Please keep away from this place! I've dealt with businesses in the service/services domain for as long as I've lived , but this scam operation goes well beyond any imaginary scenarios I ever conceived of. First off, I got there as they've been advertised as doing free estimates. Their free estimate is the kind of estimate that gets performed with no opening of the defective component (kind of like fresh produce market kind of expertise). Consequently, I agreed to pay for a real estimate (I definitely understand that the tech needs to get paid for his time), which was, to my honeste suprise, about as brief as the first one (but this time paid for). 'Power supply issues,' that's all I got for the money. I knew this much when I took my component in. During all of this, the owner (?... - guy at the desk) continued to aggresively pursue an agenda of 'xxx dollars will fix it completely,' which I politely continued to decline, as I'm looking for a selective service per charge (there are the issues - list - this is how much each thing costs to fix - list). During all of this, I got treated as - initially - a brainless cow to milk and - towards the end - as a thief that's worthy of mob treatment. Therefore, I got threatened that all my information - where I work, what I do, etc - has been tracked online by their IT wing. I honestly said I will do my best to expose their deceiving services and that my business standards are way above their usual operations. This released hell upon me and that's when the threats started. They actually knew enough to make me sure they did indeed research me. Keep away, it's not that these people do not know what it means to be in an honest business where you respect your client etc., but will shed their mob-like ways at the slightest sign of danger to get exposed. read more

I don't even know where to begin. I had to get the police involved with this, I've never had to do that in my life. Their business plan is criminal. Textbook bait and switch. Hidden terms that he will throw in your face once you discover things are going south. Upon trying to reason with him; his response?: he'll start charging me by the minute for his time to listen to me. These are far the worst crooks I have ever seen. These must be fake reviews who ever is giving them 4-5 stars. Trust me if I could give them lower I would. How they can still be in business I don't know. I brought a stereo and guitar amp in to them to be repaired. Neither one worked well after I got it back after 2.5 months. I would give a negative star if that was an option. After looking at all other reviews, I am not surprised to see the poor ratings! The owner of Just Service is a rude, dishonest man. I usually don't post negative experiences on yelp but this experience was so awful, I feel compelled to warn others with technology troubles to be advised to go to BELL, not Just Service. First, this man lied to me about the length of time the repair would take. A 10 day window turned into 2 months, where we paid to run cable in our home without a tv, not knowing when we would get the tv back. It was near impossible to get through to a person when calling for an update, their online center gives a generic answer for the delay and after 4 phone calls, I was greeted with an rude tone of voice for trying to find out what was causing such a delay. When the tv was finally ready the owner was SO rude. I called to ask if he can help with the price considering the extensive delay and cost of running cable and poor communication through the process. After rudely telling me he would not do anything I let him know I would not be recommending him to family and friends. He then laughed at me and said "Well if that is the kind of person you are.." I responded "this is kind of business you are running" The owner then yelled at me over the phone saying he would not be insulted by me and hung up the phone. I was shocked. I never raised my voice or got angry on the phone with him and his treatment was completely unjustified. Little does this man know I make a living supporting young children with special needs and am an active member in helping the homeless in my free time. I felt so uncomfortable picking up the tv, I sent my fiance in with my ID to get the TV. The owner then told my fiance that I lied to my fiance about his customer service and told my fiance this is a problem with our generation. If that's not bad enough he then said give me my money when my fiance asked to see the tv on and working in the store. My fiance, a usually calm man slammed his cash on the counter. NO ONE deserves to be treated this way when consulting business. This man has no respect or care for his customers. He is one of two repair shops in town which is why he is still in business. He deserves to be put out by treating honest, good people like this. I am not used to be treated in such a way and this experience has really shaken me up. I have just experienced what may be the single worst customer service experience of my life. A few weeks ago I took an old, brass lamp that belongs to my mom to Just Service. It was loose around the top and had very old wiring. My instructions were to deliver it, which I did. My mom had discussed the lamp with someone at the shop, so I just dropped it off. What I didn't know was that they would only take cash. Thus, I had to leave the lamp and go to the bank for cash to finish the transaction. When I finally got back with the cash and left with the repair contract in hand, the man at the counter said he wasn't sure they could fix it, but they would try. When I went to pick it up today it not only wasn't fixed, it had broken shards of brass taped to the base. He said "they" had spent a lot of time trying to fix it. I am absolutely sure the base was not broken when I dropped it off. I certainly never would have taken it in if I had spotted any cracks in the brass. But he claimed that it was cracked when I dropped it off. If it had been, why on earth would he have taken it? He also claimed that it had missing parts. Again, why would he accept an antique fixture with missing parts? Where is he going to order replacements in 2010? So my mom is out not only the $45 non refundable deposit, but now has a broken lamp. I certainly wouldn't rely on them to fix a 100 year old lamp with simple wiring, much less a modern electronic device. Unfortunately with their cash-only policy one doesn't have the protection of using a credit card either. At least with a credit card you would have some chance of getting a refund through the charge-back procedure. read more

