I dropped my brand new iPhone on concrete and shattered the screen. Gah! I hate dealing with the prices, lines and idiots at the AT&T or Apple Stores, so I decided to turn to trusty Yelp to find a local phone repair store. I called three places before calling iRescue911 (I was looking for the fastest repair time for the best price). When I called iRescue, a super friendly dude answered the phone and told me he could replace the screen in an hour or less, and his price was way better than the other stores I called. Huzzah! Brian (one of the owners, from what I gathered) fixed my phone so fast and sent me on my merry way with an invoice that wouldn't even make my frugal husband flinch. Wow, what a surprisingly good experience! No one ever enjoys getting something fixed. It's an annoying, unexpected expense and the process is usually a huge nightmare - calling in warranties, dealing with automated phone systems, getting the general sense that no one cares whether or not you get your computer back in time for that big presentation or not. That was not the case at Gadget Bar! I dropped off my obnoxiously large, self-built computer for them to take a look at. I was having issues with my graphics cards or something and wanted an outside opinion on how to address the issue. I left the computer and expected a response in a day or two. I heard nothing for a whole week. My red flags went way up! Was the whole computer and phone repair business and elaborate hoax to run away with my multi-thousand dollar computer system?!? I called ready to get my business voice on, but was reassured that they were working on it and dealing with custom systems takes time. The next day I got a phonecall from the technician, Tyler, assuring me there was significant progress and my computer was just more messed up then either of us had anticipated. Over the next few days he gave me daily updates and asked for my approval before making potentially expensive mods to my case and hardware. The process was very painful, and as someone who knows a good deal about computers he absolutely was not taking advantage of me. The whole process took about a week and a half. I picked up the computer and the total repair costs were MUCH lower than I expected, even when dealing with such custom hardware! I was impressed with the work and the professionalism! The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 was for the week with no contact, but they quickly changed their tune once they knew it was an issue for me! Overall I had a very pleasant repair process with the homies at the bar, and will be bringing my stuff back if I'm ever unfortunate enough to have another computer problem I can't fix on my own! read more

Brian (Gadget Bar owner) fixed the issue at no additional cost, and showed he cares about his reputation and clients. I hope the issues will not arise again. Could this place get any better? Um no. Because they are the best. This was our last ditch effort (our 3rd stop on a Saturday) - and I'm kicking myself as to why I didn't come here for our first stop. They fixed my destroyed 5C phone screen in 25 minutes. The new screen seems even better quality than the original screen. As an aside, after I came here - my mom told me that she had taken her Gen1 ipad cracked screen to them last year and had a great experience. She said they had hand cut the new glass screen as they do not have the Gen1 screens available anymore. read more

This is a terrific business. The owner operated business opened three years ago and offers great service and fair pricing in a convenient location. I trust GadgetBar for my phone, tablet and PC repair needs. My son broke off a headphone plug inside the jack of his iPad. Apple would have charged more than the IPad 4 is worth. Brian at the Gadget Bar is awesome. We have a built-in fireplace in our sunroom with a remote control that has an LCD screen and a few buttons. The buttons all stopped working a while back and we couldn't find a new remote anywhere. So, while it was probably an unusual request, we brought it to Brian and he couldn't have been any nicer or more enthusiastic about helping us fix it. He took it apart and confirmed that all the buttons on the circuit board were worn out. He found the exact button replacements online from a random Chinese supplier, ordered them for us, and soldered them onto the circuit board. The remote works like new again. Parts and labor were very reasonable - certainly less than buying a new remote. I would encourage you to look around your house for electronics that aren't working and bring them to The Gadget Bar to let Brian tinker with them! read more

While trying to swap out the hard drive on my daughter's computer I broke a component off of the power button board. I could not find a replacement and I was thinking it will be crazy if I have to buy a new laptop over this. I brought it into Brian and he soldered the component back onto the board. It was not an easy task, it was a complicated job because the circuit was on its side and it had three contact points. He not only fixed power button board, but also fixed one of the keys on the keyboard, and tightened up the touchpad. All for a VERY good price. I highly recommend the Gadget Bar! read more

Avoid Apple store at woodfield, come here. I made the mistake of taking my iphone to Apple's dummybar at woodfield. They could not fix the phone and made it unrepairable! I took it to gadgetbar. These guys have the tools to look at circuit boards and truly diagnose issues. So all Apple tried to fix my phone was replacing the battery, but because the "tech" was lazy she simply pried the battery off breaking some leads on the board. Gadgetbar could have fixed the phone if I brought it there first, but now the leads under the board are impossible to get at. read more

My kids broke the screens on an iPad air and an iPad mini. I called around to find a place that repaired both of them, and they were the only store within 20 miles that had the parts for both in stock. I took the iPads in and the employees were very professional and helpful. In fact, the iPad mini had a few more broken parts that the store had to have shipped from Chicago and I wasn't charged extra. They were in touch with me during the repairs and worked really fast.
