A 5- to 6-year old TV was apparently affected by a power surge due to a close lightning strike. Mike (owner/sole employee) was called and came out to look at the TV. He determined that the main board was non-functional and needed to be replaced.
He came out on 10/29/16 and looked at the TV, determining the main board was needing replaced. He quoted us $288.60 to replace and install the board. He asked for approximately half up front and we paid him $150. He would order the board and arrange to come back and install. He thought a week to 10 days to get the board. After continued calls to him, he finally came back out about a month later to install the board. Upon attempting, he said that the board wouldn't work as it was for a new TV (so he got the WRONG board). He said he would order to correct board and off he went.
After a couple of weeks of NOT hearing from him, I called him 2-3 times and he finally answered. He said that he was told the board was back ordered and would be a couple of weeks. A couple of weeks later, after hearing nothing, I was able to reach him after a few more call attempts and he informed me that the board was not available anymore. However, I could send the board into Vizio and for $150 plus shipping they could fix it. I declined as I could buy a new TV with the money I was spending. I informed him that we were done and that we would like a refund since he didn't get the board and didn't fix anything and we paid him $150 for essentially nothing. He said he would send us a refund, minus a restocking fee for the wrong board (not sure how that was my issue). Finally, last week (January 10th) we received a check...for $3.75!!! No explanation, No detail. And certainly not the refund I expected.
We were charged $146.25 for him to look at the TV, determine the board was bad (which I gave him the circumstance so it wasn't hard to diagnose) and then order the wrong board and determine it wouldn't work. I can see paying for a service call for the original issue but believe that I should have been refunded beyond that. $3.75 is an insult and theft, in my view. He is extremely difficult to get a hold of. rarely answers his phone and doesn't respond in a timely manner. I left a detailed voice message and he returned my call and left a message stating if I have questions about repairing a TV to call him. He stated that he missed my call but didn't bother to listen to the message.
I would certainly not recommend him for service and will never contact him for service again. read more
