The spread of delicious food from Star's Cafe!

We ordered their delicious food to cater our end of year golf banquet, for 35 people. The food was delivered hot and on time. We had falafel, hummus, baba ghanoush, pita, kibbeh, cauliflower, shish tawook, shish kafta, grape leaves, rice and fattoush salad. Plus, a platter of baklava for dessert. Everyone loved the food! We are so happy with the quality of the food, and their service is fantastic!

Stopped in here for a quick takeout dinner with my dad. I had heard good things about it from friends but had never been before. My dad, bless his heart, was a bit overwhelmed with the menu and the guy working was incredibly helpful and patient. We ordered two chicken tawook Greek salads ($11.50 each), side orders of hummus and tabbouleh (I believe each were around $6), and an extra side of toum. The tabbouleh and hummus were both excellent - the hummus in particular was some of the best I've had to be honest. It was very light and airy and had an excellent flavor. The toum was also top-notch and made for an excellent complement to the meal. The salads were good, they were very generous with the feta cheese and the portions were large. The chicken was tender and seasoned well. I would probably opt to get one of the platters next time I come since the salad was just a little boring. Overall this is a great, affordable, family-operated spot serving up excellent food. I would definitely return either for takeout again or to dine in.

Chicken tawook sandwich combo meal, with tabbouleh and hummus (comes with extra pita)

Solid lunch option in a convenient, bustling location (the Westgate strip/area). I stopped in here in an attempt to treat myself with a yummy lunch to fuel up for a couple hours of focused work at the nearby AADL Westgate branch. Walked into Star's Cafe and ordered for dine in - the Chicken Tawook sandwich combo meal, which comes with hummus and tabbouleh. Got a number, sat down at one of many small tables inside (pretty no frills and casual), and waited while my meal was prepared and brought to me (about ~10min later). The meal was good! Very generous portion for one, and tasty. The chicken in the sandwich (wrap) was flavorful and juicy, with crisp veg and a nice pickle crunch. The garlic sauce was pretty mild (I do usually like a good pungent garlic sauce, even if others around me don't appreciate it). The hummus was decent, with the tahini flavor forward. Tabbouleh was ok, not the best in Ann Arbor. But it was all best combined (ie scooping some hummus and tabbouleh onto the wrap with each bite). The meal came with an extra baggy of pita, which I didn't think was needed. Good value for the price and amount of food. One thing - it's January and it was really cold inside the cafe. I needed to keep my heavy winter coat on, fully zipped up, to be comfortable dining in. Looking around and it wasn't just me; most everyone else there were also wearing their winter coats.

I finally got to try this place. It's a cute, small spot with limited seating. I came at lunch rush and they were very busy, with good reason. I ordered the cauliflower sandwich combo, which came with hummous and tabbouleh. It was all excellent! I'll return to try the Riz b har sandwich , falafels and meat items.

Everything was amazing, came from Indianapolis and this the best middle eastern food we had, the serve there gave us free desserts too!

This is a cute "hole in the wall" cafe that is hidden within a shopping center. I wanted to try this place because Middle Eastern/North African cuisine is my favorite. I ordered the gyro salad and falafels. The falafels came out steaming hot! They were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. They came with tahini sauce and the dish was delicious! The greek salad was fresh and crisp with savory dressing. So good! I will definitely be back! So glad I found this place!

If you like a selection of meats and vegetables for lunch, this Mediterranean spot is for you. My lentil soup and Baba Ghannouj (eggplant spread) were tasty. The service was very friendly. I recommend.

We ordered a big stack of take-out from Star's (I think the platter for two and the baklava assortment). It was a LOT of food, and there was some good and some not-so-good: The good: the baklava was unreal amazing. It tasted fresh and very pistachio-forward, which we loved. The sauces were all incredible and the falafels, grape leaves, and kibbeh were gone within minutes. The pita and hummus were fantastic as well. The not-so-good: sadly the meat was all really over cooked for us. That could be a personal preference, but the shish kafta was so dry it was hard to eat. We will definitely be back to try their sandwiches and more!

