    French onion soup
    Shanelle S.

Solid French spot in DTLA. Came here with a couple of friends having made a reservation beforehand, and we enjoyed a pre-fixe menu of 3 courses each (which was a good deal because we were able to try different things). Of the salad, escargot, and French onion soup, I liked the soup the best. The baguette that came with the escargot was delicious too! Of the beef bourguinon, mussels, and duck, I liked the duck the best for the crisp skin and juicy meat, though the beef was a close second thanks to its tenderness. I had the creme brulee for my dessert but I liked the profiterole better thanks to the generous amount of chocolate and ice cream. Note that the restroom is outside of the restaurant and has a security guard. Limited street parking or you can use a paid garage. There's a bar connected to it for just drinks that looked cozy. Overall, a cute spot to go on a date or girls night out!

Solid Dine LA Menu. Probably the best meal for the price we had all day. Got the escargot, salad, beef, duck, and creme brulee, and everything was great. Favorite had to be the duck, because of the crunchy skin but perfectly cooked center. Creme brulee was great too. Also our waitress was amazing! Recommend for a date night, and would come back.

This place is nice and cozy even though it's located in a bright hallway. I decided to try their DineLa dinner menu: $45 pp. Started off with their 1/2 dozen Burgundy Snails, then Duck Leg Confit (+$3), and finished with a Profiterole. Snails: 10/10, I loved how it's served the traditional way with the snails still in the shell and given the clamper and fork to eat with it. Fresh bread was provided. Duck Leg Confit: 8/10, I enjoyed it but I'm not a big fan of parsnip puree so that's on me. Profiterole: 8/10, only came with one; but despite that it was drowned in hot chocolate sauce which made it perfect! There is no bathroom in the restaurant itself but it's located in the hallway on the right with a security guard standing in front. Parking is tricky because its dtla but there are several garages ranging from $10-15, all around 1-2 blocks away. (They're open at 5pm; even though apple maps says 6pm).

Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Came here with my grandma, mom, and husband because my mom loves French food. Food: fantastic, legitimate French food. We all ordered the pre fixe course and everything felt perfectly seasoned and not cloying at all. Most French food I've had was mostly salty and greasy but this was one of the first I've had that wasn't either of those things. We were all impressed, even my 80-smthg yr old grandma enjoyed it. For the pre-fixe course, we enjoyed the burgundy escargot (3.5/5), french onion & shallots soup (5/5), moules frites (3.5/5), beef bourguignon (4.5/5), duck confit (4.5/5), tarte tartin (5/5), pistachio creme brulee (5/5). Everything was amazing, and desserts were the highlight of the night. It wasn't overly sweet and was just right. I would go back just for the desserts alone, but also to try everything else on their menu. We met with the chef who was very kind. Both the chef and waitress are French. Service was amazing! Ambiance: L'appart is located in DTLA which can get sketchy at night, so we wished there were valet but unfortunately, there were only street parking and parking structures across the street. We paid $15 for parking a little over 2 hours. The restaurant itself however is charming and lovely, and you feel safe once you're in because there is security right in front. We were the only patrons when we had first arrived, and it was very spacious and decorated tastefully both inside and outside. All in all, the food and service were amazing enough to overlook the parking and neighborhood. I'd come back in a heartbeat! (Just maybe not alone ;)

Came here before a show downtown and it was just a very lovely dinner! The food we had was very tasty, the salad was super fresh and the pizza was great, as you can see from the pics they have the large pizza oven right there and it was perfectly made. Lots of space, we came on a weekend and though I believe I made a reservation they seemed to have room for walk ins. Would definitely try again!

So ive been wanting to come here for a while now bc they have escargot on the menu and a cool happy hour on food...lets start w the interior, it was soo cute and tucked away, cute art and details just a but warm inside. Next, the service;it was good, i wouldnt say great. the waiter was very attentive to take our order and bring our food. He was also so nice and really allowed us to enjoy our time without being over attending. The food. Lol. Escargot was a let down, definitely pretty for the picture but not to the taste, same w the garlic bread. Both were under flavor...like they didnt put salt and used unsalted butter to make it. A bit disappointing as snails and garlic bread are some of my fav things to eat! We also got a truffle pizza....honestly very good &only $15 for happy hour!

