Went for my second lunch here last weekend. I really like it. It's a small intimate space, the staff is very nice and put out a chill vibe. The food is mostly very healthy. First trip I ordered the hot mess as it seemed to be very popular. Wasn't my favorite - too much going on and the sriracha overpowered the taste of anything else. This time I ordered nachos. It's different having goat cheese on nachos and it was a generous amount. Also the mix of beans, sweet potatoes, and chard (I think) with salsa was all really good. This is a super cute and healthy brunch stop if youre looking for something filling and nutritious! The staff was very friendly and kind. We came around noon on a saturday, so it was pretty busy and the food took a while, maybe 30 minutes or so. For drinks we ordered the health nut smoothie, which was okay (the peanut butter was a bit overpowering), and the latte, which was very good. It's like walking into a person's home and they are just cookin up a storm! Nothin fancy in terms of the restaurant (in a small strip mall) itself, except for the awesome heat lamps on the patio. I had the veggie breakfast quesadilla, with eggs, beans and guac, on a whole wheat tortilla. Comes with an adorable salad with fresh arugula and fun fruits, even a watermelon radish, oh how I love those. Tasty food, definitely made to order as you might wait a little for your food to arrive. I ate here twice during a recent 5-day visit to Ann Arbor, so I obviously was impressed with the place. On my first visit I had the JK Club sandwich. It was very good though not as healthy as a choice as some of their other menu items, with avocado, bacon, and some sort of sauce. But it was delicious! On my second visit I had their veggie burger. This didn't satisfy me the way the club sandwich had; it was okay, but nothing special. I would definitely order the club sandwich again but not the veggie burger. I shared a baked cinnamon sugar donut with a friend during my first visit and it was very tasty -- lots of cinnamon, and I love cinnamon. Considering that most of my meals in Ann Arbor were at pricier places, it was nice to stumble upon this place that serves good food that's quite affordable. read more

