Another Panera location today, this time in La Quinta. I really like Panera, some healthier options and a nice place to relax or work. Was working in the area, took advantage of my Sip Club membership to get a nice cold drink. I highly recommend you joining the Sip Club, well worth the money to get unlimited drinks every two hours everyday. I travel a lot, so it is excellent for me. This location is right off highway 111, large parking lot, patio seating as well as a large amount of indoor seating. This locations looks new, inside is a new concept from almost any other Panera I have been to. The decor is similar, but this locations looks new is a wide open space, nothing breaking it up, which I like how open and airy it is. Very clean inside and lots of employees ready to help with your order. You can use the app, which I always do and recommend or you can order at the counter or on the kiosks inside. Amazing lunch and service! I stopped in today for lunch after moving to La Quinta recently-- I hadn't been to a Panera in years. Was I wrong! I had their cream of chicken and wild rice soup-- it was a 10. I had a half sandwich of turkey and cheddar on sour dough and it was delicious!! I was warmly greeted by Manager Tony who advised me on the menu and was so customer focused and friendly. Between Tony's professional demeanor and the awesome food-- this place deserves a 10 Star rating if it were possible. I found a go to place this winter for soup and incredible Chili( Tony offered me a sample of the Chili-- without me asking-- that's called customer service! I waited over 8 mins at the drive thru, so I ended up submitting an online order and pulling through. The worker opened the window and asked my name. She saw I just submitted it and I told her I knew it wasn't going to be ready right away and figured I would wait at the window (no one else was in line). She then tells me to park in spot 1 or 2 while sounding annoyed, which were already full - so I told her and she just walked away. She then asked me to park in front of the building. I've been eating at Panera bread for many years and it's always been consistently on point and accurate. Upon arriving home after placing a large drive thru order one of our salad entrees was an incorrect and without the chicken we asked and paid for. I called and spoke with Kevin who ensured me I would be comp'd for the incorrect salad and taken care of the next time I came in and gave only my name...I was skeptical. However two weeks later I returned and spoke with Manager Tony at the counter and he was patient, kind and respectful. He made no excuses and quickly and efficiently took care of my entire order. Food always good. Service horrible 45 min wait but they don't even say it nicely. Ordered with door dash drove to the window and the poor girl had no clue. The boss lady said it's at least 45 mins. Took myself and got a drink and the rude girl said "you know it's 45 mins. " I said I know. Decided to order the strawberry salad. I ordered online which is always convenient. This was my first time walking into the new location and it looks very nice. I walked toward the rapid pick up since I had a notification that my order was ready. My order was not on the rapid pick up shelf. I had to ask & it was sitting on the window with a baguette just tossed on top & the bag wide open. I get home & open the salad. Not one strawberry in site, I kid you not. It is after all called a strawberry salad, I don't understand why employees won't contact you to let you know that they are in fact out of strawberries if that was the case to see if you would like to order something else. I rarely take the time to do this. We are daily customers and the quality of service and food is unbelievably disappointing! We purchased a dozen macaroons and they double charged our account so we paid $40 instead of $20. They told us sorry you probably did get double charged? Where is the Customer Service! Then the cookie wasn't even dipped in chocolate at the bottom so when they took them back to do it they didn't let it set so they put them in a box. They're rolling around chocolate all over the box. How am I supposed to bring this to an event!! Poor Customer Service, poor quality, bakery, food, and poor management! The manager should have apologized and given us another dozen and taken off the double charge on our account! I just tried to call and asked for the general manager. Look mistakes happen, and when they do the key word is accountability. Just own it and make it right. My boyfriend and I came in on Sunday early evening around 5:08pm and ordered a Caprese sandwich. The cashier was super sweet and gave us a pager as we were dining in. We chose to dine in the patio and sat outside at a table. We waited for some time and our pager never went off. It wasn't until I noticed people that had come in go right back out that I got up to go inside and see what was going on. I walked up to the counter where food is expedited and asked if I could get a status of our order because we had been waiting out on the patio and the pager never went off. The female expediting the orders who was not polite AT ALL asked me what number was my pager then asked me my name. I told her my name and she proceeded to let me know she had been calling