Our family of 4 went with a family of 3 and there was plenty of seating to sit comfortably together. We were able to order dishes to share together which made the experience really family friendly. The kids loved the steamed dumplings and the baos, plus the steamed and fried rice. The adults enjoyed the roasted duck, bbq pork fried rice, tofu dish, satay beef, and string beans. There was plenty of food and some leftovers. Everything was good. Flavors were more on the plain side but this was perfect for the kids so it worked out for us. MENU: Excellent choices, mostly common American Chinese choices, easy to understand. Easy online ordering on Yelp. FOOD PREP: Well done for sure, even for take out. FOOD QUALITY: If looks equaled taste then it would be better than good. But on our takeout order the food was tasteless, very, no extremely dry crispy chicken, egg foo young looked terrible and also had zero flavor, egg rolls had good texture but again no taste aside from dipping sauce which you had to pay for. We did not eat any of the $20 Crispy Chicken so disappointing. WAITSTAFF: Nice enough, seemed happy to greet and serve customers. OVERALL VALUE: Terrible, $55 for take out, two items and egg rolls. If the food was the best around well then I'd say you get what you pay for but I am sorry to say this was not the case. This was our second visit, maybe our last for takeout as other options provide way better taste and a lower cost. First time eating here as we are visiting Palm Springs, CA from Texas. Easy to find location with ample parking lot. Even though prices seem to be higher than what I usually see in Texas (maybe because this is a close-to-many-resorts area), the food is very tasty and in bigger-than-normal portion. Very happy we found this Palm Tree Palace because my mom and I are happily full after enjoying fresh and delicious salt & pepper fish and Hong Kong Pork BBQ rice. We ended up ordering 3 more dishes to-go for my son and nephews. Their service is quick and friendly. They have gen packed the leftover food for us. It's rare to see such service nowadays. Clean and bright room makes eating here enjoyable. Not packed/crowded with tables/chairs, so we ate in an enjoyable environment. We will surely be back next time we're in the area. read more

Would give this place negative stars if I could... We ordered: Mongolian beef Sweet & sour chicken Fried rice Soup dumplings Pan fried dumplings Got the dumplings first. The soup ones were coagulated and had weird pink gummy goop in them. And were obviously made in a microwave. The server even said "you didn't like those" and proceeded to still charge us for them The pan fried ones were fine. No problems. Mongolian beef was tender and juicy. Would definitely recommend. The fried rice didn't come until we were done eating. Done. They blamed it on being "so busy" - but there are 3 tables seated the entire time we were here. We were still charged for it. Huh? Fine whatever. The kicker for me though, THEY HAVE SOFT SHELL TURTLES for eating. Which, if I'm not wrong, is illegal in the U.S. They have a sign on the tank that says "decoration" which is utter BS considering they have no habitat or anything. We had an early dinner, and it was very disappointed. Having had a previous experience at this restaurant, which was fairly good, this time it didn't meet our expectations even close. The curry chicken sauce was thick and almost uneatable and had an after taste. When it came to the table it looked like it was warmed up by a microwave. Recently came back to this spot for a New Year's Eve dinner as I had always loved this restaurant for when I was craving Chinese food in the desert. However, sad to report that I had to bring them down a star as our last experience wasn't the best. 4 stars is still relatively good but I noticed some changes in their billing practices and food quality. On a positive note the service is still friendly when dining in. The different staff that waited on us were nice and attentive. No issues with getting a table on New Year's Eve and we appreciated that they were open a little bit later then some of our other go to spots. Also some dishes were still pretty good. Their fried rice was flavorful and the beef and broccoli was pretty dang good. There were some dishes though that really weren't that great. A big reason why I brought a star down. When ordering 5 dishes, maybe one wouldn't be amazing but 3 out of the 5 weren't great. Not good odds. The orange chicken lacked crunch and a good orange zesty flavor. The shrimp with black bean sauce was bland and the dumplings were forgettable. Another huge reason we docked them a star is like other reviewers noted, they are charging an 18% automatic gratuity and aren't transparent about it. I understand businesses wanting to ensure amble tips for their staff but honestly just pay your employees more. It's expensive enough to eat out as it is and the added fee regardless of how good the food or service is can be a little frustrating. But honestly, more so than being charged the automatic extra is just the lack of transparency. Normally at other restaurants either 1. They make note of this on the menu, 2. The staff inform you or 3. It's super clear on the receipt. We found the gratuity was only noted on a back itemized receipt but not on the front side where you leave tip and sign. We only caught it because we were surprised the bill was so high, the extra 18% made the bill almost $20 more. We weren't happy and after not loving the food this trip we left uncertain of when we'd be back. Maybe I should have given them 3 or less stars but I want to hope maybe with some feedback they'll reconsider their policy or at least be more forthcoming on the upcharge. I also have had a lot of great meals here and takeout orders so I want to assume maybe they had a rough night and didn't make every dish as they normally would, because I've had better here. Able to introduce my friends to dumplings and noises for Chinese NY then they chose kung pao chicken and moo shu pork which we wouldn't have selected but were excellent. This was my favorite Chinese restaurant till yesterday. I grew up in NYC worked in the Wall Street area with lots of Asians. We walked to Chinatown at least once a week. This restaurant served dishes that I could only get in Chinatown. Yesterday, I went with 2 friends that had never been there. I had always bragged about it. I ordered the Filet Mignon French Style, Chicken with Asparagus, & Sautéed String Beans for the table. The Chicken & Asparagus came out first. There must have been a half pound of Asparagus and a few pieces of chicken that didn't amount to a chicken tender. The Filet came out with the meat cut in very small pieces like they would be feeding a child. The String Bean dish was huge and very good. When I complained about the small amount t of meat on both dishes I was told that the cost of meat was very high. So are their prices but they used to give you a portion that was worth it! I have not decided if I will ever return. Maybe just get lunch specials to go and see how the portions are. read more