Took my stereo to Just Service for repair; they said they would call when it was ready. Two weeks later, no call, checked online and saw it was ready. Went to pick it up, they insisted they had called, but I had no record of a call. You cannot call them to check. I went to pay $140 repair charge and was told they do not take credit cards but there was a Chase ATM around the corner. Who walks around with $140 cash????? But not to worry, in exchange for your hard earned cash, you will also get an ample does of rudeness, attitude, and condescension in return. Whenever you call to politely ask "how are things going with the amp?", you may be lucky enough to hear just how mangled your equipment is along with a snide remark that they have no idea of when they will ever get around to fixing it. "Just Absolutely Horrible Service" could "pass" on fixing your amp, like another local business did, if they thinks it's beyond repair, but they probably won't be able to pass up showing you just how horrible a service experience could be. No stars for this thief. I was desperate to get a new machine quickly, and he said he could deliver a new PC in two days - he did, but it never worked. I had to call the police to pick up my software and computer - he built it from cannibalized parts from my laptop without my knowledge, let alone permission. Then he refused to give me my paid for software and computer without my drivers license number - which he can use to garner personal info about me - when I finally caved he STILL wouldn't give me my stuff - kept yacking about how everything was my fault.. After the police came, the cop told me I shouldn't have given him my ID, but it was too late. I spent $850 on a desktop that couldn't use MS update (I owned the OS), or my zone alarm security suite - he refused to honor the warranty if I didn't buy new security subscription that he dictated. After all this, the machine died - after 2 1/2 months. I chalked it up to an expensive lesson because trying to deal with him was out of the question. There are a lot more CRAZY details, but suffice it to say that this place does NOT deserve your patronage. FYI - anybody in business for 17 years who only accepts cash and has a cash machine in his entry should have set alarm bells off from the beginning. read more

well, here's an update folks. after going back to onkyo customer service, in addition to a certified repair shop in arlington heights, they also recommended rex service in worth, illinois. turns out, it's on the southside, and relatively easily accessible by freeway. http://www.yelp.com/biz/rex-service-company-worth night and day, guys. i dropped it off, mentioned it was amazon.com, and NO problem. after the nightmare at "just service," i almost didn't believe it. it did take some time for the repair, but this was mostly due to onkyo shipping a defective board (they eventually just gave me a new dvd player.) but i called back weekly, and each time they were VERY pleasant, updated me on the status, and encouraged me to call back whenever for updates (which i eventually did twice, and they simply gave me the update of the situation, with no impatience). anyway these sites tend to be for complainers, but maybe after such a nightmare at "just service," i figured to let onkyo owners you do have an attitude-free choice, and it was WELL worth the trip to rex service. read more

Having been referred by Panasonic, I took in my TV which was under warranty. They were vague about when it would be done, so when I got home I checked Yelp. The astonishingly negative reviews freaked me out and I almost went back to retrieve my TV but felt the die was cast. I was very pleasantly surprised when they called a week later to say it was fixed (which indeed it was). I agree that they might improve their "bedside manner" a bit and try to be clearer about time frames to manage expectations but I am quite happy with the outcome in my case. read more

