2 weeks ago I took my daughter's ipad to replace cracked screen. Battery was holding the charge for a long time before I went to this place. They were more expensive then the other places, but replaced the screen the same day. When I gave them my iPad, the battery was at 90%. 3 hours later I picked up my iPad with replaced screen but battery was at 11%. Did not make the deal out of it first. I came home, put it on charge to a 100%. 10 minutes later the batter dropped to 15%. 1 week later it is not even charging, and I can't turn it on. Called them to talk, they started accusing me that i am trying to get a new battery and telling my to stop calling him. This place is awful. I was looking for a place to get my sons iPad repaired and saw the sign from Lake Cook Road. While waiting in the car on a Saturday morning in front of the store 30 minutes before it opened, the owner blew his horn at my son and I. He told us that the lot in front of the store is not a parking lot. I told him that we had seen his sign from the road and pulled into the lot to see if they were open. He asked me what I wanted from him. I told him I was a customer waiting for the store to open and deserved an apology. It took them 2 months to return my iPad to me. I took it in only to repair a cracked screen. They charged a $170. After calling and calling I finally demanded my iPad back (everytime I stopped in the sign said open but they were closed). When I got it, the Bluetooth did not work (they left a metal plate out so the Bluetooth plug kept undoing itself} And, the start button was not working properly because they trapped the wire in the cover. They didn't seal the screen properly and I wedged it open myself and found Bluetooth wire unplugged, metal plate and screws missing and bent start button harness. YouTube or Google how to repair your own ipad or cracked screen for your phone. It only cost $30 for the part. It is very easy to do yourself. Do not waste your money on these guys. I am sorry that they went through a tragedy as the owner said when I went in asking for some recourse. But he denied what I was telling him and never once apologized. Besides rarely picking up the phone, nor returning expected calls, he misdiagnosed the issue of my PC twice. I waited almost a week and wasted $35 on a misdiagnosis. He came to the conclusion that my CPU and motherboard needed to be replaced; however, it was actually an issue within the power supply. It didn't even cross his mind that it could've been the power supply at fault until I asked him. And even then, when he ran a test to check the power supply, he claimed it "passed the test." Imagine how much money I would've wasted if I followed through with the false information he provided that it was my CPU and motherboard that needed replacement. This place is a joke! If I could give 0 stars I would. Don't believe the good reviews they are all fake! I brought my Macbook Pro in to diagnose a boot up problem. All they did was waste my time and give me excuses for 2 days straight. They charge a $50 diagnostic fee upfront before even looking at the equipment. Proper diagnostic equipment is not available, they are unprepared, understaffed, and communicate poorly with customers. They were supposed to refund the diagnostic fee when I picked up the dead machine and never did. I had to file a dispute with my credit card company to get my money back! Beware! This place is horrible. I suppose it should have been a red flag that it is inside a dry cleaners, but I went anyway since it is less than a mile from my house. I took my ipad in for a cracked screen. When I got it back, it was fine for a day before the screen popped out of place. I took it back again and once again it was fine briefly. I took it back again and told them it was the last time I would be back there, before I expected my money back. Once again the screen popped out, but also they caused a new problem. The screen now clicks randomly and is unusable. I went in to inform them I wanted my money back, and the guy didn't remember me. He didn't apologize, and he suggested I should just get my repairs done elsewhere. I did get a refund, but his attitude was extra terrible, given the fact I had allowed them three tries at repairing a very simple problem. There was no effort at customer service at all. I should also mention that every time I took my ipad in to be fixed, it took them at least a day longer than they said it would. TLDNR VERSION: DO NOT GO HERE! I had a really terrible experience with this "repair" shop. Brought in my Mac which was running really slow and thought it may have been hacked. The gentleman I talked to lead me to believe he'd look at right away. That didn't happen. I had to cajole him to look at it promptly and he was very evasive about giving me a time when I could expect to get it back. I was just looking for a ballpark idea. Long story short, he was definitely not customer service friendly. He never told me what he found wrong or what he did. On top of that, he removed my Microsoft Office software and songs I bought on iTunes, neither of which I requested. And, he asked for payment in cash. I thought that was a bit strange. I wish I could give this place zero stars, but Yelp won't allow it. I should have listened to the other reviewer, but against my better judgment I gave this place a try after my Samsung Galaxy S4's LCD broke. Other repair shops quoted $250+ for the repair but this one quoted $150. I guess the low price should have been the second red flag. First red flag - this place is operated out of a dry cleaners. It took about a week to get it fixed, which was fine since it was right around Christmas. When I got the phone back, it functioned fine for about 24 hours and then the screen started to flash and then completely stopped working. I brought the phone back to this place and the guy said the screen is cracked and the warranty does not apply because it's physical damage. My husband and I explained that the phone had not been dropped or mistreated in the mere 24 hours we had the "repaired" phone. We insisted that he must have used a faulty part or did a poor job with the repair. As the other reviewer mentioned, no attempt at customer service was made. He was unapologetic and only offered to repair the phone again at full cost. At least he could have offered to do it for a discount, although I wouldn't have taken him up on the offer since his work is no good. We argued back and forth for a bit and he basically called us liars and then proceeded to tell the next person in line that he "will help them now" - pushing us aside in the middle of our conversation. I was out $150 and a working phone. At least he gave the last reviewer his money back. I wasn't going to just let this go, so I filed a complaint with the Business Consumer Alliance. The "business" (I say "business" because it is just the one guy fixing stuff when he has a break from running the dry cleaning) never responded to the complaint. This guy obviously is just looking for a quick buck and is not interested in pleasing customers. Even the most inexperienced business owner should know to try to please the customers if only to avoid a negative review online. Well now this guy has 2 awful reviews on Yelp and one blatantly fake review on Google. I filed a charge dispute with my credit card company and they have temporarily refunded my money while they attempt to work it out with the "business." But I know the "business" won't respond so the refund will be permanent. At least I have a credit card company that values their customers. As for my broken phone, I took it to a legitimate repair shop and they confirmed that the original repair was done poorly and had used a non-recommended technique that involved prying apart the screen from the frame, inflicting stress upon the LCD, causing it to break. I am surprised how they are in business. Dropped off a iPad mini 3 two days ago (all it requires was a new screen) and it was supposed to be ready by noon on a Saturday. I tried calling just to make sure it is ready before I drove all the way in. Tried calling 4 times with no response. Finally when the call was answered, the technician apologized and said he needed another hour. I was at the repair store an hour and 20 mins later (4:00 pm)and was then asked to give another 15 mins. My laptop needed a new battery a couple years ago. Apple considered it "obsolete" and couldn't help me. Smart Tech was able to locate a battery and install it, saving me from having to buy a new computer. Thank you! A couple weeks ago, the same laptop totally died. Again, Apple couldn't help me. The guys at Smart Tech were able to find a new logic board, again saving me from having to replace the laptop.
