With that being said, my hot take has always been that millennials make some of the best coffee. I tried the miso caramel hot latte with oat milk, the honey matcha, and a mango lemonade, all of which turned out delicious! The miso caramel had a deep rich miso flavor which complimented the caramel so well. Though I probably wouldn't order it again because it wasn't quite my preferred sweetness for that flavor combo, I still admired the ingenious of the flavor combo and really enjoyed it once I added a little extra sugar. The honey matcha was very good and I like the subtle sweetness that the honey gave the matcha. I could tell that their grade of matcha wasn't the best but they made up for it in technique and flavoring. The mango lemonade was a sweet pick me up and I really enjoyed the fresh mango taste. For food, I tried their lox bagel and I will admit, it wasn't my favorite lox bagel I've had. I could tell everything was fresh and I did enjoy it to a degree, but it tasted very heavily pickley and wished it leaned more into the classic lox and caper bagel I prefer. I also didn't prefer paying 16 + tax for it and definitely won't be doing that again. Despite that, I don't think it deserves a removal of a star because it was still made well, it just wasn't for me. Though I'm a gen-Z and the brutalist style lacks the whimsy I so desperately (and totally not performatively) crave, I still appreciate that it cleans and there is so much space to study if necessary. I also appreciate the community mindset with the fresh roasting across the street, pizza bar Nextdoor, and ceramics studio down the road (I love a coffee + ceramics combo as a ceramicist myself). This place is definitely a hidden treasure and I can't wait to try more of it and bring friends along with me.

I'll have to be honest, I really wanted to like this place, the concept and menu sounded great...but I gave this place a few chances thinking the service would change but so far it hasn't. Each time I've been there, the person taking my order has been extremely RUDE and the food is very inconsistent- sometimes the meal is as described on the menu and sometimes I feel as though i've wasted my money on something subpar- untoasted bread, dry food, raw eggs. I don't think they appreciate having customers as reflected in their attitude. The place is also extremely small and claustrophobic, i'm just disappointed with the overall service and quality of the meals. I'd rather go to a place such as Seva or the lunch room where the food is consistently delicious, the service is always nice and respectful no matter who you see, and the place is pleasant to dine. Another thing I noticed is that I don't think their vegetables are organic even though sometimes locally sourced whenever available, I'm just disappointed with this place and regret spending any money here! read more

Having moved back to Ann Arbor from Portland, Oregon one thing I've missed is the café culture. But since discovering Juicy Kitchen I've found a great way to fill the void in my heart and appetite. What makes JK work so well is the obvious love and culinary intelligence of the proprietress, Susan. Everything from the menu, the décor, to the happy hipster helpers conveys a quiet but profound confidence. Juicy Kitchen is clearly run by someone who both knows and loves exactly what she's doing. The food balances both comfort and conscientiousness. Between visits I crave an omelet or the tempe Rueben, but everything I've had has made me feel both healthy and spoiled. Even the water is unique- infused with fruits, herbs, even cucumber slices. I have yet to find a more mindful use of a café that wasn't on one of the coasts. Anyone who craves that culture or cuisine will love the Juicy Kitchen. read more

This place has amazing food! I've only been here three times, but every time has been memorable. Get the blueberry pancakes and vanilla tea! Oh my god. That's all I have to say. Food is great. Hands down. My only complaint is that it is soooo cramped in there. I wish they would change their location to a larger spot because it would make the dining experience much more comfortable. I'm all for a diner feel, but I don't want to feel like I'm eating inside of a Tupperware dish. Go try it though. It's worth the squished interior, at least a few times. read more

Remember that scene in Ratatouille when the food critic gets transported to a core memory? That happens to me when I eat that bread. I have purchased goat milk soap there (its handmade by the baker's wife), hot chocolate mix, a kabocha squash, this no sugar added mango puree (which I made a no-sugar added mango torte with). They have these really cool unique products, and it really is a treat to stop by. The place is beautiful, and it is a gem to have such a high quality place to eat on this side of town. The passion that these people have comes through in their food, the products they sell, and the way they treat their community. I love Ann Arbor, and I love this cafe. They have an impressive array of options and stock. And it's clean and the aisles are quite spacious, so you're not squeezing past people and their carts just to get by. Lots of grab and go options, too. They have a coffee counter and a pretty sizeable hot bar/prepared foods section. We remarked we'd definitely come back through for that when we weren't in the mood to cook. Produce was impressive. Everything looked fresh and they had a fairly robust selection of tropical fruit, too, which was exciting since I do love a fresh passion fruit now and again. Meat counter was stacked and they have even more in the frozen section, including local farms and purveyors which was impressive. Speaking of local, they carry a TON of local products, from coffee to jams, snacks, meats, dairy, deli meats, etc. They also have a sizable bulk foods section and we were psyched to see our favorite local coffee roaster (Roos Roast) was included. We go through a lot of beans this time of year for our cold brew so it's great to be able to stock up in bulk. They also have a few grinders for freshly making your own bulk peanut butter and almond butter in a variety of styles and roasts. Oh and they also have their own butter churning space near the diary section! Which was unique to the area. It's behind glass so during production hours you can see them make it. After hours you can find their churns in the cooler, with a spread of options including cinnamon, herb, garlic, etc. The only part that was a slight disappointment was the bakery dept. But I have high standards on that. They do have desserts and a variety of options (breads, cakes, pastries, bagels, donuts, etc) at different price points but I wasn't really knocked out by what we got (blueberry lemon scones and a half dozen donuts). Again, not bad, but we are spoiled here in town with access to a lot of kick ass baked goods so it's definitely hard to compare. Check out staff was really nice. Layout made sense and was easy to find whatever we were looking for. My hope is the continue to maintain the quality they've kicked off with! We'll definitely be adding them to our grocery rotation!

Staff very friendly and helpful!…read more There are now to-go boxes and water and cups upstairs so you don't have to go downstairs to get them. I tried the Chicken Bacon Ranch flat bread and the flavor was good but the crust was overcooked and was too hard to bite into/enjoy. I don't think it's worth $12. The burger is worth it though! Also, if you are lactose sensitive like me, the dairy or ranch affected my stomach after.
