Came here for a friends birthday celebration and they were kind enough to accommodate a large party of 20 rowdy girls. The place is super colorful and loud, which was ok for this group that was ready to party!!Lots of different entrees were ordered, carne asada tacos, shrimp bowl, enchiladas, albondiga soup , taquitos, quacamole , ceviche is what I could see from my side of a long table. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. Albondiga soup was good but could have been seasoned better and the taquitos were just ok for me. My sister had the carne asada tacos and she said they were good. Guacamole was also good, free chips and salsa were also tasty. The flight of margaritas were not only beautiful but so good, it comes with 4 different margaritas and the wood tray they come on is lit on Service overall was great and everyone had a great time. Super colorful decor and upbeat reggaeton music and screens with music videos playing at all times. Birthday girl got a birthday shot that came in a lighted skull head that was shooting out sparks. Come check them out you will have a blast ;) read more

Brunch buffet was terrible. They definitely under delivered. Small selection for price, enchiladas were so dry, menudo was super salty, the tortillas they were making for the tacos were undercooked because they were trying to hurry, the pan dulce was hard. And they don't carry sugar free syrup for all the Diabetic people. Again overly priced for what they offer. El Torito charges the same but they have more selection and better quality. Oh and the salsas are catered to white people, no spice. Never again! read more

Finally went to this place and wanted to see what was all the fuzz about. The deco is cool like the Mexican Artistic wall and lighting, however when you have continuing playing Bad bunny videos not even a pinche minuto break your soul stars to hurt. The food was to bland we ordered a variety of plates and looks like they used the same sauce on all the food. The food was "cooked" too fast, I can still smell the microwave oven smell. The drinks were ok, but get ready to black market your organs for the prices. They will rush you out to bring in the next victims. Parking is mierda to find a spot. The taco guy down the street food is better and more friendly. read more

This new Mexican restaurant where Chili Pepper used to be, did not disappoint. My salmon tacos were great and the mole ranchero was excellent. We also got queso fundido as an appetizer - it was very good! It is hard to find places that even serve queso fundido. It was a fun and funky atmosphere. Yes, it is $40 for adults and $19.99 for kids.

We were there on Sunday, October 3rd around 3pm. We asked who the owners were because we were really impressed with the place and thought they might be the same owners as another location we had visited. There was absolutely no bad intention behind the question. The male bartender told us that no one name drops anymore. I understood what he was saying and was more than willing to move on. But then I asked him if the bar offered whiskey sours and he responded, "You really don't know what you're doing here and what you want." I was honestly so taken back by that comment. I don't normally stay quiet when someone speaks to me disrespectfully, but I was so caught off guard that I didn't even know what to say. Before that, he had also yelled out to the host that she didn't need to worry because we didn't know the owners and that she could relax. The whole interaction was completely unnecessary and made us feel very uncomfortable. We came in wanting to enjoy the atmosphere and have a good time. Instead, we left feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. There is a way to speak to customers, even if you feel they are asking questions you don't like. We did nothing to deserve that kind of attitude. The Blind Rabbit may be a great place, but unfortunately, the way we were treated by this bartender completely ruined the experience for us. Customer service matters, and unfortunately, ours was extremely disappointing.

