On on June 22, 2026 I brought in my Daughters General Electric Mickey Mouse clock radio. The clocked worked but the radio did not. This radio was made in the 1960's and 1970's and is a collectable item. The tech looked at it and plugged it in to hear the radio buzz but the radio would not pull in a station. He said it was fixable and it would be ready in a week. Two days later they called me and said it was fixed ready to be picked up. I really appreciated the quick service and reasonable pricing for the repair. I got it home and plugged it in and turned it on. It sounded just like it did when it was new! My Daughter hasn't seen it since it was stored in our attic. Wont she be surprised! I can't wait to see the look on her face when I give it to her! read more

Dropped off a Bose Wave Radio with a broken CD reader on a Monday. They were closed Tuesday, and then they had it ready and working for me on Thursday morning. Thrilled with the results! They charge a $45 deposit fee at dropoff that goes toward the device repair, mostly so you remember to pick up your device within 30 days and they aren't doing repairs for nothing. Repair cost will depend on what needs fixing. In my case, they had to do some work on a control board no longer sold by the manufacturer. You can avoid fees by paying in cash. Very nice owners! read more

I've been doing business with Syd for at least three years and in that time he repaired and tuned my Nakamichi TA4A amplifier and fixed my 7 disc Nakamichi CD player and upgraded the entire unit with a new laser device that superseded the original equipment. I was soooooo happy with the results that when I spotted another Nakamichi TA4A on EBay for a good price, I didn't hesitate to purchase it because I knew Syd and his team would bring it up to snuff. One day I just was in the area so I stopped in to say hi and he had just finished fixing a 60 inch Samsung plasma TV that was given to him and he asked me if I was interested in buying it for 150 bucks. Of course I bought it? Are you Crazy? What a deal! I've had it for over a year now and I'm thinking about bringing it back just for a tuneup because I plan on keeping this baby for a long time. Thank you Syd,Hamed, and Jackie read more

Over the last few years, I have had two TV's repaired by Peckens. In both cases, the TV's are performing well and I found Peckens to do the work rapidly and with very fair pricing. read more

Syd and his team did a fantastic job repairing my amplifier and turn table. I had them in storage for years and was hoping they could get them back up and running. They did and the system works and sounds great. Great price and they had it done in a short amount of time. I highly recommend them for any electronics repair. I am bringing in my cassette deck next to be repaired. My whole stereo system is almost completed! Now I can enjoy all the records, CD's and eventually cassettes that I accumulated through the years and when I was a kid. Thank you for helping bring home stereo music back into my life! read more

This was highly professional and affordable service for my Bose radio. I don't think of a better technician then Syd to repair this brand because he is the best and may be only one of a few. I called to Bose company before and didn't get much help beside shipping and waiting 6-8 weeks. Service was done in one day!!! Sol M Chicago read more

I've used Peckens over the years to repair Samsung model televisions that I wanted to keep rather than buy a new one. I've also purchased high quality large screen televisions from this vendor. The repairman is very knowledgeable with great experience and quick repair. Waiting on an ordered part to be delivered is usually the only issue. I recommend this company to my friends. read more

I took an old Bose Wave CD/ radio to Syd. The CD player did not work. He was fantastic! Called me with an estimate and the work was completed within a week (even over New Years). I couldn't be happier with the repair. May bet the only repair shop that deals with ANYTHING- old or new. read more

The folks who run this business are courteous, professional and efficient. The backlight in my Samsung TV went out, so I brought it in for repair. The gentleman carried it out & put it in my car. Price for repairs were quite reasonable. I got it back today & it works beautifully. If I have issues with any of my TV's they're going to Peckens TV for repairs. I highly recommend giving them a try. read more

WORTH THE DRIVE!!! I'll tell you, after countless shops told me they could fix my DVD recorders, and then said "Sorry, can't fix it," and one guy who just screamed at me that he WOULDN'T touch them, and that parts weren't available, I happened upon reviews for Syd's shop and gave him a call. He said he would do his best to try to fix as many as he could (I have four, and Syd has repaired three so far. Every time one of mine stopped working, I just bought another one ... but they don't make these machines anymore, and the refurbished ones only last about 18 months if you're lucky! You can purchase "refurbished" ones on Amazon for upwards of $1000, and I can't afford that!) If parts aren't available, he will do what he can to FIX THE PARTS! Nobody does that anymore! One of my repaired my machines failed after a few days, I brought it back, and Syd fixed it again (under WARRANTY!). I have several more electronic devices that I want to have him fix when I can afford it (I'm on disability). His prices are reasonable and he stands behind his work! So I don't mind driving THREE HOURS round trip!!! What a blessing! read more