Valentine's Day, so decided to make it French and try L'appart. Didn't necessarily want the set menu they had, but that was so they were offering after we sat down, so there we were. The bread started if with an amuse bouche. There were two bites, one was a stuffed mushroom, which was a nice and full of flavor. The other, not sure what it was, but also good. Appetizers came next to which we ordered the salmon gravelax. This came with a dill mousse and focaccia. The salmon was actually really good, not necessarily heading that hard salmon flavor you come to expect. The dill mousse probably helped cut that though. There could have been more focaccia for sure. Next were the entrees. The scallops were paired with a ginger beet puree with honey roasted beets. The beats didn't have that overpowering flavor you come to expect from beats and was actually more enjoyable than I thought it would be. The scallops were on the smaller side and I wish they would have had that nice sear on them, but still good. The beef tenderloin came medium rare with a stuffed potato. The meat was delicious, just fell apart in your mouth. As for the desserts, it was a trio of desserts with a chocolate fondant, a raspberry profiteroles and a lemon tart. The lemon tart has the most flavor and was very refreshing, while the raspberry profiterole was something different but good. The fondant was not memorable. Overall, really wish we could have tried some of the items on the regular menu, but the items we did have were cooked well with wonderful presentation. If you're looking for a French restaurant in Los Angeles, you might want to try L'appart to hit that craving

My friend and I dined here last night for DineLA week, and I'm so glad we did!! We both started with the shallot soup. It was out of this world! It had an amazing cheese crust even on the outside of the bowl. It had so much depth and flavor. Oh my goodness! I got the Beef Bourguignon and she ordered the duck confit. She loved her dish. I didn't try it but it looked great! The beef bourguignon was delicious! The meat was insanely tender, you don't even need a knife. It truly was lovely. The red wine and mushroom sauce was delicious. We each ordered one dessert so we tried both the crème brûlée and the profiterole. The profiterole was very good, we both love dark chocolate so it was right up our alley. But oh my goodness was that crème brûlée delectable! It was on another level for desserts. You have to order it. We had great service. They were attentive and were super kind to us all night. I would undoubtedly come back here again. Even if just for a bowl of soup and some crème brûlée! I've actually passed this restaurant multiple times with my work and we always said we should try it. I'm so glad my friend and I stopped in! The restaurant itself is a more intimate setting, not too large. They've done a great job decorating. It's elegant but inviting

I went to L'Appart for the first time for a Friendsmas dinner and we all left happy and full. The food was delicious our favorites were the cauliflower pizza, the octopus and the escargot. We did a dinner of mostly shared apps to taste a little bit of everything. We reordered the escargots because they were that good, unfortunately they ran out of octopus after our first order but c'est la vie. The portions for the appetizers were good but we were surprised at how small the tartare was especially considering it was a main plate. To be fair it does come with fries. The drinks were good and the service was excellent. For dessert we ordered their Nutella pizza and apple tart a la mode both good choices but we enjoyed the Nutella pizza with its toasted almonds the most. The only reason this was not a full 5 stars was the location. Parking is always crazy downtown but due to it being in the middle of two one-way streets, it was a bit hectic. It's easiest to just park at the lot across the way for a flat fee. They don't have bathrooms inside of the restaurant so you have to ask for a bathroom ticket from the restaurant, walk down the hallway and up the stairs to use the shared restroom for all the establishments in the shopping center. The bathrooms have a security guard at the front who will allow you in with the ticket so the restrooms are clean. Aside from this, the restaurant itself, the food and service are excellent. I would come back again and try more tasty French cuisine!

