This place is so yummy and thank god simi valley finally had some new restaurant that is different than other Mexican food. Truly good food, great wait staff and runners, enjoyed the atmosphere immensely.... My daughter works at Joey Woodland Hills and it has such a great vibe just like Joey. It is not pricey and the pricing is completely fair and balanced especially given todays economy. We tasted a couple different margies got different tacos , chowed on homemade pork rinds and guacamole... and the nachos were laden with flavor and ingredients. Oh yeah tortillas fresh and homemade! Btw still waiting on our bomb dot com desserts. Will add photos shortly read more

Amazing new spot in Simi. We just came for lunch because there was too long of a wait last weekend. We sat at the bar. So impressed!!! The beef empanadas and chimichurri were best I've EVER had. Carnitas tacos with homemade tortillas also a treat. And the Equite corn dish was unbelieveable. Our mango and cucumber margaritas, full of chopped up goodness, also the best in town read more

Beautiful restaurant but the service and food are mediocre. Definitely better choices in the area than this place. Sometimes, I begin to wonder why a restaurant like this which had so much buzz when it opened up, the management is so ignorant to let it go to the bottom of the rankings! read more

Came here last Saturday with friends and family. Ordered the molcajete which was delicious!! Hubby and I shared it. We also shared a pepino con chile margarita pitcher. The margarita is refreshing and so good with the chamoy rim! Love the fresh cucumbers in top. Kids got tacos with rice and beans...fun environment! Staff was attentive...would definitely be back again! Can't wait for the official grand opening. read more

The service was horrible and the food was very mediocre. Party of 5 on a Wednesday night for a "girls night out" dinner & drinks. I ordered the Kava burrito and it was so dry and tasted like ground beef with no flavor. I had to ask for sour cream to help swallow 1/2 of it down. I think it was $3.00 for about an ounce of extremely watered down 'crema'. I also ordered a shot of vodka & asked for the house vodka...she said "but which one, we have Titos or Grey Goose?" I then knew that she was new so just said Grey Goose is fine...I also asked if I could get a soda back which she said "yes" but was charged for an entire soda ($3.50) Thankfully the nachos that my niece ordered were decent, because I would've had to stop on my way home for food and after $60/person I would've been a bit angry. The music wasn't too loud as others complained about and we enjoyed the atmosphere and decor. We also liked the busboy but again, our server was nothing to write home about. She had zero personality, and trust that we tried to get 'something' out of her. For a party of 5, 1 small, I mean tiny, basket of chips and about 2 ounces of salsa goes pretty quick so we had to ask her 2 times for chips, we finally asked the busboy for some and he gladly, on his own, brought us 2 baskets and extra salsa!! Yes finally...we all wished HE was our server...he brought us laughs and truly turned our evening around. I wish I would've grabbed his name to give him the proper props he deserves. Anyway, going back to our server, She's the one that recommended the Kava burrito and afterwards we jokingly told her not to ever recommend it and she said "well I don't eat meat, so I wouldn't know"....yikes! More training and possibly even new hires, all the way around, will be needed for the unique experience that the restaurant is trying to go for. We'll give it some time before we try again as Simi really needs this restaurant to succeed. Kalaveras Management: PLEASE hire outgoing and up-beat servers, or atleast servers with SOME personality! This is very important in order to continue the fun vibes that the music and decor meet the customers at the front door with. We feel like the prices of the food was definitely not up to par with the food OR service we received. read more

This place is amazing!! Such a great addition to Simi, their food & drinks are delish & their service is outstanding. All the staff is really on top of it, I went to eat with my family and the server was constantly checking in to make sure everything was good & even the manager, Martha, came by to check on us to make sure everything was great too. The ambiance is so dope they turn the lights down to set the mood, have glow in the dark graffiti walls & the music is loud enough to have a conversation & get the good vibes rollin. Definitely my new favorite spot, can't wait to go back this weekend & celebrate my birthday there! Highly recommend!! read more

If you just want some Instagram pictures and some drinks with a lot of ice, then go here. I was so excited to have a Mexican restaurant in our area that seemed more hip and upbeat but unfortunately, the food was not where it's at. I think it would be fine to have a few drinks if you're looking for your Instagram moment. read more

Kendal was wonderful and awesome! She was helping us while also moving around the restaurant helping many other tables and we didn't have to wait long for anything! This was my first time at the restaurant and will be back! read more