Everyone here was extremely nice. The technicians and everyone else working there were helpful and welcoming. They helped me complete a repair on a pair of Bose 601 Series III speakers, and saved me a lot of time and money! Definitely would recommend! read more

Worst service ever. Brought in my tv to be repaired, and keep getting the run around from several people that work there. Can't get a straight answer from anyone about what is going on with the repair. It was dropped off 3 weeks ago. Still nothing, I finally talk to a lady on week 4 and the lady that says they can't get the parts so then there is nothing the can do. Take your business elsewhere. read more

Syd is an absolute genius. We have taken several items all of which were repaired, Fireplaces, Microwaves, a Dyson vacuum cleaner, etc... in a prompt time frame and at a reasonable price. Brought my PS Audio 4.6 preamplifier to Peckens because it would only hum really loud when turned on. Syd and his team worked on it and fixed it within a week and a half. It now sounds like it did when I bought it in '87. They found capacitors on the board that were destroyed during a power surge. I brought my Marantz Monoblock MA700/ here a few months previously because it wouldn't turn on. Syd and his team fixed it in just 3 days!!! It's been working great ever since. Another note.... Jackie the secretary there is extremely professional and very nice. If any of my other electronics go out the only place I'll take it for an estimate/repair is Peckens TV in Roselle, Illinois. read more

Peckens' is a household repair shop in Roselle. The clip that holds the water canister on my Rainbow vacuum cleaner broke. Peckens' had an old Rainbow on hand that they were able to use to repair the clip. That was lucky! They also adjusted the clip on the other side. The service I received was fast and affordable. Thank you Peckens'! Now back to vacuuming........ :) It's nice to have a local shop that can fix almost anything! read more

When my beloved Panasonic plasma TV suddenly stopped turning on, I called just about every "TV Repair" listing I could find in the Chicago area. It was a relief when Jackie at Peckens picked up the phone and told me that sure, they could repair my TV. They were communicative, clear and fair. Being honest, they could have charged me just about anything because what do I know? But the final charge was actually less than we anticipated. One "buffer board" replacement later, my gorgeous plasma screen is entertaining us again. Don't needlessly send your TV to the landfill--have Peckens repair it for you. read more

Run as far away as you can to avoid aggravation , Left two emails requesting in home service and no response.... travelled to their address and discussed my needs of a home visit for quote on repairs required . Got a call back that afternoon and said they would be out the next day // Stayed home all day and no one ever showed , called their Phone number and No Answer /// Has to be classified as the worst customer service I have ever encountered !!! read more

We went in to get an " interim " tv as our tv was damaged and we were not yet ready to make another big purchase on a brand new one. Jackie was such a delight . She helped us as well as the owner and another repair man and their service was exemplary all around. We were offered a tv at a very fair price that had just been repaired and they also offered to take the other damaged irrepairable tv off our hands for 10.00 that they gladly took off as a discount. We had looked at the "big box" stores as well but were drawn back to Pekens to not only support a small deserving local business that has been in business for 60 years, but that we also knew that we would be taken care should any problem arise. We will continue to patronize this business for future needs for our children's electronics. read more

Had no sound on my tv. Called Comcast and got recording saying outage in my area. Called back 4 more times; same thing. Called Peckens. The picture went out on our 40" Sony Bravia TV so we looked in the Yellow pages for a repair place. We called Peckens mainly because the ad said they have been "established over 50 years". Two technicians showed up the next day. They looked a little puzzled when they looked at the set. One said "Is that a DLP?" Well no it isn't. It was almost like they had never seen a flat screen TV before. So I turn on the set. Sound but no picture. They said "Well we'll have to take it in to the shop to look at it." We said your ad says "in home service". They said, "yes, service, not repair." One of the techs said they had been in business 30 years. Well which is it, 30 years or 50+ years? We said "No thanks", and paid $49 for the service call. read more

The Peckens Repair shop is truly Awesome. They provide GREAT service at reasonable prices. Took my DLP tv at 10am in the morning and it was ready by 12:45. The owner has many years of experience and really shows how much he appreciates his customers. Very friendly and talkative. I've been to his shop 3 times since I've lived in Roselle since 2012. I had my tv fixed here because the sound wasn't working. The cost was high and it took me 5-6 times of going to the shop to finally find it open. There is rarely anyone there and they make no effort to accommodate when you would like to pick it up. Also they only accept cash and no credit cards which is also shady and inconvenient. read more