We have visited Palm Tree Palace on several occasions, and the food and service has been good. On our first visit, there was an issue with redeeming their Yelp check in offer, which was awkward. Regarding the food, we stick to the Honey Walnut Shrimp, French Style Filet Mignon with Asparagus, and a rotating noodle dish such as Chicken Chow Mein. The taste of each of the dishes above has been consistently very good. This food is not filler; it is high quality and delicious. As a result of the quality, the food is not cheap, but we routinely have leftovers, so it works out. Regarding the service, it has been good. I ordered online & forgot to add hot mustard. When I picked up I asked for hot mustard in person, & offered to pay as I know some restaurants charge. Women at front said very rude " you should have added that when you ordered online" I apologized as I forgot & also did not see that option. I again offered to pay, she aggressively threw 1 hot mustard into my bag, and repeated herself very loudly, scolding me that she is giving it to me this time but next time order it online! I could not believe how awful I was treated over asking for hot mustard, that I was willing to pay for. As for food, it was not great, chicken was dry. If you are looking for good Chinese food go across the street to canton bistro, great food & amazing service. I only tried the Is place because Canton is always very busy, but clearly this place only had two people sitting for a reason. read more

Pricing and menu needs attention by management. Item pricing does not include rice with any of the meals. This is the only Chinese restaurant that does not include rice with your dinner or lunch. So if you want rice, you will pay extra. White rice $3.75 for 1 serving, Brown rice rice $4.25 for 1 serving. Add soup for $5.25 for 1 serving. So order Beef & broccoli $21.95, rice and soup and you're over $30 for 1 person. Recommend adding combination meals to the menu to lower pricing. 1lb of rice makes about 11 servings. The killer thing about my giving them one star is that their food is good - albeit, I have to go by prior experiences. We went for dinner and sat down at 6pm on a Tuesday. At 7:25, they told us it would be at least another 30 minutes. We left and the night was ruined. The management here is just terrible. The waitress's response to "how much longer" was "it's out of my control". Clearly they have a major problem here. Our waitress said that she would take the soup we had off of the check so we could just leave. As we were leaving a different waitress ran after us to tell us we had to pay for our soup that came an hour earlier! Sadly, we won't be giving them another chance. read more
