Great customer service and great food! Will go back! Sushi rolls are pretty large also! Pay with cash or debit or you get charged for using a credit card.

Not quite seared, seared yellow tail with spicy (sriracha yuk) tuna and a soup spoon full of jalapeños
Robert P.

I ordered the 12-piece spicy tuna, crunchy roll, yellowpena roll, teriyaki chicken and an order of vegetable tempura. The Good: presentation was OK. The vegetable tempura was OK and met expectations? I didn't expect a quarter of an onion to be a piece of tempura and I didn't expect a tennis ball size of broccoli either. That's a sushi restaurant first for me in 40 years. The teriyaki chicken tasted ok but looked more like Chinese food with broccoli, carrots, onion, bell pepper, and zucchini mixed into the chicken. And that's the GOOD? The Bad: The sushi was on par with the poorest quality sit down restaurant or average fast food quality sushi. I've never had spicy tuna that tasted like it was made with bottled Sriracha in a roll before. The yellow tail on the yellowpeno roll wasn't seared like it states on the menu and it didn't melt in your mouth like you would expect from sushi grade fish. I also expected the jalapeños to be sliced thinner and put on each piece of the role. Instead, there was a soup spoon pile of it in the center of the to-go container. Avocados must've been in season because it was in all three of my rolls. I don't know what to say because I haven't tried the other two sushi restaurant/bars in Tehachapi yet. But coming from coastal Orange County, the quality of this food would put this restaurant out of business in six months. RECAP: Three rolls, teriyaki chicken and vegetable tempura for $95, no drink and no 20% tip for dine-in because it was to go. Also, prices are not advertised on the menu and you don't know what you're paying until after they ring you up. SB-478 California DOJ requires that the restaurant advertise pricing. The law specifically states that no restaurant is allowed to advertise a price less than a consumer would pay or no price at all. If a particular menu item has a price that may fluctuate because of a particular good/ingredient then the menu must state something to that affect.

Service was good and the rolls we ordered were great.. My only knock on the place is an unknown "surcharge" on my bill? I figure it's for using my credit card which I think is just their cost of doing business and I've been known to boycott places that do this in the past.. Time will only tell if we stop in again while passing through..

I can't believe it's been 11 years since I reviewed the first time. At that time I did not eat sushi, I didn't know what I was missing. It is requested every year for a birthday. Food is good and taste fresh. Make sure to order the avocado tempura it is delicious. They are open for lunch and then close until 5 for dinner.

I visited with both my adult daughters, and was immediately greeted by friendly staff and incredible service. The restaurant was clean and organized. My daughters and I ordered bento boxes. We shared each other's food and tasted everything we ordered ranging from yellowtail sashimi, sushi rolls, fried tempura. We had edamame and sake as well. For dessert we had the green tea mochi, not a drop was left. By the end of our meals we were planning our next visit. If you live in town or you're coming to visit, you MUST stop to eat at this Jewel. We are definitely coming back!!!

Nigiri Platter $68, plus two more plates that couldn't fit on the tray! Worth every penny.

We have been craving sushi since we moved up here and Kasagiri didn't disappoint! Loved that it's been family owned and still run since 1991! All of the food was exceptional. The service was quick, friendly and we had a blast. We ordered the Sautéed Edamame, Soft Shell Crab, Nigiri Platter, Garlic Albacore Roll and a Rainbow Roll...all amazing. We did order the Shumai but I think they forgot the order, I just remembered now that it never came. No big deal, we had plenty of food! This is our spot now and we can't wait to go back.

Part of the sushi combo...I ate the rest. DELICIOUS

Hands down best sushi spot in Tehachapi. Huge variety and always delicious! Staff is very kind and service is always good. We love coming here it's our fav!!

Food is typically very good. It is high priced but their rolls are much larger than other sushi places. The service is hit or miss

Best Sushi in town but bad service. The Sushi Chefs are wonderful, but we almost always have trouble with the wait staff.

If I love your welcoming outlook, attractive establishment, and your services I will happily praise you. Well, tonight was a five star time at Midori. Tonight we landed in Tehachapi for a restful 3 day stay. As senior foodie citizens, early dinner at Midori looked like a fine idea. This beautiful restaurant is very convenient to our hotel. We were greeted by the owner who obviously has years of experience in her field based on the beauty of the cuisine and the flow of regular customers she greeted while we were there. The menu is amazing! Tempting sushi, Korean favorites- choices are many. My husband ordered a Bulgogi dinner bowl which was very good. It arrived at the table very quickly. I tasted his meal and was happy because he can be a tough one to please. I thought I would just have a small dinner, but being an explorer, I wanted to sample two special rolls. The "Tehachapi Morning" and the "Sunrise" were gone in a flash as these are easily the best sushi I have ever had. We both agreed on the fantastic sushi rolls- excellent! Delicate slices of lemon (sun analogy) atop the Sunrise roll make this my new favorite anything! The flying fish roe/caviar, tobiko, (versus sturgeon caviar) is refreshing on Tehachapi Morning. It gives a very delicate and classy appearance to an already beautiful creation. My small dinner, plus a small and hot saki became a memorable disappearing act, but no longer small! The sushi chef was great! I love that in such a lovely inland region we can be shown an elegant service by an obviously talented front and back staff. I hope you will stop in while you are in the area and be as pleased and comforted by this high quality experience as were we!

Skip this spot…read more There were fundamental issues with the rice: it's not very sticky, it's somehow mushy, there's too much of it. The fish quality was fine overall, but do yourself a favor and don't order the yellowtail. The saving grace was the spicy tuna. The spice level was delightful, and the heat had a gradual rise.

The place only had a few people there, it was around 5:45. We were promptly seated at a stable for 2. The sever was absolutely awesome young man. Asked for our drinks and gave us time to review all of the sushi choices. After finally remembering the roll thanks to a phone a friend we placed our order. One of my now favorites is a Green Pinky. It is a Salmon sushi roll with a temper salmon in the center. It comes with a lightly spice sauce on the plate. We also ordered a sweet and sour roll which was a first for us. It was really good. Lastly we got the ex-girlfriend. This has been one of regular go ordered roll. The sushi only too a few minutes to arrive and was super fresh, the server checked on us several times to make sure everything was ok and we wanted another roll. We were in and out with ease to make our concert. Highly recommend the Green Pinky!!! It is outstanding. Also add a little of fresh wasabi to the top. Not need for soy. The fresh wasabi adds a little nose clearing kick with a great combined flavor. We have door dash at home and me at work and have never been disappointed. See you next time!!!!

I really hate that I have to give this place a 4 but it's because the spicy edamame was not to my liking and they do not carry pineapple soju. The food is definitely a must try, especially the beautiful yellowtail sashimi. The seafood yakisoba was so delicious. I did not care much for the baked salmon roll, Love Sushi takes first place for that roll and Prime Sushi take first place for spicy edamame. The crazy tuna roll I ordered was so big! The crunchy pieces on top can stand to sit in some absorbing paper towels because they were a bit oily but went well with the Tuna dance. I personally did not care for the bluefin tuna. Overall my babe and I enjoyed our dinner and will most definitely return for more.
