I hate having to write this because I've been to Kalaveras in Orange many times and have always enjoyed it. That's what makes this experience even more disappointing. A group of us came in and spent around $500. We ordered several appetizers and shared different plates because everything looked so good. I personally ordered the tacos gobernador. That night and the next day was awful. I started vomiting, had severe diarrhea, missed work, and my child also got sick after eating. Because of what happened, I called the restaurant to let them know and make them aware. I wasn't expecting an argument--I just wanted them to take the situation seriously. But I was being confused for someone that had already called earlier that day with the same problem. I felt completely brushed off. The response I received was basically, "Thanks for your comment." When I spoke with a supervisor he came across as aggressive and made me feel like I wasn't even allowed to express my concerns about what happened. As a regular paying customer, that was incredibly frustrating. I'm not saying restaurants don't have challenges or that mistakes can't happen. But when customers spend hundreds of dollars, we deserve quality food, proper food safety practices, and to be treated with respect when we report a serious issue. Whether this was a food handling problem or cross-contamination, my experience should have been taken seriously instead of dismissed.
We came in last night at 8:30. I had put in a reservation on Yelp ahead of time just in case there was a wait. When we got there, I let the server know but it didn't seem to matter because he didn't ask my name or time, he just seated us. That works for me! Glad we didn't have to wait, we had to make it a fast meal! We waited about 5 minutes before we were greeted by our waitress. I had seen they had just started serving the soft serve margaritas on their IG and I was SUPER excited to order one! I asked our waitress (Rosie) what flavors were available and she had to ask someone else. Ok, no worries, they had mango and strawberry. I asked for a swirl. My husband ordered a shot of patron anejo sherry cask. She did not seem to understand what he was asking for even though it was an item listed on the menu. He repeated himself a couple times and even pointed to it on the menu before she said "I'll have to check with the bar" she took the rest of our order which consisted of another cocktail, the empanadas, and an order of enchiladas. She left for a bit and came back saying they had his tequila. Then another waitress came back a few moments later asking how he wanted his tequila. After our order was in, we received our chips and salsa. The salsa was delicious! Not too long after, my empanadas came out and they were overdone. Burnt. The pastry was bitter, but not just because it was overcooked, but because it seems like the oil was old. The filling wasn't what I was expecting, but it was tasty. My husband's enchiladas were good. I had one bite. After our meal, husband ordered one more cocktail and the dessert chimichanga. Same bitter oil taste on the chimichanga, I wasn't a fan. When we were brought the check, it turns out we were overcharged for the tequila. We brought it up to the waitress and she told him he ordered a different one when he had repeated "patron anejo sherry cask" to her multiple times. I don't even know if there's more than one sherry cask tequila on the menu! Anyway, she was able to adjust the bill to charge us for the correct tequila but the husband still didn't get to drink the tequila he wanted. Oh well.
Such a fun place to go to for brunch. Fantastic food, drinks, and service! I loved the decor and how clean the restaurant is.
This place is def fun with coworkers. Food is flavorful and usually comes out hot. Service is amazing our waiter made all of us laugh and enjoy the dinner more than just the company. Music and lights fill the air. It's awesome because birthdays and special occasions involve the entire restaurant with an MC announcement it was awesome... def recommend early check-in because after 5pm it's a wait out the door.
Pretty long time to get food & to get check but other than that the food was fairly good . The asada ( not shown ) was really tasty. Not hanging fresh brewed ice tea is always a bummer for me & but to most people that's not a big deal .
Very nice! Our friends brought up this place to meet at although they're extremely familiar with Mexican food already. The restaurant looks welcoming and artsy, although the interior is quite dark for my 58-year old eyes. Keep that phone on and use the flashlight to read the menu! And YES, they offer Mexican Coca Cola which is such an improvement over the overly sweet US Coca Cola. A must have. Our margarita flight is lovely in presentation, color, although the tequila level seems a bit low... I love the lemony and cucumber ones in particular. Trio enchiladas are sumptuous, well prepped. The Mexican rice plus beans are a nice addition. My better half's quesabirria tacos are equally lovely in terms of texture, filling and shell strength (none of the sissy stuff that tears easily). Only one thing, there's very little heat in any of the dishes, including the salsa. Also the salt content is quite low which for a high blood guy is appreciated..... but for taste I'd expect a bit more. Just an FYI to ask for salt when needed and the restaurant offers small packets.
Came here for lunch. The place has a fun and vibrant vibe! I wish we could have gone at night to fully enjoy the ambiance. The staff is really nice and we were seated right away. We ordered a margarita flight, then got asada and chicharon tacos, and asada fajitas for our entrees. To finish the meal on a sweet note, we ordered the apple chimichanga for dessert. Margarita Flight- The presentation is so cute and they start by lighting the board on fire. The flight comes with pepino, guava, jamaica, and chamoyada. I appreciate the range of flavors and they were all tasty. The pepino was my favorite, it was sweet and refreshing. Asada Taco- Love the house made corn tortilla! The asada was juicy and tender. It had a lovely flavor and I appreciate the generous amount of filling. Chicharon Taco- Pork belly tender with a light crisp on the skin. It was seasoned to perfection. Asada Fajitas- I love the extra smoky char brought on by the sizzling platter. It was served on a bed of onions, tomatoes, bellpeppers, and mushrooms. Apple Chimichanga- The apple filling had a delightful amount of cinnamon sugar. The shell was warm and crisp. The whipped cream and vanilla ice cream provided a nice contrast and tied the flavors together. Great experience overall!
Pretty bomb food was solid, service was solid. Just a little pricey but still it was poppin and solid food! Free Chips and Salsa on arrival. Wet burrito with shrimp was bangin they celebrate birthdays and have a dj I think
We landed here before a concert at the Honda Center because everything closer to the venue was absolutely packed, and honestly, that turned out to be a win. We've been to Kalaveras locations before and enjoy the brand, and this location delivered exactly what we expected. One thing you can count on with Kalaveras is consistency: similar vibe, similar menu, and a similar high-energy experience no matter which location you visit. The Orange spot is no different. The interior is vibrant and lively, with bold colors and neon accents that immediately set the mood. It's festive, upbeat, and a fun place to kick off a night out before a show. Food-wise, we were very happy. The birria tacos were flavorful, rich, and satisfying (see picture), exactly what you want when you're hungry and gearing up for a concert. I also enjoyed the house burrito, which was a hit and easily holds its own among the many options on the menu. All in all, great food, a fun atmosphere, and a solid alternative when the area around Honda Center is slammed. We'd absolutely do it again. For the record, this is maybe 5 minutes from the Honda Center.
Atrocious parking aka find a place to park in another plaza nearby or risk being towed by parking next door. Came for our friend's birthday and the environment was super lively + the servers helped make the experience memorable by bringing out our friend's cake and a sign. However, the food is overpriced with these pollo and asada tacos being around ~$13.
This place has delicious food, but their customer service could really improve. My wife and I placed an online order to eat during lunch break from work. We were given a time frame of 12:50-1:10 to pick the food up. We got there at 1:10 and did not receive our food until about 1:35. I could tell they were giving us the run around when I asked why it was taking so long when they only had 3 customers in the restaurant! If it was busy, I understand but it wasn't! We spent almost half of our lunch break just waiting for the food. RIDICULOUS!! And this has also happened to other co workers. Our mistake for not believing them. Also, this place had an expired business license. This location doesn't seem to be well organized. Do yourself a favor, and take the drive to a different location if you really want food from here.

