr our food comes semi WARM. .. AN HOUR FOR EEEGGGGGSSSSSSS basically. Luckily I was with a friend from highschool that I have know for 20+ years so we made it a good time by cracking jokes on the place... we would have gone back to Dough Mama's or Donato's.. While there are new brunch spots popping up all over the city Katalina's never gets old. They have a large menu of delicious items including fare for the vegan and gluten free. Personally I am such a fan of the popular Nutella balls that I rarely stray but I have tried other items on several occasions. The Hens in a Basket, Vegetarian Biscuit Balls, and the Mexican French Toast are also pretty tasty! The ambiance here is adorable. It's full of bright colors, graffiti, and there is plenty of outside seating. There isn't as much indoor but on a gorgeous fall day like today it could not have been more perfect! For parking there is a small lot in the back but I have found it easier to just park on a side street nearby. Definitely recommend Katalina's for anyone who loves a good brunch! read more

This has now become one of my Must-Visit restaurants in Columbus! Tried Katalina's today for the first time and we absolutely loved it! I ordered the Breakfast Chick 'Wich sandwich and devoured the whole thing while we sat outside on the colorful deck. The Purple Craze Potato Hash on the side was to die for too-- be sure to get some of that if you stop here. My fiancé ordered the Chorizo Tacos and cleaned his plate! We weren't sure if we could finish the famous Pancake Balls (stuffed with Dulce de Leche) but we sure did! With the help of the Watermelon Mint Lemonade, we washed everything down & decided this was one of our new favorite stops; totally worth the just-barely-out-of-the-way drive. I'm conflicted on my rating cause I think this spot is super cute with lots of plusses, but I have to be honest about my experience. The average rating is due to finding alumnium pieces in my food as well as egg shells, which really ruined it for me. However, I don't think this is indicative of the usual experience. I ordered the chick 'wich and shared the pancake balls, cause I've been dying to try that for a while. The chick'wich was good, a little dry for me but the flavors were excellent. The cornchip coating really came through and gave the sandwich a nice flavor profile. As I said, the chicken and the bread was a bit dry but nothing that would ruin the dish completely. I got scrambled eggs to go with my sandwich which unfortunately had some eggshells in it... I usually would go for a sunny side up but I didn't want the yolk to run all over the place. Also runny yolk would have added more moisture to the sandwich, so probably the way to go for the future. The purple hash was also pretty good, I wish I had some sauce to go with it but this is where I found aluminum pieces (see pic). I wasn't sure what it was at first and thought I could just ignore and swallow it but it ended up being a bunch of little pieces of aluminum which was quite upsetting. The pancake balls were great though, we got the pumpkin apple butter and hoped we could do half that and half nutella but it wasn't an option online and we were unsure if commenting that would work. We were missing syrup that goes along with the pancake balls though so that was kind of a sad mishap. Again, that led the meal to be a bit on the dry side. Overall, I think this is a cute breakfast/brunch spot. The outdoor patio looked amazing and I want to take advantage some day. However, quality control was not in my favor today but I'm hoping it was a truly isolated incident. read more

This place is a victorian village staple! (And now a Columbus staple too). It's the best place to grab breakfast/brunch to walk to on the weekends. Historically this place was packed and there was a line out the door, since covid things have changed a bit. Not in the way you think- in that they totally revamped their webpage and made online ordering & curbside pickup available! It was a flawless experience. For the breakfast I highly encourage you to order the Katarina's Latina (pretty classic breakfast sandwich), the hens in a basket (maybe best to wait for eat-in to get those nicely runny eggs) or the breakfast tacos! AND DON'T FORGET THE PANCAKE BALLS. I'm not a sweet breakfast person, or sweets in general but these are a MUST GET. You can have them as a meal but I always share with who I'm grabbing food with. This was a truly special meal in a spectacular setting! Katalina's opens at 8am and my wife, son and I pulled up at about 8:20. There was already a few people seating in the outdoor patio area, but there were still several tables. We examined the menu and then found a prime stop to soak up the sun and enjoy the early morning. Food was out about 10-15 minutes later and we were still one of the only groups on a beautiful Saturday.