This place was delicious! I stopped by for a quick breakfast with my son after an appointment at the hospital. Everything we ate was incredibly fresh and perfectly done. There didn't seem to be a small plates option or kids meal, so my lucky little guy got a full breakfast quesadilla which was amazing, but a lot of food for him and more than I was prepared to pay. I got an awesome benedict with a delicious side salad. The watermelon radishes were a great touch. Truly, the food takes the cake. It was fresh, healthy, and so so good. They also have a coffee bar which was cool. While the hot drinks and coffee sounded great, I was hoping for a colder beverage and found it in a great local cold-brew. The service was friendly, there was ample parking (it's in a strip mall) and our meals were ready quickly. There wasn't a lot of room inside of the restaurant but they did have high chairs. Me and my wife and 18 month old arrived at 7:45 excited to try breakfast here because we had heard good things. We thought they opened at 7am because of Yelp (not there fault) but they said to come back at 8am which was only 15 minutes. Having been vegan for a year now, (wohoo!), it may come as a surprise that I've never had a breakfast/lunch meal at a restaurant before. Before coming into juicy kitchen, I scanned their menu online, nothing popping out to me really. After entering the quaint little cafe, I was filled with happiness, just from how cute and homemade everything looked. My friend and I found a table right by the windows which was very comfortable and I felt really connected to the place. Anytime I find a restaurant that has self serve water, that water is usually too warm and tastes like tap water, but not juicy kitchens, no no! Their water had fruits floating around it, making it oh so flavorful which made me even more happy that I've found this place. After looking over the menu, I had decided on getting the tempeh w/sweet potato (forgot its name!). Oh My God.. it was unbelievably great!! Made me do my happy dance lol Oh but don't skimp on their vegan donuts and cinnamon latte, together they will make your insides all warm and fuzzy :) I tried their peanut butter quinoa cookie, really good as a breakfast bar. The food gets 4 stars but the billing practices get -5 stars giving this place a 1 star review! To start: the prices here in general are steep. That's okay because I don't mind paying for quality. My guest and I both ordered breakfasts. Then the person who helped us (possibly the owner) asked if we wanted chicken sausage or bacon. It seemed like an innocent question, and they way she asked, we assumed it was included. I guess it our fault for not clarifying, but it turns out what we thought was included with our meals were actually an extra $3 charge each. On top of that the chicken sausage was not good. It just felt dishonest to me. Usually places tell you up front that those thing carry an extra charge. My advice to people trying this place is make sure you are exactly clear what you want and what you are getting charged. Even though the other food was good, I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Juicy Kitchen! Which I found because of Yelp. Thank you yelpers. This place is totally my kind of place. And, if you dream of adorable and intimate restaurants that serve high quality food, prepared mindfully, then this place is probably for you too! It's just so wonderful! And, I'm so grateful that the owner followed whatever it was that brought her to this place in time so that she could share Juicy Kitchen with the world. Or, at least Ann Arbor. And me. And even though I live about 25 miles away, I will be here often, for sure. It's adorable, adorable, adorable and I love that I can get gluten free, vegan, vegetarian or whatever, simply by asking. It's small (I think it seats around 14-ish) and it's simply precious. Small enough so they can provide great service to everyone. ...SUPER friendly and accommodating staff! Food is sourced from local farmers whenever possible and oh so yummy. Our coffee beverages (latte and regular coffee) were wonderful as well! They serve Mighty Good Coffee, which is of course, well, um, mighty good. Seriously! This is a great restaurant! They have delicious vegan, gluten-free, and paleo options without being overly pricy. I ordered the baked eggs with kale and sweet potatoes, plus a regular coffee with almond milk. The baked eggs were fabulous! Great portions at a great price. The only reason why I didn't give it the full 5 stars is because the space itself was very small and crowded. I have been to this place twice with my parents and both times the food was very subpar. The first time I got a veggie burger, and it just flat out didn't taste good. Since veggie burgers are hard to get right, and my parents love this restaurant, I decided I'd give it a second chance. The second time I ate here I tried the JK Club, which was an insult to my taste buds.... Grilled chicken breast, fresh avocado, local bacon, zesty ranch dressing... In principle this sandwich sounds amazing, but the execution was extremely poor. First off, the bread dominated the sandwich. It was served on a large ciabatta that day, which tasted like day old Kroger's bakery bread. Each bite was overpowered with too much bread. Next, it was very skimpy on avocado. Last and most importantly, the chicken was dry! Let me repeat that last statement... the chicken at "JUICY" Kitchen was extremely dry. There was nothing juicy about this sandwich, and it left me feeling like I had a cement block sitting in the bottom of my stomach. My parents really enjoy this place, but their taste in food is very poor, and they tend to go to places with bland food that leaves them feeling stuffed. I on the other hand enjoy fresh flavorful food, and have very high standards when it comes to food. The quality at Juicy Kitchen comes nowhere close to meeting their price point, and the taste is awful. They seem very nice there and have the right idea when it comes to food concepts, however, again the execution is awful. It's unfortunate that I can't give separate rankings for service and food. So let's start with the bad, because unfortunately that left a stronger impression: This is the first restaurant I've ever been to where our table was promised to a large party and we were asked to leave to accommodate another group. This restaurant is tiny and space is at a premium, but that is no excuse for essentially giving away an occupied table. This is what happened: We arrived as a group of four and near the end of the meal I asked for a refill of coffee and was told "Can you take it in a to-go cup? We promised this table for another group; we said they could have it in 10 mins." It turns out that the four people next to us were actually a group of six or eight people, mostly children, and had been promised our four top table to accommodate the rest of the group. Given the size of their restaurant, I think Juicy Kitchen should consider a policy of no parties greater than five, rather than kicking out paying customers who merely want to visit with out of town friends. Now let's talk about the food: Juicy Kitchen has the best breakfast food in Ann Arbor. It's less meat and potatoes focused with lots of great vegan and vegetarian options. You can tell the ingredients are high quality and they even serve mighty good coffee. Definitely the best breakfast food in A2. I have to say that this was one of the worst customer services experiences I've had to deal with at a restaurant. Which is all the more depressing considering how much I like this place and want to see it succeed. It may be awhile before I come back. Please consider better policies regarding seating, telling perfectly reasonable people to leave is inexcusable. read more

This is one of Ann Arbor's best local spots. Hidden in a strip mall next to a gross liquor store and gas station you would never expect to find such a warm, intimate and welcoming atmosphere. People actually talk to each other here. The baked eggs are our favorite. And I love their homemade bread. Seating is limited but the staff work hard to fit everyone in. Summers are great to sit outside. Also they get their coffee from mighty good, so that's a plus always. read more

The place is cramped and for someone who didn't know the menu or flow of things was a little uncomfortable. We were in town for a wedding and after driving through the night needed breakfast. We decided on here based on reviews as well as their gluten free options. We decided on the oatmeal cakes and the gluten free club sandwich. The oatmeal cakes were filling and, with fruit, had a fulfilling sweetness. The gluten free club kinda fell apart in my hands. I loved the avocado but wanted less 'sauce' on it. It came with a little side salad that left much to be desired. I picked out a blueberry or two but that's it. We also had a side of bacon which seemed very expensive for what it was. Service was just different, I guess. As you order and pay up front- but that isn't really clear off the bat. But they did check on us and clear the table. read more

