This place truly has great ramen, and I have high standards for my ramen since I live in NYC and get authentic bowls there all the time. I came in fighting a cold and I swear, I felt night and day better after enjoying the hot vegetable miso ramen! It was amazing. If I lived here, this would be one of my regular haunts. Finally, a ramen restaurant I can frequent in CT! The restaurant is clean and elegant - without being overly stuffy. Service is friendly and courteous - not the obsequious type of friendly, but the warm and welcoming type of friendly. Starters: Loved the arugula salad. I personally could have eaten a large bowl of that salad, and hope that they offer a full size version. We ordered it as a starter. We also ordered the Pork Bao, which was really tasty as well. Mains: My friend ordered the special Brisket Ramen. The waiter graciously informed us that the restaurant recently tweaked this recipe to the shank cut of beef, and also offered a version with tripe and tendon. At a previous visit, she had the Shoyu Ramen, which she really enjoyed. She said she liked that the special Brisket/Shank Ramen had an extra kick of spice compared to the Shoyu. I had the TanTan Mazemen which was spicy and excellent. Loved this dish and would order it again. I opted to substitute Nitamago (seasoned egg) for the sunny side up egg, and the dish still had an unctuous, creamy texture. My friend and I shared Chasu (pork belly) and Tae-Dama (extra noodles) as additional toppings - and we eagerly devoured both along with our main meals. No dessert on this visit, but we'll be back and would like to try the Mochi as well as other offerings on their menu. Their menu has many selections without being overwhelming. Finally a good Ramen restaurant in CT! Service is wonderful here and the prices are very reasonable. I always have to order the lamb baos here because they are so damn good, I could probably eat about 6 of them to myself lol I kid, maybe just 4. I always order the miso ramen (spicy) that comes with chashu, corn, bamboo and a half of egg. The broth is always on point, and they give you a good portion of noodles, the egg is always cooked perfectly, the chashu is decent but not the best I've had because all the other good spots I've had ramen out of CT the chashu was tender and would melt in my mouth. The chashu here doesn't do that but I'm not complaining. They have a great bartender here as well, the drinks are always good and refreshing. This is my first ramen place to try in CT. I would give it a solid 3. I started dinner with the lychee lemonade cocktail. The lemonade was good. There was a tiny hint of lychee and I didn't taste the alcohol at all. I'm not sure if there was even alcohol! No effects. I also tried the taro boba tea, which was the best of the night. The boba could be softer, but the taro flavor was good and not powdery. We also had the lamb bao. It was a little too salty for my liking, but the buns were soft and melt in your mouth. Lastly, we had the truffle shoyu ramen. The quantity of noodles and soup was definitely well worth the money. The flavor could be better and the temp could be hotter. I did like that the sides we got for the ramen came in separate plates so that we could add to our liking. I do want to try the poke here, so we will be back for round 2. read more

I come here for the food but not the service. The service is lacking and sometimes makes my experience less enjoyable. There's this one particular server I pray that I don't get everytime I come. She never writes down my order and always gets it wrong or I have things missing. She also doesn't split the bill. most recently I came in with a friend who's never been there before and she only refilled my friends cup and left mine empty! Update: I've now been back to Kaliubon twice since my first experience. I just want to reiterate that Kaliubon has been consistently delicious with great service! Thank you! We started out with the tofu bao, which was tasty and the tofu was crispy, which I liked. My only complaint is that the bao was cold, steamed buns should be STEAMING! We also got the Brussels sprout salad which was truly fantastic! I really enjoyed the vegetarian ramen, and my boyfriend liked the Kaliubon Ramen too. We recently had some much more expensive ramen, and I can honestly say Kaliubon was far better! Our server was very friendly, and the timing was perfect on everything. The ramen at this restaurant was delicious. So flavorful, and the homemade noodles were perfect. Not mushy. My Dad had the combo: tonkotsu ramen with dumplings. He said it was really good. My Mom had the combo: miso ramen with pork bao. She said the pork bao was so delicious and the chashu in the ramen was so tender. They said it rivaled the ramen they get back in L.A. I had the Tokyo chicken ramen which was quite tasty but loved, loved the kaliubon dumplings. Our meals were excellently prepared and for $14, how can you beat that price?!? read more

I really liked Kaliubon! It's in a convenient location with good parking. When entering the restaurant, turn left for the bar and right to be seated in their dining room. The atmosphere was nice. When we got there, we had about twenty minutes left for happy hour. They have both appetizer and drink specials. My husband ordered a beer and we got the pork bao, spice calamari and Korean wings. All three were good, but the Korean wings were definitely the best. The only complaint I have was that the calamari was just a little over done. My husband got the hot and sour ramen special. He loved it but be forewarned- if you can't handle really spicy food, do not order this. I got the Kaliubon Ramen and it was good, thought I felt it was missing something. Finally found a good ramen place that also serves good boba in CT!! My boyfriend and I absolutely love ramen. We have tried some amazing ramen from LA to NYC and even in Japan and we both can agree that Kaliubon Ramen, though not the best we've ever had, is nothing close to being mediocre. Our server, Stacey, was great! She was super quick with our orders, never left our drinks unattended, and was very friendly. Boyfriend and I both ordered the Kaliubon Ramen, spicy, with extra chashu, extra noodles, extra spicy sauce, and milk tea with boba and cappuccino with boba That being said, the ramen can out piping hot! The chashu.. was not the normal spiral looking chashu, it looked a lot like Korean pork belly, grilled. But nonetheless, soft and delicious. Boyfriend and I talked about how the ramen here tastes and looks a lot like an Asian fusion dish.. it had minced pork, chashu that's not really chashu, and really creamy broth. As for the boba... I love boba and since moving here, I have not found a single decent boba place around. I was really surprised that a ramen shop would have such good boba! Their milk tea was creamy and not too sugary and their boba was sweet and chewy AND didn't harden (which I absolutely hate) both the drinks and boba was a solid 8/10. The only thing we wish could have been better is that the extra chashu could have came out hot. My boyfriend and I found this little gem in the middle of our Christmas shopping this past winter. It has since become our ONLY ramen joint. Seriously, we don't go anywhere else now. The Wonton ramen is my fave and my bf swears by the kaliubon ramen. And the pork bao is exquisite! We just stopped by for what seems like our millionth order (take out, because, you know, COVID) and my dumb a** forget to select tapioca for my bubble tea. I called them right up, explained my mistake, and they gladly gave me tapioca for my bubble tea. Now that is some fine customer service!