I came for lunch for the first time. My mom and I thought the food was amazing! I had the Quesa Birria Tacos and my mom had the Nachos with carne asada . Everything was so flavorful and seasoned just right. Big portions of food. Great music playing. Laura, our server, was great. Super friendly and attentive. Definitely recommending to all my friends and family. I'll totally be coming back again!! read more

We were so excited for this place to open and have been dying to go. What a disappointment!! I ordered the Kala bowl which was not a bowl at all but just a salad. They forgot to put the rice and tortilla strips in it. Drinks were ok but very light alcohol for the high price tag. The service was ok for the first half of our visit but the second half was horrible. Our server stopped checking on us, we would have ordered another drink & I also asked for more chips and salsa which never came. We finally got up to go to the front to ask for our check and boom our server appeared. Then they charged us the wrong tab which was almost double ours. So I had to track him down and ask him to fix it, I was so frustrated I just paid the 2nd tab without checking it (stupid I know) which in hindsight still felt too high. Now we have over $300 in charges from them on our card, supposedly he voided the first one. I know things happen but the mix of mediocre food at a high price tag, bad service and meh drinks, sadly we won't be back. I'll stick to Don Cuco where I know I'm going to get good food and a delicious STRONG Cadillac margarita. I personally loved their decor and didn't mind the loudness and music read more

Great service. Kendal killed it. The drinks were fun & good. The food was fresh, delicious, & flavorful. Of course the ambience & the lighting was festive. Felt like we were at a party! read more

Looking forward to trying a new place in Simi. Atmosphere was great, super modern Mexican vibe. Service was terrible. Haley just phoned it in, bored as heck. Five of the six meals came to the table, someone forgot the 6th meal. oh well. No one cared. no chips at the table. Music repeated and repeated and repeated, and it was too loud. Food was ok, not really special. Margarita was just ok, again, nothing special. We won't be going back. Prices were high, we paid for the atmosphere, not the food quality and certainly not the service. The one star was for decor. read more

Food is good but service is pretty bad even on the slow days. Was in there at 4 pm on a Sunday and they hardly had customers but a ton of waiters. All of them where talking to each other but to busy to take our order it seems like. They brought out the dip and chips very fast then forgot about us. After 20 minutes we just left without putting in an order or getting anything to drink. read more

I tried this place for the first time yesterday and everything was so good! First off they were having happy hour so the margaritas were only 8$ only 30$ for a piture which is well worth it if ur out with friends I got the asada tacos and they were fresh and delicious, the bartender who's name I unfortunately didn't get was soo down to earth and very accommodating! Not to mention if you like reggaton this is the place to be! I can't wait to come back with friends on a weekend night! read more

Great food, great staff. Been two times and each time the staff was friendly and attentive. I won't lie, the food is a little expensive but I've been happy with the quality of food each time. read more

I was so excited to try this new restaurant!. What a HUGE disappointment! I ordered a carne asada quesadilla and it was awful! No sour cream, a tablespoon of guacamole , and the quesadilla was greasy and nasty. The meat was thin and over cooked. The sauce was really spicy- like they were trying to hide the awful meat. I don't know. What I know is that I won't be back for this over priced appetizer. I spent $25+ for a quesadilla and an Arnold Palmer. read more

First off, Kevin is absolutely amazing!! He constantly checked in to see if we were doing good. Me and my table loved him. The whole feel of the place and the vibe of it all is so impressive. The birthday shots and the regular whole table shots were so fun. The music and everything just 1000/10. The food was great, and everyone at our table had such a good time. Thank you Kalaveras!! read more

We were looking forward to try this place. Food was awful and overpriced. Drinks were fine. Service was ok. The waitress attempted to make up for a mistake that was made and I appreciated that. Her managers ruined the entire experience. Demanded a tip when it should have been included in the total bill. Even ran after our family and harassed them. Later they realized it was a mistake on their end. Vey unprofessional. Terrible experience. read more

Justin and Edgar provided such great customer service. Food was also great, drinks were great, atmosphere was amazing. Great customer service over all. Would definitely recommend and go back! read more

Service was horrible. Once we were seated we waited and waited until a waitress asked if we had been helped. Food is overprized for the portion size and there was nothing special about it. Will not be returning. read more

Everything was great, food , drinks , service. Special thanks to Jennifer for an amazing service .

Jennifer was amazing. Her recommendations were on on point and her service was outstanding.