She had seen the Afternoon Tea and had been interested but as it was a Tuesday she could not avail herself of it. My family had been unable to take me to my choice of a birthday meal. We would have an event to go to in the evening and to make sure we had at least one meal in our busy day I made a reservation for Afternoon Tea on the website for 3:30 PM on Friday. In that way, everybody could get there from work. We arrived about 5 minutes before our reservation and were shown shortly to our table. I'm glad that our Afternoon Tea would be indoors because it was quite humid. Noah would be our server. We asked for help with our tea choice as we were debating between Jasmine Pearl and Jasmine Blossom. Noah made a good recommendation with the Jasmine Pearl. We liked it so much that we had 3 pots adding water. Noah also offered a choice of another tea to the delight of the young ladies in our party who wanted a black tea having worked early morning shifts. They chose the Earl Grey. Noah let us know that even though it was a set menu that we could add on other food from the menu. The young ladies seriously considered ordering sesame Dan Dan noodles before the delivery of the 2-3 tier serving stands with sweet and savory delights from the kitchen. The manager or one of the leads from the kitchen introduced the offerings on the 3 tiers. There were 2 savory tiers which are the middle and bottom. The bottom tier has Honey Walnut Shrimp Youtiao, BBQ Pork Puff Pastry, and Tea Egg Sandwich with Taiwanese bread. The middle tier is your vegetable crudite with whipped tofu and chili crunch and flatbread. The top tier is your sweet desserts of mango sago pudding (the ladies appreciated the garnishing with a small, delicate flower), egg tart with raspberry and a fleck of gold, fresh strawberry slices, and black sesame cookies with an extra one for the member of our party with a coconut allergy. Each of the 4 in our party also was delivered a bamboo steamer with 3 plump Siu Mai. The very plump Siu Mai had everybody looking for vegetables which we liked with the whipped tofu and chili crunch which we have eaten in the Mapo Lamb Dip. We liked scooping up the whipped tofu with the flatbread. Other teas give you miniscule portions. The pork puff pastry is generous and we had to go halfsies or we wouldn't have room for dessert. The most favored item was the honey walnut shrimp youtiao which we have not had anywhere else. The tea egg sandwich is topped with a quarter of a hard-boiled egg giving you more egg. The raspberry on the egg tart was fresh and sweet. The strawberry slices were also fresh and sweet. The half of the party that could have the mango sago pudding enjoyed it tremendously. The black sesame cookies were buttery and nutty which was wonderful to have with the jasmine pearl tea. We had plenty to eat and a few pastries and Siu mai to take home. We were in no way rushed so we really enjoyed our Afternoon Tea. Regular customers were seated elsewhere in the restaurant and it was quite peaceful and restful after a hard day's work. This is a great Afternoon Tea to bring a mother, too. My daughter found out that the tea service used was from Williams Sonoma Famille Rose collection. My taste is more contemporary, but roses are my favorite flower and it was still a nice tea setting. I loved my belated birthday tea as did everyone in my party even the man of the family. I will need to bring my girlfriends. My father would enjoy this as well. We're so glad that Qua started having this Afternoon Tea.

We walked in around 3-4pm on a Tuesday- place was empty... There wasn't a soul inside. There was a bar tender cleaning glasses and he looks up and says "you guys looking for a place to sit?" I instantly responded "No, we're looking for lunch is this place open?" He seemed so bothered by us which was the second red flag after his lil "looking to sit down" comment. He proceeded to sit us down at the farthest corner from the door. We ordered our drinks. And when the waiter brought my friends coke, it looked so flat it almost looked like ice tea from 10 feet away. It was so obvious that it had no carbonation. I made a joke about it and we laughed. There wasn't a single bubble of carbonation in the entire glass, it was so bad. We joked and laughed about it when the waiter came back my friend said to him " I think this is the flattest coke I've ever been served" in a joking manner (it literally looked like ice tea) the waiters reaction was sooooo rude, he rolled his eyes, said something to my friend in a snarky tone which I didn't really hear but the way he grabbed the drink and walked away was really unnecessary and overly aggressive He was so bothered by him serving us a flat Coke? I didnt understand why he took that snarky attitude but my friend works as a waiter so his solution was to throw money at the waiter in hopes that he would stop treating us like we were 2 homeless dudes in a soup kitchen. When he brought the drink (as an olive brand and so he wouldn't spit in our food )my friend handed him a 20$... every time he came to our table my friend would hand him 20$ in cash and apologize. He came at least 3-4 times to check on us but I was already no feeling his vibe. My friend tipped him significantly more than what our bill even was. I was upset by that but my friend said it's a server/waiter thing. So if someone treats you poorly you throw money at them? I don't get the logic But regardless... There's a reason why nobody was here at this business during lunch. Food was mid. Nothing special. Service was bad, confrontational and just over the top sassy for no reason. I don't recommend I wouldn't come here even if it was free!