The first time I went the guy gave me a good deal and the turn around was QUICK.....But then not even a month later my speaker got messed up again, he charged me more than what he did the first time when i went the secod time even when I showed him my 1st receipt and they were gonna fix the same thing as before. I had them restore my 1973 Marantz Receiver and they honesty did a great job. I had to take it back and have the owner show me how to use it but once he did, it was smooth sailing. I know there are a lot of negative reviews on this place but I honestly had a good experience. There are also many negative reviews on the owner himself and he was the one who patiently helped me when I brought it back in. Maybe be selective as to what you bring in for them to repair. Absolutely horrible!! I took an Onkyo receiver into them four weeks ago and just got it back today. The kicker is, they didn't fix the problem. This place is the only Onkyo repair in Chicago center and because my receiver is under warranty I had to go there. If I had to pay for this I would turn them into the police. They told me that the problem was fixed. They also told me that the only repair they did was fix some bad soldering jobs. HORRIBLE...I NEVER WRITE REVIEWS FOR ANY BUSINESS OR SERVICE.... RIPPED ME OFF SO BAD THAT I HAD TO POST THIS!!! ZERO STARS!! In June 2010, I purchased 2 technics 1200's turntables (used) that needed minor repair. The owner of Just Service charged me about $120 for the cleaning and rebuilding everything in the turntables and he said that "they are basically brand-new now". However, a few months after , I have noticed that the slider pitch on one of the turntables was never fixed (My turntables are always in cases and have been taken care of very well). I returned to Just Service on January 19th 2011, and told them my exact problem "My pitch control is off, when it is at 2.0% it reads 0.5% and the same for all the other numbers on the pitch." The owner decided that the solution would be replacing the slider. He charged me $65 and the pitch was NEVER FIXED. I contacted him again, and explained my problem and he treated me like an idiot and said "the pitch is off because of the linearity of the turntable and cant be fixed", he got really frustrated and hung up the phone in mid conversation. He said that the pitch cannot be calibrated, then I researched and called other stores and gave them the model of my turntable and they said it CAN BE calibrated. He claims that I said my pitch doesn't change (effect the speed) period... WROOOONG... I have Serato, and I see the pitch changing, but it was never accurate to the pitch control on the turntable. There are a lot more inconvenient details that I would like to share, but it would take pages and pages to express myself. However, they are related to: 1. Poor customer service 2. RUDENESS 3. Delayed repairs 4. Over pricing 5. Promising a solution and not committing to that promise for an amount paid. DON'T EVEN CONSIDER REPAIRING ANYTHING THERE. read more

All of his statements leave his customer able to take offense so he can retroactively justify his either failing to fix something or neglecting to fix it altogether. he had my tv for 5 days (it was taken out by a surge), charged me 120 bucks, and it was still as dead, as if he had done nothing but just held on to it. Then when we tried to sort it out he was condescending, and still planned to charge if it turned out something needed repair (i had already paid!!!) One of the guys there worked as a repair technician for Bose for over 2 decades so I figured it was the place to go for my unit. When I dropped it off they quoted a minimum price and it turned out that they needed to do a lot of work on it (Unbeknownst to me water had been spilled, rusting out the insides), but they only charged me $20.00 over the minimum. read more

I did not deal with this business in person, but rather thru their web site. I had a vcr-dvd recorder that needed repair. On the web site you can print out a repair order and send it in along with your device and they will call you when they receive it and let you know if it can be repaired and the cost involved. I followed their instructions and in less than two weeks my machine was returned to me in fine working order. I would definitely deal with these folks again. read more

