The base of the smooth, creamy sphere was surrounded by a ring of crunchy dark chocolate. Every bite sent me to the good place. The pistachio cheesecake was equally spectacular in its own way. Take a look at the picture, and you can see the cheesecake surrounded by a supporting cast of cream, strawberries, and blueberries. The cheesecake itself was again, super smooth, creamy, not too sweet, and a perfect taste of pistachio. Oh, and the ambiance of the place is really delightful as well. It's pretty intimate, not too loud, and overlooks the pool area of the hotel, which is quite elegant but not stuffy. Service was excellent even though it was a comped dessert from the hotel. I hope we end up trying their regular menu. They had some great looking pizzas. I suspect they interpret the Margherita pizza as well as they did these desserts.

Which makes perfect sense for this to be an Italian restaurant with a Mexican twist. The setting with 20 foot coffered ceiling is to die for. And the decor of the restaurant is much more upscale than when it was the NoMad hotel - now it has rich velvet banquettes and beautiful armchairs which match the building much more. So top marks for the decor. The food was excellent. I am very skeptical of Italian restaurants in LA when they introduce ingredients from other cuisines (pepitas, cotija cheese, birria, cilantro) but what we had was delicious: the Roman artichokes (more alla giudia than alla romana but it's semantics), squid ink tagliatelle, and the birria orecchiette. My Canella Lido Prosecco was nice and crisp and perfect. Finished off with the Chocolate Nemesis which at $20, I will concede is a bit pricey. I always go on about dessert price inflation being out of control in LA but I have to say it was excellent and worth every p and every extra calorie. Our server Donald was lovely. They nailed the texture (super crispy on the outside, but still rich and "meaty" in the middle). Pork Chop: I haven't had a pork chop this good in a really long time. The coffee marinade gave it such a deep flavor, the grill on it was spot on, and that mustard agrodolce on top added the perfect sweet-and-tangy balance. Tiramisu: Wrapped up the night with dessert, and it was a classic finish. From the gorgeous space to every single dish, the whole experience was fantastic. The - very charming - waitress had put them on the empty table next to us instead. She was friendly. Sadly, she only came to asked if we need something in the second we just had received drinks or food. Whenever we would have possibly wanted to order more: nothing. The food. We were six. We started with Mezze and other shareables. They came. We got silverware for six. Three plates. Any attempt to get more: unsuccessful. Mezzo OK, everything else rather meh. The beef on my burger was killed three times - dry as hell, the fries cold. The view: great. Ambiance other than that: mediocre. The check: $350. Could have been $500, if we were offered more. We were not. 20% tip mandatory. It somewhat explains the inattentive service that includes a tip for a friendly but inattentive service. Leaving: After 20 min wait for our car, the valet attendant gave us the key, asked us to find our car (which was close) and had us serve-serve. Would I go again? Absolutely not. I fear I am not the only one who sees it that way - as half the tables were open - on a Saturday night from 5.30-8:30pm. A shame, as we brought friends and were coming to have a good time.
