Love this little wine bar in downtown LA! What's not to love? Charming space with appropriately charming decor? Check! Excellent wine selection? Check! Small but well thought out menu of nibbles? Check! Friendly hosts? Check! If we lived closer downtown, I'd guarantee you, I'd be a regular here!

All of the wines I had were absolutely wonderful and this is the best veggie pizza I've ever had. A small spot with an intimate setting, you forget you're in the middle of DTLA. Plenty of parking garages and cash lots nearby, so parking is relatively easy too.

This is such a great neighborhood place to sit with friends, eat some good food and sip something delicious. I met up with a gf for a catch up and was recommended the yummy cheesy pizza, listen it's not a NYC pie at all so clear your mind and judgement and enjoy it because it is so full of flavor, I felt like I could the whole thing... but I took the rest home instead. Wine selection was great and the ambience is calm, even with the somewhat mad downtown sidewalk scene. This is great place tucked into the arcade, where you can enjoy a little escape and feel trés chic. The service was lovely, looking forward to returning for some escargot Merci beaucoup!

Went to go see my won perform here on Wednesday. The ambiance is very nice. Service could be a little more responsive. But that truffle pizza was magnificent so much flavor. I'm still dreaming about it. If the rest of the food on menu taste like that this is a winner.

Great Happy Hour. Great wine and cheese. Can't ask for more. Intimate. What a gem of a place.

Happy Hour is from 4-6pm. Many appetizers and drinks to select from. The bar and dining area are cozy and great for venue parties or special dinners. People were great with hospitality.

Had Garçons de Cafe bookmarked for months and wish I had visited sooner! This cozy wine bar is tucked away inside a mall-like building (same area as Guisados and Ricebox) in the heart of DTLA. We usually make it in time for happy hour which is 5-7pm daily, even weekends! All the wines we've tried have been great (we love the cab franc) and at the happy hour price, a great value. They also nicely complement the adorable mixed charcuterie board that comes with 3 cheeses, 3 cured meats, and assorted accompaniments. The baguette is also excellent which I've recently learned is from Clark St Bakery. We've also tried the pate and smoked salmon crostinis, which are tasty as well. Every time I come here I feel like I've been transported back to France and it makes me SO happy. Mathieu is such a great host and we love coming to support! They've recently opened for weekend brunch as well. Highly, highly recommend :)

I highly recommend Garcons de Cafe! The ambience and setting allows for very intimate get togethers. Also, if you are feeling fancy! They have both Pâté de Campagne and Foie Gras Terrine. The foie gras terrine was very delicious and it paired very well with the red wine that we got. We came on a Wednesday night, with no reservations. We were able to walk in and be seated. Mathieu was very hospitable. Again, this is a good place for dates, catching up with friends, or even a nightcap. There are a couple of yummy restaurants in LA, but make sure you stop by Garcon de Cafe for a glass of wine before heading home.

great date night spot and they have live jazz on wednesdays! they have a great wine selection with some small bites. recently they expanded their food menu but honestly, most people here (at least when I come) are sipping on wine. the vibe is so intimate and I love coming here. service is a little slow since there's usually just one server but she's really sweet!

I really like this place. Ambience is nice, super relaxed and perfect for an afternoon or early evening meeting or catch up. Friendly staff and the food and drinks were great!

The bottle of wine I ordered so good!

The list clearly favors organic and biodynamic producers, which I always appreciate--minimal intervention, letting the terroir and varietal speak without unnecessary manipulation. The flight format was flexible, offering around five selections with the option to choose three pours. I went with a sparkling red, an orange wine, and a white--each bringing its own personality to the table. The sparkling red was lively and slightly unconventional, the orange wine had that textured, skin-contact complexity, and the white rounded things out with a clean, expressive finish. Our server elevated the experience by guiding the tasting order, which made a noticeable difference in how each wine showed. It's always a good sign when the staff understands how to pace a flight rather than just drop it off and walk away. We didn't explore the food menu this time, so I can't speak to the full program, but purely from a wine perspective, it lands at a solid 4 stars for me. The space itself is ideal for a relaxed midday tasting--plenty of seating, with a great outdoor setup. The tall greenery creates a sense of privacy without feeling closed off, making it just as suitable for a casual date as it is for catching up with friends. Honestly, if you've got a flexible workday and don't need to be on camera, this is a pretty perfect spot to post up with a glass and ease into the afternoon.