I do love the theme of this restaurant! The drinks look amazing I only ordered a beer but next time I'll try a cocktail. I ordered their ceviche though and it was less than mediocre. For a $20 appetizer I felt scammed. I did not order anything else as we were going somewhere else after. The bartender was nice. read more

Came here for a birthday dinner and it was my first time, we got the Birria tacos for appetizer and it was delicious think it was $22 for 3 tacos. For entree I got the molcajete cause I couldn't decide on what meat I wanted. Molcajete came out a lot would prolly serve 2 people, I ended up taking it to go. The meat weren't bland but nothing too special with the seasoning, certain pieces were a little dry so I prolly wouldn't order the Molcajete again but would like to go back and try the other dishes. I didn't order drinks but they sure looked delicious and got that cool clubby dark lighting vibe. The staff will do the birthday sing. read more

Five stars all around. We had 5 girls in our party. The waiter was very attentive and he was friendly. We all had a great time. The food was pretty delicious. We arrived around 12:30 , there was a few tables but we didn't leave till 3 something. Everyone was having a great time. We had Mexican candy shots , margaritas, and Micheladas. We did use the valet but there is free parking on the lot next to them. The vibe was very fun and they played the music we requested. It was a club vibe minus the being able to dance. We will definitely be back here for our next brunch! read more

Hi Lp V.,…
Stopped by here with my uncle and cousin twice and I can say it did not disappoint. The food is delicious and delivered quickly, the service is also on point. We had the margarita flight, but instead of tequila added we did mezcal instead. It was an added charge but delicious and worth it. The happy hour tacos are delicious but I will say the melted cheese Birria tacos are my favorite. We will be coming back to this place. We definitely enjoy the ambience of location. If you're in the area I would definitely give this place a try out. read more

Victoria killed it yesterday during the insanely busy Cinco de Mayo shift. She was making her rounds with all her tables and never neglecting anyone. Also never had to ask for water refills because she took care of that too! The drinks were good, the food was bomb, and everything came out in a super timely manner. Thank you ! read more

Hi Natalia,…
I came to this location for the first time to grab lunch and drinks with some friends. I ordered the combination plate and just went with the potato taquitos and rice. The vibe was chill for it being midday and a Wednesday. My friends got margaritas, which they enjoyed and the horchata I got was not bad at all, i definitely had lower expectations for it. Our waitress was very friendly and apologized for when she did get busy, which was nice of her! I definitely want to come back when I am able to drink again lol. read more

