Came in to get a few rolls since we were craving sushi. We were seated and were met with the young waitress physically throwing the menus at us. Honestly, that was very off-putting and we should've walked out when she did that, but we just wanted to eat. Besides her behavior, the sushi was good. Although the scallop roll I got was a bit fishy so I didn't finish it. My sister later called me at night telling me she got food poisoning and I got a stomach ache. It was most likely the fishy scallop roll. Overall, I wouldn't go again because of the service (she needs to be trained again on how to treat patrons). That really ruined the experience for us. We should of know when we walked in that it wasn't gonna be great. Definitely a pass. There's certainly other better sushi spots around the valley. Our server awkward and, perhaps new, I don't know. But it was so uncomfortable to order. Such a weird experience. We got several rolls to share and they looked gorgeous and delicious!! But 2 or the 4 were fishy, which is not what you want when you order fish. The spicy tuna was really mushy and the chicken teriyaki that we ordered definitely wasn't a teriyaki sauce. Bizarre. Great food, great prices, and food comes quick! We have come many times and every time we get great service and the food arrives super fast! Tonight we arrived on a Monday afternoon around 7pm and we were the only ones in there so the whole staff worked very hard to make us feel comfortable and no more than 5 minutes after we ordered, the sushi started arriving. The sushi was made by craft sushi makers and you can tell and taste it was done with love. My two 27 month old boys made a huge mess, they were throwing their edamame and chopsticks, we cleaned up the majority of it but I know we were an extra kinda table. My wife had yakisoba noodles. The roll and chicken were pretty good. The yaki could have been better. It tasted like chowmein and not a true yakisoba. My family and I hosted a board game night for Mother's Day and takeout from Sawa Sushi was the perfect addition to the evening. We started the night with a number of sharable items, including tempura veggies, gyoza, and edamame. The tempura came out piping hot, yet perfectly crispy. Sawa Sushi is a very affordable sushi restaurant located in a small strip mall. Upon entering, I noticed the interior was basic and contained a small sushi bar. Although the interior what you might expect from a sushi place located in a strip mall, Sawa Sushi brought some bling to their rolls. We ordered the following items: La Quinta Roll (salmon, yellowtail, deep fried crab), Tokyo Roll (deep fried crab, avocado, and spicy tuna on top), White Tiger Roll (spicy tuna, white tuna, and avocado), and a side of shrimp tempura. Each of the rolls were cut into about eight pieces, which was a good value. The presentation of the rolls was excellent; especially the La Quinta Roll where they included a flower and strategically placed sauce on the plate. Regarding the shrimp tempura, it was perfect. I have had my share of tempura over the years, and Sawa's battery was clean, not too thick, and the shrimp size was good. Regarding the service, it was basic but certainly no issues. A small group of apparent regulars entered while we were there, and the servers came alive. Sawa clearly delivered on both price and quality, and we will return. read more