Visited Kalaveras to check out their happy hour, and the experience started off on a high note. The ambiance was inviting, and I was excited to enjoy some fun bites and drinks. However, things took a turn when they dimmed the lights and cranked up the music. What was once a cozy dining atmosphere transformed into an awkward daytime restaurant turned nightclub. It became difficult to have a conversation with the person next to me, which was disappointing. On a positive note, I appreciated the convenient parking located at the back of the building, with plenty of spots available. For our meal, we kicked things off with the cheese nachos and Taquitos Dorados (potato), and we wrapped it up with some buffalo wings. The food was, unfortunately, just average overall. The nacho chips appeared to be freshly made, which was a nice touch, and the Taquitos Dorados were decent as well. However, none of the dishes really stood out to me. Overall, Kalaveras has potential, but the vibe shift from relaxed dining to a loud club made it less enjoyable. If you're looking for a chill happy hour, you might want to keep this in mind! read more

Had a great time at Kalavera Bar & Lounge for Happy Hour and Taco Tuesday! They offer $1.49 tacos with a variety of meats, including al pastor, asada, and more. One of the highlights was their self-serve salsa and condiment bar, where you can load up your tacos with onions, cilantro, and different salsas. Mine ended up extra loaded, which was a big plus. They also have $5 draft beers during Happy Hour and other great drink specials. The staff was awesome. Ricardo was super friendly, and Fernanda, our bartender, was very nice and attentive. The only thing I was not a huge fan of was the strobing lights from the calaveras by the bar. They flash in sync with the music, and for me, it was a bit overstimulating. Also, it would be helpful if they labeled the salsas at the bar. When the lights are low, it is hard to tell what is what. I accidentally grabbed a spicy salsa thinking it was beans. Luckily, I love spice, but that could be a surprise for someone who does not. Overall, great spot, great tacos, and great vibes. I will definitely be back! Ps: they have their own private parking which is a big plus read more

Atmosphere/Ambiance/Service: 5/5 The service was top-notch, even though the restaurant was bustling our servers checked in often. Looking at other reviews, this seems pretty consistent. The atmosphere is definitely lively, bordering on club-like. Don't come looking for a quiet, intimate dinner. Food: 5/5 I have to say, the Mokajefe is a serious meal. Don't be fooled - it's definitely meant for sharing. The portion size is huge, so if you're ordering for yourself or for a couple, keep in mind that it's more like a dish for 3-4 people. That being said, every part of this pu pu platter hit hard. How are the drinks? The answer is yes. Other: 3.5/5 One thing to keep in mind is that despite a sizable parking lot in the back, the popularity of Kalaveras means that it can take a while to find a spot. Overall, I had a great time at Kalaveras and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, energetic dining experience. read more

Unfortunately, this visit was a big disappointment. I've been to this location before and have always had a good experience, so I was surprised by how poor the service was this time. We stopped by Sunday around 2 p.m. Our server was not attentive and repeatedly asked if we were ready to pay, coming to our table at least three times. She brought the check without asking if we wanted another round of drinks or dessert, even though we were planning to order more. We ended up feeling rushed and unwelcome. Before leaving, a manager asked how everything was. We explained what happened, but his response felt very vague and dismissive, and there was no real effort to address our concerns. It's unfortunate because we were planning to stay longer and order more, but the service completely changed our experience. I left very disappointed and don't plan on returning anytime soon. read more

I husband and I tried their new restaurant in Orange on Main Street and we were very pleased. Staff was pleasant and on top of everything. The food was delicious. We checked out the regular menu and plan to visit again for either breakfast or dinner We want to give a shout out to MJ who was our servicer. She was efficient, sweet and personable. Everyone was welcoming! And although chili pepper was our go to spot for many many years, we were very pleased with its replacement. We wanted to leave a review for MJ but I am not very good at these things & couldn't find where to do that. Please take note of my comment re: MJ / she is the best!! It is such a pleasure to go into a restaurant where everyone is happy to see you. And if every employee is as well trained as MJ, you will be well served yourself as a business! read more