Good morning sunshine: great dessert plate, small serving. I LOVE that everything came with a salad and fruit pieces. It balances out the meal. Limited seating, you'll probably be waiting if you go at prime time. Service was good though they do try to get you in and out quickly. Food on the pricer side. Overall: I would go back. Personal favorite is the baked french toast with cream cheese and caramelized apples... hits the sweet spot between hearty and healthy. Also, the coffee is delicious and bottomless, just as the good Lord intended it. The only downside is the location, in a little strip mall sandwiched between a liquor store and a dry cleaners -- hampers the al fresco ambiance, but not too much. And, I'm a little happy that it's hidden (for now). read more

Biggest turn off was the fact that I sat and watched the cook put food in her mouth multiple times (even out of the pot of the stove) and also once from the bread of what appeared to be my husband's sandwich. This restaurant is a small and cute cafe with an indie and vegan atmosphere. They use all natural and locally sourced ingredients in most all of their dishes. Let me tell you about the food though! My boyfriend and I enjoyed their breakfast today. I ordered JK's Benedict and he the Scottish cakes. The Benedict used a corn cake patty in place of a English muffin which added a light cornmeal background and the red pepper on top of that with the poached egg and caramelized onions added that mildly sweet taste initially. The Scottish cakes are pancakes made from oatmeal and because of that they were filling ! It had a berry compote on top that kept it from being dry. Highly recommend! read more

Being the health freak that I am, this place is perfect for people like me - fresh, wholesome food prepared with care. When we first arrived, we were told that we would have to wait 10-15 minutes because people had called in to reserve tables. We were also told that if they didn't show up in 5 minutes, we would be able to take their spot. After waiting a few minutes, they called us back in and we were seated pretty quickly after ordering at the front. Both the hostess and the cashier were extremely, extremely patient and attentive. We got the baked eggs and the breakfast quesadilla and both came out in a reasonable time with portions being very generous. My baked eggs actually came with three eggs with one being hidden under the piece of toast which was a nice surprise. Under the eggs was a bed of spinach, sweet potatoes and caramelized onions which all had great flavors that blended together with the sweetness of the sweet potato and onion. I normally do not eat onions but these were soft and caramelized to the point that I didn't mind as the onion taste was not strong. This dish comes with fresh fruit and salad which is a refreshing addition to the eggs as they can get a bit heavy. I was overall very satisfied with my dish and I left not feeling like a greasy blob as I usually do after a large brunch on the weekends. I tried a bit of the breakfast quesadilla as well and flavors were hearty but the dish is vegetarian unless you add in some meat for extra charge (we got the grilled chicken for an extra $2). The restaurant is pretty small but decor is cute and the menus are handwritten in chalk. The atmosphere of the place gives off a vibe that everything is done and made with care and it shows in the staff and in the food. read more

It was pricey but worth it. Super cute atmosphere too. The only major downside is their weird hours. Their kitchen closes at 2, which is mid day and a popular time for a late lunch. Often times I've thought of going here on my day off but I can't because they close in either 10 minutes or are already closed. Closing at 2 eliminates a lot of chances for business especially from a younger crowd like me. If it was open later I'd be stopping by much more often. I also did not like how when the waitress asked for my name, she proceeded to call me my name during every interaction in an effort to seem personable. This is definitely one of my favorite eateries in Ann Arbor. Still a best kept secret, JK never disappoints with healthy and delicious meals. I've had breakfast here numerous times, as well as ordered prepared dinners to go. Today I tried the potato hash, which was phenomal, and typically try something new every time I come. Such a great idea and a great way to eat healthy on the go and for the same price as if I'd eat out or go grocery shopping. It's a little far from campus, but is a great place for busy grad school students that want healthy options. The staff are always friendly, as they waited 2 hours after closing while they were cleaning up to allow me to pick up my food. Impeccable team and service! This is my favorite Ann Arbor breakfast spot. It features a creative menu and all meals are as fresh as can be! I have had the French toast, Benedict, scramble, and numerous breakfast sandwiches. Every time I go I see something else I need to try next time. Today it was the smoked salmon scramble...with fresh veggies & fruit. Outstanding! Creative roasted red pepper, garlic & sriracha sauce mixed with ultra fresh veggies and perfectly smoked salmon. Loved it. Wife had an avocado, goat cheese, and sun dried tomato, egg breakfast sandwich. The bread alone was worth the price of admission. Highly recommend this place! My husband's JK Club was huge and very tasty. Everyone around us seemed to be enjoying their meal. We went on a Saturday at 10:15 and had a 25 minute wait.
