We were just there. When original owners were there we were among their first customers, and we went every Sunday morning for years. Emphasis was on coffee, but there was great enthusiasm shown when new made-from-scratch food items were introduced: waffles, Ian's egg and tuna salad, etc. We were there the morning old owners left and new ones were there. New owners ruined everything: Coffee changed for the worse, electric, constantly-changing- before-your- eyes menus, disgusting looking floors, counter open underneath with cords hanging out, stale pastry, flat screen TV (!). Character completely gone. Electric sign says bagel with cream cheese is $3.25, while framed printed menu perched on floor says bagel with cream cheese and sliced tomato is $6.25, with no accompaniment. Really, $3.00 for a slice of tomato? We are gone for good. Boo-hoo! read more

The nearest Starbucks is always packed so I decided to check out this coffee shop and got my usual iced americano with the sugar free caramel syrup they offered. My friend got a blended vanilla caramel drink and it was nice and sweet. My drink was delicious as well, the girls up front admitted they accidentally added an extra shot of espresso lol and I had no problem with that. If I could give them 1 star I would. The barista was using her fingers to pour out the rest of the blended drink with her fingers onto the cup for a to go order. When we came to the driveway, the young cashier was rude and snappy demeanor. I ordered soy and a extra shot with each drink and did not get soy and probably not the extra shot either. The chai latte taste like watered down tea with sugar. Both coffee's taste worse than a bad pot of watered down bitter coffee you find at a gas station. Just wanted to post a long overdue update. We used to love this place but they had changed owners a couple of years ago. The cold brew which I used to love is now one of the worst things to get here. It tastes like water or a bland iced coffee. It lacks the denseness and high caffeine taste that a proper cold brew should provide. Their bagels and cali's are really good. I've been a customer at Just Java for 8+ years. I will no longer support this business due to the most recent experiences. The new owner of the shop has displayed poor customer service skills time after time. On several occasions, she has failed to even greet me as customer when I visit the shop. Today, I visited the shop and ordered my usual drink (x3): -3 iced espresso shots -add white chocolate -add light cream A drink that typically costs me no more than $4 at any coffee shop, cost me $6.05 at Just Java. I've worked in the coffee business long enough to know what I should've been charged. As I waited for my drinks to be brought out, I reviewed my receipt and noticed I had been over charged. I mentioned to the young lady that I had been over charged considering I've never paid that much for my drink. The owner of the shop then walked out and proceeded to tell me she had charged me correctly. I mentioned that the drinks had been made wrong (with whip cream) and she proceeded to argue with me and say I had asked for it. She was careless and unapologetic about the whole situation. She made it seem as simple as 'you got what you got and I charged you right.' At the end of the day, it's not so much about the charge, it's about the poor customer service skills from Just Java's new ownership. I really enjoyed coming here for my coffee. It was great and affordable. Most of the employees are friendly and one girl always knows my drink order- that was nice. I usually don't order food but today I was feeling an açaí bowl. I asked for a "drizzle of peanut butter on the top" I was in the drive thru so took it Togo. Once I got home I tried it and it was awful. It had Almost only peanut butter and no acai. I scooped out probably about a pound of it. I drove back because I wasn't happy or satisfied. I showed them the cup of peanut butter I scooped out. The girl said "well you didn't specify how much you wanted. That's how it's made". NO APOLOGY. They didn't offer to remake it. The owner was standing there the entire time and didn't say a word to me or about it. The girl said well this is what I can give you. I've worked in a coffee shop and food industry before. This is just unacceptable and disappointing. I will not return. So if you are ordering food be SPECIFIC and double check the order before you leave. See pictures. read more

It seems like an establishment that doesn't place high value on that hipster styled ambiance. Friendly customer service, and one of my favorite and convenient coffee spots every time I come to visit Palm Desert! Love that you can drive-thru AND the staff is mindful of wearing a mask and other cleanliness procedures. I have not tried their food, but love their iced chai lattes and iced white chocolate mochas, with almond milk. I appreciate that they have ALL the alternative milk options available for us vegans out there. The treat they offered for our dog was a sweet touch. :) I will continue to come here, and much prefer it to Starbucks. read more

Quiet possibly the best chai latte in Southern California is served here in a two-store coffee house chain in the Coachella Valley. I was surprised starting from the first sip when the minty, but unmistakably chai, hit not only the tastebuds but my nose as well. In contrast to the many chais I've tried, this pleasant taste with a kick is good to the last drop. There is no hint of the chocolatey-taste that Coffee Bean's chai lattes have or is it anything like the sugary dairy-based confection commonly known as Starbucks Crack, I mean, Chai Tea Latte. Just Java makes theirs more...sophisticated. It goes down clean without the clumps of chai powder or the gunk that is left at the bottom of the cup. I can't say enough how delightful the chai latte here is. Just Java is located at a shopping center on that shopping center clusterfuck that is the city of La Quinta (You have to be a planner to be amazed how a city with as many people as UCLA has students turned every major intersection into a shopping center). The interior is hum-drum, a darker version of Coffee Bean's wood-laden interiors. This place is busy enough though to have its own drive-thru. Not at all hip of a place, just a place for people who need hip-replacement, though the service is friendly. read more

Disappointing, and unsafe. I went to this place 3 days in a row and everyday there would be someone not following the mask policy. The guy in the photo was leaning over the counter and talking to the barista, possibly his daughter, contaminating everything. This seems like a nice small family business, so I'm sure their hands are full, but with an elderly population being how it is here in Palm Desert I would expect more. I have been in this establishment quite a bit , it's usually hit and miss . Sometimes their attitudes Prelude the food , sometimes you can just sit and wait or stand by the counter and wait to order and you're ignored . On the whole I have not had a great experience there . But I always like to patronize local small businesses . So instead of going to Starbucks I was going there for a bit . This afternoon my 18 year old daughter and her girlfriend decided to stop in for a juice and a bite to eat . They immediately had the juice they sat down and decided what they wanted to order . It was exactly 3:45. The owner came over to my daughter and her girlfriend and said we are closed you need to leave . They physically or she physically took the chair out from under my daughter . And as my daughter was leaving she sarcastically said to my daughter bye-bye and don't come back . That was supposed to be the owner because when she went to my daughter she said I'm the owner we are closing you didn't order anything to eat you just had a drink .. obviously that is no way to run a business and when I called her just a few minutes ago to complain about the way my daughter was treated , she was as nasty as could be , she cursed at me for even bothering to call her and then she hung up on me . So now I go back to Starbucks where there's always a friendly face you can order a coffee and relax for as long as you want and no one will throw you out because they're in a bad mood . I do not recommend this place last time I was there I went into the restroom and it was filthy when I said something to the girl she just looked at me and rolled her eyes . This place is in a transition and the new owners have done a very good job catering to the established clientele As well as new customers. It's the snowbird season and they have managed to keep the place open and up and running during the remolding. The new owners are making huge strides to be open longer and more convenient hours for the locals too. Their new food items are SO good. They have brought in more chairs. Which are scattered about, lacks attention to detail. New owners don't have any allegiance to customers.
