We had a late afternoon dinner here while passing through the Needham area coming from the Milton area. It was very fresh and delicious. Will come here again next time we are passing through the area. It's very easy on and off the highway exit. Everything on the menu sounded so good and it was hard to make a decision on what to get when I arrived. This spot would be great for someone with dietary restrictions since there were a lot of dairy free cheeses and plant based proteins. They have a great online ordering system. Dang!! What a great lunch and equally awesome crew that was working today. We were kindly welcomed.... I so wish I could remember the managers name. He was so helpful explaining about the restaurant and ordering options. I ordered a chicken Ceasar salad with plenty to bring home. Some times I like my salad swimming in dressing, other times not so much and love that they ask if you want lite or heavy dressing. I ate that salad and would have bet I was having it fresh from my Grandmother's garden. The floors and the tables were clean and plentiful, not tacky the way a lot of tables seem lately. Today was a beautiful day so we sat outside. Nice tables and umbrellas provided. Unfortunately the balsamic dressing was a bit too overpowering - I asked for "light", but next time I might just ask for a tiny splash. I have been wanting to try this place for awhile. We stopped for lunch on a weekday and really enjoyed it! It was clean and bright inside and the menu was easy to navigate. The woman who helped us with our salads couldn't have been nicer. I had the winter harvest salad and my partner had the Thai chicken peanut salad. Everything was super fresh and I loved how you can customize the salads to your liking. It was $30 for lunch but the portion was large and we thought it was worth what we paid. The food is fine, but the service is horrendous. Forty minutes to get one wrap and one salad. We ordered online and were given an estimated time of 20 minutes. We had bad experiences in the past so I gave it 30 minutes. When I arrived, and gave the woman there the name on the order, she walked off and looked at the order on the board. I thought she was going to hand the finished order to me. No, she and the other woman behind the counter took orders from 4 other people. Then when done, the first woman whispered something to the second woman and walked off into the kitchen. The second woman finally finished my order, which had just been sitting on the counter already 75% complete. Why didn't they just finish my order before I got there and put it on the shelf with the other takeout orders before taking new orders? So incompetent. This place has been open for a couple of months now, and I've heard some pretty bad stories. Had to see it with my own eyes. The menu is really nice, and we need healthier choices... Great logo, the building looks good, it's pretty inside, lot of employees who are of color with no clue, but friendly. Went to the wrong place to order, there are no instructions for that. When I finally got to the right person, there were three people, which one to order to? None of them speak any English, they did not understand my order, try to tell me what was on the menu. They gave me the wrong soup, this place does not have their act together. If you don't speak English, you can't be in a retail business that is client faced. The soup was too salty, too spicy, and tasted like minestrone soup, not kale and sweet potato at all. It would be good if it had half as much salt, half as much spice and half as much tomato. Had a great experience at Needham Just Salads. The salad ingredients were really fresh. The romaine lettuce, in particular, seemed fresher than on previous occasions. And I loved the new braised chicken on the Winter Harvest Salad. Very flavorful and moist. A big part of why I continue to go to this location and not the new one is because of the manager--Sol. Always smiling, remembering me and asking if I want "the usual", even after I haven't been there in awhile! She does her job so well and really aims to give personalized service. So rare these days in places like this. Today I tried something new (substituting romaine for mixed greens) and REALLY liked it. So did my dining companion. Very friendly staff for online customer service and store staff was nice too. They gave me credit for future use to make up for some of the issues. However lots of things could improve. We ordered delivery and the JS app said it would be ready in 20-35 minutes. I called in 40 minutes because order was still "in progress". Turns out it was ready but the delivery order didn't go through to the delivery service. It would have been really good if the central staff and the store staff would get alerted and proactively call me. I went and picked up the order, and when I got home I was missing my large soup, and one of our salads had the wrong dressing. Also despite having a spot for entering a "name tag" none of our salads were labeled. In summary, I think this is a great option for a healthy meal on the go, and we'll definitely be coming back here as a treat. My wife & I went here during a Sunday dinnertime. I got a Chipotle Cowboy, a vegan option with Beyond Chicken. The portion size was fine and I was normal-full when I was done - it might appear small to an American audience, but I think that's part of the healthiness of this place that it keeps the portions more normal. I really enjoyed the freshness of the ingredients and the complimentary flavors. We cook a lot for ourselves so sometimes it's hard to go out to eat for fear that the food won't taste very good. If the dish I got is a good sample, I think they've done a great job with the recipes here. I think the price is commensurate to the higher prices of meals everywhere right now, so felt fair. Also got a smoothie, which was tasty and fun. They have Sesame Street tie-in bowls you can bring back to reuse to get you an extra ingredient right now, which is a lovely added feature. I would definitely bring kids here because I feel confident of the healthy food and portion control to teach them good eating habits. The staff were friendly and patient. I think patience is essential for this role when you're helping people understand what their options are, and they did a great job. Everyone spoke English with an accent and I had no trouble understanding