Broadening my Sushi search from La Quinta to Indio. Dropped in for take-out from Sushi ON. I've driven by it many times, but never noticed it. Although I was getting it to go, Sushi ON is more of an "out to dinner" place. Relaxed atmosphere, quiet, lots of dark wood. I'll definitely eat in next time. Service was quick and friendly. I was there 15 minutes from ordering to getting my food. Everything was pricy, but all sushi is pricy now. This sushi was worth it. Extra large rolls and a huge Beef Teriyaki Bowl. Fish was fresh, the crab in the California Roll was delicious. Beef Teriyaki was wonderfully seared and combined with crispy veggies. Will be back. read more

Did a take out and was happy to see fresh live seafood. The quality of fish is fresh and they have live shrimps . Everything I ordered was great. Probably the best sushi spot in the Indio/LaQuinta area. Very large rolls, so no need to order two to fill you up. I always sit at the bar because the chefs are amazing to watch, and usually humorous to talk with. The menu is extensive, so I'm sure you'll find something to your liking. read more

Today we saved our 19th hole after a game of golf earlier until dinner time to eat here. The four of us were famished. It was worth the wait. We arrived around 6pm tonight Saturday. We given a choice of a booth or a table. We selected a table. BIL was facing three different TV monitors. He was in sports mode. Dinner - * both sis & BIL ordered bento boxes * both hubby & I ordered sushi combo - six nigiri's, six slices sashimi, and eight pieces of California roll. The sashimi is chef's choice. Tonight was salmon & ahi. Both were very fresh. We all enjoyed our dinner choices. Service was very attentive, efficient, and friendly. Parking was plenty in the strip mall. read more

I ordered yellowtail sashimi to be delivered (due to a surgery) this evening and when I bit into it, it was all full of gristle and was still basically frozen! I had ordered other items as well and were delivered fast ...as I don't live very far from the restaurant. The soft shell crab and shrimp tempura was extremely soggy. But the yellowtail was absolutely disgusting! I've never had sushi like that in my life‼ I guess they send their bad pieces/cuts of sashimi to be delivered because you can't send it back! A local friend of ours recently recommended Sushi On for lunch. Several of us met here for lunch. The vibe was great and the sushi was fresh. The girl who served us was very nice and served dish after dish; timing the service of our food perfectly. This is saying alot, since we're a bit picky about our sushi--having had sushi fresh from the local fishermen in Tahiti and Hawaii. To be honest, I was a little skeptical about finding fresh, quality sushi in the desert, but we were pleasantly surprised and impressed! We will definitely be back to Sushi On! read more

Japanese food & sushi is my favorite cuisine...and 99% of the time, everything I've ordered and eaten here was/is perfecto & Fantastico. When I'm not seated at a sushi bar, I prefer a booth when dining out, and Sushi ON has lots of booths to choose from. But Mom & I have our favorite one that we usually sit at. My most recent visit was for Mother's Day lunch with my Mom. She's the one who actually brought me here for the first time 7 years ago...and it's still my & our favorite Japanese restaurant within the desert cities. All Mom wanted for her Mother's Day lunch was their Sashimi Salad, so whatever Mom wants Mom gets. Not only did she enjoy her meal (again) 4 separate team members made a point to wish her "Happy Mother's Day." One of the owners too...and she also went out of her way to insure Mom was a happy diner and received exactly what she wanted. I've brought one of childhood friend's here, that I grew up with in LA. He still lives there but comes out here often to play golf. He enjoyed Sushi ON so much, we've been back a few times together, and his wife and kids also love their food. As does my wife too. A good Sushi Bar & Japanese restaurant is like having a great cleaners, barber/hairstylist and dentist too -- we all think our own is the best. Tried Sushi On in Indio tonight with some friends and was pleasantly surprised! It's tucked away in a strip mall near the neighborhood Walmart, definitely a hidden gem kind of spot. The restaurant has a classic Japanese sushi bar vibe: nothing fancy, but cozy and casual. Service was friendly and attentive enough. We started with the garlic edamame, which was packed with flavor and a great way to kick off the meal. The standout for me was the protein roll! No rice, wrapped in soy paper, light but super satisfying. Between all of us, we ended up ordering five different rolls, and honestly, every single one hit the mark. Went to have sushi, since I haven't been here in so long but I remember the food being high quality. It still is. Amazing sushi. However, the service was far below average. It took our server way to long to come see us. We had enough time to search the entire menu when we finally decided what we wanted. Still sat there for a few more minutes when our server finally came by. We told her we were ready to order everything and she said okay. She seemed like she didn't really care. We gave our order, and she didn't write anything down. She left to place our order but came back to ask what we ordered again. We had ordered an appetizer (popcorn lobster) which was $16 on the menu, and two rolls. The rolls came out first and then the last one. Not once did she check on us while we were eating. I had finished both my water and my soda, waiting for my server to pass by to ask for a refill. Mind you there were only 4 tables in the entire place and two servers, so it wasn't like they were slammed. We had to ask another server for some water. We also realized they brought us a popcorn lobster roll instead of the appetizer we ordered, which was actually $22 on our tab, meaning she didn't take our order correctly either. (Maybe I'm wrong and they're actually the same thing but the pricing was what we saw on the menu and the appetizer was listed as an appetizer) When we finished eating, she finally came to ask if we wanted refills on our soda. We declined and simply asked for our check. We saw the $22 charge for the roll that we didn't order but we just paid it because we ate it regardless. The chef behind the bar was very kind. We even gave us recommendations but even he asked if we were looking for something at the beginning as we waited to be served. The food was very good and prepared in a short period of time. Sushi in the desert can be a toss up but Sushi ON is a good addition when wanting to satisfy those sushi cravings. Restaurant was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. The restaurant is on the corner of the shopping center and it's not in a center that I'd imagine gets very busy. When we walked in it was nice and cool (which you'd hope for when serving fish) and the interior was clean and welcoming. Service was average. No complaints just also nothing notable to rave home about. Our server was friendly enough and our meal was well spaced from appetizers to the main rolls coming out. Their popcorn lobster roll with the fried bits over the California roll was my favorite. Glad to see new sushi spots popping up in the desert that are able to deliver fresh sushi at a reasonable cost. I'd say their sushi here is 3.75 stars out of 5. Good enough to satisfy that craving. We tried a couple different rolls, all of them were good. Presentation on some was fantastic and others just ok.
