This was the first time at this location and it was AMAZING!! Our server Nikki was quick to ask for our order and kept on making sure we were doing good throughout the night. I decided to get the chicken taquitos and it was a 10/10 appetizer! Would 100% comeback and recommend this location. Experienced banda night on a Friday which was a plus. THANK YOU TO OUR SERVER NIKKI AGAIN!! Excellent service and very welcoming :) read more

Been wanting to go here for a while, so when I found out there was one in Northridge I was pretty excited. I expected a lot and all expectations were met!! I called ahead of time asking about the bar area vs the main area for seating. I spoke with a friendly, kind person named Elizabeth who reminded me the Dodger game was on, let me know about Monday Margaritas special and would seat us when we arrived. Elizabeth sat us at a large table where some of our guests could see the TV screens. Elizabeth was very welcoming and as kind in person as on the phone. Our server Nicky was super friendly & very patient since it was the 1st time for all 8 guests. Only happy hour drinks and food was ordered. The slushy margaritas were fabulous. The Guava flavor was the star of the table. We ordered at least one of each appetizer, all were good. The chicken wings were the best with the cheese nachos coming in last. No one really cared for them and were left uneaten. We all decided we will definitely be returning!! read more

Too my wife to Kalaveras for an early dinner, the location was lively, colorful and beautifully decorated, service was quick and friendly, our server was friendly and knowledgeable, we really enjoyed our meals, I ordered a dragon roll which was amazing and shrimp Enchilada plate, my wife ordered the Lomo Saltado which wasn't her favorite but it was ok, overall a solid meal, drinks were on point, definitely worth a try. read more

Second time giving this place a try and they're two for two. We started with the Dragon Roll, which basically slapped my taste buds in the best way. Then we had the Carne Asada Plate and Lomo Saltado -- both so good. Service was great! The bartender made our drinks perfectly read more

Tried it for first time . My wife n I had the chicken asada fajitas . Good size portion cooked well enough for my wife's liking . Came with beans n rice both good . I also tried their ceviche which is hard for me to find a place out here in the valley that has a decent seafood menu . The ceviche was good enough for me to eat it all n I would not mind to return for it . Tagged along with a michelada good combo . For desert we sure enjoyed the churro sandwich could've had more cinnamon for my liking but wife was satisfied. Look forward to trying the tacos next time which looked good when the servers were bringing them out to the tables next to us . The only reason didnt give it 5 stars was because I wasn't to happy with their lighting to the place . Lights are dim low which I understand due to making it a trendy spot but I would like to see what I'm eating . lol . See u next time read more

Love this new spot. My co-workers and I go to this place frequently. Amazing food and good service.

This is the spot for anything -- whether it's just drinks, a casual brunch, or something special. The food here was absolutely delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. The staff was so kind and made sure we had everything we needed without hovering. You can tell they really care about their customers. The ambiance was fun and inviting! read more

Kalaveras - Margaritas and barbacoa - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Northridge, California

We went for happy hour. At 5 it was lovely, by 5:30 we could barely hear ourselves talk. And only beer and margaritas were on the happy hour menu, so a glass of chardonnay was $12. I don't know that that is sustainable in the long term as we are a small group looking for a new monthly hangout. I had an asada taco, which was delicious. The chips are great, but the salsas are too spicy for my gringo tastebuds, and there wasn't a milder option. read more

We love the Burbank location and we're so excited to check out this location since it's a little closer to home- I will say that it was rough and we got the wrong drinks multiple times BUT it was opening week and the staff was working soo sooo sooo hard trying to attend to everyone especially with how busy they were. They were super sweet, friendly, and accommodating with everything. I know this place will succeed just like the rest of the locations so be easy and understanding with them. Food is always a hit! Doesn't matter what you get, you can't go wrong. Drinks are always strong, sometimes they may not taste like it but just give it 20 minutes and you'll feel it lol Best of luck to the whole team! * Management, take it easy on them, they're hustling and working hard and that's all you can really ask for in a staff. read more

Long waiting time (even with reservation made prior). Walked up to the bar & was unable to order drinks while we waited. We were told we couldn't order drinks unless we were seated. Service was slow but understandable since they recently opened this location. Food was decent. Plus side, it's loud enough to bring little ones and they'd blend right on in. read more

First time at the northridge location foods great timing was quick service was excellent by Karen Ramos she wasn't only friendly and professional to our table I watched her doing the same to her entire section very charming person . The ambience was bit on the loud side to me was hard to communicate with your waiter or waitress and your friend on the table it's fun during a birthday celebration shout but on regular basis I believe the sound system is has distortion Overall it's a great place hope they get more synchronized and organized and keep the place clean and good food quality read more

Experience was great! Food and drinks were amazing! Had the quesobirria and it was so delicious. The one thing that was really unpleasant was the tortilla chips, and churros. Both had a heavy aftertaste of bad oil- that bitter aftertaste of oil that's been overused was very prominent in both the chips and churro. Pass on both of those. read more

