We were there on Sunday, October 3rd around 3pm. We asked who the owners were because we were really impressed with the place and thought they might be the same owners as another location we had visited. There was absolutely no bad intention behind the question. The male bartender told us that no one name drops anymore. I understood what he was saying and was more than willing to move on. But then I asked him if the bar offered whiskey sours and he responded, "You really don't know what you're doing here and what you want." I was honestly so taken back by that comment. I don't normally stay quiet when someone speaks to me disrespectfully, but I was so caught off guard that I didn't even know what to say. Before that, he had also yelled out to the host that she didn't need to worry because we didn't know the owners and that she could relax. The whole interaction was completely unnecessary and made us feel very uncomfortable. We came in wanting to enjoy the atmosphere and have a good time. Instead, we left feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. There is a way to speak to customers, even if you feel they are asking questions you don't like. We did nothing to deserve that kind of attitude. The Blind Rabbit may be a great place, but unfortunately, the way we were treated by this bartender completely ruined the experience for us. Customer service matters, and unfortunately, ours was extremely disappointing.

Do not sleep on the Tuesday Carnitas & Margaritas…read more If you're looking for a relaxed spot with great ambiance to catch up with a friend, this hidden gem is it. I visited around 4 PM on a Tuesday, sat right at the bar, and enjoyed the peaceful, welcoming vibe. My server Axle, was fantastic! He guided me through the menu and pointed me straight toward the carnitas tacos and I'm so glad he did. The Carnitas Tacos: I'm always cautious ordering carnitas because they can easily end up greasy, but these were perfection. Crispy, flavorful, and incredibly well-executed. They don't serve them with a lime wedge, but honestly, it isn't necessary at all because the tang from the pickled onions provides all the zesty brightness the dish needs. The Margarita: Beautiful presentation and expertly balanced. You get a nice taste of tequila without it tasting overly harsh or alcoholic. Very smooth and deceptively easy to drink! We walked in around 3-4pm on a Tuesday- place was empty... There wasn't a soul inside. There was a bar tender cleaning glasses and he looks up and says "you guys looking for a place to sit?" I instantly responded "No, we're looking for lunch is this place open?" He seemed so bothered by us which was the second red flag after his lil "looking to sit down" comment. He proceeded to sit us down at the farthest corner from the door. We ordered our drinks. And when the waiter brought my friends coke, it looked so flat it almost looked like ice tea from 10 feet away. It was so obvious that it had no carbonation. I made a joke about it and we laughed. There wasn't a single bubble of carbonation in the entire glass, it was so bad. We joked and laughed about it when the waiter came back my friend said to him " I think this is the flattest coke I've ever been served" in a joking manner (it literally looked like ice tea) the waiters reaction was sooooo rude, he rolled his eyes, said something to my friend in a snarky tone which I didn't really hear but the way he grabbed the drink and walked away was really unnecessary and overly aggressive He was so bothered by him serving us a flat Coke? I didnt understand why he took that snarky attitude but my friend works as a waiter so his solution was to throw money at the waiter in hopes that he would stop treating us like we were 2 homeless dudes in a soup kitchen. When he brought the drink (as an olive brand and so he wouldn't spit in our food )my friend handed him a 20$... every time he came to our table my friend would hand him 20$ in cash and apologize. He came at least 3-4 times to check on us but I was already no feeling his vibe. My friend tipped him significantly more than what our bill even was. I was upset by that but my friend said it's a server/waiter thing. So if someone treats you poorly you throw money at them? I don't get the logic But regardless... There's a reason why nobody was here at this business during lunch. Food was mid. Nothing special. Service was bad, confrontational and just over the top sassy for no reason. I don't recommend I wouldn't come here even if it was free!

Visited Kalaveras to check out their happy hour, and the experience started off on a high note. The ambiance was inviting, and I was excited to enjoy some fun bites and drinks. However, things took a turn when they dimmed the lights and cranked up the music. What was once a cozy dining atmosphere transformed into an awkward daytime restaurant turned nightclub. It became difficult to have a conversation with the person next to me, which was disappointing. On a positive note, I appreciated the convenient parking located at the back of the building, with plenty of spots available. For our meal, we kicked things off with the cheese nachos and Taquitos Dorados (potato), and we wrapped it up with some buffalo wings. The food was, unfortunately, just average overall. The nacho chips appeared to be freshly made, which was a nice touch, and the Taquitos Dorados were decent as well. However, none of the dishes really stood out to me. Overall, Kalaveras has potential, but the vibe shift from relaxed dining to a loud club made it less enjoyable. If you're looking for a chill happy hour, you might want to keep this in mind! read more