them at all - didn't even think of writing this except for another review I read. The restaurant was standard casual/fast food setup, clean and spacious, and the bathrooms were completely clean. They had parking. Hours were limited but that's fine for Needham IMHO. I'm surprised to see so many negative reviews. They were opened for a few weeks and at this point I tried many things on the menu. Every salad and bowl I had were absolutely delicious. My favorites were Peruvian chicken bowl, fajita chicken bowl, crispy chicken poblano. I loved the Tokyo supergreens but got chicken instead of tofu. I prefer this place to Sweetgreen - a lot more options, including wraps and soups. What I also love about this place that it does't feel like just a takeout. Nope. We had one sub par experience here with an in person order. Got the wrong soup and once corrected, mediocre results overall. We contacted the company directly instead of doing a negative review. They were very nice, said someone would call us to get more information, that was 3 weeks ago and no one has been in touch. They also gave us a $15 gc to try again. So, I did an online order for a 3:40pm pick up today. No customers were in the store and my order was the only one on the shelf. When I got home, I noticed that instead of brown rice, which is what is listed in this bowl, I was given quinoa. How do they not know the difference? The second thing I noticed was how much smaller/shallower these bowls are compared to Sweetgreen, Life Alive and Cava. Same price point, so much smaller. When I picked it up, the young man at the counter said "Be careful, it's not closed all the way since it's pretty full" Nice that they filled the bowl, but stupid when it's take out to not have it be sealed. There seems to be no employees there that are thinking. I guess not so different than most places these days. Sweetgreen, Live Alive and Cava are pretty great, I will stick with them. Just days after I last left a review we ordered salads for dinner again. Again, we added labels so we would know who gets each salad. We order similar salads, so when they come back to us again, with no label or name on the lid, we have to start digging through them to figure out who gets each salad. What is the point of having a field to add a label and then they never get used??? In addition, three of the main ingredients of my salad, including the chicken, were missing. I didn't want to post another review of complaints - so I called the restaurant to tell the manager so they would know. And guess what - I had to go through a call center to even get to the restaurant, and then when I finally did - no manager on the weekends. At all. I told the girl answering the phone, and she didn't seem to care. I know these are first world problems, and the salads are still good - but when life is frustrating enough, it would be nice if these simple things like ordering a salad, could be done without problems. read more

If I were to combine the 2 bowls together they would equal the portion of 1 single bowl at sweet green......The bowl was tiny, I was very surprised by the portion for 13.99, but I was even more disappointed by the quality and the taste. To start they were missing two items that were in the bowl (sweet potatoes and braised chicken thigh) so I opted for edamame and their seasoned chicken breast. The "warm" bowl was served ice cold and it was bland even with their homemade dressing. The service was also horrible, It took almost 45 minutes to get my two bowls and they were not busy at least there weren't many customers coming in from what I could see. We went on Saturday a little before noon and it was quite slow, a lot of folks waiting excessive periods of time for takeout orders. Not quick eating in store either. Service was terrible! Workers were unable to communicate with customers I don't think English is their native language. They were unknowledgeable of their menu. Took them 3 times to make my order and it was still wrong. The portion on the "bowls" are extremely small meant more for young children than adults. When I finally got through to customer service the salads were made and they would only make them for the next day if I paid an additional 50% upcharge. I go there once a week. I have been here a few times since it has opened. It is good. But I have yet to actually receive a salad that has everything in it that I ordered. It is always missing things. Today I ordered double chicken in my salad and I counted 6 pieces of chicken. I do not think that is a single serving, yet alone double. You're charging me for double, give an actual serving x2. With things being like they are right now, customers do not want to feel as though they are being cheated and taken advantage of when they work hard for their money. We are hoping they make it and are rooting for them but after reading the reviews of their other locations around the country, we don't hold much hope. We thought it was 'new location blues' but it appears that for years the complaints we have with this place have existed elsewhere and they are not taking heed. We have always eaten in but we sit there watching customer after customer come in and wait 10 - 15 minutes for their take-out they ordered ahead of time! We calculated it's actually faster to come in and get in line and order the take out in person! The trick is to come in at the beginning of the dinner or lunch hour so you are first or second in line and just order in person, we kid you not. Unfortunately, it started out rather clean but no longer. We were first for dinner (5 pm), not a customer in the place (except for the online orders they were preparing) and the floor had not been swept from what must have been the lunch mess and that was just the dining area. I saw behind the counter and it was beyond disgusting with a major spill right behind the cash register with a receipt soaking in it. Who knows how long that was there. We adore some of the menu items and really want this place to make it but we doubt it will last. Be warned some of the items are rather spicy for a neighborhood that leans away from spicy food as evidenced by the restaurant choices in the area. Some items are great but we see too many people walking out disgusted with the wait or throwing their food out without finishing, while others are thrilled so perhaps it's just inconsistent quality. read more