my name and no one answered so she gave the order away. I again, with the pager in my hand, said we have been waiting outside on the patio for the pager to go off. After letting me know again that she called my name she then asked me if I ordered through the app and I said no I ordered through the cashier and I showed her the pager we were given again. At this point a guy walks up trying to justify what happened and said we just have to make it real quick. Meanwhile the rude lady walks to the cashier and tells her she needs to assign the pager number to the orders. In my opinion that was out of line. You don't chastise a team member in customer/guest view. Now our sandwich was thrown together and I asked the gentleman if it had extra basil like I ordered, another guy wearing glasses comes up saying the order said no basil. I stated I never said I didn't want basil. He proceeded to tell me what the order said. Now I'm frustrated because am I really standing here going back and forth with you about chopped basil. The gentleman that said they just had to remake our sandwich handed me a cup of basil. The sad part about all of this is that no one apologized or tried to make it right. Didn't even offer a beverage. No one took accountability. I look at it this way, you're calling a name and no one responds. When do you think to see if anyone is on the patio or to ask the cashier about the order. The customer comes in and shows you a pager and inquires about their order because they've been sitting outside for over 15 minutes. When do you apologize and show empathy. This was by far the worst service I've ever received at a Panera Bread and it was clear no one cared. They still kept my money though. I've been coming here since it open on the other side of Adams. It's changed so much and customer service has declined. I have other stories but today was the tipping point. From the unfriendly, borderline rude girl at the window, to asking for extra onion on my sandwich and being told no (was a value meal) to being asked to park (guy that brought my food was friendly and polite) and then discovering I have no spoon for my soup and having to drive back through to ask for one while the girl silently handed it to me without a word. I always like Panera Bread especially when they have locations popping up in the middle of no where like Palm Springs area, specifically La Quinta, it's very hot out here, and to have a Panera Bread is such ideal. That's why they were very clean, layback, and organized from inside out. They have plenty seats, their staffs always going around to check on customers and clean up tables. They have a lot of outlet charging for your phone, I never seen this many of them. For some reasons, the table where I sat had a big mess of food on the ground I didn't notice so I stepped on it and almost slipped, but I quickly reacted and cleaned up everything for them. Just went to the new Panera in La Quinta this Sunday morning around 10:15am.. The new restaurant is very physically appealing and I was pleased to see they had a drive thru.. My order was a Bakers dozen of Everything Bagels, a Tub of Cream Cheese, a bag of Mini Scones, 2 Cheese, Bacon & Spinach Soufflés, a Large Iced Scone and a Cherry Danish. My Critique: -The counter person did not have a smile and was curt...She kept me waiting for "quite a while" after she finished the order to have the bagels sliced as she waited on several customers after I had paid before she did that... I don't understand why?? Don't you finish the person at the counter's order first? -It was Sunday morning, and there was no other register open, which I couldn't understand when there were other people working there and some standing around and there were other customers waiting? As for the food: -The Bagels did not have enough topping. Why? It was very scant! The bagels were not cooked enough and were not as crusty as they should have been... -The Soufflés were delish but had hardly any spinach or bacon inside? I might as well have just ordered all cheese. -The Cherry Danish "left a lot to be desired." It was hard not flakey and dry like it was baked the day before! Where was the butter? A real disappointment! -The Scone was tasty and had a nice amount of orange flavor.. Corporate should assess this venue and make it better.. the original Paneras were better!! The Turkey club sandwich had 2 pieces of deli turkey and 2 of the smallest pieces of bacon I have ever seen. The tuna was good but the sourdough bread was hard as a rock. Couldn't even eat the crust. I park, go inside, give them my number, and I am treated politely and with respect. I get my drink, and I leave happy. I am given gift cards for birthdays and special occasions because I loved my Panera in Riverside. Without exception I have been disappointed at every visit with the quality of the food in the LaQuinta franchise. Last night I bought a Napa chicken salad sandwich on sourdough. There was enough arugula for 4 sandwiches and less than a tablespoon of chicken on either side of the sandwich. If this had been the only time I would let it pass. Unfortunately every other time I have gone in the last year I have been deeply disappointed and will not be get past it. I have asked my family to not give me gift cards for Panera anymore.