Had a great time at Kalavera Bar & Lounge for Happy Hour and Taco Tuesday! They offer $1.49 tacos with a variety of meats, including al pastor, asada, and more. One of the highlights was their self-serve salsa and condiment bar, where you can load up your tacos with onions, cilantro, and different salsas. Mine ended up extra loaded, which was a big plus. They also have $5 draft beers during Happy Hour and other great drink specials. The staff was awesome. Ricardo was super friendly, and Fernanda, our bartender, was very nice and attentive. The only thing I was not a huge fan of was the strobing lights from the calaveras by the bar. They flash in sync with the music, and for me, it was a bit overstimulating. Also, it would be helpful if they labeled the salsas at the bar. When the lights are low, it is hard to tell what is what. I accidentally grabbed a spicy salsa thinking it was beans. Luckily, I love spice, but that could be a surprise for someone who does not. Overall, great spot, great tacos, and great vibes. I will definitely be back! Ps: they have their own private parking which is a big plus read more

Atmosphere/Ambiance/Service: 5/5 The service was top-notch, even though the restaurant was bustling our servers checked in often. Looking at other reviews, this seems pretty consistent. The atmosphere is definitely lively, bordering on club-like. Don't come looking for a quiet, intimate dinner. Food: 5/5 I have to say, the Mokajefe is a serious meal. Don't be fooled - it's definitely meant for sharing. The portion size is huge, so if you're ordering for yourself or for a couple, keep in mind that it's more like a dish for 3-4 people. That being said, every part of this pu pu platter hit hard. How are the drinks? The answer is yes. Other: 3.5/5 One thing to keep in mind is that despite a sizable parking lot in the back, the popularity of Kalaveras means that it can take a while to find a spot. Unfortunately, this visit was a big disappointment. I've been to this location before and have always had a good experience, so I was surprised by how poor the service was this time. We stopped by Sunday around 2 p.m. Our server was not attentive and repeatedly asked if we were ready to pay, coming to our table at least three times. She brought the check without asking if we wanted another round of drinks or dessert, even though we were planning to order more. We ended up feeling rushed and unwelcome. Before leaving, a manager asked how everything was. We explained what happened, but his response felt very vague and dismissive, and there was no real effort to address our concerns. It's unfortunate because we were planning to stay longer and order more, but the service completely changed our experience. I left very disappointed and don't plan on returning anytime soon. read more

Food- decent the happy hour is great and specials Ambiance- very inviting flavorful and bright love it Service- Now this is where it goes bad- it's very slow- and when i say slow like tortoise race slow. Kalaveras is a vibe. Food is decent . Taco Tuesday is a must. You tell the server how many tacos you want. They give you a receipt and you go to the back and someone heats up your tortillas. Then you tell them what types of tacos you want and then they place the meat on your tortilla. Then you go to the salsa bar and dress up your tacos. Tacos were decent. My least favorite is pastor bc they cube the meat and that made it chewy. Asada was decent but I wished it had a crispy char on the outside. I loved the barbacoa . Skip the chicarron . Margarita was strong. I was pleased by the chips and salsa. Place was decorated nicely. They had a nice spacious parking lot. Outside of the building had awesome graffiti art. read more

I recently dined at Kalaveras and was immediately struck by the bold artwork both outside and inside the restaurant, providing plenty of Insta-worthy backdrops. The prices are fair and the food, while decent, lacks any SPICY salsas - a notable downside for spice enthusiasts. This establishment leans towards Americanized Mexican cuisine, offering a mix of classic dishes and creative twists on others. My standout dish was the aguachiles (I would've loved to have that salsa for my other dishes), which was truly exceptional. While some other dishes didn't quite hit the mark, they were still enjoyable. The service was prompt and efficient, leaving me eager to return and explore more of their menu offerings. read more

As I eagerly awaited my delicious meal at the restaurant, I couldn't help but notice the tantalizing sight of everyone around me indulging in crispy chips and zesty salsa. We ordered fish tacos and four cocktails. Fish tacos were delicious!!! Salsa matcha! Fish wasn't all batter. Generous amount of shredded cabbage. Hot and fresh! Loved it! Drinks were great. We asked for less sweet and he seemed to honor that as they were close to how we like it (on the tart side). They have a good happy hour and lots of food to choose from outside of that. Ambiance was quiet at this time but I'm sure weekends get packed. Lots of tvs and the music was good, nice jams and not too loud (I'm old lol). We'd definitely drop in again to day drink and try more food.

When I asked to change a drink, they said they still had to charge me even though I only had a sip. Then, I ordered the Margarita De Amor hoping it would be better, but it tasted like sink water. Worst margarita I've ever had. I also had to ask for the complimentary chips and salsa, but it was also disappointing. The chips were too salty and tasted terrible. There was also no AC on a hot day. I wouldn't return or recommend this place.

A Wonderful Hidden Gem in Santa Ana! Excellent Service and Amazing Atmosphere!…read more I happened to discover Casa Ramos in Santa Ana while visiting the mall and leaving Macy's. I noticed the restaurant and decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad I did! Sometimes the best experiences happen when you least expect them. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by how beautiful, welcoming, and inviting the place was. It has a wonderful atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable and happy to be there. What made my visit even more special was the outstanding service I received from my waitress, Fany. She was absolutely wonderful, very pleasant, attentive, and welcoming. Her kindness and professionalism made the experience even more enjoyable. A great restaurant is not just about the food or the atmosphere; it's also about the people who make you feel appreciated as a customer, and Fany certainly did that. I'm very happy I decided to stop by Casa Ramos, and I would gladly recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely place to enjoy a meal and receive excellent hospitality. A special thank-you to Fany for making my visit so memorable! Employees like her are a true asset to any restaurant. I will definitely be happy to return and visit again. Keep up the great work, Casa Ramos! You have a beautiful establishment, and with wonderful people like Fany on your team, you give customers a reason to come back. Highly recommended!

