I brought my cell phone in for a battery replacement. I have a Motorola Droid X. I purchased an online battery that was the correct one but it was defective. The nice young man put in my battery for me but it wouldn't hold a charge. He ordered another battery for me through his own source and installed it a few days later. The phone worked perfectly. He didn't charge me twice but he could have since the first battery was mine. He even opened early for me one day because I had to be to work earlier. Wonderful service. Great price. After comparing prices in nearby Schaumburg I decided to give this place a try. I don't often try places with only a few reviews but I figure someone has to right? I brought in my Nexus 6P to have its battery replaced because it was reaching its end of life only holding a charge for a few hours. The gentleman behind the counter ordered the battery and let me know it would be in within the week. Upon arrival I dropped my phone off and it was repaired within the hour. Upon getting home with the phone it began to spontaneously shut off without warning and refuse to turn back on. I immediately brought it back and learned together with the shop owner that apparently a large majority of Nexus 6P batteries manufactured before October of 2015 had a massive hardware flaw in them which caused this behavior. He ordered a battery marked after this date, replaced the battery again at no additional charge and today the phone works as well as the day I bought it. I have since recommended this store to family and friends because he does a great job, does it for a completely reasonable price, and when an issue arises he sorts it out. This is a good local business and I will be going to them again in the future. read more

I'm very glad to have stopped in at Smart Fix. I had a Dell Inspiron with a flaky power port on it. Over time it had become loose and it wasn't charging the battery and it wouldn't power the laptop unless the power cable was jiggled around. I had purchased a replacement power port wiring harness online and planned on replacing it myself. However, once I got to screw #20 and about the 3rd layer in, I realized I didn't have the tools or the expertise to fix this problem. So, I started looking around for a shop to do the work. I'm happy to say that Inkyo was able to swap out the power port harness and had the laptop back up and running in no time at all. I've gone to other fix-it places in the past and I've had mixed results. I'm happy to say that Smart Fix did the work well, fixed my problem and the price was completely reasonable. If you have a broken phone, tablet or computer, I heartily recommend stopping in to our hometown tech fix-it shop, Smart Fix, to get it repaired. read more

I brought in my iPhone SE because it was having some random touch screen issues that made using the phone frustrating and at times impossible. I was under the impression that I would have to take it to the Apple store to get a whole new phone, but I thought I would get a second opinion. The nice man at the store here said he could fix it with a screen replacement of $50, which is not only less than the new phone I would have to buy but also less than what was actually listed on his website. Maybe it was due to my screen not being cracked, but either way it was awesome to see that he was able to be flexible with pricing. He replaced it in 30 min, but I was still having issues the next day, so I brought it back and again and he replaced it, no charge, and it worked perfectly. Then a week later there was a cosmetic issue with a white dot appearing on the screen and so I brought it back and he replaced it again, no charge. By the third time I assumed that there is just something wrong with my phone, and I was willing to pay for a fix and all that, but this shop owner refused and replaced it again for nothing extra. As I was leaving he made it very clear that if there were any issues with it in the future, he would replace it. All three times of the replacement, he also gave me a free screen protector, which was a very nice touch. Great price and great service, this store is the perfect place to have your phone fixed by an honest and fair technician. read more

Although it was not on the website of the shop, I brought in AmazonFire. It was a very loving item. Of course, the shop assistant gave me advice in advance that the person who bought the new thing is cheaper than the repair or the same amount as the repair. Still I wanted repair. He accepted it pleasantly. In fact, Palatine 's other repair shop refused to accept Amazon. I think it means low skill. Although there may be difficult cases, we recommend that you consult SMARTFix in advance. It will help you make your IT life better. read more

Very friendly and helpful. I brought in a water damaged phone where the touch screen wasn't working (the display was on though). They opened it, cleaned it and checked all the connections for a reasonable price. They were going to replace the screen and digitizer, but the phone started working again by the time the ordered part arrived. (I assume some water evaporated). They only charged me for the inspection fee, which was great. I will definitely give them any future business that I hopefully won't have! read more