I didn't want to write this bad review because, I had such a great experience here the last time I came however, I recently went this Sunday and my whole experience was total chaos. Keep in mind it was not busy our waiter I believe was Jessie? Wasn't very attentive he didn't check on us I understand he must of been overwhelmed. I did reservations for my friends birthday dinner and it was their first time here I wanted them have the great experience I had when I came on Valentine's Day. But that wasn't the case. My friend asked for the agua chiles and he just brings the plate he didn't ask would you like tostadas or salt or hot sauce? he simply was like whatever's about it. I had to ask him if he could please bring some tostadas & lemons to pair it with the food. I seriously had to flag him down so many times that I lost count! I think he needs more training we almost left just because the service was so bad! I wanted to surprise my friend with the Vela drink and have her experience the cool sage smoke that comes out from the coffin and guess what! He didn't put sage or enough sage so no smoke came out! I was like total fail! The drink is pricey so I expect the whole shaaa Bam!! But noooo!!! And to top it off I asked if they could come sing happy birthday to my friend he mentioned it would be $12 for them to bring the candles and to sing and the shot is free. I said ok that's fine. Once we got our bill we realized he had charged me $14 for the shot! I was baffled! I told him you said it was just going to be 12$ for the whole candles and singing ect.. but you mentioned that the shot was free because it's the birthday shot! He said oh you must of heard wrong you pay for the shot! Excuse me first of all that is so offensive to make a customer feel dumb!! I told him next time make sure you communicate better! He did tell me at the end the shot was on the house but his comment rattled me the deed was already done! Ultimately, I will never go back! I don't mind paying for a good time & experience but I honestly didn't even want to leave him a tip! People keep in mind they add 18% gratuity on the bill! It's on the bottom line of the check! So even thought the service was horrible they still collect their money at the end! So watch out so you don't double tip!! They won't tell you this! read more

Came by on a Sunday few weeks ago, maybe around 8:30pm, they close at 10pm. We were a little worried we would either be turned away, or the kitchen was closed for the night. Luckily for us, it wasn't to packed this evening, we noticed 1 big party celebrating a birthday and another big group enter maybe 10 mins after we sat down. Host greeted us, and sat us down very quickly. Our server also came by pretty quickly, we were not ready at all. Would hav liked if they offered water, but no biggie. The next time he came around we were set. Order 1: Burrito, & horrchata - burrito was a good size, she took half of it home Order 2: Originally wanted carnitas, they were out. Settled for Carne asada fajitas. Says were okay, but they were craving the carnitas lol ordered 2 Pepino w Chile cocktails the Pepino was diced very small in the cocktail Order 3: Chicken Enchiladas, those were savory! 2 hand rolled tortillas stuffed with jack oaxaca cheese and grilled chicken. Smothered with green sauce. Topped with sour cream, guacamolito sauce, cotija cheese, and jalapeno cabbage mix. I ate all of it lol Ordered 2 drinks as well: Guyabera, definitely on the fruity side for my palate but so refreshing! I also got the Fuego del Dragon, this had a wonderful smokey taste and the presentation was A+ Definitely visiting again read more

Hi Marilynn,…
Went there for happy hour. Margaritas are on special as are 4 appetizers: empanadas, taquitos, queso fundido and I think nachos. We ordered empanadas, queso without the chorizo, potato taquitos, shrimp fajitas and steak tacos. Overall everyone liked the food. The fajitas were tasty but very oily. The potato taquitos were drizzled with a type of sweet chipotle sauce that I didn't care for and they weren't crunchy perhaps cuz of that sauce. The queso was delicious and very gooey and the tortillas were good with it. Empanadas were crispy and flaky. This place is spacious and very lively but the type that's not great for big conversations because of the loud music. I would go back to try other things. The service was great, the hostess, servers and busboys were all very attentive. read more

This restaurant was recommended by my sister's friend and it didn't disappoint. The wait time was a bit long for a table but my sister and I sat at the bar with no wait time. Do taco Tuesday specials apply all day or 3-7pm M-F only (same as HH)?
Taco Tuesday special is all day!
Is the kitchen open all night?
As far as I know yes being going there for months now. Highly recommended
Do they have a Brunch Buffet and if they do how much is it?
Yes, it is $40 for adults and $19.99 for kids.
Kid friendly for dinner?
I think lunch would be a more comfortable time. Dinner time seems to be louder, dark and lots of people celebrating birthdays with shots.
Do you have any taco tuesday specials?
Yes they do. $3.50 each taco (only certain tacos not all)
I can't find a menu linked to Yelp. do you offer vegan options?
Do you guys offer brunch? If so are there any specials on drinks?
Yes they do but it's sort of a different type of brunch you may not be use to. I would recommend anyone is interested to go and check this place out before you take a large party. It's a different type of place. It's good but different. As in…
Hi, do you accept reservations?
Can you make reservations in advance at this location?
Yes! No reservations on Friday or Saturday night after 4pm though. Only Walk ins. If you call ahead, they'll try their best to accommodate but they won't make a reservation.
Is this family friendly?
If you go during the day .. yes nights are a little crazy and loud would not recommend.
How many ways do they let you split a check for large parties?
As many ways as you like
