I had a lovely Mother's Day brunch with my mom and family at Mimi's this past weekend! We ended up going on Saturday, May 9th to avoid the crowds which was a great decision on our part as it was not too busy, but still decorated nicely and lively with all of the other families there. The service was decent; I would've appreciated a couple more check-ins and refills especially seeing as they were not as packed as usual. Still, the food was delicious and most importantly, my mom enjoyed her meal. My favorites of the day were the Cookie Butter Latte, the Griddlecake Sampler, and the Santa Fe omelette. Everything was very freshly prepared, warm, and flavorful. I was very surprised by how good the muffins are too! I had never tried one from Mimi's before, but as it was included with the omelette, I opted for the blueberry one which was warm, soft, and subtly sweet which I really appreciated. Overall, a great brunch was had and I will definitely be back soon.

Location 4: On the Southwest corner of Corbin Ave and Nordhoff Place in Northridge, California, in a plaza shared with Olive Garden. Plenty of self parking on the lot, and some free street parking as well. Venue 4: Franchised restaurant with cozy old French Country motif. Larger facility with indoor tables and booths and a bar area. No outdoor seating. You can make reservations on their website or directly on Open Table. Service 4: Our server Pedro was friendly, polite, helpful and attentive. Food 4: American comfort food with French Country influences. Extensive menu of breakfast items, pastries, soups, salads, sandwiches, large plates and desserts. Breakfast and Lunch/Dinner menu are served all day. The benedicts are great and worth a try. We have also had the French Pot Roast (their version of Beef Bourguignon) and it is quite good. Drinks 4: Specialty Coffees and soft drinks, Beer and Wine. The Last Word 4: A good choice for some comfort food in an unpretentious and cozy environment with friendly service. Highly recommended!

Lively and friendly atmosphere for Sunday brunch! We were greeted warmly as soon as we walked in and seated right away. No wait at all. The place was busy but not crowded. Our server Liz is super diligent and upbeat. She made our time really enjoyable. Now if you are craving fresh baked muffins, breads, or other goodies, then this is your place. They have a full coffee bar and breakfast all day for those of us that like a lazy Sunday. Great for families or for special brunch with mom. Thank you Liz

The food here is always fantastic! I especially love starting my morning with a cappuccino and their delicious blueberry crumble muffin. Liz, our server, is amazing she's always so warm and friendly :) It's also such a great spot for families they're incredibly accommodating, even when you've got a baby stroller with you. Highly recommend!

Perfect for a casual Sunday breakfast with the fam! Not too crowded, not too loud, plenty of free parking in the lot, and the high chair actually pushes under the table so kiddo can eat AT the table instead of a foot away from it! Amazing! Liz is the BEST server we have had in a long time. So attentive, informative, and friendly. Felt like we were regulars right away. We got the Salmon Benedict w/ avocado and Mimi's Brunch trio (which is not the picture on the menu, in case you were also confused, LOL! Food was delicious - great diner vibe with some fall flair on the seasonal items featured in the brunch trio. Portions were generous! Coffee refills were plenty! I am jittery and delighted. Kid kept repeating "eggy, eggy!" Very nice breakfast. Would definitely come back - and fingers crossed we get Liz again!

I enjoyed this restaurant I went early morning for breakfast. It was not crowded they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The decor was nice and it was dimly lit ample seating. Chairs and fixtures were outdated and needed some cleaning! The staff were friendly and the food was affordable with a large variety of options. The omelette I had was fresh but lacked flavor and seasoning! The blueberry is what have me keep coming back the best warm Blueberry muffin I have ever had! Definitely worth a visit if you're on a budget and in the area!

The onion soup was definitely the highlight -- rich, comforting, and one of those warm, satisfying dishes you don't come across that often. The beef tartare was decent, but nothing particularly memorable. The omelette was a bit too cheesy for my taste, though that might just come down to personal preference. Banana tart is so good. Try this. The outdoor seating had a great brunch vibe and was really enjoyable, while the indoor space felt a bit small and tight. Service was also very good -- attentive and friendly throughout. Overall, a solid spot with a great atmosphere and some standout dishes.

The front room is counter seating only and it's very cramped and a bit claustrophobic. Thankfully we got a seat at the bar in the back room which was much more spacious and relaxing. One thing to mention, I loved the bar chairs. Most bar chairs are not that comfortable but these were surprisingly comfortable. Our hostess was super friendly but our main server was a bit curt which put a damper on our experience. We got the feeling that we were annoying him which made our meal a bit awkward. We started with the baguettes and French onion soup. The bread was good and soup was one of the better ones I've had. Perfectly balanced but extremely overpriced at $25. For our entrees we got the burger and steak frites. The burger was juicy and delicious but they could tone it down a touch with the bordelaise sauce as it's a bit overwhelming and messy. The streak frites were perfectly cooked at medium rare but the peppercorn was a bit much and it was very salty. The true flavors of steak would have shined more with a lighter spices. We got the soufflé for dessert and was it was excellent. Overall our meal was good but I've definitely had better and lower prices so I don't see myself running back anytime soon. I will say that the valley location is much more of a vibe with a better lively atmosphere but the Hollywood location has better food.

For appetizers, we ordered the octopus and escargot. The octopus was easily the highlight of the night. The flavor, sauce, and texture were all amazing, and the roasted herb potatoes paired perfectly with the salsa verde and chimichurri. I would highly recommend this dish. The escargot was also very flavorful, especially if you enjoy garlic. The bread it comes with is a great touch since you can dip it into the sauce or pour the garlic butter over it. For entrées, we ordered the Atlantic salmon and the rack of lamb. The salmon tasted very fresh, but unfortunately lacked flavor. The rack of lamb -- which is considered their signature dish -- was tender, juicy, and worth trying at least once, but honestly the appetizers stood out more than the entrées for me. We also got two cocktails: the Pomegranate Margarita and the Casanova. Both were good and definitely on the sweeter side, so I'd recommend them if you enjoy sweeter drinks. Overall, I would come back mainly for the appetizers and cocktails.

We were immediately greeted with warm bread and sparkling water by a hostess who spoke fluent French. This was such a treat for Bart, who is from Belgium; they were able to converse in French, which he loved~ For dinner, he had the steamed mussels with frites. The broth ,white wine, celery, and onions, had a unique, delicious flavor, and the fries were perfect for dipping in mayo and ketchup. I ordered the duck prosciutto and two-cheese plate. The imported French butter was incredibly creamy and decadent. While the cheeses were high-quality and beautifully served with mustard, cornichons, and chutney, I did feel the portion was a bit small for the price. However, the flavors were so rich that I still left feeling full. We did have a small mishap where a waiter accidentally spilled water on Bart as we were leaving. They were incredibly apologetic and even sent out a complimentary macaron, which was a sweet gesture. Don't miss the French market next door--it's packed with imported cheeses, olives, and pastries.