If you love french food and culture you need to come here. Honestly I just came on a lunch date, but my gosh it was like I was back in france and the kitchen knows what they are doing. (Haha I was in a rush and they were very french like in that fashion unfortunately as well, but I loved it) I will definitely be back and I think you need to come and eat this delicious food. Such a cute place. Err the pizza was pretty bad but the duck was beyond amazing

Air Food L'appart has a unique name and also a unique style of food. This place is located in the Los Angeles area on Broadway and 6th Street. It was my first time here and I came with three other people for a nice early dinner. The inside felt nice and had homely vibes. Our server was taking our order and I would say I liked our food. The pizza was amazingly delicious. The crust and the bread were so tasty that we decided to order a dessert pizza at the end of our meal. Overall the escargots which are snails were hot and tasty. I liked dipping our side of bread into the hot oil. You must order the duck it was delicious and also don't forget to get some dessert.

And I will say the lady who was at the cashier that day and took our order was friendly and sweet. I think she tried to warn us on what was actually good to order, clearly I did not heed.

This is a great place to invite any motorcycle friends who are visiting from out of town. First, there is parking for cars on the street, and inside there is an area strictly for motorcycles. The restaurant has an open patio and is very dog friendly- they even have a dog menu! The service is good, but pretty busy- they need to hire a few more waiters. When my friend and I were there (Sunday afternoon) it was pretty crowded. The food was excellent- and the desert was good too! It's in a sketchy part of town, so visit during the day. I'm not sure what night traffic is like. But overall, I would suggest coming here!

It's almost a one-stop shop for everything! We ordered the pancakes, French toast, steak & eggs, Loco Moco, a matcha latte, and a cold brew. All the food was pretty good, the service was fantastic, and the pricing was very reasonable. Plus, parking was surprisingly easy! Definitely recommend stopping by. I'll definitely be back on another day to try more from their menu!

Hubby was casually perusing Instagram when he came across a reel on Sampa. We were drooling so much…read morethat we placed a reservation for later on the same day. And we are so glad we did. This is more upscale, almost fine dining Filipino food. Something I have never experienced before. We were very intrigued and were excited to try the food. If you're looking for a carinderia or turo-turo taste, this ain't it so don't come expecting that. Menu is not extensive, which is what we like. I have a hard time at Cheesecake Factory and that just stresses me out. I feel like their food menu is compact, thoughtfully created, and appealing. We had a very difficult time not ordering the entire menu. So we ended up eating almost half of it. Drinks menu was also very innovative and the drinks were STRONG. I also appreciate that they have non-alcoholic versions of some of their drinks. I wasn't indulging that day so Hubby and I were able to sample one of each type. Calamansi Mojito ($20) for him and Ube Horchata ($14) for me. As for what we ate: Manila Mais ($18) - 2.5/5 stars - It was, okay. Filipino-ized version of Mexican elote, corn-ribs style. Though it had Filipino elements like the bagoong butter, it didn't really taste like anything different. And to be honest, the bagoong butter didn't bring anything to the table the way it was presented to the side of the corn. It was too hard and just sat on the elote as you ate it. Kare Kare Tamales ($26) - 5/5 stars - UH-AMAZING!!! I could have eaten two, regular-sized tamales versions of this as an entree instead of two smaller appetizer size. The braised oxtail inside the tamales was soft and tender but the peanut butter veloute was *chef's kiss*. You definitely tasted kare kare but in an innovative way. I just wish they had some steamed rice or bread so I could soak up the sauce. I almost cried when they took the plate away because I didn't want to waste the sauce! Bicol Express Mezzelune ($38) - 4/5 stars - I was eyeing this originally but opted not to until the chef came out and talked us into it. And I'm so glad he did! This was delicious! Ironically enough, I just cooked traditional Bicol Express the week before and this definitely hit those notes without being a carbon copy of it. Again, where was the rice?! Only thing I can dock is that I felt like the pasta was a tad too thick and was chewy to my taste. Otherwise, I would definitely order this again. Was the sleeper hit of the dinner. Crab Fat Fried Rice ($38) - 5/5 stars - Crab? Crab fat? In rice?? Of course, sign me up! So delicious and a very generous portion. I wanted to hoard it to myself but I guess I had to share with Hubby. Would order this again. Ribeye Salpicao ($96) - 3/5 stars - Not my favorite of the bunch and this surprised me because I love rib eye. It came out medium instead of the medium rare we ordered and the taste was just not to my preference. It's possible that it was just overshadowed by the other excellent dishes we had. Likely will not order again though the portion was generous. Two minor things I wish they had but not enough to dock stars: Rice and spoons. Come on, now! This is a Filipino place! These two are musts? How else could I mop up all the delicious sauces they put on the food?! Service was impeccable! From front of the house host, bartender, and the chefs, the experience was very welcoming and polished. We sat at the bar and was able to chat with the chefs when they came to introduce themselves to us and they were the nicest people. You felt like you came to a friend's house and not an impersonal stranger's. Will definitely be back to try the other half of the menu we missed and we'll be bringing friends!