We come for the margaritas because they are so good ! Service is always okay when we go but this recent visit was ridiculous. Asked for a table of 4 and host said she'll do a look around and let us know . Did not come back to us . Came back to her other friend at the front and just started talking . We waited 10 minutes again and asked if she was able to let us know because she didn't tell us anything last time . Said she'll "look" turned around and did a scan of the room and turned around and started talking to her friend , next thing you know they started doing their makeup AT THE FRONT! Instead of letting us know at least a time they decided doing each others makeup was more important at least go to the restroom for that , absolutely ridiculous and rude we just left instead and enjoyed somewhere else read more

Review for Kalaveras Northridge Kalaveras in Northridge is rotten to the core. First off, don't ever bring half the food to a table -- that's basic service 101. And when a customer raises a concern, responding with "I know, I know" is not only dismissive, it shows you don't actually know how to run a restaurant. Whether this is your first restaurant or you've been in the industry for 20 years (as you claim), standards are standards. Excuses don't cut it. Our server was amazing -- she's the only reason this review isn't one star. But the so-called owner/manager "Angel" completely ruined the experience. At the end of the meal, the check was $75. I paid with a $100 bill, and he returned a $20 bill and a $5 bill as change. Common sense says you break the $20 so the customer has room to tip properly. His excuse? "We don't think about things like that." That either undercuts your staff's ability to make money, or suggests you expect me to leave a flat $20 tip for mediocre service and fair, institutional-quality food. To make matters worse, Angel thought it was okay to grab me by the shoulder -- completely inappropriate and unprofessional. Bottom line: two stars, and that's generous -- one of them goes solely to our server. The rest was lost because of a manager/owner who clearly has no respect for customers, staff, or the standards of hospitality. Highly concerned that this manager is going to retaliate after this review. As he knows he was wrong. I highly suggest that you look at your other reviews and try to listen to what the customers are saying so early in your game. Make an effort to read the reviews to your staff for your pre-shift and adjust the high concern quality of food and labor concerns. Remember, these are real people having real experiences in real time. read more

Celebrating my bestie here at the location, food was good. Drinks were fair nothing special. On a Friday night the ambiance was good not to noisy back ground music was good had me moving while enjoying my dinner. The only complaint I have is the wait time for drinks to arrive, food to ordered & brought to the table. I wish our waiter was more attentive for example to see if we needed refills, water, extra napkins etc etc. I did bring home a burrito for my husband and he did enjoy it. Another thing I was not a fan of is the photographer who came to our table, he was not clear on what the objective of taking our photos and the. Came to sell them. Since we were celebrating I didn't want to make a fuss. read more

for today , I'm very disappointed. I went for taco Tuesday, and I was rejected by hostess stating due to game only reservations accepted. I feel that is bad customer service to turn down a customer! it did not even say on there website that a reservation was required. I even tired to call after n no one answered telephone. I'm very disappointed. I had gone Saturday and was told to come back Tuesday for 1.99 tacos. I was looking forward to it. very very disappointed read more

Update on the review, I checked my credit card statement and realized that they had forged the tip amount on the bill! Even after I had expressed to one of the persons in charge why I was leaving the tip amount that I was leaving. I'm not sure if this waitress girl was upset of the tip amount or thought it might've been funny to forge a higher tip amount than the one I had left. I immediately called and asked for a manager and emailed their corporate admin office! ((ADMIN OFFICE DIDNT EVEN BOTHER TO REPLY)) The manager did mention that that higher tip amount was entered onto their system and that is when I asked to see the receipt that I had signed. It's unbelievable how this restaurant being new to this location can be doing forgery/ crime just because they're unhappy with what their poor service gave them. BE CAREFUL DINING HERE AND CHECK YOUR BANK STATEMENT DAYS AFTER THE TIP HAS BEEN REFLECTED!!!!!! The waitress here was a young girl with black hair for sure in her mid 20s early 30s. Can't believe she would do forgery like that if you don't like your tip amount make sure you treat your customers fairly. You should also be thankful that I even tipped considering that other people would've just left an absolute zero. read more

I can not stress this review enough. The food is decent and not much of a problem, it's the damn service. The servers are so focused on fonding/flirting with men for a tip when they could just be a damn girls girl and receive a tip too. They're choosy and very contradicting. The manager is also an airhead, he said they reserve seat for big games but the people who reserve seats get whatever seats the places chooses for them so why couldn't we get a seat closer to the TVs? I mean you have FIFA and baseball season going on, football and hockey season coming up and guess what after giving this place 3 tries! (All sucked btw) this place will not come to mind. The worst placements for tv (SMALL SCREENS). This place won't last long. I PROMISE YOU ITS NOT WORTH OPENING YOUR WALLET. read more