The only reason I brought my home theater receiver to Just Service was because it was listed as an authorized service center. This was the worst mistake. To make a long story short, Tom kept the receiver for almost TWO months and could not fix it and blamed me for breaking it. I ended up having to pay $180 for something that still didn't work. I finally sent it to All Tech electronics who is a Regional Service center for most of the medium to high end home theater receivers located in New Jersey. All Tech called me ONE week later and told me that it was the digital processing board. I was lucky enough to have the manufacturer warranty the part and all is good. PLEASE do NOT even think about going to Just Service. If you have a home theater receiver that is in need to fixing, try ALL Tech Electronics Inc. Only 1 star because you can't give zero! I took my A/V receiver to them as it was under warranty for repair. The guy behind the counter seemed to lack customer interaction skills, but I overlooked that as I understand tech geeks as I have worked in the technical marketplace for over 35 years as well as having advanced electronic troubleshooting skills and am an experienced engineer. When I received my receiver back it worked again so I was content with it. After a few months it began exhibiting the same problems as before. (Going into fault mode due to overheating) I then placed a small fan next to the unit which seemed to resolve the problem, temporarily. After a few more months the sporadic problems became routine, so I took it back. This time the same technician was more dismissive, but he took the receiver and after 3 weeks I received it back in apparent working condition. ( I must note that when my girlfriend went to pick up the receiver the same technician had her wait 15 minutes while he continued with a personal phone call) This speaks to his "customer service" skills. After only 1 month the receiver exhibited the same problems. Again, I have the receiver on a shelf with all vents unobstructed and a small task fan running for good air flow. When I called the manufacturer to discuss the problem they recommended I take it back to the same place one more time. The same technician calls me and asks me what am I doing to the receiver. I tell him that I am turning it on and it immediately goes into fault mode. He tells me that I MUST be doing something wrong and asks me about my other components and speakers. I explain that I only have a Blu-ray player and cable box input, with 3 speakers as the output (Left, right, and center), and I do not listen to it at a high volume level. He asks me what the resistance is on the speakers and I tell him they have a 8 ohm nominal impedance. He begins to lecture me that speakers aren't always 8 ohms and they are probably less. To which I reply, "That's why it's called nominal impedance". At this point he wants me to bring the speakers in as well, so he can test the unit with the speakers. I told him there is nothing wrong with my speakers and that when I disconnect everything but the power cord and turn it on, it still goes into fault mode. This seemed not to matter to him. Not only do I question the technical skill of this repair facility, the technician I have talked to each time I have visited is rude, dismissive and will never receive my business again. I'd rather drive 30 miles out of the city to another approved repair facility than take it to this one which is only a couple miles from me. I Sent a DJ deck from Florida to get fixed. Sent them $185. They told me it would take months to get replacement parts...fine.. I get it After six months i got it back. It still does not work. The only communication I get from the fat, rude slob and runs the place is when I send a pissed email. He replies... "Maybe if you answered your phone when we called the multiple times you would know Numark does not have parts to fix your item and we had to order them from China which took forever to arrive." (There were no calls. The only call I got was a call to Mail them $185 and they can choke on it) The mixer was repaired and working perfectly after being dropped and misused by you. (It was accidently dropped. Yes, I'm human..and blind! But This place could not fix it properly and could not fathom the fact that they made a mistake and did not come though) But I guess communication is not your strong point. (That's calling the kettle black. They don't want to even work it out) We have plenty of customers and large clients that use our service and are very pleased with out work. OK, the place did fix my item. I was really worried I'd be scammed after reading all these reviews. He was unfriendly. Strike one. He charged $40 deposit and said it would cost $120-160 without even looking at the item or telling me what he thought was wrong with it. Strike two. He said he would call me the next day and was confident it would be done, but he did not call and the repair took one week. That's close to strike three, so I wouldn't go back unless I absolutely had to. But the item works, so far (1 week later). So I figured I should give the place 3 stars. Bad experience from start to finish.Lets start with the first phone call.I just wanted to see if they had issues with the Blu Ray I had and if I was better off trashing it and get a new one.Service rep wouldn't help and said just bring it in.28 miles (one way) and I'm walking into a shop beat up and un kept at best.Rep says that unit has been used a lot (I keep my things clean and neat).I get an estimate between 140 and 160 dollars.A lot of money but I agreed.Now the guy says he needs a 40 dollar deposit in cash,no plastic.I tell the guy you never told me you needed a deposit on the phone and I don't have 40 cash WTF....I scrape 30 cash and I'm out the door.You can no longer deal with people, now you are directed to use their website only........I check every week for 10 weeks,yes I said 10 weeks.Now I get fed up and send a not so nice email requesting a repair or return.WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW the very next day I get a call and the guy says your unit can be repaired for 500+ dollars.It took ten weeks to tell me that.Went and drove 28 more miles 10 weeks later and 30 dollars poorer with the same unit I started with.I only used this company because they are a Panasonic authorized service center,Panasonic will also get a ear full for using these people.Stay WAY clear. read more

this place is the worst. $40 and 5 months of waiting on my projector for the guy to shrug and say, "it's broken."