The food was amazing, but the atmosphere was what really made the night special. And Chris, who took care of us, exceeded our expectations with his wonderful service. At first, I was a little worried that the portions might be too small, but we ended up leaving with our bellies full and very happy! We had such a great time and will definitely be coming back. Next time, I'd love to bring my parents and share this experience with them. Highly recommend!

My wife and I stopped here a few weekends back for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised with just how much I enjoyed the food. The ambiance here is pretty generic, white and bright and very copy and paste of a lot of places popping up recently. The staff was super friendly while taking our orders and dropping the food off, which is always appreciated. I ended up ordering the Santo's Turkey Melt which is smoked turkey, grilled onions, Swiss cheese, and chipotle aioli served on sourdough with a side of french fries. The sandwich was really good and the same can be said for the french fries and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of fries given, so thumbs up to that. I forgot what the food costs so I visited the website and for some reason they don't think it's important to put that online, which is pretty darn stupid if you ask me. Overall, I didn't have a bad experience at Sandcouch Cafe and I would visit again in the future thanks to it's convenient location. The food was solid and the staff was friendly, and that's really all I need when ordering a sandwich.

I am obsessed with their happy hour, which offers healthy items at discounted prices with generous portions! I have been here so many times throughout the years but most recently found myself here during a busy World Cup match! Regardless, the service and quality of food was not sacrificed! I was greeted as soon as I got there and the bartenders were overwhelmed but still friendly and helpful. I was so tempted to get a margarita, since theirs are amazing, but decided to keep it dry and just get their vegan nachos. I was able to score a table outside on their lovely patio, which felt secluded enough from the main street. My food was brought out quicker than I thought and I was delighted, as I was famished! The vegan nachos here are fantastic and the happy price is only $10, which is a steal for what you get! They are costed in the most magical concoction of a bean puree, cashew cheese sauce, and guacamole which all have the most creamy, luscious and savory flavors. It's so hearty and well seasoned and not only filling, but you feel great after. Parking is pretty easy, as there are usually ample meters available nearby. I cannot wait to return again soon the next time I'm in Downtown LA! I am hoping to try more of their vegan options and next time I will for sure get a drink to go along with their delicious food!

To be honest, I was already biased because his Smorgasburg pop-ups were consistently good. But Distrito Catorce is different , it's like art. My favorite dish was the tacos de papa with salsa macha. The crunch of the potato taco riding into the salsa macha and crema felt like home, but with some extra pop. His salsa game is on point. The scallion salsa on the ribeye taco was also gas. Lastly, I really dug the tostadita de atún. It hit perfectly on these hot summer days. Low-key, I still want to try the El Rey de Noche. They have a really good beverage program, and I would like to come back more for drinks and try the Bro over Tomatoes. For food, I got the pop over benedict, honestly, I didn't know what I was expecting because I was assuming a regular benedict, but it was the most beautiful presention and delicious hollandaise sauce i've ever had in my life!