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kalaveras, and I must say, it was a truly exceptional experience! The atmosphere was vibrant and lively, making it an ideal spot for a night out with friends or a date. The cocktail menu was impressive, with a range of creative and delicious options, including the standout Sangrita Spritz. And the food? Absolutely divine! Food- decent the happy hour is great and specials Ambiance- very inviting flavorful and bright love it Service- Now this is where it goes bad- it's very slow- and when i say slow like tortoise race slow. Took about 15 min till we sat for them to come to our table after that we saw the server maybe twice in an hour had to get up three times to ask, at this point i was so over it that we got up and left and I told my husband aka for the check once and if they don't bring it and it takes a while walk out, this is very disappointing and inexcusable. It wasn't that busy when we went so with three servers and maybe 4 tables with less then 4 people at each of them this shows me they are very unorganized and need to retrain there people how to provide better service or this business will fail. read more

Kalaveras is a vibe. Food is decent . Taco Tuesday is a must. You tell the server how many tacos you want. They give you a receipt and you go to the back and someone heats up your tortillas. Then you tell them what types of tacos you want and then they place the meat on your tortilla. Then you go to the salsa bar and dress up your tacos. Tacos were decent. My least favorite is pastor bc they cube the meat and that made it chewy. Asada was decent but I wished it had a crispy char on the outside. I loved the barbacoa . Skip the chicarron . Margarita was strong. I was pleased by the chips and salsa. Place was decorated nicely. They had a nice spacious parking lot. Outside of the building had awesome graffiti art. read more

I recently dined at Kalaveras and was immediately struck by the bold artwork both outside and inside the restaurant, providing plenty of Insta-worthy backdrops. The prices are fair and the food, while decent, lacks any SPICY salsas - a notable downside for spice enthusiasts. This establishment leans towards Americanized Mexican cuisine, offering a mix of classic dishes and creative twists on others. My standout dish was the aguachiles (I would've loved to have that salsa for my other dishes), which was truly exceptional. While some other dishes didn't quite hit the mark, they were still enjoyable. The service was prompt and efficient, leaving me eager to return and explore more of their menu offerings. read more

11/21/22 We've been waiting for quite awhile for this place to open, as we pass by it a few times a week. Finally, we decided to give it a try. It's quite different from the Chili Pepper. The lighting is unique, but could be a "tad" brighter. The food was very tasty and not your "run of the mill" menu. We had an excellent server, Emmanuel! As I eagerly awaited my delicious meal at the restaurant, I couldn't help but notice the tantalizing sight of everyone around me indulging in crispy chips and zesty salsa. The food on my plate was undeniably yummy, but the communal enjoyment of the appetizing chips felt like a missed opportunity. It would have been thoughtful of the waitress to mention the complimentary chips, or better yet, have a sign to let customers opt in for this delightful treat. Feeling slightly left out, I couldn't help but wish for that shared experience that seemed to heighten the dining ambiance for everyone else. read more

The plate is generous and we ordered our usual of burritos, quesadillas, tacos and huevos. My favorite is the Avila's chicken noodle soup!

Our water glasses were always full, and they kept the table clean as soon as we finished a plate. The food was good, but not the best I've tried. I had the Grande Taco Salad, and I really enjoyed it. We also ordered the seafood tacos, but unfortunately, the shrimp had a little bit of a soapy taste. We let our server know, and they were very nice about it and offered to get her something else. A note for anyone who doesn't eat pork: ask for the beans prepared "a la olla" instead of the refried beans. I asked our server if the refried beans were made with manteca (pork lard), and he confirmed that they were, so just something to be aware of when ordering. The restaurant itself has a lot of character. It used to be a church, so it has beautiful colorful windows with designs, lots of wood inside, and some huge, beautiful lamps in the middle. They also have outdoor seating, but it was way too hot to sit outside when we went. Overall, it was a nice first visit, especially because of the friendly service and atmosphere. I'm giving it 4 stars because of the soapy taste in the shrimp and because, while the food was good, I've had better Mexican food at other places.
