The restaurant has such a cool look and vibe! We started off with the Hamachi crudo, salmon ceviche, and a bowl of clam "chowdah". The crudo was absolutely delicious, highly recommend. The salmon ceviche was really good but a bit heavy on the sauce for me. The clam chowder had whole clams in the shell throughout. That was fun to pick them out! For entrees we got the lean and mean plate with sea bass. It comes with salad and rice, we substituted the rice for black beans. We also got the skirt steak "bulgogi" which was served on top of mushrooms and bok choy with a sweet soy sauce. They accidentally brought out salmon instead of sea bass, but were very apologetic. They brought out a sea bass on the side and comped the entree to make up for it. Great service right there! The salmon and seabass were both delicious and cooked perfectly. The steak was tender and juicy, full of flavor. As a birthday gift they brought out a thai milk tea blondie sundae which was soooo good! Get it if you like sweets. I wish the owners all the best in their future endeavors, they created a great restaurant that many will miss. The fish was fresh, good size portion for lunch - might be a bit light for dinner. I'm so glad I gave it another try. We returned last night and sat at the sushi bar for the omakase, and the entire experience was excellent. The service was warm, attentive, and welcoming, and the omakase was fantastic from beginning to end. Each piece was beautifully presented and thoughtfully prepared, with a great variety of fish, textures, and toppings. The fish tasted incredibly fresh, and several of the pieces were absolutely beautiful, especially the richer tuna and toro pieces and the delicate white fish. I also really enjoyed the traditional style of the experience. At the sushi bar, the first 10 pieces are chef's choice, and the focus is very much on the fish rather than elaborate American-style rolls. The progression of the omakase felt intentional, and it was fun seeing what would come next. Most importantly, the quality and service were completely different from the experience I wrote about all those years ago. It's only fair to update a review when a restaurant deserves it, and Ohshima absolutely did on this visit. We had a wonderful dinner and I would happily return. This was a complete turnaround for me and easily a five-star experience.

Sushi chef only said what each item was as he would put it on our plates, but did not mention where it's from, its source, or even make convos despite us being 1 of 2 parties there (4 ppl total). It wasn't busy and I can see why... Uni pasta was bland and lacked flavor but was a good size for $28. The green tea flan was grainy and overcooked where the bottom had a bread texture...$10 is a reasonable price but quality was poor. $3 hot green tea was fine. For 2 orders of 13 pc omakase, 1 hot green tea, 1 uni pasta, and 1 green tea flan, the damage ended up being just under $400 after tax and tip. Definitely overpriced for zero convos with chef nor waitress really other than to ask if we wanted to add anything else. Unfortunately, what used to be ohshima is no longer there and this restaurant that's in its place is not one I'd probably ever return to.
