We also ordered a drink that was supposed to include egg white, but it was served without it. After having issues with four dishes and a drink during the same visit, we felt that something was clearly off with the kitchen and bar that evening. We asked the owner, who was sitting next to us at the bar, whether the chef had changed because it seemed like the restaurant was simply having an off night. What happened next was even more disappointing. At first, the owner pretended that he wasn't the owner and said that he knew nothing about the restaurant. After overhearing our continued discussion about the quality of the food and drinks, he confronted us and said, "We don't need patrons like you at our restaurant. There are plenty of other restaurants for you to eat at. Why don't you just leave?" We were not being disrespectful or unreasonable--we were simply disappointed with the food and drinks and trying to understand what had happened. Being spoken to that way by the owner was insulting, completely uncalled for, and genuinely hurtful. I do want to make one thing very clear: the staff and bartenders who work at Cork & Fork were wonderful. They felt terrible about what happened and made it clear that they believed the owner's behavior toward us was completely inappropriate. After we left, several staff members actually followed us outside to apologize on behalf of the owner for the way he had spoken to us. Their kindness and concern were greatly appreciated, and this review is not a reflection of them. There are many excellent restaurants in La Quinta, and based on this experience, we will be taking our business elsewhere. We would strongly suggest considering the many other fine establishments in La Quinta before choosing Cork & Fork.

The entrance lead you down a hallway toward the hostess stand, with couches, a bar and a piano being played to the left. To the right , you enter the main dining room. The space felt open, elegant, and immediately welcoming. Talk about fine dining at its best. The hostess was able to quickly seat our party of six, and our server immediately brought over the menus and filled our water glasses. THE FOOD: We started with the oysters , and they did not disappoint. They were served with a shallot mignonette which was vinegary in all the right ways. They were so good, that we ended up ordering a second round. For dinner, we all ordered the steak with mushrooms and broccoli. The steak was perfectly cooked, and every bite was bursting with flavor. Even the mushrooms and broccoli stood out. Everything was seasoned beautifully without overpowering the actual flavors of the vegetables. Even the bread was so good. It was served with three different butters. And dessert? Also top notch. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful dinner with friends. THE SERVICE: The service really added to the experience. Our server was attentive and took great care of us. The GM, Ray, also stopped by our table, and we ended up chatting and joking with him a bit. He was incredibly friendly and personable and made sure we were having a great experience. Morgan's in the Desert: Disappointment After Disappointment. $400 for Meh…read more After living in La Quinta for four years, we were ready to try Morgan's, as it's one of the last foodie restaurants in the Coachella valley that we haven't tried. We arrived early for our reservation, excited to grab a drink at the bar before dinner. Then we were told our table was already available... only to be seated at a dining table in the bar, off to the side, where apparently servers do not exist while staring at the back of the pianist and the barflies. The two bartenders were fantastic--especially Brian, who was working at warp speed--but they already had a packed bar to manage. Adding dining tables to their workload was clearly not realistic. Why were we seated there? Still a mystery. Reservation problems: I booked through the QR code advertised in The Gem for the August prix fixe dinners at La Quinta Resort's restaurants. When we arrived, we were told the prix fixe menu wasn't available that day. Sorry! So we ordered bread and oysters instead. About 15-20 minutes later, the manager came over and said they would honor the prix fixe after all. Great! Except... we'd already ordered appetizers. ‍ And wow, was it SLOW. We were seated at 5:30 and still didn't have our entrées at 7:00. Drinks regularly sat empty, and once the restaurant got busy around 6:30, water refills disappeared completely. Did I mention it was 110 degrees outside? The food? A mixed bag--but overall, wildly overpriced and underwhelming. * Oysters: Ice-cold and served with a good mignonette. Also pricey. * Bread: Fresh and warm, but the olive tapenade was aggressively salty. Again, overpriced. * Watermelon salad: The winner! Refreshing, flavorful, and the spicy nuts gave it a nice kick. Highly recommend. * Chicken cacciatore: Dry chicken, undercooked tomatoes, overcooked pasta. Never again. * Oscar filet: Delicious and well-prepared, but nothing memorable or special--especially for the price. Bottom line: We spent about $400 for a frustrating, painfully slow, mostly mediocre meal. There are too many great restaurants in the area to spend that kind of money on "meh." We won't be back.