She was also great about making sure our meal came out in a timely manner and tasted great. Unlike the first visit, I sampled several drinks off their non alcoholic mocktail options. My favorite was the blood orange mojito, which perfectly combined a sweet but tart flavor. Also, a must try is their smoke and honey mocktail which mirrored the real deal, an alcoholic refresher! Much like my first visit, I ordered hot wings, and a Bavarian pretzel. This time, however, I also tried their poke nachos. I was told the salmon bowl left a memorable impression as well. This place is a must try if you're looking for a semi casual Crafthouse that has just the right flair of amazing dishes, drinks, and laid back atmosphere.

Wow what a disappointment. Been coming since it opened and it has changed. The last time we visited…read moreit wasn't as good and last night was worse. We ordered our food and watched it sit under heat lamps for a while. The restaurant wasn't busy at all. The server was chatting with other employees while we waited for the food. The fries weren't ready the same time as the burgers. We ordered 2 burgers (one med rare and one medium) and a steak frites. The food arrived and the burgers were over cooked - beyond well done. Just grey meat. Both cooked the same temperature. The $35 steak was also half over cooked and half rare. You could see there wasn't a chef cooking Ike they used to have. It was two guys who the server had to speak Spanish to place the order. They didn't seem to understand when she went back to tell them the food wasn't cooked properly. This place charges over $20 a burger. It isn't a diner. So why cut back on the most important part- the chef. When we used to visit he would come out and say hello and make sure food was good. This time there wasn't even a manager there to speak to us about the issues. The server tried to apologize and said it was out of her control. It's crazy how the prices remain high but service and food are worse. We used to really like this place. Hopefully someone does something. Most people coming in just went to the bar. It's really too bad. We really liked coming here.

URBANA Mexican Gastronomy

It wasn't that the tacos were "bad" it's just they were so lacking in flavor as to be non-existent. Like, if I already had some flavor in my mouth the taco would have sucked that out as well just to ensure that everything was completely devoid of flavor. Even the chips weren't salted. Are you mad at me? Service is really good and drinks are solid and the space is cute. Why 5 stars? Because the rating system is stupid but this place needs to get someone in the kitchen that is going to actually taste the food they're sending out.

Cool spot with some great margaritas and cocktails!…read more Love this little Mexican restaurant located on the bottom floor of the Packing House. Came in for a little date night on a Saturday evening. The whole staff was friendly and accommodating, always quick to refill drinks or clear empty plates. We started off with some delicious and spicy oysters which were topped with a shrimp! We also had to try the Chori-brussels which are flash fried Brussels sprouts with chorizo, balsamic reduction, and Oaxacan cheese. For drinks we got a Santo Dia, a whiskey based cocktail with watermelon, lime, and fizz served over ice. We also ordered the Spicy margarita which had watermelon habanero, lime, and hibiscus flavors. They were both delicious and refreshing, the spicy marg had a good kick to it. For dinner we got a caesar salad, the ribeye plate, and the Urbana burger. We both loved the dressing on the caesar, it's made in house and it shows. The ribeye was cooked perfectly with a delicious herb butter on top, a really good steak sauce on the side, and thick cut fries. The ribeye wasn't the highest quality but it tasted good, the fries were perfect. My fiancé got the burger which had chorizo, melted queso Oaxaca, and an egg on top. Not gonna lie it was absolutely delish! I want to come back just for the burger. All in all we had a great time and I would definitely come back for some other menu items, especially to try more of their margs and specialty cocktails. Thanks Urbana!

First off, parking is tight and limited, with overflow spilling onto street parking. Once you get past the parking situation, though, the service is wonderful. Our water glasses were always full, and they kept the table clean as soon as we finished a plate. The food was good, but not the best I've tried. I had the Grande Taco Salad, and I really enjoyed it. We also ordered the seafood tacos, but unfortunately, the shrimp had a little bit of a soapy taste. We let our server know, and they were very nice about it and offered to get her something else. A note for anyone who doesn't eat pork: ask for the beans prepared "a la olla" instead of the refried beans. I asked our server if the refried beans were made with manteca (pork lard), and he confirmed that they were, so just something to be aware of when ordering. The restaurant itself has a lot of character. It used to be a church, so it has beautiful colorful windows with designs, lots of wood inside, and some huge, beautiful lamps in the middle. They also have outdoor seating, but it was way too hot to sit outside when we went. Overall, it was a nice first visit, especially because of the friendly service and atmosphere. I'm giving it 4 stars because of the soapy taste in the shrimp and because, while the food was good, I've had better Mexican food at other places.