The food was good. Our waitress was great. We had about 3/4 of our meal packed up to bring home in a bag on the table. We paid and walked to the parking lot. Less than a minute later we realized we forgot our bag of food, went inside to retrieve it and was told by the bus boy that instead of sitting it aside that he threw it away. Surprised by this we said "you threw it away instead of setting it aside?" His response was cavalier and stated, " this happens every 5 minutes" then walked away. It was not customer service based at all and in fact was rude. I called to speak with a manager and the way they rectify it is by saying " oh sorry" again not very customer service oriented. There are lots of other places to eat in Simi, so I'll try somewhere else next time read more

The food service and ambiance was wonderful 10/10 I loved the molcajete the drinks were awesome and the dessert was Devine

Went with my hubby on Sunday night. Our decision was made on a whim with zero expectations. We were greeted enthusiastically, which always helps bring a smile. Loved the vibe, festive and unique! I just googled and I was surprised to see there are many locations. It doesn't have a chain feel. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful with suggestions and our food was absolutely delicious! Crave worthy! My husband loved his margarita. I am a wine person and my cab hit the spot! There was only one red wine on the menu and I was skeptical (wasn't going to be that person ...asking to taste it before ordering) but it did not disappoint! yummy! Upbeat atmosphere however the loud music and lighting can become over stimulating! Thankfully I am not prone to seizures. It's a super fun place for about an hour so. If you're sensitive to loud music and flashing lights eat quickly! It can be done and we'll go back hungry and ready to take on that challenge! Great addition to Simi Valley! Especially post pandemic! read more

Kalaveras - Moon - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Simi Valley, California

Inside the restaurant is alright! Seem cool I guess! The service was very friendly and attentive. I ordered a cucumber margarita $14, it tasted more like juice than alcohol. Food wise I ordered the the molcajete $45, meat was so dry, shrimp had no flavor at all. prices for drinks and food is not worth it for me personally. I highly doubt I will be back to this place. read more

Decided to try this place out and it exceeded all of my expectations! I came during the afternoon Taco Tuesday on which they have discounts on, you guessed it, tacos- which were seriously delicious. The food was also out very quickly which was appreciated. The restaurant is super cool inside and I love what they did with the place. All of the servers were incredibly nice as well!!! Overall a great place that I would 100% recommend checking out read more

Tried Kalaveras for the first time today during happy hour and it was very good! The hubby and I shared the nachos with carnitas. They were huge, could have been for 4 people. The whole dish was delicious and huge. The different flavors really work well together. For main courses, I had an asada taco and a shrimp taco, both very good. I loved the corn tortillas and the green salsa served along side. Hubby had a classic burrito with chicken and both red and green Sauces, half & half. The chicken was very tastey and moist. Everything tasted very fresh and was bursting with flavor. We were both very pleased with the food and the service (Kevin was our waiter and he was awesome). We will definitely be going back to try more things! The dessert sounded amazing but we were too stuffed to try it yet. Oh, and we didn't have to ask for chips & salsa, he told us he'd bring us some right away and it was also very tastey. I wish I had pics to share but I dove into the food too quickly so I'll try to remember to take some next time! read more

Such a sad experience, especially after anticipating a brand new restaurant in Simi. We arrived on Sunday April 26 at 3pm. and first of all, the host was on the phone and didn't even acknowledge anyone waiting.. nothing at all. Then we were seated and waited about 20 minutes with no server in sight, we asked another server if he knew who our server was and he replied with "It's not my table". We decided to walk out and go to Yolandas. We told the hostess that we're were leaving because no one had helped us and didn't seem like they were..her response was "Okay". Wow! I mean if your gonna spend your money there, the least they can do is be nice and not act like they are doing you a favor. What happened to taking pride in your business. Sad! read more

My husband and I had been watching as Kalaveras was being created from the fresh dark paint to the amazing Skull and Rose paintings on the outside of the business. We finally heard of it's opening and went today (March 25th). Simi has alot of restaurants serving Mexican style cuisine and we were hoping that Kalaveras was going to be different. Well, we were very pleasantly surprised with how amazing the restaurant looks inside and the fantastic customer service we received (Thank You Haley)! However, we were blown away with how absolutely delicious the food was! We both ordered the Kala bowls and I'll tell you what....they were absolutely mouth watering from the portions to the quality of the food. The Asada was superb and the salad sensational! The chips were very good and the salsa was so yummy we couldn't stop eating it even after we were so full! So happy to have a new restaurant in Simi that we LOVE and will definitely revisit!!! read more

Josue looked out #1 bartender definitely coming back . on top of his game good looking out bro bro .