The staff are consistently friendly, the ambience is upbeat, and the space feels genuinely welcoming. Unfortunately, the food doesn't always measure up to the setting. Take one of the standouts -- the Cobb Salad with substituted chicken breast. The portion is generous, the greens fresh, and the blue cheese crumbles plentiful. Paired with your choice of dressing, it's a hearty, reliable, and satisfying option. However, consistency seems to be the restaurant's Achilles' heel. Burgers often arrive at unpredictable doneness -- ordering medium-well can yield rare, while fries described as "well-done" may come out just warm, likely the result of batch cooking and a lack of sufficient heat-holding. The new menu features a welcome addition: the glazed cod. The portion is generous, and though the glaze leans slightly sweet, the flavor profile is otherwise quite good. Unfortunately, the dish arrived with 30+ small bones -- an easily preventable issue. A quick inspection with fingertips or a pair of fish tweezers would have avoided this. Considering the restaurant serves a 55-and-over clientele, ensuring the fish is fully deboned should be a clear priority. Another curious oversight: the kitchen apparently lacks a toaster. When ordering a toasted sandwich -- in my case, the "Toasted Turkey Special" -- I discovered that it's actually pan-grilled. The result was a strong residual flavor of burger grease, likely from the same burger grill, which clashed unpleasantly with the turkey. Falafel plate, the paddies of falafels came out undercooked. They were mushy and took close to 20 minutes to Come out. The ingredients are there, and the potential is clear. What's missing is consistency and attention to execution -- the simple, repeatable touches that turn a good kitchen into a great read more

We are members of the Trilogy Polo Club so we come here often. Excellent and creative food, friendly service and a nice relaxed and casual atmosphere. Beautiful view and outdoor patio. Prices deliver good value for food made with a flair. It doesn't sound like some of the complainers dine out much when they complain about the price. Arnold Palmer's Restaurant

This place was excellent. Best food ever!…read more The whole place was cool. You're first greeted by a complementary valet parking. The whole place has an old school, Spanish hacienda vibe. Definitely make reservations. It was busy when we got there. They first sat us inside, but the acoustics are terrible; it was so loud and echoey in there we could barely have a conversation, luckily the host was able to sit us on the back patio. It was beautiful there and they had a lively guitar soloist who was very versatile in all genres of music. Our waiter could've been a little more attentive. We got waters and drinks, but I thought he'd ask if we wanted any appetizers, but he ran off as soon as we got the drinks and we probably sat for 20 minutes. I had an Arnold Palmer to drink maybe to be cliche but it really hit and paired well with my meal. I thought they might have some complementary bread or something, but no. Our server finally came back to take our order. I thought they might have some specials, but he didn't mention any and I was impatient at that point. I don't always leave 5 stars, but the food made up for what the service lacked. It was really worth the wait once we got our food. We started with the potstickers. They were prepared excellently. They weren't soggy at all as they can sometimes be and the dipping sauce was simple yet phenomenal. The calamari was great. It was crispy and had crunchy breading. The best thing were the onion rings. They were THE best I've ever had. They were just the right amount of crispy, they weren't greasy and their flavor was amazing with the perfect amount of salt and seasoning. We even tried the BBQ shrimp. That was just ok, I don't know about the sauce or the piece of bread it comes with. Our entrees were excellent too. I had the halibut with pepper jack risotto. That was amazing. You don't find halibut at a lot of places and it was so flakey and not dry whatsoever. The risotto was excellent too. You hardly ever see pepper jack flavor either; It did not disappoint! The spaghetti was amazing too. My partner ordered that. Their homemade noodles and sausage are next level. A couple other entrees at our table included the filet mignon and the New York steak. They were both excellent. I'd say the New York steak was the better of those two options. It was cooked to perfection. Our server didn't bring our food out, but the guy who brought our food knew which person ordered which entree without asking which was cool. We didn't stop there. They we had dessert. I tried the peanut butter gelato. It was rich and decadent. My partner had their house butter cake a la mode, which was so tasty. It was moist and not overly sweet. The banana split was huge too! The valet gives you tickets to pick up your car. We were one of the last patrons of the night and Seth from the valet recognized us and already had my car ready before I had my ticket out. He saw me in the lobby area about to exit. I highly recommend going here. Make a reservation for outdoors (when the weather permits) and you'll probably get a great server.