We got a shawarma, gyro, smoothie and juice and it was all very mediocre. I was a bit sad it wasn't as good as the ratings.

I was addicted to their chicken shawarma wrap for a while, but the last time I went in, the worker was yelling into his phone loudly in a language I didn't know and barely looked at me as a came to the counter. I said my name and pointed to the sandwich and he nodded and went back to his phone call. I don't love that, probably take a little break but I will have to be back for the sandwich eventually. ;)

I loved everything I ordered!…read more I picked up more than a few things so I could have a few meals including an order of hummus, (fluffy!) pita, a chicken shawarma sandwich, a side of rice (huge!), an order of baba ganoush, and a few meat pies. All the portions were massive and so delicious. The rice alone could be like three meals. I ordered extra pita because I wasn't sure how much would come with the hummus and baba ganoush on their own but that was silly because they were very generous! Though I can't complain about extra pita! It definitely added up a bit on price but because it lasted me for many meals I didn't stress too much about it. I ended up ordering for dinner but they do also have a bangin' lunch menu which has some great sandwich and entree options for a smaller price point, like a sandwich and a side or an entree and two sides for around $13-15.

Shoutout to my friend and fellow foodie Tiffany for always being down to try a new spot together!…read moreWe did a double date at El Harissa recently and it's my favorite kind of spot - welcoming and warm, with delicious food, and kind, patient employees. The cafe is a few tables inside of the market/deli, with a lot of takeout happening but I love that they offer dining in as they heat everything up for you and it's all presented very nicely. We ordered a ton of things: harissa dip, hummus, pita, spice roasted cauliflower, tabbouleh, lasagne verde, chicken tagine, and gelato. I loved that the menu indicates which menu items have a smaller carbon footprint - and we happened to be dining there on Earth Day! The food was all flavorful and the perfect temperature, which I appreciated. My favorites were the harissa dip, tabbouleh, and the lasagne verde. The chicken tagine was very good, and we enjoyed the leftovers the next day. The spice roasted cauliflower left us wanting it to be a bit more crispy, but it was a nice side. The gelato is delicious - it's made by Palazzolo's but El Harissa provides them with the unique ingredients for their specialty flavors. They were out of some but we got to sample several. We ended up with the roasted pistachio gelato and the apricot peach cardamom. The texture of the gelato was perfectly creamy and the flavors were strong. The market has lots of great items to buy: chips, tunisian olive wood pieces, spices, etc. I'm so glad we sought out this spot and can't wait to get more of their food!

Had the: *Spice Roasted Cauliflower (Crispy cauliflower florets coated and baked in rice and chickpea flour and our North African spice blend. I also like the harissa dip it came with! *Small Merguez Meatballs (Inspired by the Maghrebi sausage, our spiced lamb and beef meatballs are hand-rolled with onions and herbs and coated with a thick tomato sauce. Served with saffron rice or couscous - small portion came with 3 for $10): For meatballs that included lamb - it wasn't gamey at all and very tasty! I picked cous cous for my side. *Chicken Chermoula (Brined, seared, then baked to capture all of its flavor, our crowd-favorite chicken is juicy and delicious. Served over rice with our herby, garlicky, lemony Chermoula Sauce - Double Portion - $18): Our main entree to share. The lemony chermoula sauce was delish. Chicken was perfectly cooked - not dry at all! Mujadara Rice (A Levantine staple of spiced green lentils and rice. Ours is adorned with carefully caramelized golden onions for a touch of savory-sweetness - small for $8) - SO tasty! I could eat this on its own. Maghrebi Chili (Smoky and spicy. Ground beef seasoned with Harissa spices and slowly cooked with chickpeas, lentils, black beans, peppers, and loads of vegetables - Small/Pint - $9.50) - FIBER CITY! Flavors were really good! We also had SO much gelato - they basically let us sample all of them. ended up with the pistachio and tiramisu. I'll be back - especially for a salad with their wonderful chicken - seems like a great healthy option!
