This place was so bomb, we had to come TWICE in one weekend We were staying out in Indio and craving ramen, so we stopped by ToraKichi on Friday and got the tonkotsu ramen, spice level 2. It was delicious, but definitely not spicy enough for us. So naturally, we had to come back on Sunday on our way home. This time we got level 3 and OMG, PERFECT. Whatever they add to kick up the spice also adds this extra layer of flavor that was SOOO good. We were sitting there with tears and snot running down our faces from the heat while our son was happily living his best life eating his little bowl of ramen. And somehow we loved every second of it. Speaking of our son, he LOVED this place too! He got the kids chicken ramen both times and ate the entire thing. It was super simple with chicken, noodles, corn, etc., and we didn't have to ask them to modify it or make it more kid-friendly. It was already perfect for him. Service was great both times too. Friday we came a little earlier, were seated immediately, and everything came out super fast. Sunday we hit them right at dinner time, so there was a little wait to be seated, but once we sat down, we already knew exactly what we wanted and our food came out quickly. The prices are also really reasonable, especially for how good everything was. Spice recommendation: If you actually LIKE spicy food, get the level 3. Don't let it scare you--it has a kick, but that extra flavor is soooo worth it. If you're not really a spicy person, level 2 is probably perfect. Seriously, five stars. Highly recommend. We went twice during ONE weekend, that should tell you everything. I only wish it were closer to home because I already want it again! read more

The chicken karage was so good! It came out hot, moist and with a good coat of a nice crunch batter top. So yummy! Big pieces, just wish they gave more! I absolutely love this restaurant and when I'm in the Coachella Valley, this is at the top of my list for places to eat. The miso ramen bowls are phenomenal. Rich, savory broth, tender noodles and eggs cooked with absolute precision. My biggest complaint is that chickens don't lay bigger eggs, because I could eat a full pound of those silky masterpieces. The chicken karaage is fried chicken at its peak: crisp, juicy, and seasoned just right. Then there's the spicy edamame, the one dish I order every time without question. I just had the most delicious Tonkotsu Miso Ramen in La Quinta! Craved ramen and found this place situated in a shopping center adjacent to Costco. Only 13 minutes from La Quinta Resort & Club. The place was busy, until I realized there's a bunch of people waiting for the takeaways or phoned in orders. Friendly waitresses asking if it's dine in or takeout. I smiled and said dine in and they got me a table. Did I say it was busy? I came around 7p on a Thursday and it was full of locals. Great energy through the restaurant. I've been to some more popular ramen spots in LA and was surprised by Torakichi. It's not the best but certainly better than some I've had in the city. Pretty darn good and authentic for the desert which I'd say, traditional Asian fare is not as well represented. I got the spicy tonkotsu in the spiciest option. It comes with thin noodles but I requested thick. Noodle texture had a great bite but seemed thin for a thick noodle. The broth was full-flavored and solid. The spiciest option was actually hot and they got the level just right for me while still being enjoyable. Like many other ramen places, you can get a refill of noodles for just $3. I always try to portion out my broth so I can get at least one refill. The noodles come out piping hot so it also heats up the broth left in the bowl. Makes me feel like I'm getting a whole second bowl for just three bucks! read more

When I walked inside, it had a cleaning chemical smell. It made my hunger go away really fast but we had to eat. I got the black garlic one and surprisingly not bad at all. It had way more flavor than the original and miso. My mom don't like the miso much. The kids combo came with fries but watch out for their seasoning, kids might think it spicy. Even though the food is good, the service always isn't. For some reason, they had a boxing match on TV and it was really loud and annoying. We asked them a few times to turn it down and they never did. That, combined with children running down the aisles, did not make for a very relaxing meal to say the least. And even though we asked for our appetizer to be brought before the meal, the server left it sitting there and brought it out all together. It's called an appetizer for a reason. We don't like how they close so early, either. They start packing up the place at 8pm whether it's the weekend or not. It's pretty ridiculous to close so early. We won't rush to go back. read more

Im from out of town, specifically up north. I came down to visit friends and family, to enjoy they're company. Many of them recommend me to visit this place, because they love the food!! So a group of us went, immediately felt uncomfortable, one specific server she had glasses and red hair made us feel like we couldn't even ask for help or order our food. Every time we wanted something we were to nervous to ask the waiter for help. Especially when we noticed she kept rolling her eyes and grunting at other customers who were asking for service. I strongly believe that if you hate your job, it isn't for you and they should not work in customer service. Don't get me wrong the food was AMAZING!!!!! You just have terrible service from that one young lady. Getting upset that people are coming INTO your restaurant to eat and enjoy the food. Torakichi is located off Costco drive in a separate strip mall. It is at the corner and is quiet large. There is plenty of indoor seating. We came for take out on a Thursday night. They were not very busy at all. I ordered my food to be picked up at 5:30p.m. I arrived at 5:27p.m. The food was sitting at the table near the door already. They weren't busy so the lady that was sitting at the register in the car corner of the restaurant helped me with my order which again was sitting at the table by the door. It took me about 15 minutes to get home and eat my food. My chicken black garlic ramen was lukewarm. My noodles were hard. I had to let the soup which was separated warm up and separate the noodles because my first bite of the noodles were hard. After letting it sit, the noodles finally separated and were soft. The soya eggs were good. The soup was good but I think it would've been better hotter. I think if I ate the food there, I would've loved it. My husband got the chicken karaage rice bowl. I got a bite and it was quiet good. Actually, the chicken and rice were warmer than my soup! The spicy mayo that came with it was also good. I wished they had chili for take out though. read more

My son and I went back here for some black ramen which has black garlic in the soup. It was supper yummy. We had pork ramen on a cold rainy day. I liked it much better than the first time I was here about a year ago. Somehow you must give a restaurant two try's because the last three places we went were much better the second time around.