I took my Sharp 65" LED tv to Pecken Tv Shop for repair. Tv had no picture, HDMI input was not working, was lying dead in the basement for more than a year. Sharp told us that it was out of warranty and they can't help. Sharp suggested that we buy a hdmi port board $130.00 and we did. Still not working. I spoke to the Owner of Peckens TV. Man, believe me he fixed it. Fast service. Very reasonable price. Very dependable service. No dancing no gommic. Great job. Recently I brought two rather rare high end pieces of audio/video equipment to Peckens TV and Video to be repaired. Their technician did an excellent job both in correctly diagnosing the problem each unit had and in repairing them. In one instance he even had to modify an existing mechanical part to fit my unit. Needless to say this unit, along with my other one, now work flawlessly. I am so happy that I found Peckens TV and Video. Their service is reasonable, prompt and most importantly competent. I have a lot of exotic electronic toys and now I know where I can get them fixed if the need arises. I whole heartedly recommend this fine service to all those who enjoy audio and home theater as I do. read more

So I made a mistake in my previous review. I stated on the 29th of September, that 2 months had passed since Peckens took our t.v. to their repair shop. It had actually been a month and a half. That being said, they did end up holding on to it for two months before I arrived there on an unexpected visit to retrieve it. They claimed in a previous call that it wasn't worth the cost to repair it and so they offered to sell us a different T.V. but they would sell it to us for a higher price than what we would be charged to fix the one we own now. Obviously they are just looking for an opportunity to get as much money out of us as they can so we declined the offer. When I came in to pick it up, they told me they needed time to piece it back together because they still hadn't done so. Fair enough seeing as how I didn't schedule an appointment to begin with. What wasn't fair was the mess they had left on and around the t.v. Multiple items, boxes and parts were just left sitting on the open backside of the T.V. and I don't know how long they were planning to wait before they removed that junk! (the technician actually started removing everything when he saw me staring at it). I understand that our t.v was a "lost cause" but I still expect for them to treat their customer's products with more care. STILL hate this shop, still advise everyone to go elsewhere. read more

Do not use this company to purchase a new TV. When getting a TV repaired, we were shown a Samsung TV that we could purchase brand new. Two months later, the TV broke and Peckens offered no solutions to help us. We then disputed with our credit card company to receive our money back since he sold us a TV that broke within two months. He now claims we have a 4 year warranty with the TV- which we NEVER told about when we purchased the TV or when we called when it broke. All of the sudden when he gets his money pulled he offers us a warranty that was never mentioned to use before. We then found out that he actually bought this TV from Costco and resold it in his shop. So in reality, this is HIS warranty- not ours. He will not take the TV back unless we pay him $200.00. What??? Why would we pay him to take back a broken TV. All very sketchy. We learned our lesson- never buy a TV from anywhere except BestBuy where they actually help you. read more

I have a Panasonic t v that was given to me because the lamp was burned out and the owner did not want to have it fixed. I found Peckens in the yellow pages and took the t v in for an estimate(375.00). Agreed to have them fix. After two years still working great, not bad for a t v valued at 2200.00. Would not hesitate to use them again and have recommended this business to my friends . read more

I had a great experience at Peckens. I just had my home theater system receiver repaired. It's an Onkyo 7.1 THX receiver. From the time I dropped it off to the time I picked it up was 5 days. They also accepted credit cards, so I'm not sure why there are reviews saying they don't. They were friendly, explained the process, and fixed my issue. I paid a $30 deposit for troubleshooting and that $30 would be deducted from my final repair bill if I chose to have it repaired, which I did and it was deducted from my final bill. I was having sound and picture issues that at first went away after a minute, then a few mintues, then 5, 10, 30, etc before it just stopped working. Looking online, it turns out to be very common with Onkyo receivers. They replaced quite a few capacitors and it now works. They were also very reasonable with their pricing. My brother also had his TV repaired a week earlier with Peckens (Samsung plasma that had no picture and sound), and that was also done within 10 days and very reasonable in price. Neither one of us saw the reviews before hand so I'm surprised to see them all negative, but I'm glad we didn't and came in. Hopefully the few bad reviews are just isolated instances, you figure they have way more than just 5 customers. Their shop is pretty cool too, tons of stuff inside. I would recommend giving them a chance based on mine and my brother's experience. read more