My gal pal and I came here on a Friday evening for wine flights and bites, and it reminded me why this place has remained such a neighborhood staple over the years. I hadn't been back in at least a decade, so it was nice to see the place still lively and thriving post-Covid. The inside bar was completely packed, but we lucked out and snagged one of the little outdoor tables. We shared the tater tots and a charcuterie board, while my friend got the Croque Monsieur. Everything paired perfectly with the wine flight we ordered from a visiting winemaker from Spain. His name escapes me, but it was such a cool experience getting to hear him talk through each wine personally. Covell does a great job bringing in unique guest winemakers and making wine feel approachable and fun rather than intimidating. I also love that they occasionally host live music, comedy events, and other happenings -- it gives the space a warm, community vibe. Whether you're looking for a casual date night spot or somewhere to catch up with friends over good wine, this place really hits the mark. The staff have always been incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the wines they serve, which makes the experience even better. That was so good, but there's only 4 slices for about $21. It's dressed in a ponzu yuzu sauce. It was so good that we ended up pouring the left over sauce on to our Tuna Tostada. Both items were fresh and I could not taste any fishiness. We also ordered the Mushroom Risotto and Cacio e Pepe. I thought the risotto was good, but the rice was definitely undercooked. I would have said something, but we didn't have much time left. The pasta reminded me of Mac n Cheese. I thought it was way too salty and didn't really do it for me. Kind of disappointed in the mains, but the 2 apps were really good.

Glassell Park is a hidden neighborhood in Los Angeles, anyway, and if you don't know what you are looking for, you might zip right past W&S, as we did. Parking is hit and miss, but there are side streets and you will find a space if you give yourself an extra 15 minutes before you come. The neighborhood is mysterious to me, sort of pricey grunge & hipster, iykwim. But! Once you are inside, you are in a completely different world. Bright, clean, genteel, muted, with dappled sunlight dripping through various apertures and alighting in a soft glow here and there on shining metal tables. It's beautiful. Some catchy upbeat contempo-pop music streamed steadily at just the right volume overhead. I found myself resisting the temptation to get up and dance. There are several rooms from which to choose, but I wanted to be seated on the wine-red suede banquette that gave me a view of the whole restaurant and out onto the tree-canopied street. From the time we arrived to the moment we left about an hour later, we were showered with warm smiles and attentive service. And the food? Exquisite. See my pictures. It was hard to choose. One tiny disappointment was they were out of the biscuits that I wanted to start with, but I enjoyed the crusty tender Clark Street bread slices served with warm creamery butter instead. It only got better from there. The two bowls we ordered were filled with fresh vegetables, cooked to perfection, topped with an egg prepared as we requested, i.e., over medium. The portions are modest and it was all so good, we didn't take anything home. We ordered coffee and were brought two tall steaming mugs of Americano, smooth, dark, and delicious. Best of all was the Lemon Lavender cake, a seasonal specialty. Honestly, it might be one of the best, moistest, most flavorful and elegant cakes I have ever had. So fantastic, that I just ordered some lavender buds (if I don't collect them from our garden) to replicate it at home. I don't drink much alcohol but if I did, I would head here for one of their experiences or tastings -- they have a formidable list. Check all this out. And hurry if you want to have Lemon Lavender cake.

We would have been happy to overlook the slow service and enjoy a long, relaxed evening catching up with friends--until the end of the night. After we had already paid our bill and were in the middle of dessert, we were abruptly and quite rudely told we needed to leave because they were closing. I didn't even get to finish my dessert, and one of our guests had to abandon a half-full glass of wine as we rushed out. After waiting nearly an hour just to begin our meal, being pushed out the door like that felt incredibly disrespectful. Such a disappointment, because I was really excited to try this place. The food is good and the atmosphere is charming--but the overall experience, especially how we were treated at the end, left a bad impression.
